Comic relief: Joe Depot!

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 3, 2008 05:03 PM

I need a chuckle. Don’t you?

Team McCain points out that in his quest to pose as Ordinary Joe, Beltway Insider Joe Biden rattled off the Main Street places he like to hang out:

“Can I respond? Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie’s Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years.” — Joe Biden

His local paper snorted:

“During the debate, Joe Biden gave several Delaware shout-outs, including Wilmington’s Union Street… Maybe, I heard this wrong, or misunderstood, but I think he mentioned Katie’s restaurant…… Wilmington used to have a Katie’s restaurant – way back in the day – and it was in Little Italy, as is Union Street, but I’m almost positive Katie’s wasn’t on Union Street. And it hasn’t been Katie’s in, well, years. Maybe he said Kozy’s – as in Kozy Korner?” — The News Journal

My friends at American Elephants snorted, too — and sent a pefect photoshop of Home Depot Joe:

He’s just like you and me…except he’s not.

Some turd said I should be happy to have 40 percent left rather than the 55 percent. That 15 percent I’m losing is someone’s job. If not an employee then the guy who wants to build an American car for me to buy, or the guy who I’ll hire to work on my house since I’m getting older, Another person on welfare instead of an entry level position. Another tax taker instead of a tax payer.

I worked my *ss off for 40 years in some good jobs and bad jobs to get to the point where I could own my own business and make some money. Now, Obama says I’m too rich, Biden says I’m not patriotic, and they want to steal my money.

If any democrat had an iota of understanding basic economics, they would get their roads built, their hospitals funded, and their public safety and military funded if they stay the hell out of our way.

I know what you mean AJ, but we are passed that, like by about 200 some years. Whether the Articles of Confederation were working or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the officials who met to talk about it were sent to revise the document. But like how all of our elected officials of today think they know best, they chose to dispose of the Articles and write a whole new Constitution.

No, the history and precedent of following the laws of the land when they seem acceptable and just brushing them aside when they do not, is a trait well known by our elected officials from both side and from every side. Perhaps it is human nature.

Either way, to point to the Constitution in today’s time is difficult, when so many times it has been openly ignored.

    FamilyMan,

You have got to learn to let it be. I don’t mean your principles, but I mean trying to figure out why liberals think the way they do. You should understand the way they think as it is predictable as the sun rising in the East, just not why.

Suffice to say I can not and would not try to talk for all liberals, but much of what they do is rooted in the hatred they have for their fellow man and human kind in general. Now they will tell you they love humans, but they do not, they love themselves and they love humanism. The joy they feel, not in the misery of others, but in the knowing they helped to create that misery by “helping” someone or something else.

Their goal, because they are smarter than we, is to set the world in a proper working order, where everything is “fair” and “equal”, of course, only according to their standards.

So you see FamilyMan, if you are in despair, it tells them their job is being done correctly because you obviously oppose their work, and thus are not working for the order of the world as they see it.

    Hope that helps.

I’m in the same boat as you…in 2000, we had 4 employees, and now we have 23.

So, when some liberal asks me if we’re better off today than we were 8 years ago, well, you can figure that one out. And I can also say…yeah, we’re better off, and so are the 22 other employees we hired since then with very good salaries and full benefits. It was a business that was completely self-funded. No debts, no venture capital.

So, if you want to go ahead and tax me more, I just may not be able to hire additional people, or grow the business.

I also live in CA, pay a hefty state income tax (10%), plus a suffocating corporate tax to boot. So, when people say we don’t pay our fair share…think again.

We worked our butts off to get to where we are today.

If any democrat had an iota of understanding basic economics, they would get their roads built, their hospitals funded, and their public safety and military funded if they stay the hell out of our way.

Thank you for that. It clearly demonstrates what is fundamentally wrong with Washington: 1) few have had real jobs for any significant length of time, 2) most are there to get rich, and 3) the concept of the citizen legislator imagined by our forefathers has been perverted into a nightmarish collection of lifelong politicians with well financed political machines that are essentially immune from being unseated.

They know little of the topics they are expected to judge, and don’t even bother to read what they vote on (how many members do you think actually read this nearly 500 page assemblage of earmarks and economically unsound vote buying, written by the very people that screwed it up in the first place?)

Any of the following Lord Acton quotes ring any bells?

“Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”

“And remember, where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. All power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

“The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections.”

“The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks.”

“The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. every class is unfit to govern.”

“Liberty is not the power of doing what we like, but the right to do what we ought.”

    And for you “bailout” fans:

“There is no error so monstrous that it fails to find defenders among the ablest men.”

    Where are today’s Lord Actons?

Why would a lib want to be a lib? OK let me break it down for you… there are 2 kinds of libs. Elites (which are a whole different story) and the rank & file.

The rank & file are failures, plain & simple. It is hard to look at your self in the mirror & say “I am a failure”. To wit it must be someone else’s fault… like yours maybe?

Somehow, because you worked hard, you oppressed them & you are a bad person. So, you should pay for them… it’s only fair, right? Bottom line, they HATE you.

Gwen Ifill, who obviously reads the NY Times each day (she worked there for many years) must have read the devastating article about Biden published on either the day of the debate or the day before. The article mentioned how Biden claims he takes the Amtrak back to Delaware every day. The article noted that Biden does not mention that he uses campaign money to cover the costs of the train tickets and he came up with a flimsy excuse about going home to campaign as an excuse for using campaign donations to pay for his trips. Why didn’t Ifill ask him even one question about it.
Nor did Ifill mention how Biden, who railed against subprime and predatory lenders, was the biggest recipient of MBNA money for his campaigns and he even bought a house on the cheap from the head honcho at MNBA. You have to wonder whether Ms. Ifill was too busy reading the Huffington Post to read the Times article.

Yes, it’s amazing that was in the NY Times. Those guys bought his old house for “top dollar”, sold him the property for cost, and loaned him the money to pay for a 6800 square foot house now valued at millions. Old Joe actually said “walk around my neighborhood…” realized what he was saying and changed it to Scranton.

It cannot be changed by argument or persuasion. As a former liberal, I know this first hand. Some methods that are fairly effective include being thrown out of the house, forced to work in an environment not filled with like minded people, paying lots of taxes, and being exposed daily to the poor people that they think are only poor because society is so unfair. This is what happens to most people in their 20’s and they grow out of it. Still, this is no gaurantee. Worse, there are cases such as people who enter academia or the creative arts that manage to insulate themselves from the real world and cannot be changed by any means. Do not try with them as it is a waste of time, and can even be dangerous. (Think lots of spit).

I am going to vote for Question 1, because, as you say, they will override it or ignore it anyway, but it will send a shot over the bow of the Massachusetts sinking ship.

Well, reason and logic don’t work, so perhaps tasering or caning might be an option! ;-)

Come to think of it, they have good reason to worry. Remember the massive campaign against getting rid of “bilingual education” and the result of all that? Landslide victory for us!

Remember why they wouldn’t let us vote on gay marriage? It wouldn’t pass.

Now how can “deep blue” Massachusetts residents be so contrary to our “progressive” reputation?

Now if we could just torpedo Kerry, Olver, Frank and all the other useless liberal trash…. That it the stuff dreams are made of!

. . . you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years.

Is Biben asking the employees, or the shoppers? Considering that Home Depot is for home remodeling/repair, and that home remodeling/repair isn’t cheap, I would speculate that the shoppers fixing up their homes aren’t econmically hurting in the manner that Biden is suggesting.

I highly doubt that this man has even put a tip toe inside Manworld. I don’t think he’s ever had to worry about such things. I also despise how he likes to insulate himself from criticism or convince people that he’s “just like us!” (gag) by using the death of his wife and his child.

This man has never fixed anything in his life. His family is an institution in Delaware and has always used his flunkies for such tasks. I just wish the people of Delaware would wise up to this spinmeister.

    TOS:

    1. Taking my money isn’t fine.
    2. Taxing my personal property (otherwise known as my vehicle) isn’t fine in the state of VA.
    3. Taxing senior citizens’ and hard-working people’s property that they’re struggling to pay the mortgage on isn’t fine.
    4. Taxing somebody’s inheritance isn’t fine.
    5. Taxing my ability to make a long distance phone call isn’t fine.
    6. Taxing capital gains on investments isn’t fine.
    7. Taxing the dead isn’t fine.
    8. Taxing services like water, sewage, and other local services that I ALREADY PAY FOR isn’t fine.
    9. Attaching federal “fees” to my cable isn’t fine.
    10. Raiding the military budget (that is less than the bigger social entitlement budget) isn’t fine.
    11. Targeting the rich and appointing them the scapegoats of a lazy, do-nothing underclass “tolerated” by Dems/liberals/RINO’s isn’t fine.
    12. Taking taxes out of my meager paycheck to fund an insolvent and fraud ridden system known as Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid isn’t fine.

I know I shouldn’t feed another liberal but I’VE HAD ENOUGH. Do you hear me, TOS? I’ve worked hard all my life and there WILL BE NO TAX CUTS. I don’t care what your precious LIAR Obummer says. We’re in an 11 trillion dollar national debt. DO YOU GET THAT? Do you?

I know where my hard-earned money goes and it isn’t for the majority of the “helpless” or the “needy.” It’s for the deadbeats, and the ones who abuse the system such as Medicare/medicaid. It’s for the illegal aliens who overcrowd the public schools, the increasingly non-existent ER’s, and other public services. It’s for sub-prime encouragement by ACORN.

Do you live in the same world as me? Do you? Do you think that paying MORE taxes is patriotic? There must be some functioning neuron in your brain that acknowledges that taxing 5% of the American population will not pay for all of Obummer’s ambitions. Does Obummer plan to even pay off the debt or just add to it? Do you even know?

You want to help the deadbeats, the street whores, and the crack addicts in the slums of America, go right ahead. I would rather keep more of my money trying to affording inflationary fuel and food costs than live in the bubble that you seem to.

It’s always someone else who pays for liberals’ grand social experiments like the War on Poverty, public education (and I taught in public schools so I know the score), and welfare. Who consulted the American people? Who?

Please prove to me that the American people (in a non-partisan poll) support being bilked of their money. At the federal, the state and the local level. Then we’ll see how obliging you truly are, whether or not you’re as giving as you’d like the rest of us to be.

I hope everyone saw Geraldine Ferraro on Hannity and Colmes. She claimed Palin had lied or said things that weren’t true, and Hannity asked her to name one. She said she couldn’t remember, but that Colmes had the list, or she could she go get her Blackberry with her email! (I’d have to check the transcript for exact words.) I hope there’s a YouTube, I really laughed.
