Some news to cheer you up

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 25, 2008 10:01 AM

The Code Pink zealots who bullied the Marines at the recruiting center in Berkeley– and accused our troops of serving as assassins– have given up.

They’ve packed up their Bush-bashing signs and retreated.

Protest Shooter has the story and some pics.

You’ll get a snort or two out of the Pinkos’ insistence that they have “prevailed.”

Moonbat math: Defeat = victory.

Raise a toast to the counterinsurgency in Berkeley.

You did it!

1.2 million dead? As sonofdy posts a 7.2 million casualty figure, that would be more than a quarter of the population. Wow.

Normally one would have to engage in total war for that kind of carnage. Good thing we are only an occupier.

A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent.

The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood.

Hey, thanks for the link, Michelle!

One thing that’s kind of funny about things like the 1.2 million is it sounds so precise, but at a larger protest if you have six signs with death counts every single one will have a different number. And it doesn’t seem to bother them - they just roll with it.

Obviously on a larger scale code pink will keep doing their thing but it’s nice to see the Berkeley group running out of steam. They never did get any kind of popular support even in Berkeley.

This may come as a shock to many of you, but I can see California as a whole moving in a conservative direction. With some serious, competent, long term commitment from the Republican party, California could be in play in future national elections. Sarah Palin could be elected governor here.

Use Proposition 8 as your litmus test. I will have hope for Kalifornia only if we reverse the acivist supreme court gay marriage decision. Even then, without redistricting, the democrats have the state government in the bag. My dream is that starting in 2010 we can get rid of Ahnuld, Boxer and Feinstein.

I don’t think you should use the gay marriage as a litmus test of California Conservatives. In a state like California, with a higher percentage of gays and lesbians than most states, everyone (including Conservatives) has a friend, relative or co-worker that falls into the “alternative lifesytle” category. Just because gay marriage may rank around #10 on the list of conservative issues, that doesn’t mean their conservative views as a whole should be dismissed.

On the issue of redistricting, you are right, and Arnold wants to change that. I live in a generally conservative town with a lot of military retirees (it has one of the highest per capita Iraq troop casualty rates in the country). In my state assembly district, I share the same district with people over the hills and 20 miles away. Yet, the people across the street live in another district. The people across the other street live in a third district. We all live in the same conservative town, are seperated into three assembly districts and yet hear nothing from local, state or national Republicans working to change this.

I think California conservatives are getting a little lot irritated at being ignored by the Republican party. Good luck winning with McCain in the November election.
