It’s pronounced “Cash Carry”

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 6, 2008 04:44 PM

You have to laugh, but because it doesn’t hurt as much as banging your head on the wall again.

The name of Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s former Goldman Sachs buddy now in charge of buying up billions and billions and trillions of toxic assets to bail out the banking industry:

Neel Kashkari.

Pronounced “Cash Carry.”

Rhymes with: Trash ferry.

Kashkari.

Add it to the list of aptronyms.

***

Commenter BlameAmericaLast: “I actually find more humor in his first name — Neel. Kind of brings a visual, dontcha think?”

Er, yeah.

***

FYI…The Treasury Dept’s official announcement:

Neel Kashkari
Assistant Secretary for International Economics and Development

Neel Kashkari was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Economics and Development on July 9, 2008. He was nominated by President Bush on November 15, 2007 and confirmed by the Senate on June 27, 2008. In this role, Mr. Kashkari is responsible for developing and executing policies for the Department to foster a more conducive investment climate for the U.S., as well as to support global economic growth.

Mr. Kashkari joined the Treasury Department in July 2006 as Senior Advisor to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. In that role, he was responsible for developing the President’s Twenty in Ten energy security plan, enhancing Treasury’s engagement with India, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, and developing and executing the Department’s response to the housing crisis, including the formation of the HOPE NOW Alliance, the development of the subprime fast-track loan modification plan, and Treasury’s initiative to kick-start a covered bond market in the United States.

Prior to joining the Treasury Department, Mr. Kashkari was a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in San Francisco, where he led Goldman’s IT Security Investment Banking practice, advising public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions and financial transactions. Prior to his career in finance, Mr. Kashkari was a R&D Principal Investigator at TRW in Redondo Beach, California where he developed technology for NASA space science missions such as the James Webb Space Telescope.

Originally from Stow, Ohio, Mr. Kashkari graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering. He also received an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School. Mr. Kashkari and his wife reside in Maryland.

Just keep believing those polls, dribble. They are, after all, for the consumption of liberal pieces of s**t like you. The obamination is toast come November and I’ll be laughing at all you liberal morons. In the meanwhile though, why not take a long walk off a short pier?

As I keep saying, if you are sooo sure all those nasty polls are wrong, you can make a nice bit of coin on Intrade. Right now, McCain to win is at 31.8 (meaning you would profit $68.20 on every contract if he wins). Seeing as how the stock market has tanked, I would recommend you take all your life savings and invest in it now.

Why not ask Kerry how those polls worked out for him in ‘04. Or ask Carter how those polls in ‘80 worked out. The only poll that counts is in November. The polls miss one key fact: Deep in your liberal heart burns a hatred for blacks. I’ve seen the liberal mask slip many times and I know you. In the secrecy of the voting booth, where there are no pollsters to see the truth of your elitist bigotry, threatening to expose you for the low-life racist you are, you won’t be able to pull the lever for a black man. So keep on trying to convince everyone that you aren’t what you are, but I know you. Go block a hat.

Now why would they protest about moving the election day to Saturday? I just don’t get it!

Not sure how “gun talk” is appropriate in this thread, (you mention guns a lot, got a little confidence problem?)
YET you refuse to answer questions about voting for RINO’s that supported the “bailout”, which IS appropriate to this thread.

Well, chapoutier- so you say you were able to vote for Obama in a meaningless primary. Maybe you’re a misogynist rather than a racist. But since lefties lie as often as they breathe, I don’t place much credence in what you say. Since you post here on a right wing blog, it seems to me that you might just be a professional provacateur for Obama. If so, lying just goes with the territory. Or, you may be some sort of twisted maschocist who derives pleasure in being abused. It’s not as though you’re going to change any minds here, after all. I’m sure that if it wasn’t for the comic relief you provide, you’d be long gone. Not to worry though. Self-inflicted public humiliation will always command some attention and you may have a bright future in making a fool of yourself in public for chump change. Just watch out for the beak as you bite the chicken’s head off. As far as the bet you proposed, I did so well betting against Kerry that I would gladly place a bet on the heroic John McCain and the beauteous Sarah Palin. Not that I need the money, as I’m doing quite well working for the military-industrial complex, but after all, you can never have too many bass boats. Has anyone considered how much money Paulson & Company will personally make off this fiasco? Seems to me there are big fat fees just waiting out there for investment, consulting, and other private firms as this $1 trillion gets distributed. Paulson is a lame duck and likely will end up in the private sector again very soon. I would hope there are conflict-of-interest rules that would prevent anyone who participated in the bailout on the gov’t side to then go private and make money off the very legislation that they helped push through, but you never know. Something tells me Paulson and many other supporters of the bailout will be stuffing themselves with this turkey.
