if she gaffes the MSM will continue the witch hunt with a vengence….
What she doesn’t say they’ll make up anyway. Once it’s spread, it’s truth to them…
Rooting for Bidenifill is like rooting for the Dauphin against Joan of Arc. Any chance you can get that English spot off, Michelle?
Ha! Another link to a good parody today. Michelle, you’re on a roll, you Asian, black, white, Jewish American princess you.
Oh great Victor…CNN and MSNBC will be hammering Palin tonight on these gaffes.
I gaffed; the Dauphin was on her side.
She would then be qualified to be B. Hussein Obama’s VP!
Rush said on his show that Sarah needs to open her debate by telling Gwen congrats on her book and that she wouldn’t tell her to stand up.
(gwen broke her ankle and will be in a wheelchair)
I really don’t care if the media piles on as long as it is even handed. Since journalism is dead that’s not going to happen.
Rush noted on Wednesday that he and Snerdley had Googled to see what the media lead stories were the last six weeks prior to the 2006 election. The two lead stories the whole time were George Allen’s “maccaca” story and Tom Foley’s one e-mail to a page.
Here we are within six weeks of the Presidential election in the middle of a financial scandal six times the size of Enron and ……total silence? Why? All the perps are Democrats. Failing to disclose the truth is still a lie.
What is going to be ironic is when the press succeeds and the liberal tyrants come to power with the full breadth of authority they always have dreamed of. When the monster the press has aided and abetted coming to power turns on them, they will realize too late how freedom requires responsibility and the free dissemination of facts.
The greatest threat to freedom is not from without, but from within. Freedom without trust, honor, and responsibility cannot stand. The Edward R. Murrow’s knew this; the Keith Obermann’s don’t.
She’s already an Alaskan trailer trash ignorant christianist redneck in the eyes of libs, which is all the gaffe they need to pile up on her.
Anything she says the MSM will simply continue to misquote or just make up and it will simply be more icing on their Baked Alaska.
BTW, last night when CNN was talking about the debate they were speaking about Sarah like never before. They said how great of a debater she was, smart, clever, ect ect (I tried to remember their words but it was late).
of course, just to raise expectations.
That article makes it clear that if the playing field were even… meaning… if Biden got the same harsh treatment as she does, Biden’s political career would be FINISHED.
Yup. As you said. Spot on.
Here are some vintage Joe Biden gaffes.
1) Barack Obama is “clean and articulate”
2) My dad and grandpa worked in the coalmines for 16 hours a day under the ground and then came up and played football for 8 hours.
(Aside from the fact that NO Biden ever worked as a coalminer and the only Biden who ever worked in the coal industry was an inlaw who was a management guy, Biden was simply stealing Neil Kinnock’s life story).
3) Biden said his airplane in Afghanistan was “forced down”. Biden implied that the Taliban shot it down. Actually there was a mild storm and the pilot thought it prudent to land the plane for a while. Nobody was in danger.
4) Biden falsely stated that a drunk driver killed his (Biden’s) wife and children. The accident was indeed tragic and one can feel the utmost sympathy for Joe Biden’s loss of wife and child. But Joe Biden slandered the man who was in the accident with Mrs. Biden. The New Jersey state investigation found No evidence that the driver in the accident with Mrs. Biden was drunk or had any alcohol in his system. The New Jersey investigation did not fault the guy whose car collided with Mrs. Biden.
4) Biden said he was in the top half of his law school class. He was actually 75 out of 86, as poor a student as you can find.
If Palin shoots herself in the foot during the debate, it will be broadcast by the MSM as falling on her sword. Of course, Biden falling on his sword would be just a flesh wound.
I’d point Chapoutier at this column, but he’d think that Palin was actually the one who said those things.
Joe Biden as The Black Knight. That’s perfect!
He’s too busy pretending that he is loved.
There, that sounds the way the MSM would play it.
And I would point out that there is a world of difference between gaffes and demonstrating an embarrassing lack of knowledge about fundamental issues of today and being unable to answer what should be simple questions.
I’ll take the gaffemaster.
And to atheling…..
…..
I stand corrected, Hawkeye. Now…..
Darn, where did I put my sword??
That brings to mind several insulting things I could say about him, but it’s more fun when he’s in the discussion.
son of a gun. Speak of the devil.
What would be more perfect is Joe Biden as Monty Python’s Brave Sir Robin : )
I wonder if Biden puts special spices on his shoes since they are in his mouth all the time.
Naw…..Brave Sir Robin would be…
John Kerry
Outside of the alleged answer to one gotcha question, you have yet to demonstrate that claim. And Biden is a lot more than just a gaffemeister. He’s a plagiarist and serial liar (although I can see why that wouldn’t bother you). Can you imagine him conducting any serious foreign discussions with his foot-in-mouth disease?
In order for Sarah Palin to have gaffes, she would have to utter anything other than prepared speeches. Biden has given more than a hundred interviews since he became the nominee, Palin three, while famously being sequestered from reporters (we know why after the Couric interview).
The useful idiots of the MSM don’t think for themselves, observe or investigate. Their stories are all scripted in advance of the event and tonight’s debate is no exception. Gwen Ifill has no doubt leaked the questions to the Obama camp to prop Biden and sell her book. The media will report after the debate that Biden’s “relaxed and polished” performance won the debate(after practicing his answers a hundred times) while Palin was “shrill” and “out of her league”. Never mind that Sarah will actually mop the floor with Joe’s hair plugs!
The fix is so in.
Naw…..Brave Sir Robin would be…
John Kerry
lol – touche!
Can you imagine what Gov. Palin will go through if she is elected VP? We though Dan Quayle had it bad, they will be merciless on her. I hope Gov. Palin kicks some Blue Biden Butt tonight.
Here is some advice McCain advisors, let her loose and tell the truth about the financial mess and she will mop the floor with Biden.
Knowledge can be acquired, but judgement is something you have or do not have by middle age. Palin’s record clearly demostrates that when she obtains the knowledge needed on a subject, her judgement is sound, assuming you agree with her values.
I worked for such a man. When we got him the data, his judgement about things that he was not even a subject matter expert in was sound. Without it, he was human and made poor decisions. That experience was an eye opener for me.
Obama and Biden, nope. It’s not there. They ignore history. That’s not a good thing.
Anyway, since I’m not talking behind his back, I was going to say that he’s too busy pretending to have a measurable IQ.
I see that for the right, a “gotcha” question simply means one Palin either 1) can’t answer or 2) answers incorrectly.
Chap: Don’t confuse being wary of a trap by the Lib media hacks with lack of knowledge on a subject. She is no doubt being told by her handlers that the media are vultures and looking to tear her to pieces by setting her up for a smear. I’d be pretty cautious about how I answered their questions as well.
She’s no media maven yet, but she’ll get there. I’m rather glad that she’s not your typcial double talking politician like Obama and Biden are.
hey.. I’m still waiting for anyone in the media to ask Biden the kinds of questions she’s being asked. SCOTUS decisions? I won’t hold me breath for a reporter or interviewer to ask Biden that one.
How can these people keep re-electing Biden? (Other than to keep him out of state politics where he can REALLY hurt people; that’s why North Dakota keeps sending Kent Conrad back to Washington)
Biden is like a bad imitation of Bob Eucker’s character “Harry Doyle” with a bad hangover. Just not as well written.
#26
There is, of course, some precedence for Palin being sequestered from reporters.
Did not Joseph flee to Egypt with Mary and the Infant?
Except he actually was asked the same question by Couric and gave an intelligent answer.
Why on earth would she give interviews to the Obama supporting media? She can do as Obama does, and only give interviews to neutral or supportive media. For instance, I believe she’ll be on Hannity’s radio show later, if you care to listen in.
Is everyone seeing that Cynthia McKinney is claiming the DoD killed and dumped 5000 prisoner bodies in Louisiana swamps back during Katrina?
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/02/mckinney-accuses-government-slaughtering-prisoners-dumping-bodies-katrina/
No, it’s the kind of question that they wouldn’t ask Obama.
To recycle an old joke – tomorrow’s headlines:
After the debate thousands of viewers were polled and the results indicate that Palin came in a dissapointing next-to-last while Biden scored an impressive second place.
Ohhh…that’ll be a barn burner.
Hannity: Why, Governor Palin, and be specific, why are you so super awesome?
Palin: Aw jeez Sean…ya know, I really don’t like to brag on me too much, so I’ll just have to get back to ya on that one, okay?
Hannity: Governor, I will give you one more chance, can you give me ONE reason why you are the bestest veep candiate to ever live?
5000 prisoners killed in Louisiana?
That explains why there is so much trash along the roadside.
Oh, you think it’ll be like Gwen Ifill interviewing Obama! Probably not.
Can you back that up with credible details?
Actually, I don’t think it’s a live interview, I think it was taped earlier from the way Hannity was just talking.
You already have him. He’s at the top of the Dem ticket.
“Intelligent” and “Biden” are words seldom seen in the same sentence. “Plagiarist”, “liar”, “incompetent fool” and “Biden”, now that’s something else. But I have to admire the tenacity with which you defend the indefensible. Almost like a real lawyer.
In fact I can. At about the 1:10 mark in this video.
According to a transcript, he was asked, though I haven’t seen nor heard of that interview happening.
So touche’ Chap.
But… It appears that he was familiar with it because he worked on a committee that heard testimony regarding a women’s right to sue someone who beat her in federal court.
Lucky for him he was on that committee.
Unfortunately, giving interviews non-stop to the MSM is EXACTLY what she should have done, starting right after the convention. By remaining silent she has allowed the MSM to define her in an extremely negative light. I’m sure they would have been are vicious as possible to her in the process, but she would at least have had a chance to answer her critics. Now she is in the spot where she NEEDS to hit a home run tonight, or she’s done. It is unfair, but that’s the world we live in.
It’s funny how they put all this on Palin regarding experience for VP and the top of the ticket “the one” has nothing. Oh, cept he whizzed away about 100 million to acorn instead of managing the money where it was actually supposed to go.
The so called community he was such a genius in is still in shambles and the schools got hosed from him and his buddy ayershead.
It was his OWN bill that the court rejected. Of course he remembers it! Hardly a “gotcha” moment.
Try again.
The Media’s biased influence over our elections have crossed the line into the criminal.. I don’t expect tonight to be any different.
Did he answer the question? Why yes he did. And you know what, I’ll bet he could have rattled off half a dozen more.
Its not his fault he has a wider basis of knowledge than Palin.
And besides, she could have done the essentially same thing by citing the Exxon case that was very closely watched in Alaska.
chapoutier, Sarah Palin could rattle off a bunch of stuff about Alaska. What is your point?
Yes, that was my point. Thank you for clarifying it.
Boumediene vs. Bush would have been a good one for her to chose though if she had to pick one.
And whether she’s being dodgey because she’s drawing a blank, or doesn’t want to pick up a hot potato with the moderates like give terrorists access to courts, I’m not terribly concerned right now. Those are issues she will be briefed on when needed.
What concerns me is that fact that her core beliefs make sense. And in that, I’m not worried at all.
I suspect she can probably speak intelligently when it comes to drilling. Other Alaska issues? I would be curious to see how they relate to the US as a whole. If they don’t I really don’t care how much she knows about them.
Palin doesn’t make gaffes. She fails to express coherent thoughts on particular policy issues when questioned about them. There is a difference.
Sambo, parody. Got it? I can’t believe you didn’t recognize Biden’s gaffes being attributed to Sarah!! I realize I haven’t seen you here in awhile, but egads! You must be joking!
Gee Crapoutier: I see they let you out on work release again.
How’s your disbarment trail coming?
Still stealing from your client’s?
trial
chapoutier, most people care about a candidate’s record of success and positive attitued. Sarah Palin has both. Biden has neither.
Extensive knowledge of trivia, which Biden apparently has, doesn’t impress most people.
Good point, she knows more about the Oil industry than Biden and Obama combined. Obama/Biden know the special interests that hand them the cash don’t like energy production and that’s apparently good enough for them. Since energy independence is key to national security and the economy, Palin’s knowledge in this area is a huge plus to the ticket.
The good ones never get caught.
Does a bear sh-…well you get it.
I am intrigued/frightened you find the Supreme Court “trivial”.
It doesn’t matter what Palin says tonight. The headlines are already written and Biden has won the debate.
Besides, they hold Palin to a much, much higher standard than Biden or Obama.
The media is in the tank for Obama.
That is absurd. Expectations have never been set so low. Palin will win this one by demonstrating a bare minimum of competence. I in fact predict she will and the poll numbers will bounce slightly back toward McCain so that in a few days he will be only about 4 points down.
Chap, you fail to address the central issue. What good is Biden’s knowledge, if he possess, demonstrably I might add, painfully bad judgement. His Iranian policy and his “no” vote on the Alaska pipeline are examples.
Facts without the ability to correctly apply them in a position of responsibility means very little.
I might also add that plagarism should disqualify anyone from being even nominated for higher office. Such people are weasels repeatedly refused to rein in Fannie Mae, followed by a trillion dollar bailouts filled with earmarks characterized by using panic as a lever.
I’ll take integrity and judgement over an experience political plagarist.
VDH really should’ve closed the piece with a paragraph explaining that if you substitute Obama and Biden’s names with McCain and Palin’s in the piece, that would be the actual reality; that Biden was the one who made all those gaffes. Just having it say “parody” in the credit line doesn’t cut it. I can easily see this showing up on Digg as a real item. Irony, sarcasm and satire are wasted on the stupid.
No, actually that would be Obama … remember his “I’ll debate John McCain anytime, anywhere” proclamation? When McCain asked him to put his money where his mouth was … he bravely ran away away, bravely ran away … when danger reared its ugly head he bravely turned his tail and fled …
I am intrigued/frightened you do not find Biden “trivial”.
BTW I do not find the Supreme Court trivial. My point is that Biden may be able to recite a bunch of little known facts but that is not an indication of intelligence or leadership.
You are right about this. It’s all getting so predictable and tiresome. We certainly could have predicted the outcome of this bailout – our politicans will push and push until they get their way, regardless of what the people want. I digress…I just want it to be over so we can get on with the getting on.
For Pete’s sake. Couric did not ask either of them to cite the procedural posture of the case. She just asked for a freaking name, and I’ll bet she would have accepted a general description if the exact name could not be recalled. But Palin couldn’t even muster that.
Alaska vs. Baker? it was a 5-3 decision with Roberts and Scalia in the majority. It was an appeal of the 9th’s decision… a VERY liberal court.
I would expect that she agreed with that decision. Which wasn’t the question.
That’d be like expecting Obama to answer with the Boumediene decision. Obviously, he wouldn’t disagree with that one.
Of course Biden disagreed with the decision he referred to. And what year was that decision made? I wonder if he could speak to any other decisions he disagreed with. Maybe he could. But he didn’t mention any other 5-4 decisions even from this year. There was one involving a democrat and the FEC that he would instinctively disagree with. The court ruled against the democrat.
I’m not convinced Couric’s question or either candidates answer carries much weight.
Ok, I laughed.
But, fine. Biden provided a better answer than Palin’s non-answer.
Let’s see how they do tonight.
O/T I just don’t know what to say about this nut. I think the nut cracked.
Really? Ever since she came onto the scene barely a month ago, they’ve criticized her from head to toe. Meanwhile, Biden — Mr. Gaffe-A-Day — who thinks FDR was president in 1929 and people had TVs, hasn’t been touched once. NOT ONCE. Oh, and let’s not forget Obama (Mr. lack of ANY experience, including much less than Palin’s) hasn’t been questioned about anything. Not Acorn, not ayers, not who paid for his college tuition, to his medical records, to his college transcripts, not Rev. Wright, not Ayers, not anything. A free ride all the way.
Everything from Palin’s clothing, to her family (implying incest of all things, not to mention Trig not being her own child) to her glasses, to her “outdated” hairdo, as one jealous liberal man-woman inferred, has been put through the ringer.
I don’t recall anyone mentioning Biden’s plugs do you?
Spot on. It’s also important to be able to think on your feet and at least give the perception that you know what the hell is going on, even if you’re on the losing end intellectually. There is a whole psychology going on where you have to at least convince the public that you’re competent, even when you aren’t. You have too look CONFIDENT.
Yes,it’s coming….
George W. Bush mastered the art, and Sarah Palin should study that phony’s debates.
Well, it would also be good for Biden to know history as well — instead of saying FDR was president in 1929 and people had TVs.
That’s a gaffe AND an embarrassing lack of knowledge. And that’s just one of many, many “unintelligent” things Biden has said.
It’s just that you haven’t been exposed to it because the MSM fails to acknowledge it for fear of Obama’s campaign being ridiculed as it should be.
Biden knows what’s going on, but sometimes his arrogance and big mouth gets the best of him. Asking a handicapped man to standup is an embarrasing gaffe, but doesn’t have to do with readiness and ability to be president. Gaffes can also be caused by fatigue like Obama’ 57 states or McCain’s Sunni/ Shia confusion. Sarah Palin’s issue isn’t about gaffes. It’s about the fact that she gives the perception that she’s incompetent and doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about. You don’t see calls from prominent democrats for Biden to drop out and take care of his family. Some prominent conservatives are honestly describing what their eyes and ears reveal, to their horror.
I’m just hoping Palin will slap Biden upside the head tonight. I already feel it coming.
But, of course, if she shows confidence, which she has in her Alaska debates, it will be seen in the media as sarcastic, or pompous. That’s their perception…just wait, it’s coming.
Really? Pretty amazing that a 44 year old woman gets to be Alaska’s very popular governor if she’s that incompetent. I’d say that’s a pretty good accomplishment. More than what you have done, I’m sure.
More than what Obama has done, and more than what Hillary (I have experience because my husband was president) has done.
Hmmm, I guess she must be doing something right.
But you see, in your jealous little eyes, Alaska doesn’t count, because it only has 700,000 people.
Excellent parody. And by the way, I think we all know the difference between a gaffe, a mistake and an outright lie! Some of Biden’s words are gaffes. Most are lies.
The media did talk about this. However, it wasn’t big news because most voters know that Biden misspoke, and the overall point wasn’t lost. People think that he misspoke because he has a proven 30+ year record of legislative achievement. The public has seen him kick butt in the debates during the primaries and battling in out in the House Judiciary committee on C-Span. He’s a known article. You may hate his politics, but nobody questions his competence or confidence. He just looked a little like an arrogant “Joe Cool” who misspoke off the cuff. With Sarah Palin, her views and accomplishments are largely unknown. It’s her job to prove her readiness in this short period of time, and she’s failing miserably. You may blame the MSM, but is the MSM causing prominent republicans to lose faith in her? Really?
I wonder if Chap thinks he’s the smartest person in the world or if Biden takes that trophy.
Being the mayor of Alaska is a certain type of experience, but it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s ready to be veep to a 72yr old. I’d beg to differ that Palin’s short period of executive experience compares to Obama’s or Hillary’s years of legislative experience and significance as a national voice. We’ll have to beg to differ on that. The problem your party is having, and the polls prove me right, is that the voters don’t seem to believe that her experiences and readiness compare to a Hillary or Barack.
Incompetent? Sure I think she’s too incompent to be the leader of the free world. Does that mean she’s too incompetent to be a mayor to 50k, or the governor of Alaska, probably not.
Youtube, Karl Rove’s views on Tim Kaine as a Veep based on his experience as mayor of Richmond and governor of Virginia. Then mentally substitute Palin’s name in for Kaine’s.
Yeah, Joe Cool Mr. Biden. The one who got 0.9% of the vote in the dem primaries. I’m impressed.
Really? I guess you’re getting that impression from the MSM. All they want to do is have her in a “gotcha” moment.
Next thing they’ll be asking her about quantum physics.
Funny, no one ever asked Algore about Clinton’s history of legislation while he was governor. Interesting, they’re actually expecting her to know everything McCain has done in his 26+ years of experience.
But you see, they can’t ask Biden that same question, because you Odumbo has NO experience to draw on, except for his 150 days of senate experience. The minute he got into the senate, he started running for president, so basically has no accomplishments to speak of. Oh, and if you’re going to bring up his so-called community organizing that has miserably failed, then you’re stepping on a landmine.
Well, it’s obvious your lack of experience shows too. You don’t become mayor of Alaska, my dear. She’s GOVERNOR of Alaska.
Ah, you and your polls. Have you ever taken any statistics course in your life? I have — in grad school too. May want to check the underlying data. If you know what that is.
biden has been practicing this debate for days or maybe weeks since he has already been givin all the softball questions he will be asked. Somewhere I read that his IQ is 146?????? This guy makes a black and white checkered dildo look like a genius. It won’t take much for Sarah to stump the moron but she will need our prayers because she is up against the master of evil himself (no I don’t mean biden, he isn’t even smart enough to know who he is working for) . So please pray before Sarah’s debate for her to get an opening in these one sided questions to show the nation what a complete idiot moron this fool really is.
Uh, I don’t think so. I think that goes back to his “I have three degrees” and “I’m smarter than you” comment a while back.
Truth is, he has one degree with a double major, not exactly a huge undertaking, believe me.
Oh, by the way, he was at the bottom 1/3 of his class, not at the top, another lie.
Double Standard? What Double Standard? And to think that it is women who usually benefit from these double standards!
Aha, see that was an embarrassing gaffe. I meant to say mayor of Wasilla and gov. of Alaska, but my fingers were a step behind my thoughts. Of course, you probably know that.
There’s no need to lobby insults concerning the polls. I would bet that the “underlying data” still suggest that less than 50% of Americans currently believe Palin is ready to be president. Take the polls for what they’re worth, but smarter people than me use them as reliable indicators.
You can blame the MSM all you want, but again why are some respected conservatives so worried? It’s Palin’s job to demonstrate readiness, and she has thus far embarrassed herself.
When a Democrat pops off with something in a prevaricatory tone, the media reports it unflinchingly as “a spokesman explained that Senator B***n misspoke.”
When a Republican is momentarily confuzzled, the media trumpets, “HE (or SHE) LIED!”
ECS
Yep, I did, but I was making a point. If Palin had said something like that, it would be above the fold front page news on the NYT – the media would be hysterical and hyperventilating that she is stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!
Biden says it, no one notices.
Yeah, the polls…hmmm, I do recall they were completely wrong the last time around in 2004.
What’s that old saying? Most people don’t make their minds up until they get in the voting booth and reality sets in. Let’s see now, a newbie, 46 year old with no experience and a socialist agenda using the tax dollars off the “rich” for massive spending handouts for those that don’t want to work against a veteran with lots of experience, especially in foreign policy and legislative know-how.
Easy decision for me.
I really don;t understand the problem. I’m sure they were all registered Democrats so they can still vote.
