Flash: SNL rewriting bailout skit, “didn’t meet their standards;“ NBC posts edited video
Scroll for updates…SNL has posted the edited video…

Well, well, well.
Peter Viles at L.A. Land reports that Saturday Night Live is rewriting its forbidden Soros/Sandler-bashing
bailout skit because it “didn’t meet their standards.”
Translation: It didn’t meet George Soros’s and the Sandlers’ standards!
The scoop:
A “Saturday Night Live” skit that skewered President Bush, Democrats, homebuyers and subprime lenders for their roles in the mortgage meltdown was removed from the program’s website because it “didn’t meet out standards,” a spokesman for the show said Tuesday. An edited version of the skit will be re-posted online soon, the spokesman said.
The skit, a parody of a C-SPAN news conference, ridiculed subprime borrowers, housing speculators and Herbert and Marion Sandler, the real-life couple who built Golden West Financial into a subprime lending powerhouse and sold it to Wachovia before the subprime collapse. At one point in the skit, the Herb Sandler character says he made $24 billion off the subprime boom. Graphics then appear labeling the Sandlers as “People who should be shot.”
“Upon review, we caught certain elements in the sketch that didn’t meet our standards,” a spokesman for the program said in an E-mail message Tuesday. “We took it down and made some minor changes and it will be back online soon.”
George Soros:
Owner, Democratic Party.
Owner, NBC.
***
I’m told the rewrite will remove the “People who should be shot” chyron below the Sandlers.
As for standards…
Commenter madmonk: “Standard[s]? What standards? They ‘joked’ about incest in the Palin family. So again… what standards?”

Via Copious Dissent, the edited video is now up on SNL/NBC’s site.

Enough with the conspiracy theories.
George Soros makes me ashamed to be Hungarian.
Yeah, they’re no longer theories. They’re fact.
Sometimes you have to be thankful when your enemies are stupid. This is one such time, as they cannot help drawing attention to the original skit, while their backtracking via rewrite will only reinforce the message of the original.
Thanks NBC for helping our cause. Never thought we’d see the MSM help get the message out that Democrats, Soros, and predators like the Sanders bear responsibility for the current financial crisis.
Standard? What standards?
They ‘joked’ about incest in the Palin family.
So again… what standards?
Censorship by any other name is still Censorship
Well then, I guess we’ll have to compare the new and revised version against the old one.
madmonkey,
ouch you yanked those words right out of my mouth
You know, ever since I saw that Soros offered his own take on a bail out bill, I can’t help but to remember, that didn’t he make his money by crashing a certain foreign currency?? Ohhh what was it now? Pound, Franc? something like that… oh whatever.
madmonkey, Incest is just another lifestyle choice between 2 consenting adults
(NOT looking at the liberal bar owner who used his own naked daughter as a model for a naked Palin)
Did they hire Winston Smith to do the re-write? I’ve heard he
iswas very good at that type of stuff. What a great service SNL/NBC is providing – a SNEAK PREVIEW of suppression of First Amendment rights under a
nObamaSoros administration.19842009-2013Oh, the show that brought us “Dice Man’s Employment Agency”, “Colon Blow” and “Massive Headwound Harry” is supposed to have standards?
I am thining the writers and artists will not appreciate this decision and will find creative ways to ridicule NBC for throwing them under the bus.
Could get very interesting.
Brook,
easier to list what he hasn’t.
Friendly reminder he was also behind gun confiscations in europe etc. and is
bigtime behind trying to get ours!
Owned.
Does the line in the Palin skit about 2 unwilling teenagers getting married meet the SNL standards?
2009-Obama dies of old age.
We of course will need the dear leader to stick arround long after 2013. Your block leader says you agree.
Conspiracy theory?! I can’t believe you typed that with a straight face.
The second gunman on the grassy knoll. That’s a conspiracy theory. The faked, in-studio moon landing. That’s a conspiracy theory.
This is fact. Cold, hard truth.
Given the poor, bathroom-humor quality of SNL over the past several years, this skit – which was accurate, funny, and well-done – meets, if not greatly exceeds, their standards.
All the evidence points to a massive backpedal and cover-up by the puppet master Soros. But liberals, in their love of all things illogical, will never be able to figure out 1+1 = 2.
Did anyone save that pic of obamabi chatting at fundraiser with soros sitting by staircase? can’t find the creepy thing lil help please
I’m amazed SNL is still going.
I remember a reporter once asked William Kunstler, the lawyer who defended the Chicago 7 back in Bill Ayers bombing era, why he refused to condemn the genocide in Cambodia that ultimately resulted in the death of 1.8 million Cambodians (1/4 of the population).
He said, “It’s my personal policy to never criticize a socialist country.”
That was my first exposure to the mindset behind such thinking. It’s frightening to think anyone could be that politicized. But the Left is full of them.
banshari, Brook? I will let that slide this time…
But isn’t he wanted somewhere for money laundering?? could it be France? Yes, I think it is France. And don’t we have an extradition treaty with them?? Something just seems so wrong with this…
It will be interesting to see what “minor changes” are made. Anything more than removing the “People who will be shot” graphic will be a major cave.
BrookLYN,
insider trading in frogistan.he has messed with many countries $ as well.
But is he or is he not a wanted man?
Not by any women I know.
Well, you have the original to compare against. At least, I hope that’s true. Make sure you keep a copy.
If the only change is the removal of that one caption, I can’t really fault them. Calling for people to be killed is repugnant, no matter who the target is.
It will be interesting to see if the changes go any further than that, however. At which time, you’ll probably want the original available for reference.
“Standards? We don’t need no stinkin’ standards!”
Sorry, somebody had to say it….

In December, 2006 he appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, claiming that the 14 year delay in bringing the case to trial precluded a fair hearing.
hope that helps
I think as long as they only remove the line about “people who should be shot”, it’s good that they’re going to put it out there again. With all of the “they removed it” buzz, millions of people are waiting to watch.
So, I don’t get it–they’re only ‘rewriting’ the skit for video? What about the original show? Will that keep the first one??
Or will this be like the remaking of Return of the Jedi, that took out the old guy actor playing Anakin & replacing it with Christian Haydenson or Hayden Christianson, or whatever?
And you’re surprised? According to Marx, everything is political. Everything. There is no act that humans perform which is not, according to the Communist Manifesto. If you’re not promoting the Party with every breath you draw and every step you take, you’re not holding up your end.
You can see this attitude in plain view over at the DU and DK on a daily basis. They baste themselves in it. Many don’t seem to realize where such directives originate, or care much. But they’re all being good Fellow Travelers when they act out such commandments.
What will the re-write accomplish, other than highlight who had the influence to censor a comedy skit.
Exactly! What did they hope to gain by this? The old one is all over the internet by now. They should have just sucked it up.
bin-sharia re: In December, 2006 he appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, claiming that the 14 year delay in bringing the case to trial precluded a fair hearing.
and the court ruled???
I wonder if that 1996 skit lampooning Pres. Clinton with Ron Brown and the tag “Person who will be shot” ever made it out of pre-production? You know the one…David Spade reprising the “buh bye” flight attendant?
SNL has lost its edge.
Soros is the great abrader.
perhaps they are waiting for al franken to arrive with the “pepsi”, seems they can’t write without it…..
i.e. the skit was clever…something SNL isn’t acquainted with…
that’s not just an ‘own’ its a pwn3d!
Gamers in the crowd know what I’m talking about
If hte media had any sense of decency, they’d be railing about this obvious censorship as much as any of the false claims about Dubya doing it. but then again who am I kidding
Cosmo,
snl lost it’s edge long b4 the 90’s..
Hey. I’ve got a good idea. Get together with a private acting group and use the original script and post it on you-tube. When SNL sues, it will be an admittance on their part, of the true first performance.. That should make some news. Or SNL will see the financial benefit and could use both new and fake script on the next show
God I love agitating. Just like the sixties except I’m on the other side.
From the people that brought you the Bass-O-Matic we proudly announce the all new Script-O-Matic!!!
Just take a script that offends the Democratic Party Drones and scoops the NBC news division, place it between the patented pans and give it a big old spin.
In seconds you come up with a script that’s squeaky clean, seriously unfunny, and left slanted enough to satasfy the tastes of Uncle Monkey and Mister Justice, and still not interupt the unchecked flow of cash between middle eastern “Businessmen” and the Obama campaign.
SNL, how does it feel to owned by the man…
Speaking of which, where did that skit go?
It’s enjoyable to see liberals take pot shots at liberals. The moral of the story is there is no honor among liberals.
OFF TOPIC BUT INPORTANT.This file is of a missing girl in utah Not my daughter, she ended up in jail (long story) but if anyone in utah sees this girl, well the contact info is in the file. Having had to search for my daughter more than once, I can relate.
Though I have no affection for the Sandlers, if the only thing SNL does is remove the label, “people who should be shot,” I will have no reason to complain. Though I thought the label was funny, it was a bit over the top. I don’t like it when they do that stuff to good and decent people, so I don’t think they should do it to libs either. As far as I know the Sandlers have not broken any laws; they’ve just taken advantage of the loopholes created by the CRA, Fannie, & the congressional whores who’ve given us a nasty, economic STD. The more incisive label is, George Soros, Owner of the Democratic Party.
I knew the dems loved rewriting history. But this is THREE days.
SNL has altered/censored sketches in the past, though I do agree commenter madmonk in that some sketches appear to be more offensive than others.
Why is this script in need of editing?
It is clear that anything political, both now and in the future, must be archived before it goes down the memory hole. This is troubling…. must not say things bad about the Messiah and his supporters. Understood. Loud and clear.
P.S. Madonna is a disgrace to women and has set culture in a backwards direction.
Which standard wasn’t met? Was it the one that says you are allowed to poke fun of anyone, but you can only use mean or degrading humor against Republicans?
Couldn’t get into the link, Sonofdy.
It doesn’t meet their standards because there was actually more than 3 laughs in it.
Left slanted? Bwhahahahahahah. Now that’s funny. You must be looking at me from the backside.
BTW, it’s satisfy.
I don’t stay up to watch that nonsense… grow up.
It would be nice that a smaller version of the original -suitable for emailing- was available..the version from Ms underestimated turned out to be too big in size for me to email via yahoo.com
The real question is who wrote and allowed the original bailout skit to happen…perhaps we have an ally to welcome in our midst….

Good question… let’s check the obits this week.
So how does one “rewrite and edit” live? Is this how NBC reports the news too?
If that is all they remove, the line “People who should be shot,” then I agree, that ought to be removed. What will be telling is if they remove anything else from the script.
I can’t wait to compare the edited video with the original, assuming the edited video comes out.
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, PEOPLE!!!! DO YOU KNOW WHY CONSERVATIVES ARE CONSIDERED A JOKE?!?!? BECAUSE THEY FLY OFF THE HANDLE AND CRY OVER NOTHING!!!!
Whether it was having a cow over the “lipstick on a pig” nonsense or acting as if SNL was implying incest in the Palin family, when conservatives get their knickers in a twist WRONGLY, it makes their LEGITIMATE complaints fall on deaf ears. You can only falsely cry “BIAS!” a few times before you are ignored.
Let me explain it to you ninnies: The NY Times sketch was – now pay attention – MAKING FUN OF THE STUPID NY TIMES REPORTERS!!!! Not, I repeat NOT!!!! implying there was incest!!!! To the cloistered elites of the Treason Media, anything outside the island of Manhattan is Indian Territory and/or where sea dragons swim. The reporter whose nickname was “Queens” because he’d fallen asleep on the subway and went to Queens was one gag; the other who only asked about polar bears was another. ALL the reporters were being lampooned for their ignorance of the real world, like being unable to identify a shotgun.
Instead of appreciating the irony of a presumed-liberal TV skit show like SNL righteously thumping the Left for its biases – dating back to the Clinton-Obama debate where the CNN reporters were fawning over Barry – what are too many conservatives doing? Catching the vapors and shrilly fluttering about like LIBERALS and shrieking for their version of political correctness. GET A FREAKING GRIP!!!
I’m hypersensitive to liberal biases that are ruining entertainment (e.g. The awful Body Snatchers update, “The Invasion”, in which the deadly alien organism came from the space shuttle Patriot. Get it? Death comes from patriots. Har har. Ahem.), but there is absolutely no there there with these complaints about SNL. SNL has done a better job calling out the Dems culpability about Fannie/Freddie and media biases and hysterical twits are shrieking about incest, totally missing the point and living up to the liberal stereotypes of clueless moral scolds. KNOCK IT OFF!!!
As for the “People who should be shot” Chyron – that was a little harsh. If they leave the essence of the sketch unchanged (and we’ve got the original to compare it to) and change it to something like “High-rent scam artists”, there’s no harm done. Move the heck on, mmmkay?
Trollman re: If that is all they remove, the line “People who should be shot,”
It always strikes me as odd that the same people who are always calling for someone to be shot are the same people who hate guns… it’s down right queer.
(oh, I that meant in the original sense of the word).
The Sandlers may have lousy ethics and they certainly did their best to lure people into their dangerous ARM mortgages but the real boneheads are the two CEOS of Wachovia Bank who have, for all practical purposes, destroyed Wachovia. The first banana brain is Ken Thomas, who thought it was a nifty idea to pay 24.2 billion dollars to purchase a “bank” which specialized in toxic mortgages. Any kid in middle school could have looked at the books of Golden West Financial, seen that most of its mortgages were so called “stated income” mortages and known enough not to spend ten cents on this empire of crap. But Thomas, the highly paid Wachovia CEO, thought everything was peaches and cream. Then along comes Bob Steel, the current CEO of Wachovia. Only a few weeks ago, he was assuring everybody that Wachovia was just fine and dandy. You have to wonder what world he is living in. The Sandlers may have lousy ethics but they could not make the CEOs of Wachovia buy their empire of bird turd.

Yooo Hooo ACORN, fresh meat!
Kickbacks? Sweetheart deals? We’re talking about people who made billions of dollars peddling junk.
BTW, I heard the CEO of Lehemann had a close encounter with a disgruntled employees’ fist. The times we’re living in…

Well, you see, many of those calling for gun control (Obama, Pelosi, etc.) have people that carry guns for them. Guns for me, but not for thee.
Dirk you ignorant slut. We are NOT crying over this. We are laughing.
Just in time to vote in Ohio.
Little unfair to all the idiots, don’t you think? Any idiot would make a better judge than that assclown. I hope they settle those terrorists within walking distance of his house.
This is the best thing that could happen to NBC. Get ready to pay a really big fine to the FCC. The NAL (Notice of Apparent Liability) will reflect that NBC transmitted objectionable material over the public airwaves in violation of FCC rules. NBC subsequently edited out the offensive material “People who should be shot,” from the broadcast tape and their Web sites. This is a mitigating factor that might reduce their forfeiture amount. It is also a confession to the charge.
Now don’t you think for a second that they will get off when Barak’s elected. Remember who they pilloried in the piece.
John McCain should mention the clip tonight in the debate. This clip, along with the Jim Cramer on The Colbert Report and Alex Baldwin on Bill Maher should be thrown in Barak’s face. Let the democrats spin that. They would also make some damn effective campaign ads.
When is John McCain ever going to get another chance to say that Saturday Night Live, Jim Cramer, and Alex Baldwin all agree with him.
Sorry jaya, re; hope they settle those terrorists within walking distance of his house. they are on the short list for airport screeners in Detroit. Well only 15 of them, one is going for his hazmat shipping licence & the other is becoming a community organizer (also in Detroit).
I think it would be interesting to find out just what standards weren’t met. SNL has spent its entire lifetime as a comedy show working outside any standards of human decency and decorum, so what are they talking about? My guess is that it was too good and too on point, so they decided to redo it.
Of course! (thumps forehead with heel of hand) Why didn’t I see it before? You have a keen sense of the ironic, my friend.
Yeah, I agree. I took the Palin segue as a joke, in that they were leaving something important to cover something trivial.
Yeah, the part about “should be shot,” was over the top and should be removed. They shouldn’t be shot. They should be indicted, convicted, stripped of all proceeds, and jailed…for the rest of their lives. Not so much because they made money, but because it appears evident that they were part of a larger criminal enterprise that rewarded them with the understanding that the democrats would get repaid. They have certainly repaid in campaign contributions. How about a SNL skit on that little fact. Nah, let’s just keep pounding on Palen’s child that got pregnant at 17 and is getting married to the child’s father. That’s the ticket!!
Oh, and about the “should be shot” comment. How is it wrong to say that, but okay for that brainless actor, Alec Baldwin to go on a late night show and call for persons to be dragged out of their homes (with their wife and children) and be killed? I don’t remember any retraction on that program.
Once you lose integrity, the rest is a piece of cake.
Folks, Jim Downey wrote the sketch about the Palin-incest thing….he was making fun of what NYT reporters would WANT TO REPORT. Please, stop attacking SNL for some sort of Palin derangement on *that issue*. They’re full of PDS, for sure, but not Jim Downey!!!!
Please, focus on what Tina Fey is attempting to do & what the other writers are doing to smear Palin & stop mistaking what Jim Downey, one of the good guys, is trying to do.
Standards? What standards? The completely lame false accusations of incest about Todd palin seemed to meet their lame standards. I will not watch that show anymore. Wasn’t watching it much as it is.
As near as I can tell, all they did was edit out the “People who should be shot.”
Did anyone notice anything else edited?
Besides “people who should be shot” they got rid of this bit:
Michael,
If what you say is true, then we just saw 1st Amendment fly out the window, then get blasted out of the sky by Democrats.
I have no problem with removing the “people who should be shot” graphic. After all, remember how much conservatives (rightly) protested Craig Kilbourn’s tasteless “Snipers Wanted” overlay on a photo of then-governor George W. Bush?
But the jab at Sandler is right-on, and removing it is nothing short of pure censorship. Shame on NBC.

That’s the first thing I thought of when I heard about this. Republicans really ought to be embarrassed for postulating all these insane conspiracy theories about George Soros controlling NBC. The bottom line is that you can’t say to shoot someone on national television.
