Team McCain has an epiphany: The NYTimes is a left-wing rag!

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 22, 2008 06:34 PM

Well.

After years of John McCain basking in the glow of NYTimes-conferred maverick status, after enjoying heaps of praise from the open-borders editorial board for his shamnesty efforts, and after touting the NYTimes editorial endorsement on the McCain campaign website just eight short months ago, Team McCain has discovered — gasp! — that the NYTimes is a pro-Obama propaganda machine.

No, really.

Knock me over with a feather.

I don’t want another President who hems and haws about what is being said by who. I want a President who recognizes they are in the bully pulpit. I want a candidate who recognizes that their words carry some serious weight, and regardless of who delivers the message, the message will get through.

Pres Reagan said he will go over the heads of Congress directly to the people. Presidential Candidates should do the same thing. Go over the heads of the likes of the NYTimes directly to the people. There are ways, and stop whineing.

It’s exactly that kind of blind worship of journalists (of either bias) that has created the problem we have with the media in America today.

Journalists are not perfect. They are human with the same foibles, errors, and bias as any of us lesser mortals, and I cringe when I see people here who think MM should run for office. That’s idiotic. She is no more qualified to run for POTUS than Obama.

No one forced you to post, atheling. It’s ironic to call it boring and a waste and then find the time to comment and be insulting on top of it.

I’ve noticed a pattern here with
Michelle and I’m calling her on it. Got a problem with that?

I have no problem with calling out someone if they have their facts wrong. I also don’t care if you call on someone if you disagree with them. What you did was suggest that her only reason for posting was because she was a hormonal female. That is sad.

Frankly, I do not consider ANY journalist above reproach and criticism, whether conservative or liberal.

Yet, I suppose you consider yourself above reproach for a rude response.

It’s exactly that kind of blind worship of journalists (of either bias) that has created the problem we have with the media in America today.

Glad you were here then. We wouldn’t want anyone making up their own mind about Michelle’s post. /sarc

Journalists are not perfect. They are human with the same foibles, errors, and bias as any of us lesser mortals, and I cringe when I see people here who think MM should run for office. That’s idiotic. She is no more qualified to run for POTUS than Obama.

So to make up for the fact that some here like to complement Michelle (hyperbole or not), you’ll malign her for being a woman?

You know, while we’re at it, I’ll bring up other things I’ve noticed which has caused me to lose a lot of respect for Michelle Malkin.

    1. She has posted this exact same post before, which means she either suffers from a poor memory, or just enjoys engaging in MDS, and bringing it out in all of her followers. It’s a gratuitous post and unworthy of her.

    2. She quoted John McCain speaking to Hispanic voters, and used that quote to prove that he supports amnesty (true), but she failed to insert the rest of his quote (yes, I went to the link and read the entire speech) in which he said that we MUST build The Fence to that audience. The fact that she omitted that statement makes me wonder about her honesty as a journalist, as it seems that she wants everyone to believe that he does not want The Fence.

    3. She has posted on Jeremiah Wright being back again, using the title, “G**damn America!” (omission mine). It really upset and offended many of us Christian (and Jewish) readers here that she took the Lord’s name in vain, and when several of us asked her to change it, she did nothing.

Those are just off the top of my head for now. I’m sure she will provide more reasons in the future, as this election progresses.

I’m not faulting your desire to disagree, just the manner in which you did it. Being a woman doesn’t suddenly make it okay in my opinion.

I get that you’re frustrated, either because you’re a strong McCain supporter or really dislike Obama, but your own posts suggest that Michelle has been rather consistent in her concern about McCain’s pandering to the left. It’s not as though she suddenly switched at some point. It seems more likely that you share some of the frustration that many here express that Michelle doesn’t support McCain more now that it’s September. It’s an angst born out, I believe, by the fact that Michelle has not changed, rather than that she has.

I stand by my previous statement that I thought the PMS comment was rude. I say that as someone that would also like to see more support for McCain, but won’t write him a blank check, either. Michelle’s opinion isn’t going to make or break this election. That’s for Sen. McCain to win or lose.

If anyone doubts that the NY Times is an extension of the Obama campaign, just read the Tuesday article about McCain’s debate plans. The writer of the article states matter of factly that “McCain will distort the record” of Obama. This is not in an editorial, mind you but in the body of a news article. Then read the separate article about Obama’s plans. There is not a word about Obama ever “distorting” the record or views of any opponent. Not a word about Obama falsely stating that McCain wants “one hundred years of war” in Iraq, not a word about Obama referring to the “Bush-McCain tax plan” (that McCain voted against), not a word about Obama running ads that accuse McCain of antiHispanic racism. This is the same New York Times that has such “objective” reporters as Christopher Hedges, Seymour Hersch, Anthony Lewis, and Walter Duranty.

Indeed Atheling, this has been a season where I have seen the above too with so-called conservative politiicians and theologians holding hands with libs.

I also admit there are some days I don’t even go on the internet here or anywhere because I need a break from this season of insanity…however, I will still cut Michelle Malkin a break, even though I can see your points tonight on what you have brought up….I don’t think though she has gone against her established viewpoints that I have seen her developed over the years…if I saw that then I would be perturbed.

Yup, Salt. And it’s not very reassuring to find McCain is just now getting a clue about the NYT. Someone should have him write “The media is not my friend” 1000 times on a chalkboard. Then he should run against it – Americans at heart are not fond of the MSM and he would get a lot of average Joe cred & mileage if he took it to task with some “plain talk”.

Only if they are thinking. McCain doesn’t have much time left to figure it out. Forget seeking admiration from the media and, instead, tag it as being totally in the tank for Obama.

If his camp really has it’s thinking cap on it would catagorize the upccming debates as a “tag team match”; McCain vs. Obama & the media. Even SNL nailed the medias’ adoring & fawning over Obama over Clinton in it’s debate skits.

What RetFireman just said bears repeating:
