The Jann Wenner slime machine cranks up again

Jann Wenner, the left-wing media mogul who publishes Palin-bashing Us Weekly and Obama-deifying Rolling Stone magazine, is at it again.
I have received several reports that MichelleMalkin.com readers or their family members have received free, unsolicited copies of the latest Oct. 2 Rolling Stone issue in their mailboxes. The latest issue just happens to have the headline “The Lies of Sarah Palin” splashed all over it. An excerpt of the PDS-infected Matt Taibbi’s screed:
Palin is a symbol of everything that is wrong with the modern United States. As a representative of our political system, she’s a new low in reptilian villainy, the ultimate cynical masterwork of puppeteers like Karl Rove. But more than that, she is a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power. Not only is Sarah Palin a fraud, she’s the tawdriest, most half-assed fraud imaginable, 20 floors below the lowest common denominator, a character too dumb even for daytime TV — and this country is going to eat her up, cheering her every step of the way. All because most Americans no longer have the base energy to do anything but lie back and allow ourselves to be jacked off by the calculating thieves who run this grasping consumer paradise we call a nation…
…She appeared to be completely without shame and utterly full of shit, awing a room full of hardened reporters with her sickly-sweet line about the high-school-flame-turned-hubby who “five children later,” is “still my guy.” It was like watching Gidget address the Reichstag.
Obama cultist Jann Wenner is desperately clogging mailboxes, giving this crap away. And it seems they are targeting young people.
Reader Nancy M. in Virginia e-mails:
Dear Michelle – I was surprised to pull Oct. 2 issue of Rolling Stone magazine out of my mailbox day before yesterday addressed to my 20 year old college daughter. I asked her if she had subscribed and she said no. After the US mag cover and hatchet job on Sarah Palin and knowing same person owns both mags, I think this might be a subtle way to influence young 1st time voters in presidential race. We live in Virginia and I have heard it’s a toss up state. Rolling Stone cover headline says “The Lies of Sarah Palin.” Magazine calls her a “tawdry, half-assed fraud.” The article is disgusting. Was this just a random thing or was the magazine sent unsolicited to quantities of young voters?
Reader Jason in Texas e-mails:
I am a resident of Texas. Today I received a free version of Rollingstone magazine in the mail (with my name). I have never subscribed to the magazine. I have only ever subscribed to the Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
The headline at the top (with a cover of Metallica) says “The Lies of Sarah Palin” — inside a hit piece.
Since the guy that owns the magazine is an Obama supporter – is this legal, so close to an election?
Regards,
Jason
Question: Where did they get the mailing list?

Update: Reader Steve has some good advice if this piece of trash shows up in your mail…
Advise your readers to mark in big, block letters (use a black Sharpie pen if you have one), across the front of the unsolicited Rolling Stone magazines received: REFUSED. Place the marked item back into the U.S. Mails, at any mailbox including your own, and the USPS will return the magazine to the publisher, at the publisher’s cost in postage.
You’re allowed to do this with any item received that you did not order, request or solicit, with the postage “reversed” to the sender, whether it says “return postage guaranteed,” or not. As Mr. Wenner, a jerk of the highest order, is wont to send things to people unsolicited, he should be inundated with returned issues of his rag all with “Refused” slashed across their covers — just desserts, indeed! [This from a Rolling Stone reader and subscriber back in the early '70's, but not since!].

The more they spew this over-the-top hatred, the easier it is to see through it. When you remove any notion of objectivity, and add the hyperbole seen here, you limit your audience to the choir you already own.
Anyone receiving a free copy of this rag should write “Return-to-Sender” on the front and make the publisher pay for double postage in sending it out in the first place.
Sounds more like they’re talking about Obama.
The last time this was tried (see US magazine) it failed miserably. What is with liberals and their sticktoitiveness regarding failed policies and campaigns?
Honestly, I have recieved free unsolicited issues of Rolling Stone before. That was intended to solicit subscriptions.
The timing of this, along with the headline and article would lead me to believe that this is a campaign contribution, this time around. And what a pitiful contribution it is too.
Note, if you go to the magazines web site they have a comments button.
Take the subscription cards with ‘Postage Paid’ printed on it, glue it to a concrete block, and send it in.
Then get on LimeWire and download some free tunes.
Taibbi’s Dad is a douche bag. I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Mailing lists are like viruses and get passed around all the time. This guy Wenner sounds like he has fingers in so many pies, it probably wasn’t that difficult. For a while I was on the Sierra Club mailing list (I have no idea how) and of course there was that PBS member scandal a few years back. Like many people, I had foolishly contributed to a local PBS station. Naturally, it was assumed those people were democrats and mailing lists all over the country were getting up and walking over to democrat party headquarters. That was the last time I ever gave to PBS.
Magazines are never returned to the sender – they are disposed of. Third class mail rules, I believe.
Gee, maybe the NYT will quote this article, as it’s “news fit to print.” My ##@@ it is.
Who cares? These perverts are preaching to themselves anyway. There is no logical analysis whatsoever in these hit screeds, certainly nothing that would convince a thinking person.
This is completely normal political commentary, of the kind MM posts daily about Obama. One striking difference: the Rolling Stone piece didn’t have any lies in it. No claims that Palin had killed the bridge to nowhere or that Obama was a Muslim or (as Limbough did this week) that Obama is an Arab.
Who the hell is Matt Taibbi? He has obviously attended the Barack Obozo Academy of Oratory Codswallop, for he rattles on line after tawdry line while saying nothing except “I don’t like her.” What a waste of good trees and ink this rag is.
It must be true now! lmao
go back under your rock.
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!
McCain/Palin 08′
I’m so glad I grew out of this rag when I was 12 and started reading real adult publications.
Juvenile at best.
Better if she were a drunken heroin-addicted sexmaniac spewing filthy lyrics out of a talentless gob, like the people Rolling Stone is usually enamored with.
I looked through a Rolling Stone mag once. Once!
they got the mailing list from rhapsody or many of the other musice sites that some may belong. if you have an mp3 player and download from sites regularly, well they can get the address from there. rolling stone and music downloads not much of a stretch to connect the dots…
As AJ would say:
They fear her.
awing a room full of hardened worshipers with his sickly-sweet line about the angry-black-lawyer-women-turned-wiffie who “2 children later,” is “My babies daddie.” It was like watching a World Citizen savior address the Reichstag.
You do know there is a difference between michelle malkin and the people who comment here right?
DEE DEE DEE
The sad part is, that many young people with limited life experience, a bit of hormonal rebellion, and the ‘know it all’ attitude of youth, will read this and believe it.
I’m not sure if this editor has unresolved juvenile issues to deal with, or if this is just a lack of an ability to concentrate longer than a few seconds at a time. He’s probably just another misguided commie dupe who spouts socialism but lives high on capitalism.
Cheney / Palin 08
Hey liberals!!! SARAH PALIN IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!
lgm, you got a problem with Arabs? obama has Arab in his lineage, it is part of the name. if you know anything about ethnicity, the name means everything. he probably has about as much arab as I do. See my Grandpa was from Africa, had an Arabic name it isn’t because he is or was Muslim, but because he has Arabic lineage. You do realize they are close enough geographically for this to be true, right?
That being said, Obama is probably just as much Arab as he is Black as he is White..
Everyday on campus, there the ACORN parasites are, begging and cajoling students to sign up for voting. to sign some petition or another.
The more weak looking the student, the higher the pressure on them to sign up. I see it everyday.
This is not just issue indoctrination, it is also data-mining.
…or that lgm is a brilliant man.
I suppose you think character assignation is a good thing. Oh, she is a Republican.
Nevermind. Idiot
So many adjectives & insults in that paragraph from the article…
I looked through it & couldn’t find the support for the venom.
Oh, wait; Mr Taibbi’s background appears to be an audience member at the Reichstag?
What in blazes does Mr. Taibbi mean by this?
I’m not surrendering anything to anybody, Mr Taibbi. I’m a registered voter. As long as I wake up not living in Communist China (or Sen. Obama’s equivalent), it’s a right I will continue to exercise. And you can take your diatribe and stick it.
If you mean Rush Limbaugh then it Never Happened!
If you mean some person you know named “Limbough” then who cares.
I personally wouldn’t worry about this rag at all. They’re preaching to the choir. Worthless, useless idiots.
Here’s the link to the online article and comment page:

I once let a girl talk me into subscribing to Rolling Stone for a year. The vile articles by William Greider were one of the main factors involved in me changing my registration from Democrat to Republican.
Also, the more a band sucks the more the Rolling Stone reveres them. R.E.M.? Give me a break.
With all due respect to Mrs Malkin, I have to say that Matt Taibbi is dead right and I couldn’t agree more with him. Sarah Palin is a FRAUD and a liar. It’s a shame we have people like her in this great country. I’m gonna forward Matt Taibbi’s article to all of my friends!!! lol
Hmmm…can’t say as I’ve read anything remotely like this about Obama:
“All because most Americans no longer have the base energy to do anything but lie back and allow ourselves to be jacked off by the calculating thieves who run this grasping consumer paradise we call a nation.”
Your ability to connect dots is in serious jeopardy.
O NOES
both of them?
Wonder if this violates any campaign finance regulations? It’s clearly a political statement. Authorized and paid for by whom? Shouldn’t this have to be declared by someone as paid political advertising?
In other words, Governor Palin is no Amy Winehouse–and Rolling Stone thinks that’s a bad thing.
And the scary part of this is . . . Gidget ??
It’s the hallmark of an adolescent to think that lacing one’s speech with obscenities adds credibility.
It’s the mark of another adolescent to listen to obscenity-laced but otherwise substance-free speech and think, “Wow, that’s really persuasive!”
I wouldn’t worry too much about this attempt to sway opinions about Sarah Palin. Anyone who reads that article and comes away thinking, “Gee, my mind wasn’t made up but now it is!” was a lost cause to begin with or not old enough to vote.
Most people who even bother to read the kind of mental illness on display in the Rolling Stone hit piece are more likely not to wonder about the authenticity of Sarah Palin, but rather about the sanity of the writer.
And for good reason.
But Sarah and most other people are too smart to read, let alone buy, a rag like Rolling Stone. Why else do you think they’re giving it away free. Next they’ll be paying people to subscribe.
I hope they never learn that articles like this do not turn people away from Gov. Palin. With such vile and hate it makes her out to be a sympathetic character and will only harden conservative support. Keep sending these out MM.
I was thinking more about that 300 pound engine flywheel that’s sitting across the room from me.
Rolling Stone like so many other left wings organizations survive off of what they revile.
Capitalism.
Come on kids “hate capitalism”
Just ignore the capitalistic cover price of our magazine. It is for the greater good.
p.s. definition of greater good to be posted behind the 3rd filing cabinet to the left of the 2nd door, in the 4th sub-basement of Jann Wenner’s 5th summer home open from 9 am to 9:01 am every 5th tuesday of months ending in “L” in years evenly divisible by 17.
This is completely normal political commentary,
of the kind MM posts daily about Obamafor the left. One striking difference: the Rolling Stone piece didn’t have anyliestruth in it.She did.
You really should stop saying that because I don’t think it’s true.
Since that has already been addressed, I won’t bother telling you it’s true and by the way, that’s not a bad thing.
His backwards tax, spend and giveaway policies are what make him a terrible candidate. Oh, then there is that lack of experience issue that only comes up with Palin, but somehow Obama has tons of it.
Rolling Stone is a music magazine that dabbles in politics. If I were Metallica, I’d be pi**ed. I can’t wait until their glowing review for “W” the movie.
Michelle,
You asked where they get their mailing list ?
I’m in the data world and voter files, consumer files, resident occupancy with names where available files, are all, very available.
Just sayin…..
Rolling Stone did a net name swap with a few different publishers in a “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours ” kind of a way…thus the daughter receiving the mag instead of the mom ?
Demographic analysis at it’s very fundamental level.
It’s obvious that the Obamamites are getting desperate, grasping on straws of lies and vile innuendoes to keep them from sinking.
I forgot, the diatribe is addressed to the Rolling Stones’ readership who’re as gullible as lambs that’s being led to the slaughterhouse.
My dad received mail with his final miltary rank for over 20 years after his retirement (e.g. Col. Squirrel). Those lists float forever.
Nowdays, I rarely give out my info, but when I do, I will make “mistakes” in my name and will create email addresses that I may check once or twice just to see what “list” and by whom I got tagged by. I also have a home conference call/fax numbers that I will never answer or hear ring.
I’m pretty surprised that Metallica (the new album is great, by the way!) would agree to be on the cover with that headlines. Maybe they didn’t have a say in it. Regardless, I don’t read Rolling Stone, and never will.
Rolling Stone put Eddie Van Halen at number 70 in the top 100 guitarists…..they don’t even have any musical credentials, much less political.
Ed is at LEAST top 10.
Absolutely. I was just wondering about your name, if it was guitar related. I guess it is.
edelweiss: That article is full of spin or outright lies. Not that an
Obama follower would notice the difference anymore.
WHAT?!?
Oh yeah, that magazine is completely clueless. Not only don’t they give proper credit to one of the greatest guitarists of this generation, but then add a bunch of leftist drivel written by an Obama cultist.
Throw the rag where it belongs – in the trash.
After reading some of the comments on the site, it scares and reminds me that there are people out there who still believe all the lies about Palin that have been debunked. It’s all a conspiracy to them. I don’t like Obama, but these people absolutely hate any Rep. or conservative. In their eyes, we are all stupid or racist because we’re not voting for Obama.
Michelle,
You should remove the Grym View link. Ted Nugent is not the frontman for them, he is not involved with Metallica. Depending on your interpretation, the front man is either Lars Ulrich or James Hetfield.
As much as I like Ted Nugent and this site, I don’t want fodder for the Koskids.
Go McCain/Palin 08!!!
NO BAILOUT!!!
Thanks,
Rob
Agreed.
Then again, this is the same silly outfit that put Madonna in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Pretty much tells you everything you need to know, doesn’t it?
Since the Reichstag was infested with liberals, this statement doesn’t fit.
However, this one does: Obama’s speeches sound much better in their original German.
Rolling Stone won’t be at the checkout counter in the supermarket. But, if you wander over to the magazine rack, turning them backwards or putting them behind other mags will so confuse the people that read this rag, none will sell.
BTW, lgm, liberals don’t have friends. They have fellow-travelers who will dump them the minute they stray from the orthodoxy. Try telling your 2 two friends that you do admire Gov. Palin and see if they keep talking to you. It’s a test. I’ve seen the outcome many times and its always the same.
“Taibbi” must mean “feminine hygiene product” in his ancestral land.
I think “Werner” is the German word for that too.
They may want to call the Better Business Bureau and inquire whether this practice is a fraudulent way of padding the subscriber base to rasie ad rates.
Also inquiring how people got on the mailing list is another way of nailing them for fraud, unless the label on the magazine address label is to “occupant”.

Eddie must not be giving enough to the DNC.
The fact is: Sarah Palin has told an awful lot of bona-fide lies. She’s a liar. Why is everyone on the right avoiding these lies and pretending they don’t exist?
I meant to respond to you on another thread yesterday….. now I have to figure out which one it was and what I wanted to ask you. hmmm
(disregard until further notice)
The two basic Democrat arguments against Republican presidents are “dumb” or “mean.” Look at the pattern:
Hoover: mean
Eisenhower: dumb
Nixon: mean
Ford: dumb
Reagan: dumb and mean (he was a big threat to them!)
Bush 41: mean (with potential successor Quayle set up as dumb)
Bush 43: dumb (potential successor Cheney: mean)
So now McCain is targeted as mean, with potential successor Palin targeted as dumb.
I think the pattern will continue to hold up way better than any global warming model!
“Gidget addressing the Reichstag”? Is he serious? This annalogy doesn’t work, let alone even make sense. This is the same as Professor Fakieinjun calling the murder victims “Little Eichmanns”, proving his stupidity and ignorance as to who and what Eichmann was. LLiberals love to toss out na,es of Nazis and Nazi items, yet they have absolutely no clue as to the historical realitues of that which they referrence.
Should we say that Obama’s speech was like watching Senator Byrd address the National Klan Rally?
Nah…too close to reality.
Send back any and all publications with anything that resembles hit pieces and cancel any and all subscriptions as well. Send the message to the only place they understand…their wallets.
Odhimmi is right. Enouigh is enough.
That’s like asking why dogs can’t see colors…

Now you got me wondering.
If we didn’t have to spend so much time exposing all the liberals lies, half-truths and deceptions (like your statements above) we would have have more time to devote to analyzing conservatives. So don’t blame us. It is a thankless job but somebody has to do it.
Ok – we’ll play: You name the lie and we’ll address it.
Actually the global temperature shows a high reverse correlation with the number of pirates. Pirate attacks went down, global temperatures went up. Stop global warming, bring back pirate attacks.
he is a fairly liberal thinker….but has some libertarian tendancies as well….kind of across the board.
he knows some intersting people.
Because OMU, most of the smares coming from the left are outright lies. For example, Palin did not ask for any books to be banned. Yes she did support the bridge to no where but in the end changed her mind. She is allowed to do that. etc etc etc.
That article from rolling stones was flat out dishonest. They call Palin dumb when they VP they support not only thought FDR was president in 1929, but he also said he spoke to the nation on TV after the stock market crashed.
Oh and both Obama and Biden voted FOR the bridge to no where.
There are no lies in a story titled “The Lies of Sarah Palin”?
Doesn’t that kind of make Michelle’s point, lgm? They attempt to slime Sarah Palin without providing a single, verifiable example to backup their premise. Yes, “This is completely normal political commentary” in your twisted world – unless a Democrat is the target.
Where did OMU and his liberal buddies go?
DID YOU AND YOUR LIBERAL FREINDS KNOW BOTH OBAMA AND BIDEN VOTED FOR THE BRIDGE TO NO WHERE?
sonofdy,
1st logic doesn’t work.
2nd because they cannot beat us in the arena of ideas, they will resort to calling Republicans stupid, dumb, etc.
I find it laughable that Bush’s drinking was brought up by MSM and others, but you sure don’t hear much about Obama’s past problems. The double standard is apparent to anyone willing to open their eyes.
Palin has told many lies, the bridge to nowhere scandal is just one of them. She did not merely change her mind, she supported it right up until she was elected governor and then lied and said she told politicians “thanks but no thanks” on it. She did not do that. This is a bare faced lie, there is no way to refute that.
Can I play too?
Emu (lgm?), cast the first softball please so we can bash it out of the park.
As the govvernor of Alaska, she did not have a vote in Congress TO support the bridge to nowhere.
No that is called changing your mind. GGGEEEZZZ is that really the best you can do??? By that logic by changing your mind on what flavor ice cream you want you are lying.
CR, you want this one?
She did change her mind when her constituents told her “no way”! That’s what politicians are supposed to do. If you want to say she flip flopped, go right ahead, but calling her a liar is extreme because she did kill the bridge in the end.
Next.
It was not a scandal but a pork project.
NEXT!
Omu – has Palin acknowledged she previously supported the bridge? Has she stated why she changed her position? Was she involved in getting the bridge stopped? Did she in do the right thing for the taxpayers of Alaska?
So with all of that said – I’m still trying to find “the lie”. And you’ve claimed “MANY” lies.
Time out while omu goes to check with DK, DU, etc. to get more lies.
Ha! The Stone heads just got my *salty* reply to their Palin-bashing antics.
Take that you elitist media weenies!
Which both Biden and Obama voted for and McCain voted against. This is fun.
Come on OMU, whats the next palin “lie”
I LOVE Rolling Stone magazine!
It fits perfectly in the bottom of my parrots cages….
…ironic, yes?
I’d be worried if Rolling Stone endorsed her. As it stands, most Americans don’t look the that rag anymore for music reviews much less political commentary.
Yeah, I love it. The left is actually running against our veep nominee. Their desperation is amazing. Their fear about a veep nominee just shows how desperate they are to win. Win at all costs, lie at any cost.
Well that explains the original meaning of Shiver me timbers!
Cue “Jeopardy” theme.
Check this out!
Emu lied
Many lies =
onenone? This magazine arrived along with this years nominations for the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, also heavily influenced by Jann Wenner and Rollings Stone. No KISS nomination again….
Look at the bright side. We paid for it what its worth.
Jeez – I guess Rolling Stone also hates America?
Seems like George Will thinks McCain has lost his mind; so now we can add George Will to list of people & organizations that hate America.
