This is what they meant by “in your face”

A glimpse of things to come?

Via the Lufkin Daily News:

A Lufkin woman received a surprise visit from the Secret Service last week because of a “death threat” comment she reportedly made about Sen. Barack Obama to a campaign volunteer asking for her support of the presidential candidate.

Two federal agents arrived at Jessica Hughes’ home Thursday to ask her if she said, “I will never support Obama and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor.”

Hughes said her words were deliberately twisted by a volunteer who was apparently unhappy Hughes was rude during a phone conversation the two had. The Lufkin mother, a Republican, said she received a call on her cell phone Wednesday from a woman with the Obama Volunteers of Texarkana.

“She asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I replied, ‘No, I don’t support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time.’ (And then) I hung up.”

(Hughes is referring to a “born alive” Illinois bill that did not pass in the Illinois state Senate in 2005 and had previously been opposed by Obama because he said it undermined Roe v. Wade, according to FactCheck.org, a non-partisan organization. A federal version of the bill, which Obama said he would have supported, passed by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002.)

Obama Campaign Communications for Texas director Josh Taylor declined to comment Monday, refusing to answer any questions and referring the matter to the Secret Service, which he said is conducting an investigation. A message left with a Secret Service agent in Houston was not immediately returned.

This is what they meant by getting “in your face.”

Yes, it is. And 5 years won’t be enough re-education in an Obama administration! :-)

Anyway, I know I posted this here last night and I apologize for being repetitive, but Mike is my brother-in-law’s cousin and a finer man you can’t find anywhere. He was just nominated to run for sheriff again with over 90% of the GOP primary vote. He enjoys a lot of support throughout our county.

This man will not back down. He’d rather lose his job.

I’m sorry the link didn’t work. Here it is again: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27075121

If it doesn’t work again, here’s the text:

LEE COUNTY: Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott may have more to worry about than just the court of public opinion. Federal investigators are now looking into whether Scott broke the law by campaigning for John McCain.

Officials with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel say they have received so many phone calls from the public that they launched an investigation into Sheriff Scott on Tuesday.

The question is – did he use his position as sheriff to influence an election? If so, he could be in violation of a federal election law called the Hatch Act.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office receives more than $1 million in federal grant money from everything from human trafficking to bullet proof vests.

But if Sheriff Scott is found in violation of the Hatch Act, the feds can pull two years salary worth of federal funding – the equivalent to $300,000 for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Another possibility is removal from office.

Regarding the federal investigation, Sheriff Scott sent us this statement:

“I am on duty 24/7 and 365 whether in or out of uniform. Like every other elected official, I am aware of from President to Governor to State Representatives, etc. We engage in political activities whether for ourselves as candidates or for others. As of this writing, I am unaware of having done anything to generate all this attention other than using the senator’s full name.”

We should also point out that Bill Cameron in Charlotte County and Kevin Rambosk in Collier County were both reassigned to avoid violating the Hatch Act.

    Cameron is still under investigation.

As for how long Scott’s investigation will take, the feds say they’d like to have all of the Hatch Act cases wrapped up before the November election.

On a positive note, when I went into town yesterday, I saw more McCain/Palin yard signs (about 15 to 1) than I did for Obama.

And I live in CA. Interesting, isn’t it?

Granted, I don’t live in flaming liberal San Francisco, which I’m sure will be in the 90% Obama camp, but still…goes to show you that intelligent people aren’t swayed by “the one”.

Like Obama will never die? Dern, HE MUST BE THE MESSIAH. I predict Obama will die – sorry – he will. I also predict millions of babies will die before he does. Where is the outrage over the killing of millions of babies?

So what? ITS HIS MIDDLE NAME. Is he ashamed of it? I could see some validity to this whole thing if his middle name was norman but it is “hussein”. My god, what a big deal over nothing.
It just proves to me that any dissent against Obama if he wins will be labeled “racist” or a “hate crime”. The weak minded will of course buy into it.

Englisqueen, I’ve just finished listening to a series of Cd’s by Father Corapi and this thread reminds me of something he said. He stated that liberals had, in fact, become the enemy of the Faith and that we, as faithful followers, need to fight the good fight to get our country back to what it had been before the failure of liberalism and welfare. He stated that we are to act as soldiers and follow the oath that some of us took in service. We are to never give in to the enemy… we are to strive to escape the enemy’s clutches at all times. We are to resist the enemy’s influence at all times. So Obama’s minions won’t drag us away because we will fight to the death.

OK I agree that Obama is a socialist and has attempted to squelch opponents in the past, but it’s silly to tie this directly to him.

Remember who these people are who run the phones for local campaigns. They’re fanatics who can’t accept that their guy is a monster. You know her comments just made the caller mad enough to mis-report them to authorities to get revenge. This is who liberals are and what they do.

Now the Obama campaign very well might take note of this and include it in future tactics, but I seriously doubt this instance was an organized attempt at silencing an unbeliever.
