“Unfortunately”
A reader noticed something interesting while exploring Barack Obama’s voter registration website, Vote for Change. If you answer “no” to a question about U.S. citizenship, you get this screen:

Says reader Chad: “I just thought it was interesting that the Obama campaign thought that it was ‘unfortunate’ that only US citizens could vote for him in our election. Maybe if he gets in he will rectify that wrong as well.”

Liberal blame America for not being so morally perfect as they view themselves. A good example would be somebody that says Americans are racist and should be be more accepting of diversity while living in a place that is 98% white.
And shi si proudly so. But the question is why did Goldwater feel compelled to bring it up out of the blue unless he thought it bolstered whatever point he was making?
So…Goldwater was either being homophobic or gratuitous.
“she is”
Chap,
I can’t read GK’s mind, but I think it’s really presumptuous to say he’s homophobic because he doesn’t have anything in common and doesn’t watch Maddow. Besides, he was responding the how popular she and Olbermann are.
In addition, I’d like to say that we’re getting into dangerous territory when someone is branded a homophobe for one statement and a racist because one doesn’t vote for Obama or uses the words “community organizer”.
Glad I could amuse you.
Sorry kid, but that doesn’t fly with me. America is guilty of nothing but having a big heart!
I’m talking about a b-u-d-g-e-t! That little thing American families do to keep from spending more than they earn. A surplus is an anthema to a free, prosperous society; it means government is burdening its citizens and crowding out investment. It is an inducement to unemployment, poverty and the ill-effects of a lack of innovation and self-determination.
Couldn’t disagree more! I’m a big fan of Sean, Bill and Ann and have never found them offensive. As for those liberals you mentioned, they are why we keep PMSNBC locked-out; they’ve built careers out of mindless ridicule.
All the more reason you should be home. I love KY but if I could convince my family, I’d be job hunting in Texas tomorrow!
Rachel looks like a man and seems to stutter almost as bad as Obama. I guess her lesbian credentials give her a leg up in the um, oh, um department. Do I seem obtuse?
Seriously, kid, you have got to come back home and reground yourself. You’re spelling isn’t the only thing that exposes your Europeanization!
Oh, yeah, I get it, you mean like Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, right? And those intellectuals in Code Pink, of course. Oh, let’s not forget Al Franken.
Don’t leave out Jamie “We’re-in-the-Money” Gorelic. She’s loaded! Too bad it was at our expense -
An aborted baby squirming on a cold steel table at the hospital seems sophisticated. Alcee Hastings is full of substance….
DB,tex we must remember that their idea of substance and sophistication is sitting around a pub in a foreign country talking to the local about how American lack substance and sophistication.
OK, I may have succeeded in striking obloquy. “Night Folks!”
Yeah, the smelly, disease carrying kind that infects multitudes and leaves a stain on humanity.
And I’m yet to read where even one national Democrat has denounced him or asked for an apology or offered any sane excuse for such comments.
Well, I was going to say that I merely said he was EITHER homophobic OR gratuitous, but then I read his comment in #104 and he pretty much answered the question himself.
Hello? Obama? Presidential candidate…military experience?
Palin has the responsibility for the Alaska National Guard – I doubt if she takes that lightly. Not the same as having been a grunt, but better than nothing.
Oh wait, Obama spent time at
a military hospital in Germanythe Ritz-Carlton Spa – want to make sure we give him credit. Here’s one Dem who denounced it. That’s all I could find.
On September 25th, 2008 at 9:09 pm,
Yup, that Palin screws up every time she speaks as opposed to the sophisticated and substantive Joe Biden who said:
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,”
It is difficult to believe that the future vice president of the United States doesn’t know who was president in 1929 and can’t get the invention of TV into the right decade.
This guy should skip the ad lib and go with all plagiarism.

Chap, lost this thread for awhile, but yes Palin like all the cadidates should speak for herself, and people can make up their own minds without the personal attacks. As for not speaking much to the press, that’s not unlike Hillary and Obama who both ignored the press for quite awhile and spent time on Oprah, The View, In People Magazine, anyplace they thought friendly. Now that Hillary is out, anyplace in the MSM is “friendly” territory for Obama, who now spends more time there.
Come on Aloha…
You know it is fact that she has zero control over any of its overseas operations and never personally made one single decision when it came to the ANG domestically. She delegated that to ANG Service Commander.
Not one decision. Not one.
I cooked that one up for you chap, wink wink.
The only thing Joe Biden is missing is a rubber clown nose and a horn.
Obama went through 23 debates in the primaries and numerous press conferences. Palin has had 2 real interviews (which she has bombed in both) and that joke of an “interview” with Hannity. I was just surprised Sean didn’t present her with his letter jacket at the end.
You cannot deny that McCain is shielding Palin from the media because hey are afraid that she is unprepared. The excuse that they were mean to her in the first few days is wearing thin.
You mean Obama, right? I’m getting confused here.
I guess this means he’d kick ass on the high school debating team.
An interview with Katie Couric is shielding her? Maybe you should elaborate because that seems spun up.
It at least means he is not afraid to talk to the press.
Her conduct reminds me of another politician, Ronald Wilson Reagan, the best Commander in Chief of my lifetime. He appointed good military leaders, warriors, who understood their profession and then gave them the latitude to do their job. I would have attacked a Soviet Division with a dull steak knife if he had ordered me too. I had trust and confidence it would be for a good reason.
How good was he? Want to see my chunk of the Berlin Wall?
If that’s Palin’s style, she’s a winner!
Ok I’m going to sleep before chap kicks my ass. night.
Why couldn’t she take questions from the press at the UN?
I mean it is a delicate balancing act between limiting her exposure and on the one hand and limiting it so much that it becomes an absolute farce on the other.
And we all know McCain pulled his little “campaign suspension” stunt to draw attwntion from the Couric interview.
Well played Senator, well played.
It’s like talking to his best friends or supporters, so of course he’s comfortable. You cannot deny that the majority of the MSM has nothing but contempt for Gov. Palin.
It is still amazing to me that Bush, who is not a good public speaker, messes up the pronunciation of words, he’s declared an idiot. Obama says “um, ah, um, ah” so many times when he speaks, but he is just thinking about what he’s going to say.
You cannot be serious?
He has been running for president for four years and finally got up the courage to go on FOX. His drama coach must have felt he was finally prepared.
stand up and be counted

That’s one way to put it. But did Palin appoint ANYONE on the ANG?
Recognizing that one is not competent to make military decisions and thus leaving it to those that are may be wise, but it also means you do not get to argue that you have experience as a military leader.
Not entirely.
navywife91,
Bingo and how many politicians have you seen in your lifetime who needed to take a teleprompter to a rodeo?
chap,
I hope you aren’t a trial lawyer. You get your ass handed to you on MM often. Its gotta affect that winning pct.
I am not, but I suspect you and I have very different views as to what an ass handing is.
Not that it has never happened, btw.
But the Mets just won, so who cares about little things like “the future” or “a looming depression.”
LETS GO METS!!!
Come on Navy, the MSM ringers describe that as “searching for the proper nuance”.
His handlers won’t let him make a speech without one now.
Didn’t my sorry a** Braves just beat them the other night?
At least at the end of those uhhs and ahhs, there comes a coherent, usually thoughtful answer, if not one you agree with as opposed to this…
Larry Jones is my mortal enemy.
She hasn’t been running for a year and a half…or whatever it’s been.
But Obama spent all that time avoiding Fox like the plague, fearful of what he might be asked. And in those “debates” Hillary got the hardball questions, Obama not so much.
It’s above my pay grade.
Sure, not saying she has to do an interview every night. But frankly no one knows anything about Palin and it is our right to know what she thinks before we put her a heartbeat or melanoma away from the presidency.
And I recall Obama getting plenty of hard questions thrown his way. As I recall, he was the only one pressed on the idiotic lapel pin issue, even though, ironically enough, not one other person on that stage was wearing one.
Seriously…name one major issue where you could NOT find Obama’s stance, whether you like it or not.
Sometimes, maybe. You might not agree, but I think he’s trying to remember what he’s been told, not necessarily trying to come up with his own thoughts.
BTW, I don’t think Palin is perfect. I wish they’d send her out to answer more questions and state her positions. It seems that no matter what she does or doesn’t do, some people will still despise her because of her views.
I said USUALLY.
But…touche.
Despise her? No. Really really don’t want her as Veep? Sure. And in any case isn’t despising her for her views better than despising her for the R after her name or any of the personal crap that came out at the beginning?
How about his wanting to pull troops immediately out of Iraq( I think he might have changed his mind), but then asked the Iraqi Foreign Minister to delay troop withdrawls.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/09152008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/obama_tried_to_stall_gis_iraq_withdrawal_129150.htm?page=0
That was too easy. How about this?
“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated.”
Yes,the senior guard commander, the Adjutant General, are appointed by the governor. The ratification process, I am sure varies.
Military service is important, but we have had some excellent non-military civilians, in our history. I think an excellent example is FDR. He was a superb Secretary of the Navy, saw the emerging threat of fascism long before WWII in Europe started, and it was his decision despite Pearl Harbor to put primary effort against the Germans.
His general order to Eisenhower in regards to the invasion of Europe is perhaps one of the most concisely written orders ever given. It is a masterpiece. He signed it so he gets credit!
It read, “You will enter the continent of Europe and, in conjunction with the other United Nations, undertake operations aimed at the heart of Germany and the destruction of her armed forces.”
Candidly, I think of the four President and VP nominees, regardless of the subject, given the same set of information, IMHO, Palin most likely has the best decision making skills. She seems steady and decisive without being impulsive.
But that’s just my opinion. Who knows how good MY decsision making skills are?
I believe his stance on NAFTA was a mystery – or deception…
(Too late in the day to go look for the particulars, but I think that was it.)
I’ll be out of here in a few, see you all.
Reading what some people have said about her personally, as well as her family (joking about Todd Palin being a pedophile involving his own daughter?!), I believe it goes beyond her views. She’s been called a racist again, this time by Alcee Hastings.
What happens when you click the Next button? Does it take you to directions to see your local ACORN rabble-rousing thug to get registered anyway?
Uhhh…perhaps he did not want the Bush admin. muscling through a withdrawal agreement that substantially lengthened the time our troops would be committed there, past the time frame Obama would want?
Maybe not accurate. I am sure there were many that felt it would succeed exactly as it has.
But at least coherent and on point.
Hastings was way over the line.
Nice try, how about “Wait until I’m President so I’ll look like a hero even though it was Petraeus.” Did he Betray us yet?
So, you think McCain pulled the DC “stunt” to deflect attention from Palin’s interview with katie, but Obama was just concerned for the troops when he wanted to delay plans for their return home because of the success of the surge? Obama can’t even decide what his time frame is.
His position as publicly announced on NAFTA was one way, while he was quietly telling Canadians just the opposite.
His position on terrorism is exactly the same.
How might that be you ask?
Well, he might claim publicly he would go after terrorists, yet he still coddles the domestic terrorist, Ayers.
What I was furious about was that without regard to his stance he had no right to even broach the subject as a U.S. Senator. You have to trust me on this one. I would have been equally upset with McCain, Hagel, Graham, Kerry, et. all.
If you want to be a purist it’s a violation of the Logan Act.
Chap, we have lost people because our country does not speak with one voice. Whole different subject, but if Obama is elected he’ll be our voice and we can debate his decisions, but NOT in front of the enemy.
I hope McCain goes forward with the debate.
If you remember, the drive-bys were busy proclaiming Oblahblah was going to Florida or somewhere to practice. His plans got screwed up by having to go to DC, so if the debate goes forward, he will be less prepared.
His three days of practice were likely three days of practice for his teleprompter pit crew.
Don’t forget that Obama said the surge was a failure and a bad strategy. Bill O pressed him to admit it was successful.
Again, I was joking about the McCain thing.
And there is a difference between not wanting to be saddled with the commitments a lame duck president wants to make with respect to troop withdrawal and thinking that this means Obama wants to “delay” the withdrawal. I think he has said unequivocally that he wants them out by 2010 or 2011. If Bush were to force some security agreement through that extended that date, it would seriously complicate those efforts.
Chap,
I know you like obama, but I’m really concerned about him being my hubby’s boss. His judgment and associates mean a lot to me because it will affect the way he governs.
Chap,
I guess I haven’t figured out when you’re being facetious.
I completely agree and have heard it discussed, but I’m no expert.

That is really classy Chap! A new sound bite for the left, ” Palin, one melanoma away from the presidency.” Maybe you can work on the next James Dean attack ad, talk about how melanoma is always worth extra in “pain and suffering” in a lawsuit. Maybe the make believe doctors could work in how his arms don’t work too good either.

I’ve got no issue with that.
And now that the dastardly Brewers have won, I am off to bed.
Night all.
That is what he said.
What Bush has said repeatedly is that he wants them out as soon as ground conditions will allow.
Non-functioning arms do not kill someone. Melanoma can.
If you don’t think the health of our candidates is important than I do not know what to say.
And fact of the matter is she IS one melanoma away, as crude as that may sound.
The facts actually are that conservatives are concerned about a candidates health, which is why many thought Clinton’s, Gore’s Kerry’s and Oblahblahs records should have been released.
What did Oblahblah release? A couple of pages from an ear specialist?
He released his info at the end of May.
For what its worth, the Obama campaign needs to step up and release Biden’s as well.
And we need Palin’s.
On September 25th, 2008 at 11:24 pm, chapoutier said:
From what I have read, what was released was pretty paltry. As for Biden, I’d only be interested in the neurology reports…how his tongue works independently from his brain.
You mean some punk hasn’t hacked them yet? For what reason would the left want them? Surely not to prove anything since they don’t seem to mind just making stuff up now.
The same doctor’s report stated “sinus cavities are clear, nasal passages show evidence of scarring. Suspect exposure to some type of chemical irritant snorted into the nose post adolescent years.”

Which candidate are you referring to Hannibal, Clinton, Gore, Kerry or Oblahblah?
The only difference between Bush and Obama in this regard is that Obama admitted to coke use.
I think that’s what the Code Pink chick was saying as she was dragged out of the GOP convention. At least that’s the word on the street.
Odly enough, I haven’t read anywhere about them missing you.
Uh…probably because there was more proof?
Do you really really really think Bush didn’t do coke in his youth?
I mean, come on…Not that I really care one way or the other, but really.
Dude snorted. Accept it.
Why are you so insistent? If you know something, then say it. Otherwise, it is just a stupid baseless allegation that screams of BDS.
Republicanvet,
Gore’s latest photographs indicate that he maybe one of the “special,Special Chocolate Brownie” type guys. Kerry has a Cambodian water pipe that he got as a Christmas present from a Laotian hoochie in 1968.

Do you really think I am making this up out of thin air?
Come on. Seriously. Its okay to admit that in all likelihood, Bush did some coke. That does not make him a bad president. Everything that followed did.
Take this recorded quote for example…
Really, it is not worth going to the mattresses on this point.
After my time. When I was there, they talked about how glad they were to be on our side of the Iron Curtain.
Most of what you Obama shills post is made up out of thin air. After all, what is there to law school outside of teaching you how to lie creatively?
Holy Cow, no one would think that! You are a lawyer, right?

McCain can put, “Thankfully, only American Citizens are allowed to vote. Otherwise, the unwashed, uneducated, and unAmerican would, too…”
Or, something like that.
Unfortunate for him. However, that never stopped the Democrats before. They will figure out a way.
A.C.O.R.N.
The MSM is in the tank bad for Obambi. It would make Goebbels very proud.
Why not let the world vote for him? Martians are next.
Yes, that’s what a baseless allegation is. You don’t like Bush, so he’s done everything wrong in his past. It’s BDS, plain and simple.
OT, How’s your BIL doing?
Isn’t it funny how there isn’t even a question about John McCain? We just know that he didn’t try cocaine and don’t even have to ask.
There was a day when admitting that you smoked even once without inhaling would have been enough to disqualify you. Now we have a candidate that has a legitimate shot of becoming president that openly admits that not only did he smoke pot, but used cocaine on a regular basis. How do I explain the concept of decorum to my children and tell them I expect them to hold themselves to a higher standard when the potential leader of the free world admits he was once a cokehead?
We’ve lost sight of what’s important. Character and integrity are lost virtues. We believe the government is an endless supply of money to spend on us without ever considering how they get that money. We mistakenly believe we have the “right” to privacy, abortion, credit, health care, and cheap gas without ever considering what the actual cost of these things is to our freedom, safety, and morals.
We are lost. Something will happen, sooner or later, to put us back on the right path.
/rant
I don’t know why you’d think that. Every great civilization dies eventually, and given the fact that more than just the lunatic left is even considering voting for Obama is enough proof of Gotterdaemmerung. The left has far too strong a stranglehold on the government and the educational system in this country (witness the useful idiots like omu and lgm who infest this web site) to prevent any recovery.
