David Letterman: In the tank

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 24, 2008 06:23 PM

John McCain cancels his appearance on David Letterman over the bailout frenzy and Letterman replaces him with…Keith Olbermann.

And then he piles on with Metamucil jokes and war hero mockery.

Pssst. Dave. The old-age jokes are getting…old.

And Olbermann? Guess it makes sense. He’s the ultimate Stupid Human Trick.

    You don’t stand alone.

I do hope, and pray, that he’s been listening, and doesn’t go along with the bailout – in any of its incarnations.

“With freedom comes responsibility. Those who would have self-government must, by definition, govern themselves. Self-government only works when people act responsibly and fulfill their obligations. When people abuse these freedoms to enrich themselves at the expense of others, then the public will demand the government to step in. That is how government grows, and how freedom is diminished. …When the government [takes over part of the private sector], it replaces irresponsible executives with unaccountable bureaucrats. That takes us out of the frying pan and into the fire.”
    —Ken Blackwell

I would add that IMO those guilty of enriching themselves at the expense of others includes people who took out home mortgages that they couldn’t afford – some of whom simply walked away from that responsibility.

Sadly, I know some who’ve done just that, and I’m not happy with the prospect that my husband and I, who’ve been waiting to own rather than rent, not only will lose that opportunity, but have to pay for the mortgages of others.

Olbermann is the most vile sub-human I’ve ever witnessed on TV (and that includes JackAss Cafferty and Dan Blather).

To see Olbermann’s head explode if McCain were to win is — all itself — reason enough to vote for McCain.

At the end of the day, what’s more important, backfilling a guest absence on Letterman or protecting constituents’ assets in the face of a knee-jerk, taxpayer-funded bailout? I never trust McCain when he’s working the media but this action represents a huge risk he certainly thought through before announcing.

Wow – I guess that means Letterman hates America and wants the terrorists to win?

If McCain is such a great leader, he would be able to campaign and decide how to vote on the bailout at the same time.

And Obama flaking on SNL was what – a sign of reliability? Get real already, Obama is over and it’s time to face it!

    Obama can!

Corrected for you: “Obama can” – do nothing unless it is in the script and phonetically written out on the prompter!

    And McCain is old.

Ageism? Really? Denigrating our country’s most noble citizenry, not to mention most relaible voting block, as matter of discourse? Oh, well.

Actuarial tables give him a 1/3 chance of dying in his first term. Putting something in his Metamucil is like putting something in Obama’s arugula.

Man, you really have gone ’round the bend when morbidity becomes a method of argument.

I know LGM is a GOP plant sent here to incite and keep us fervent in our support for President McCain, but I find his entire post over the top offensive and I hope MM removes it.

Here, in esssence is what I wrote to CBS this morning:

I have taped the Letterman Show every night for the past 25 years or more for viewing the next day.

Last nite was not the first straw, but it certainly was the last straw.

Letterman, like other show biz libs are too stupid to realize that when they mouth off, they are alienating half of their audience.

I heard an interview with Ernest Borgnine last week. He was asked who he was going to vote for. He said I don’t discuss that. Half of my fans are on one side and half of them are on the other. I’m not going to insult any of them.

    What a wise answer.

Letterman has as much between his ears as he does between his front choppers.

I will never ever watch him again, and as of tonight, I will begin taping Leno every night.

Does Letterman realize that he is an idiot?

    Nah… probably not.

I stop watching that show ages ago.
