As has been noted elsewhere, Democrats have a pretty consistent record of inducing crises, blaming them on Republicans, then failing to solve them and blaming that on Republicans, too. Looks like we’re seeing one of the first of this year’s October surprises.

The failure of the bailout bill can apparently be laid directly at the feet of Pelosi. Her inflammatory speech just prior to the vote seemed calculated to get some Republicans who were either reluctantly supporting the bill, or on the fence about it, to vote against it and “cause it to fail” (Of course they didn’t – that honor belongs to the 90 odd Democrats who voted against it).

The market’s immediate reaction could very well have been triggered by a few large short sellers (Soros is famous for this sort of thing) getting things started (and stepping back in near the lows to take profits, letting the market level rise again). Note that the last 200+ points of loss in the DJIA came in the last minute of trading, turning an worse than usual down day into a record one.

In other words, much of this whole mess, which cost investors around $1 trillion dollars today, could very well be just Democrat electioneering.

Fixed it. I’ll trust the markets for now. The solution is to reduce government meddling and this MOAB does just the opposite.

LOL…..Aren’t they the one’s that are mostly vested in the stock market? By deliberately tanking the market wouldn’t they lose the most? And these idiots wanted access to over a trillion dollars of taxpayer money?

I suppose everyone has a right to shoot themselves in the foot.

Don’t Go and Surrender to The Corporate Socialists!!!!!!

Three points:

1. The majority of Americans who didn’t get themselves in over their heads are very angry at having to bail out those who did. We are also angry at a legislature and government officials who allowed all this to happen and are letting the CEOs responsible float away on their golden parachutes.

2. We acknowledge that SOME form of a bail out has to happen to prevent our economy sliding even further down the toilet. However, it should be the absolute MINIMUM… not this TRILLION -dollar boondoggle that the House just voted down.

3. We are watching you, Senators and Representatives alike. How you vote today more than ever will determine how WE vote tomorrow. Think about it.

If I get this right, even if voted for by the Senate, the bill still has to go back to the house for a revote before it can hit Bush’s desk…right? I am trying to remember the School House Rock song right now.

If McCain REALLY wants to win he needs to NOT support this robbery (bailout), and he needs to point out to the extent of impalement, the democratic/liberal causes of this insipid baliout-making mortgage loans to people who never should have received them in the first place.

As for McCain’s not looking directly into Obama’s eyes during the first debate..he did exactly what he should do since he is physically shorter than Obama, and for him to look up into Obama’s eyes would have allowed Obama to be visually dominant over McCain
