The Gaffe Twins strike again

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 23, 2008 10:42 AM

Geez, I thought McCain was off to a bad start this week.

Then along came the Gaffe Twins again.

Joe Biden’s trashing his campaign’s moronic e-mail attack ad: “Terrible.”

Barack Obama’s trashing Joe Biden’s initial refusal to back the AIG bailout: He “should have waited.”

Joe Biden’s changing the campaign’s position on clean coal: He’s against it. Obama’s for it. (Vid is here.)

And via reader Richard J:

Michelle & Co. -

Looks like Joe Biden, in his interview with Katie Couric, was copying off the wrong classmate’s exam again. He said (video here):

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”

My recollection is that the stock market crash was in 1929. Two problems here: Television did not even exist in 1929, and FDR was elected in 1932, so he wasn’t even the leader at the time of the crash. When Joe was in history class, was he cheating by looking over the class dunce’s shoulder, or does he just make this stuff up? Of course, TV celebrity Katie Couric also didn’t note that Biden’s statement was doubly incorrect. Her goal was a softball puff piece.”

I’m a mil absentee voter and just received my ballot yesterday. (mailing it in tomorrow :) That being said how can they change running mates now and have a valid election with ballots already being sent and returned?

Would that kind of change invalidate the current ballets and force them to print/send out a new one. And what would happen if they couldn’t print and send new ballots out in time for them to be returned by election day? Would the old ballots count?
Also if they did this could this open the chance of some ballots that were supposed to be thrown out, not thrown out and counted. What would happen if they changed the order on the new ballots and placed the one party where the other was on the first ballot that the old ballots are counted but votes for one party get miss counted for another????

A change now could open things up for a lot of potential voter fraud/ballot manipulation.

Actually, Richard J is incorrect in some of his facts. Television did, in fact, exist in 1929.

Yup, Philo Farnsworth got the idea of using scanlines for electronic video transmission while he was plowing on his farm. He debuted the first public transmission in 1928. Before that was mechanical TV – a couple links for the curious:

I think the debates, barring a complete screw up by McCain, should finish these knuckleheads.

Sounds like they’re setting up for a Biden exit and a Hillary entrance…

I agree with “setting up for a Biden exit”, but I’m still not convinced that Hillary Clinton would be the replacement.

I continue to believe that Obama is the RusCom candidate, while Clinton and McCain are the ChiCom candidates.

If Obama replaces Biden, I think it will be with a RusCom woman…
    Nancy Pelosi, perhaps?

As for McCain, his stands on Amnesty and AGW taxes are in alignment with Hillary and the ChiComs. I believe that the only reason McCain picked Palin is because Huckabee and his delegates from multiple states were ready to walk out of the convention if McCain picked a pro-choice VP.

A lot goes on behind the scenes…

John McCain did a lot of questionable things to get the Republican Nomination. For those who want more explanation of what I mean, search my past posts on my blog. “Values Voters” are America’s largest voting block, and after refusing to attend “Values Voters” Debates twice, McCain finally conceded the VP slot when it became clear that not doing so could have cost him the Republican nomination. That’s behind us now, and McCain made a wise choice to foresake his original VP choice and go with a VP that has electrified both fiscal and social conservatives.

John “Agent of Intolerance” McCain gets my vote because Sarah! gives me hope that things actually can change in Washington, D.C.

If you liked the “Reagan Revolution“, the sequel will be even better:
    the “Palin Revolution“.

Because the media will play a game of gotcha. If you have dozens/hundreds/thousands of reporters, probably almost all of them will be able to ask at least ONE question that she will not know the answer to.

And then that reporter and everyone else will jump on the bandwagon of “AH HA!!!!”

I doubt it, especially after all the angles they were playing on how Gov. Palin was vetted.

I think Obama is stuck with Biden. It’s too late to make any sort of play now and a switch would not really help him, even if it is Hillary. If they were going to make a change, it would have happened when Biden was claiming that Hillary was more qualified than him.

None of this is new with Biden, so the Obama camp should have known what they were getting. If he and Obama are going to spend the rest of the time throwing each other under the bus to explain away their missteps on the campaign, I’ll be happy to make the popcorn and watch.

There is also a fear that a Hillary/Obama ticket would be too much change for certain white, male voters. There is also the fact that many moderate/independent men despise Hillary Clinton. Have you seen the polls on where Hillary ranks on the trust and honesty factors? There’s no way in hell Obama would pick Hillary Clinton as veep.

I’d say an all out push is needed to force the media into investigating Obama. The ratings for just a one hour special on his shady Chicago connections (inc. Ayers) by itself would be through the roof. That’s if they were more interested in reporting and ratings than being cheerleaders for Obama.

LOL. No it’s all good Double P. As you can see I have received two comments today insulting me, out of the “blue”. I rarely if ever draw first blood with a personal insult. I would think that the insultfests are boring to most readers, but some on your side feel the need to start up. Some days I’ll play in the cesspool with them. Some days I won’t.

    Anyway.
I explained the problems with Hillary in a prior post. I spoke of my admiration of Biden on prior threads. Biden has a tadbit of “footinmouth” disease, but I’ll take his experience and tenacity with it. I’m happy with the democratic ticket.

No change. I still would like to watch racists and other evil people die. If you feel insulted that I would write such nasty things about racists and the like, that’s your problem. However, that’s not the topic of this thread is it? There’s been no change at all Cheryl, but if my feelings on humanity bother you, I really don’t care. Your point has nothing to do with personal insults and who get’s the ball rolling on them.

Now that is a lie Cheryl. I’ve only written it to a handful of people, who like you, feel the need to intiate insultfests with me. I don’t think I have made the initial comment to, or about you in 2-3 months(maybe more). There are people that I get along with fine here, strictly debating the issues. Then there are those like you, who initiate personal name-calling and snarky behavior. When there are people on this thread that bore me, or whose views I consistently loathe, I ignore their comments. Try it sometime. I guess we’ll see whether or not you continue to want to play in the gutter down the road, or simply just ignore each other. Until then, good luck getting me out of your head.

Please refresh my recollection about the reference AlohaGuy. I just know Hillary could bring a “whole lotta bad”. I wavered for a while on whether she should be on the ticket, but I stand buy my prior post on the subject.

If Obama loses, I bet and hope he waits at least until 2016 due to Obama fatigue. Hillary will have 2012 all to herself to show what she has. I think your side would LOVE to go against Hillary. I don’t for one second believe that she could win a general election with her baggage, and the dislike so many have for her. There is also Clinton fatigue going on IMHO, and I doubt if she could get young folks out to vote. She has been a good democratic soldier since the convention though, and I appreciate that.
