ACORN Watch: 1 voter, 72 registrations, ciggies and cash
NYPost’s Jeane MacIntosh is doing great work exposing ACORN’s standard operating procedures in Ohio.
A man at the center of a voter-registration scandal told The Post yesterday he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times, in apparent violation of Ohio laws.
“Sometimes, they come up and bribe me with a cigarette, or they’ll give me a dollar to sign up,” said Freddie Johnson, 19, who filled out 72 separate voter-registration cards over an 18-month period at the behest of the left-leaning Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
“The ACORN people are everywhere, looking to sign people up. I tell them I am already registered. The girl said, ‘You are?’ I say, ‘Yup,’ and then they say, ‘Can you just sign up again?’ ” he said.
Just doing the thug thizzle that ACORN and Obama know so well.

Are there no depths to which the Dem’s will stoop to win? I’m not saying the Republicans are totally honest, but I haven’t heard of them being accused of anything of this magnitude.

The only coverage I’ve seen yet on this has been on FOXNews. You know what the NYT’s is reporting on? How states have illegally dropped voters from their voter rolls. That’s all they’re concerned with.

I’m sure this will cause plenty of liberal outrage. After all, what were they thinking handing out those evil cigarettes? They should have been passing out condoms!
Personally, I believe if a person is too lazy to get off his butt and go register, he probably won’t get off his butt to go vote either.

What I don’t understand is why the courts have not stepped in and banned ACORN from all Voter registrations. With this much fraud in every state they operate, ACORN can’t claim that it is just a few bad apples. It is clear to everyone that their goal IS voter fraud!
How can there not be an overriding State interest in ensuring the integrity of elections?! Making voting easy and convenient is noble, but not at the sacrifice of Democracy. Demand proof of citizenship to register! Require photo ID to vote! Allow absentee ballots only for narrow reasons! Ensure voter rolls can be cross-checked against independent databases such as Social Security and against rolls in other locations to prevent multiple registrations!
It’s no wonder “liberal interpretation of the rules” means “cheat”.
No wonder Obama’a ahead in the polls. They can call one voter and have it count as 72 for Obama.
In order:
1. Provide background on ACORN.
2. Gather articles like this.
3. Emphasize the DIRECT threat ACOR posses to the 12 battlegound state results.
4. Show how 5 MILLION subprime mortages went to illegals assisted by ACORN.
5. Show Obama’s many, many, many many times to ACORN.
6. Combine the above and then RELENTLESSLY CLUB Obama like a baby seal with it.

I love that you’re doing these stories though, and I’m glad to finally be hearing it on the local and national news now.
If they did that, would the next logical step be to ban all third-party organizations from doing the actual registering? That might be one way to keep everything above board (until the next Dem scheme took shape, at least).
At this rate he will take all 57 states for a record-breaking 630 electoral votes!

In order to make voter registration a little more ethical and accurate, might I suggest these guidelines:
1) Proof of citizenship (birth cert or passport would work); if you can’t afford a copy of your birth cert (usually $7) then one will be provided for you by the local government–I wouldn’t mind helping cover that with my tax $$$;
2) Proof of residence via a driver’s license or ID card; if you do not have a residence or cannot afford a DL, one will be provided for you–and a shelter or other location can function as a residence–as long as proof of residence (i.e. log book, etc.) can be documented
If you don’t have ID because you don’t want to be “on the grid” then you don’t get to vote. Sorry. We need to establish a house of order here in the U.S. If you don’t want to be “found” then don’t vote for those who may need to find you.
There are certain privileges and rights in this nation that come with strings. Voting should be one of them.

ACORN pays by the hour 8.00.
Acorn has a policy of setting quotas. If the worker doesnt meet the quota he or she is fired.
ACORN is suppose to reveiw the names of those submitted (The poll collecters DO NOT take the names to the county registars. The ACORN management does) It is ACORN management therefor that submits the faudulent names not the workers.
What people forget is the other aspect of this. The main thrust isnt getting phoney names on the voting roles (Thats just a side benefit.) THe main thrust is to BUY the vote of the vote register.
Think of it the democratic party is giving millons of voters out there MONEY to go out and not only collect votes FOR them to to actually vote itself.
The whole real focus isnt to steal the election through fraud but rather steal it by buying votes out there via this method.
The whole scheme is nothing more than a massive vote buying racket.

But I don’t really understand how they are buying votes. Even if someone is paid to register, they are not bound to vote one way or another. Can you clarify?

I think it’s pretty obvious that their system is flawed (hence the investigations). But did they choose that system specifically because it would lead to fraud? I guess i’m not convinced of that (seeing as there really isn’t any evidence).
As Familyman said, it is doubtful there is an ACORN “how to – voter registration fraud” offical handbook to know for sure. However, it is certainly plausible that the intent was to encourage multiple votes. They could have signed these guys up in different districts, but more likely, have the person go to the poll once a day at different times and vote (72 would be a little hard to pull off). That would reduce the chances of the same workers at the polling station catching on. But if real busy, no telling how many you could get away with. Now, they paid per registration, so why would I now think they would not pay to get the votes in?

DO you think ACORN teaches its workers to vote for the GOP ?
The way it works is simple. Show up to work for the democratic party and they give you money. Its as simple as that.
By making the party the employer they garauntee the worker will then VOTE to keep its employer in power to further keep their jobs. Its a self substaining socailist method of insuring voter loyalty.
I agree that it is plausible, but I think it is much more likely that employees just wanted extra money. Since no one has provided evidence as to the multiple vote theory yet, I’m more inclined to go with the theory that doesn’t involve a conspiracy.
The pay per registration thing is not a secret. However, I have yet to hear of them paying employees to get people to vote.
Look, it comes down to this; if federal voting laws are being violated, then the individuals violating the law AND their employer (ACORN) are on the hook.
I don’t believe it’s any more complicated than that.
