P.D.S. on NBC’s Sunday Night Football

There is no refuge from Palin Derangement Syndrome. It’s in your storage unit. On grocery stands. And it was apparently on Sunday Night football earlier today. I didn’t watch it, but several readers did. Reader Mike e-mailed:

Olbermann, who I’m pretty sure NBC hired as a football analyst for their NFL show and not a left wing hack, had to rip off a Palin joke during his recap of the Buffalo/Arizona game. Noting a hard sack on Trent Edwards and how he had to be carried off the field, Olbermann said he would return, but “….he did say that he could see Russia from there.” Happened just before 8pm EST. He is such a loser!

Reader mp also saw it:

Just after 8pm tonight during the NBC Sunday NIght Football games summary, Keith Olbermann said that after suffering a concussion, Buffalo Bills QB Trent Edwards said that he could see Russia from here — a slap at Republican VP Candidate Sarah Palin. Enough is enough . I do not watch NBC Sunday Night Football for political attacks. Olbermann must go!

Switch off NBC. It’s Nothing But Crap.

It’s a complicated recipe, but you could take a stab at it.

I think that was sarcasm. I am actually a pretty good cook. My roommate and I in college our Jr and Sr year would cook a big meal every Sunday for us and some of our friends. We would plan it out during the week, including the wine pairing, and then get up (relatively) early Sunday morning, go to the fish market, or butcher and the vegetable stands on Arthur Ave in the Bronx and spend pretty much the whole day cooking.

Our piece de resistance was a 7 course french dinner with duck breast we did the last week of the school year.

I don’t know what all the uproar is about. Olbermann/Patrick on SNF is terrific…if you’re ESPN circa 1996.

Olbermann’s act is tired. His visceral hatred of all things conservative has so overcome his soul that he is wholly incapable of showing a pedestrian highlight without injecting politics.

This is not commentary, this is ridiculous, and Olbermann has seriously jumped the shark. Hard.

I have a question! “Why do you ruin your Sunday night NFL game of the week by putting a d-bag in one of the chairs?”

I can do French cooking too. Last night we grilled hamburgers and I fixed French fries in the oven. Of course, they were baked because I am on a diet, doncha know. But French cooking…I’m there.

Olbermann ruins your NBC Sunday night NFL broadcasts for many people

    Dear NBC Sports-

I haven’t been able to watch the Sunday night NFL game on NBC this season, because you put that no-talent partisan hack Keith Olbermann on the show. I read a report that during last nights’ broadcast, he took a political cheap shot at Sarah Palin. Can you fix this problem for me? I’d like to watch again. He has one of the lowest viewerships for his Countdown on MSNBC show for a reason.

    Thank you,

If he is still there this coming Sunday night I will have to mute the TV when I see him, because the Patriots are on!

I left the following message on the Contact site for NBC.

I’m a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and watch Sunday football on NBC. However, given the commentary by Kieth Olbermann about “seeing Russia” during the Arizona game yesterday when Trent Edwards was injured during the game was beyond the pale. I found the comment, insensitive and lacking in taste or judgment. I love football and watch it regularly.

But, given Mr. Olbermann’s habit of injecting his political views in what should be an apolitical environment. I will stop watching NBC’s coverage of the NFL and encourage everyone I know to do so. In fact, I will opt for pay-per-view for myself and my friends rather than watch another example of Mr. Olbermann’s poor manners and bad political commentary.

Hopefully others will take similar action. Lost market share hurts them and will also cause the NFL to review their contract as they look to make money from NBC.

AFBEN, that was my point. The only democrat supporting men that I know who watch football are minorities or on disability and they usually don’t know much about politics, they certainly could not tell you who their senators are let alone representatives. Olbermann is the typical liberal commentator, he does not know who is audience is. I don’t like having venues where I expect to get away from election issues to have it thrown at me. Olbermann is also the typical liberal, no class no professionalism, he is just like the people commentating here saying, what is the problem? It was a joke, you republicans are whiners. When they know they have cornered the market on “political satire” anywhere at anytime by 90% of the media being of their persuasion.

Though I am a Steelers fan living in Ohio, there is a local radio station that is part of the Steelers radio network. Even though I have to put up with a 2-3 second delay–the audio “leads” the video–I don’t have to listen to Olberdork (not that the rest of the on-air folks are any better to listen to).

I think we should also send letters to their sponsors and decline to purchase any product they advertise on that show till he is gone.

ssnark, good point–it’s not just the politics that made it a horrible comment, but the sheer insensitivity toward Edwards’ injury. No one should be joking on air about any head or neck injury.
