I mean around here where I’m from if a new mayor, governor ect comes into office especially from the opposite party they tend to get rid of or demote department heads etc. and put their own people in those positions.

I also heard some comments on FOX News special report with Brit Hume from Krauthammer saying something in the line of Palin could fire Monegon for being too short if she wanted.

If my thoughts on this are correct and Krauthammers why hasn’t this angle been covered in the media? Maybe I’m totaly off base.

Back to the kitchen. Smoked salmon and cream cheese. Boston Brown Bread with orange marmalade butter. Various cheeses with flatbreads. Crudite.

Hope we’ll have a good turnout. I think the responses we got were very positive.

    What do you all think?

I haven’t read the linked articles yet, but just off the cuff I can tell you this:

The fact that Obama can’t speak without a teleprompter the same way he speaks with a teleprompter tells me that he is reading someone else’s material.

Authentic people can speak the same way with or without a teleprompter. For them, the teleprompter is just a tool, not a crutch or life support system.

Obama is the “front man”, the “empty suit”, the “shiny packaging” on a radical militant revolutionary movement.

It would not surprise me one iota if Bill Ayers is the true author of “Obama’s” books.

Connect the dots between Islamic Jihadists, the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan, “Rev” Wright, Barack Obama, the “57 states” of the OIC, Russia, the Communist Party USA, the Weather Underground, and William Ayers.

Did you know that William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn gave their two children Islamic names?

It’s true. I put the details in A Different “9/11 Truth”

I love that you give us a chance to speak, Michelle, thank you.

This has been on my mind for quite awhile.

Fox is “supposed” to be fair and balanced. To my ears and eyes, I am hearing way more liberal clips, opinions, etc. I would say they are leaning more left and not balanced and I’m guessing it’s for the almighty dollar–to get more viewers. I even hear so called conservative reporters sounding liberal and I’m shaking my head, like, did I just hear that? It seems the liberals get the last word and more airtime is given to Obama. It has become a huge turn off and Fox is losing real conservative viewers. I am getting pretty sick of it myself. I would love an all conservative station.

Do others feel this way? My husband and I sometimes have to stop watching. Right after the convention, you heard Chris Wallace immediately say something negative. Even Brit Hume, who I used to love, has been coming out of the liberal closet with some of his comments. What is going on? Do they really feel this way? Why go negative after a convention that I thought went great?

I would love Michelle’s insight on this. I know what I see, but why? Just for more viewers? I think it’s pathetic.

Thanks for a chance to express myself.

I don’t know the particulars of each state’s law, but you are generally correct. Political appointees serve at the executive’s (mayor, governor, president, etc.) “privilege.” Privilege is an intentional term.

The Clintons lived this practice by eliminating entire departments of political appointees during their Presidency. The one time they fell into trouble was was when they tried to replace the White House Travel Office staff with “travel agent” friends of theirs from Arkansas. I can’t remember if they somehow broke Federal law in their attempts, or if they merely ran aground by lying about the professional performance of those they were firing, but they were rebuffed.

Anyhooo, I have heard from those who have reviewed the Palin case, that there is ample evidence that the gentleman that she had transferred to run another department, but he refused and quit, had engaged in repeat subordination…a fireable offense.

But to answer your question, an executive has the right to generally fire all political appointees, even for the most trivial of reasons.

The only difference is, liberals seem to think it a criminal offense when Republicans do it.

    McCain
    East – up 4% (37%, 41%)
    Midwest – up 5% (41%, 46%)
    South – up 3% (51%, 54%)
    West – up 4% (43%, 47%)

McCain rising with all tides, my friends. Numbers for the Lamb of South Central:

    B. Hussein Obama
    East – down 1% (50%, 49%)
    Midwest – no change (46%, 46%)
    South – down 1% (40%, 39%)
    West – down 2% (49%, 47%)

    Nice trend.

I find this possibility interesting for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, because if true, it’s yet another “accomplishment” of Obama’s that isn’t really his.

Next, it highlights what we already know to be true…Ayers was much more than “some guy in my neighborhood.”

I’ve heard people ask why Obama would have met up with Ayers but few ask the flip side of that question…what was it about Obama, a minor attorney at a small firm, that attracted Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist?

And of course, here’s the question in all of our minds…how on EARTH is it possible that this man could be our next president?!?

Here is my modest attempt at satire about the socialists and their convention – admittedly I’m somewhat late, as I was a few weeks ago when I first posted it about a week or so after the socialists’ convention in Denver:

Modified from Chicago/We Can Change the World, by David Crosby & Graham Nash

    DENVER/WE CAN CHANGE AND HOPE

Well, we never liked this country
And we think most folks are dim
Won’t you please come here to Denver
    Just to hope

We’re going in the wrong direction
And our only hope is him
Won’t you please come here to Denver
    Just to help us hope

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope
    We’re trying-to change direction

    All we wise elitists know
Most folks ain’t as smart as us
Won’t you please come here to Denver
    For some hope

Just don’t ask Barack to help you
Cause he’ll toss you under the bus
Won’t you please come here to Denver
So we won’t look like such dopes

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope
We’re trying-if you believe in abortion
We’re trying-and if you believe in taxes
We’re trying-let anyone do anything they want
We’re trying-right and wrong, responsibility, who needs them
    Open up the border

    Somehow people must be fooled
Hope that day comes in ten weeks
Won’t you please come here to Denver
Give the finger to their face

From the Folsom Street Fair freakies
To the rioters in the streets
Won’t you please come here to Denver
No one else has quite your grace

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope
We’re trying- if you believe in abortion
We’re trying-and if you believe in taxes
We’re trying-let anyone do anything they want
We’re trying-right and wrong, responsibility, who needs them
    Open up the border

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope

    We can change and hope
Really change and hope-yes, we can*

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope

    We can change and hope
    Really change and hope

*(These three words appear once as the song’s actual lyrics at this point.)

Too good to pass up, even though I’m some weeks late.
Perhaps these words might have helped the socialists “recreate “68”.

This election, 2 of those 3 siblings are NOT voting for Obama. One (who is a newly found conservative) is voting for McCain with enthusiasm, and one is leaning towards McCain or is not going to vote at all this election (she’s a big Hillary supporter). The last sibling is a diehard, brain dead lefty Democrat, who happened to have watched both conventions because her boyfriend insisted (he’s Independent), and now she has confessed that she is leaning towards McCain because she really likes Palin and was impressed by McCain’s devotion to this country.

Will wonders never cease. No one in my former Democrat family is voting for Obama. Not one!

And I even know that banks have to give credit to make money – but this is absurd. The only things the banks have learned is that one way or the other I am going to pay – either a bill, or a bailout.

I’m starting to agree that George Bush SHOULD be impeached. The habits he is reinforcing really do amount to high crimes and misdemeanors.

Shame on these banks, shame on the RNC, and shame on George Bush.

Fox news is no longer fair and balanced. The only place to get that is right here and other Conserative Bloggers. For some unknown reason I can’t pick up the only station in my area that carrys, Laura, Hannity, and Dennis Miller, too much interference.
I did watch O’Reilly say the other night that the Bush Whitehouse didn’t do anything about Fannie May and Freddy Mac. I read two links earlier on this thread where they did try to do something about it and was stopped by the Democrats. I hope somebody tells O’Reilly.

Agreed. This was very interesting and well-done. On the whole it is quite difficult to read these poll numbers without understanding all the assumptions and possibilities for error. The Gallup results seemed particularly odd because another poll I saw today is showing McCain pulling ahead on the basic of being best suited to handle the economy, definitely the most critical issue this year. Finally, Rush L. has cautioned that all these results need to be taken with several grains of salt until the final two weeks of the campaign and I think he is unquestionably correct. So ignore the polls for now.

Bottom Line: This race is still way too close to call and this year the debates really will matter (normally that is not the case) and could well be decisive.

Lord knows we all have our moments of rage, though I think as a rule they pass rather quickly with conservatives. We really can’t sustain the hate nearly to the degree or depth our brothers on the left can.

So here is my suggestion: The next time you come across a right-winger “choking on the ground in front of” you, render all necessary aid and comfort, contact medical people, etc. After you have done that (thus preventing any possible guilt/legal issues), and the right-winger has fully recovered, invite the person for a pleasant get together and at that point, kick him/her in the shins. You will find that approach so much more agreeable and satisfying and we here at mm.com will thank you for it.

There’s no way I’d help someone like that spread their poison, or procreate if I could help it. Unless I was risking some type of legal liability, I’d watch them suffer in the streets. If I encountered a known Neo-nazi, and he needed my assistance, I’d watch him/her suffer. Call it what you will, but at least I’m honest. I so want to come to your house for o’derbies and good company. Your menu for your event sounds yummy!

Back to the question of what we all did today – went to a Parade of Homes by local builders. Granite counters, Viking equipped kitchens, marble floors/bathrooms/entrys, river rocked fireplaces, very high end “stuff” and all I could think of was, “how are you going to pay for this once Obama is in power?” Fell in love with my house all over again. Beautiful day – warm w/ clear skies and just a hint of crisp air, stopped off at a local micro brewery for lunch and a Wizen. Noticed there were not as many people as usual, but then, shopping last week was the same. Just because a store is crowded doesn’t mean a thing. It’s the bags going out the door that tells how the economy is doing – not the lookieloos or mall rats. All around, a lovely day. Like before any bad weather, calm before the storm?
