Obama is willing to say when he thinks McCain is right. McCain never admits Obama is right, even on things he agrees about. This is one of the many differences between the candidates that make people prefer Obama.

The reason Obama was reduced to simply parroting McCain’s responses is because his pool of knowledge on many issues is quite shallow and his vaunted speaking abilities are quite limited when he’s forced to step away from the teleprompter and put his words together extemporaneously.

If Obama was the kind of once-in-a-generation, latter-day-Cato the obamatons pretend he is, he would have been able to say more than “uh, yeah, me too” when he agreed with McCain. Too often, he could neither elaborate on McCain’s position nor offer any coherent criticism of it. The Russia-Georgia conflict is a good example. McCain immediately pointed to the strategic importance of the Black Sea, while Obama… well, he just, uh, mmm, agreed with Senator McCain.

BTW, do you really expect us to believe that Obama supporters like it when he expresses his agreement with McCain? Consider for a second: what are the transitive properties of political positions? If McCain agrees with Bush, and Obama agrees with McCain, then I guess Obama agrees with Bush! On many issues, an Obama administration would then be just a continuation of the Bush administration, right? Do you want 4 more years of George W. Bush? Eager for a third Bush term? Then vote for Obama! He agrees with McCain, who agrees with Bush!

If this is a trivial complaint when directed against Obama, then it must also be trivial when directed against McCain. But to many, if not most, obamatons, McCain’s agreement with Bush is not a trivial matter, so I guess you’re just bullsh*ting us when you say you just adore Obama when he says “I agree with McCain.”

If I was a betting man, I’d wager (not too) deep down inside, you hate it when The One fails to distinguish his position from McCain’s, even when he does in fact agree with him, because his failure to highlight their differences undercuts the main thrust of his campaign…

It’s not a crime to agree with McCain. When the McCain people put out an ad that makes fun of Obama for sometimes agreeing with McCain, they are hurting themselves. They seem to be saying that it’s stupid to agree with McCain — which is not the best advertisement for their candidate.
