The Boston Globe: In the bag for Obama
The Boston Globe, which refuses to correct its factually-challenged smear of Sarah Palin over rape kits, has an online store. According to its “About Us” page, the store was formed in 1996 “to make The Globe’s extensive photo archives and content available for both people and businesses…In addition to offering the historic images and content of New England’s largest newspaper, the Globe Store also has a growing selection of books and products that celebrate our region’s personalities, sports teams, history, and places.”
Along with Red Sox and Celtics paraphernalia and regional knick-knacks, the Boston Globe store is hawking this lovely product for $46.80 each (big hat tip – No Looking Backwards):

The description:
A powerful image, a powerful message….”carry a conversation” of hope and change. The Obama handbag made by FlashBag is the perfect head turning blend of fashion sense meets common sense. No handbag collection is complete this Fall without the Obama handbag.
Flashbags are wearable art handbags and accessories. They are handmade by women in Burlington, Vermont. Durable Flashbags are made from laminated images strengthened by a sandwich of eight sheets of recycled newsprint. Images cover every panel of the bag inside and out and each panel is embroidered with colorful swoops and swirls that complement the composition of each image.
I can’t seem to find the McCain bag. Can you?
While the newspaper sells lies about Sarah Palin, it peddles overpriced purses hyping Obama.
MSM: They’re in the tank. And they’re in the bag.
Bias? What bias? Conflict of interest? What conflict of interest? Liberal media? What liberal media?

This fawning over Obama is unprecedented and over the top… even for Democrats.
If Obama wins, a year from know these same people will wonder how they could have gotten Obama so wrong. They might even join my call for impeachment.
AND I thought the media loved Bill Clinton in 1992!!
I guess someone has the trademarks on Che and Lenin.
The Boston Globe being in the bag for the anointed one and the sun will set in the West tonight.
fawning? that is an understatement…more like bowing down before the chosen one…
there won’t be any impeachment…chairman obama won’t stand for any decent!
We have to get him before he gets to that point. Because after that the only way to remove him will be a coup.
Tacky
Why does it feel like I live in the USSR?
Is there a difference between the three?
No, not really. But the kids may want to collect the whole series.
Birthdays and skin color.
There WILL be re-education centers someday. BIG monitors of Obama’s head lecturing us on how we need to change to fit into the new world order….
Remember “Red Dawn“??
(Teleprompter sold seperately)
In other news:
The Boston Globe in the tank for Obama? The hell you say! Who is next? The New York Times? The Washington Post?
Thank heavens we can still trust MSNBC…
Seriously; The media cannot be trusted one tiny little bit. They simply regurgitate the press releases from whomever they are rooting for.
I can hear the introduction speech at the “re-education” centers now:
“Some of you will notice my face looks different from those normally found on your little red books……”
Oh yes. And on that day I become a Wolverine.
Omigod, I just looked at the latest polls and they all have Obama leading.
You know what this proves, don’t you ?
That’s right – the country is in the tank for Obama !
What are we gonna do ?
In the tank? You mean in the toilet.
The Globe is just a mirror of the NYTimes, and a complete waste of trees.
It’s a coup, plain and simple.
What are you suggesting, submit or conform?
Can the liberal media’s blatant, naked bias toward Obama be considered racketeering? After all, if he wins and the “Fairness” doctrine is imposed they will have a monopoly on all news.
Okay, maybe racketeering is not quite correct but you get the drift.
Don Corleone would be proud.
I think it proves that you can fool some of the people all of the time….
“Boston Globe in the bag for Obama; in other news tonight, the Pope is Catholic, bear takes dump in woods. These stories and more after these commercials.”
Three weeks ago, I found myself pulling out my copy of Atlas Shrugged and re-reading it. It’s like looking at this election cycle all over again.
I Am John Galt
Dear Leader would not approve of this kind of talk.
I’m more outraged that they charge almost fifty bucks for some laminated pics and eight sheets of newspaper folded into the shape of a bag. The tipster No Looking Backwards asks:
I wouldn’t want to spill any in that.
Fingers crossed—dollar store by the middle of next month.
there was a movie in the late 60’s where a very young rock star was elected president and then decided anyone over 40 had to be euthanized. i feel like i’m in that movie some days. my rock star has decided elections should be about fraud and corruption leading to the inevitable revolution. imagine three revolutions in less than 250 years. let the french try to top that.
You know, I’m kinda disappointed in this store. I looked everywhere for Ted Kennedy Swim Fins but could not find any. Disheartening!
Would that be a “crap sandwich”?
Boston Globe eh? Well if you can’t trust the Boston Globe what Left Wing MSM outlet can you trust?
Boston Then:
Home of the Sons of Liberty
Home of Paul Revere
Home of the Tea Party
So close to Lexington and Corcord.
Boston Now:
Kennedys
Kerrys
Boston Globe
Leftist and traitors of every stripe.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
*Gasp* Sweatshops in New England!
Tack-y.
Can’t be a pro-Obama purse.
He looks like a blow up doll.
The media’s blatant bias and preferential treatment of Obama is beyond unfair, its criminal.
And one thing for certain, with all the water-carrying and covering up the media has done for Obama, if he wins his victory will be based on lies and propaganda. The American people will be making an uninformed and misinformed decision. His presidency will be illegitimate from the outset. FAR more illegitimate than President Bush ever was.
I really question these so-called “polls”. How do we know they’re not in the tank for Obama?
Funny, most of them don’t show the underlying data behind these polls. I’d like to know how many of those polled were registered Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc. Men vs. Women, age, education level, etc.
Do they really represent a sample of America? Inquiring minds want to know.
I wonder if they sell kneepads with his picture on them.
Not just Obama, but Biden too. They’ve given him a pass on his gaffe-a-day since he came onto the scene.
Hey when are they gonna Bailout the liberal newspapers??? Might as well since they helped pass the bill!!!
Hey cheapseat..That movie was one this weekend..Called Wild In The Streets...with Christopher Jones and Shelley Winters…they put everyone over 35 in camps…..pack your bags conservatives!!
Newsbusters.org (second link down on the right) are selling Conservative T-shirts. Could they be ‘in the tank’ for Republicans ?
Of course not. Folks, it’s a free country. You can advertise what you want, where you want. Does selling advertising space to one side or the other mean a preference ?
Yeah, I know, you don’t really think so, but you have to whine. I understand. So shocking ! Carry On Whining.
The Republican party has no one to blame but themselves. They had conservative candidates much better qualified than McCain. I would’ve loved to have seen a Constitutional or economic debate between BO and Ron Paul. America is poorer for it.
As Moon Unit might have said:
“Bag your face, I’m sure.”
1. That more than half this country thinks it is preferable for the the government to care of them than rely on their own resources, intelligence and hard work?
2. More than half the country has not paid close attention to Obama statements, is incapable of analyzing them, or simply does not care?
3. That more than half this country is filled with wealth envy and instead of turning off American Idol and the Sports Channel and getting off the couch to improve themselves they would rather drag down other people with more motivation?
4. More than half this country is stoned?
5. Some combination of the above?
Oh come now maisy , we can pack better than that.
Concord and Lexington did not happen because of taxes or the price of tea. We were told “put down your weapons rebels” and we didn’t.
I have been making this argument repeatedly here since become a member of La Malkin’s site, but they (not She Herself, but the commenters here) are unable to accept that simple Truth. At one point, one particularly dimwitted commenter tried to “prove” that, in fact, McSame is somehow the result of DEMOCRATS in New Hampshire cross-voting – as if there were even enough of them, had EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT voted for McSame, to have made a real difference… But then, as we all know, the Democratic voters of New Hampshire simply OVERWHELMED everybody else at the Republican Convention and FORCED McSame on them…
They just can’t seem to accept that THEY chose McSame and he, true to form if you are even reasonably educated on his truth-free backstory as a “maverick,” put himself ahead of the country and chose Palin to grab headlines for a couple of cycles… They are now reaping what they sowed – or, rather, reaping from the field they didn’t fight hard enough to control – and Obama is all but assured victory, maybe even an outright landslide.
yeah maisy that’s it, if my memory serves it started with lowering the voting age to allow the young to vote. reminds me of changing the laws to motor voter, anything goes, don’t have to prove citizenship, residency, legality, or competency to vote. talk about wild in the streets, lunatics in the voting booth.
The Obama bag is not in ad space on the website, it is sold by the Boston Globe Store. This is a newspaper selling gear that supports one candidate. That hardly makes one feel good about the objectivity of the paper.
But your dismissive attitude will surely engage people in honest debate with you and help them to consider the content of your opinions. Good tactic. It’s also interesting to me that you choose to call people whiners by whining yourself.
gribble…are you comparing a blog with organizations that are supposed to just report the news and not offer opinion. The Globe can fawn all over BHO on its editorial page, sure, but the paper is supposed to be objective. This is not what the founders of this country had in mind when they insisted on a free media. You are dense.
Actually, most Republican voters hadn’t had a chance to vote before 27% of Florida Republicans decided it would be McCain.
But, yes, the party elites stuck us with a turd sandwich, who is no match for the giant douche. The Resistance starts 5 November 2008. Three simple goals.
1. Resist Obamunism and defend free speech.
2. Elect a Republican majority in Congress in 2010.
3. Reclaim the White House in 2012 with a real conservative.
Yep – looks like the Boston Globe hasn’t thought through their decision and determined that Obama is the best way for America to move forward – nope, they hate America and want the terrorists to win.
Makes perfect sense (to you people)
#37
How dare you question the validity of the polls! Just do you know, all these pollsters took samples from diverse locations: Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Berlin, and Paris.
Cheapseat and Arizona…Yes they put one of their drugged up people,a woman , in office after lowering the vote to 17 and then she got it lowered to 14!! The movie ends when the Prez wanders into a forest, kills a pet of some young kids…and the leader of the kids says…no one should be put in office over the age of TEN!! Fade to end!
And Arizona funny you should mention ‘packing”….on a site I visit frequently one poster has always encouraged people to ‘buy guns” ….many considered him the resident ‘nutjob”. I am beginning to think his fears are about to come to fruition.
The Obama Plan is to use the “Imus Doctrine” The Spoof.
http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s3i41471
No sir, IF Obama wins, any and all calamities that befall this nation during his term will be blamed on Bush and his policies. And then that will be driven home by the MSM until it is the accepted view.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
gribble,
Newsbusters.org admits its conservative bias, they (we) are conservatives. The Globe and most other news outlets make claims to be unbiased news gatherers and reporters. When they make that claim, they lie.
They hide behind the appearance of neutrality to influence the public and turn elections. The tools that they use for this are lies, twisting the words of truth tellers and calling them liars, creating fictions and reporting them as facts, and allocation of coverage.
Is there a newspaper in the US that is not in the tank for Obama and the Democrats in general?
+Photi
In my life, I have noticed that #4 will almost always produce #1-#3. It’s almost like a mathematical law.
Re OneMonkeysUncle #47, do you also post as “omu”?
Well, it’s over…I’ve given up. McCain won’t fight back and the MSM is determined to elect the chosen one. They’re all set to steal the election in Ohio, the “Truth” squads, what else can we do except refuse to bow down when the One is annointed?
Read the Book of Daniel chapter 3.
No, I have only this one screen name for this site. Why do you ask?
Yes, many like to call us nuts. First Tuesday of the month we meet as ‘Take a gun nut to lunch bunch”
Some more gun nuts:
Thomas Jefferson: “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined or determined to commit crimes. Such laws only make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assassins; they serve to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (1764 Letter and speech from T. Jefferson quoting with approval an essay by Cesare Beccari)
John Adams: “Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.” (A defense of the Constitution of the US)
George Washington: “Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people’s liberty teeth (and) keystone… the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable… more than 99% of them [guns] by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference [crime]. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour.” (Address to 1st session of Congress)
George Mason: “To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.” (3 Elliot, Debates at 380)
Noah Webster: “Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe.” (1787, Pamphlets on the Constitution of the US)
George Washington: “A free people ought to be armed.” (Jan 14 1790, Boston Independent Chronicle.)
Thomas Jefferson: “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” (T. Jefferson papers, 334, C.J. Boyd, Ed. 1950
James Madison: “Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose people are afraid to trust them with arms.” (Federalist Paper #46)
Mahatma Gandhi: “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.” (”Gandhi, an Autobiography,” M.K. Gandhi, 446)
ArizonaNeanderthal: We are citizens of the Republic, NOT subjects of King or State. It’s God BLESS America BroBama, BLESS.
Hope you join us maisy.
Just curious.
If the one wins:
1. Resist Obamunism and defend free speech.
2. Elect a Republican majority in Congress in 2010.
3. Reclaim the White House in 2012 with a real conservative.
4. Impeach Obama ASAP.
It’s just coincidence that “omu” are the initials for
“Our Monkey’s Uncle”, as is the fact that they use identical turns of phrase, have the identical political philosophy, and wear the same shirts.
Some women make handbags, some are Governors…just sayin’, their choice…
Once you put enough money in, the zipper gets stuck and you can’t get it out.
Between McCain and Obama, which would you more likely associate with a handbag?
Give Bill Clinton a call. His zipper flies open on command.
I think everyone is missing the point:
You fill the bag with vinegar and water.
perfectly appropriate.
The Boston Globe speaks to the world, but the Boston Herald tells us what will really happen in it.
If Obama wins I suggest that we make ourselves just as obnoxious as the BDS folks were over the past 8 years. I will write letters, put up “Impeach Obama” signs, and heckle them like hell.
I’m so angry about the death of US Journalism that I want to spit on them. I want to make the next four years hell for these assh****.
“They are handmade by [bra-less man-haired amazon] women in Burlington, Vermont.”
Big selling point. Can’t get more liberal than that (perhaps Bezerkeley).
There is a big health care organization headquartered in Burlington. When the folks would visit, I’d irritate the snot out of them knowing how lib they are. “Are you allowed to own a gun up there? I heard it is very scary to be a conservative there.” And other harmless irritations. Not very nice of me to go into older brother irritating mode.
It is getting close to the release date for the Michelle Obama “HATE WHITEY” video….
I think one of these bags will be great for carrying my possesions once I join the ranks of the jobless and homeless after Obama makes all his changes.
I just can’t understand how or why this type of thing is even permitted in this country.
It is enough to make a guy close his door, pull the shades, lock up and just stay inside, away from all the lunatics and brainwashed freaks.
Similar to the Start Trek episode (can’t remember name)
Bonk! Bonk! Lovey Dovey!
Kids vs elders.
#79
…”And the Children Shall Lead Them”
Oooh…sorry, wrong episode. It was “Miri”. Now my geeky Trek friends are gonna redshirt me for sure…
Ha!
“Asps! You go first!”
And this surprises us how?
As noted yesterday, my husband won’t allow iThe Boston Globe [Democrat] into his work space – unless it’s where it belongs, in with the rest of the trash.
And I heartily endorse his behavior.
The reason there is no McCain bad is because McCain is not a youth icon. Neither is Palin. Obama is. The bag is obviously (from it’s aesthetics) aimed at young people. Obama’s image is enduring and iconic (regardless of whether you like him, or detest him so much that you make a big deal out a newspaper selling his image on a bag) and that’s why the Boston Globe is selling it. It’s hardly an endorsement or evidence of bias.
Sorry, try again.
The only problem Boston Globe has with Obama is he’s NOT GAY!!!
If I saw someone carrying this bag I’d try and take a crap in it. Why? Because that’s all its worth.
Not buying it – not your [ir]rationale, and most definitely not the O-baggie. There are more important things to spend my money on – like an umbrella with holes in it.
Depending on how poorly Palin does tonight, if the video exists, it could start showing up on the Intarwebs tomorrow in time to make the evening news… Word today is McSame’s abandoning Michigan – if they’ve got that card, they better play it soon or it will be too late to matter…
(Hey, there IS an “omu”… who knew?! Sorry to disappoint you conspiracy nuts, but, there ARE actually TWO of us who seem to disagree with you!)
Those who seem to be sickeningly upset with and giving up on McCain and happen to be flying will find one to suit their needs in the pouch behind the seats on air liners that has a practical if only a one-time use.
And there’s no charge for them – yet.
That would explain the Che face of the other side.
Whatever – the Boston Globe isn’t forcing to buy it bag, so you can just spend your money on humour lessons from now on
omu, are the children singing whatshisface praises the ones buying the garbage bag? You know if you indoctrinate them young enough they’ll never know better. You can’t even spell humor without coming across like a pompus A$$. Sorry, I meant pompus omu. By the way, the two are interchangeable. Go peddle your handbags where you can find a gullable buyer. Maybe you and Keith Blowberman can share one.
The young people that support Obama are in colleges. They can make up their own minds and they have. They overwhelmingly support Obama. This is undeniable. That’s why that bag is being marketed to them. D’uh.
