I received several e-mails today from readers complaining about Barack Obama’s backdrop in Toledo today. Apparently, some talk show hosts have also gone ballistic over what they think is an “Obama flag:”
Relax, folks.

I think I speak for most people here when I say:
lgm is in constant violation with these terms. His being here constitutes our constant lack of “enjoyment of this site” as he constantly thread-jacks like in this very post about the flag. It is NOT about Palin and I, for one, am pissed that he is using the liberal talking points to twist the idea this guy can taser a child and it is horrible that he got fired and that somehow it constitutes an abuse of power. PALIN SHOULD HAVE SHOT HIM WITH A .50CAL BLACK POWDER RIFLE. Now, should I go on about his constant attacks of Michelle instead of coming to her defence?
Oh, and I am pissed BlindMule was booted because of his faux hurt feelings.

Trop may be objecting to all levels of the McCain ticket because she afraid of strict Christian view of Palin toward homosexuality.

No, Troopergate did not propel her to the GOP ticket. I meant, the means (abusing power) justified the end (to get Wooten fired). That seems to be the conclusion on this blog.
All I’m asking is why didn’t the Palin’s take LEGAL means to have him fired.
Kissing the ass of the base got her on the GOP ticket. That’s a mistake McCain will have to live with for the rest of his life. The base is getting smaller and smaller is it’s ideology is exposed as a complete failure.
Is the GOP so lacking in talent that McCain could find no one better for a running mate? I hate to think the party is THAT bankrupt of talent.
Had someone like Gov. Haley Barbour of MS run for President, I’d be going door-to-door for the guy. I doubt he’d have picked Palin as a running mate.
Trop please stop pretending to be anything but what you are, a blind Obama supporter. Palin violated no law. The trooper didn’t even get fired. The guy who did get fired got fired for other reasons. End of story, Take your Obama talking points elsewhere. Maybe someone else will believe them.
I concur with Soap. It’s one thing to have a dissenting opinion or idea (no issues there). It’s another thing to continuously attempt to change the subject on post after post with nothing more to offer than the off-topic liberal talking points for the day.

Do the ends justify the means in this circumstance? Yes, it protected human life WITH CERTAINTY. Do something, choose wrong; a man loses his job. Do nothing choose wrong; members of your family die.
You oppose torture? Tell me that when your daughter is buried alive, her oxygen runs out in 10 hours, and the police have her kidnapper in custody. What means should the cops use to find out where your daughter is and save her? I know what my answer is, “Open his mouth and get out the file.” Works for Spetsnaz and works for me.

I don’t mind “trolls” on this site. It would be kindof boring having all of us here, saying the same thing, over and over. Besides, I’m not like a liberal emotion-driven person. I read opposing views and let them ride. We, as conservatives, don’t submit to name-calling, as liberals do. Let them post, understand their view, and let it help you better understand your own position, as well as theirs. In other words, set the example.

BM photoshopped lgm as a Nazi. lgm used his “I’m Jewish card” to get him banned. Was BM over the top? Maybe so but, lgm defends the terrorists at GITNO so I hardly think his being Jewish is something he worries about unless he can take advantage of it. Sadly, after BM apologized, he has not been heard from since. BM sure added to this blog while, conversely, lgm takes away. I miss the mule!
graysonet, it’s not the dissenting opinion that is the issue, it’s the threadjacking. There are liberal posters here with which I have no issues because they stick to the topic. I’m likely to disagree with them on almost every subject, but that’s okay.
However, the ones that ignore the topic of the post and insist on derailing the conversation in their own direction… I wouldn’t mind seeing them booted. Those are the real trolls. They are adding nothing to the discussion and they know it.
Bottom line: Being liberal doesn’t make you a troll. We have a few conservative trolls on this site as well. Using, as some would call it, “swoop and poop” tactics in an effort to annoy and distract from the topic of the post is trolling by the commonly understood definition.

Did you read the report lgm? I did. Do you know what the abuse of power was? (keep in mind this panel was not as bipartisan as the MSM is portraying-shocker).
She was 100% with in her authority and within the statute to fire the Monegan. He flat out did nothing to Wooton (her ex brother in law) after he tasered his 11 year old step son, drinking and driving, drinking on the job, making death threats to her family and kept telling folks that nothing would become of the investigation because he was wearing a “badge”. Nice. Im sorry, who is abusing authority.
So where did she abuse authority? That she didn’t “control” her husband’s involvement in Wootons disciplinary investigation. Umm, if I had death threats to a family member and no one was doing anything about it, they’d be lucky if all I was doing was calling up constantly. Give me a freakin break, what a waste of paper.
Monegan in May 2008 (3 years AFTER the investigation began) sent a picture of Wooton to Palin’s office for her to sign for the Memorial Day event honoring their troopers. When Palin’s office called Monegan to ask why he would send a picture of Wooton to sign, Monegan said “I didn’t know that was Wooton”. Yet he was supposedly “investigating” this case for how many months?
Not to mention Wooton was collecting workers’ compensation benefits while driving his snow mobile and hunting, yet he couldn’t “work”.

Just trying to relate to liberals.
The Ohio flag is not an obama logo, but is the Obama Logo derived from the Weather Underground Logo???

Many people in a government serve at the prerogative of the executive. As far as I can tell that was the case with the public safety commissioner. If Gov. Palin was unhappy with his performance, she had every right to replace him no questions asked. Somewhere up there in the top reasons for being upset with an official who works for you is failure to properly discipline a subordinate. This state trooper was a danger to his family and to the people he was supposed to protect and serve, and he was an embarrassment to the state as long as he remained employed by them. Advocating for his removal was the right thing to do as a citizen of the state, governor or otherwise, as is seeing that the refusal to hold police to high standards is punished properly.
Just in general, I think people are either confusing or purposely obfuscating two separate issues with respect to Troopergate.
1) The pressure the Palins put on Monegan;
2) The firing of Monegan.
They are two separate “things”. Just because the investigator said it was okay for Palin to fire Monegan for whatever reason she wanted has nothing to do with the propriety of the initial pressure. If Monegan had never been fired, you could still find that the pressure brought to bear was unethical.
I have seen a lot of people defend the Palins because Wooten was(and is,undeniably) a jackass, maybe a dangerous one and out of some concept of self defense. Which I think is fine, but that is not the story the Palins have given us. They deny any pressure was ever brought to bear, which, looking at the facts, is laughable.
Ultimately, as I said before, even if every word of that report is true, so what? Is it bad? Yes. Is it really any different from how any powerful politician uses his or her power? No. Sometimes they abuse power to the benefit of someone (like a cushy job or sweet contract) sometimes to the detriment (like here). We should not encourage or dismiss it, but along the spectrum of abuses, this is pretty low on the totem.
That picture was on a page with his whole photobucket list! Lgm has brought more negativity and hate here than that picture ever could.
I’m sick of libs being offended because of the slightest thing, yet they spew their vitriol at will.
Let’s bring back Mule and lose lgm so he can’t be offended again.

The report said the weight of “personal gain” was not there and according to the rule of law (as admitted in the report), there would have to be “personal gain” for there to be “abuse of power”. The report can be shot full of holes - starting with the timing. Why should there not have been pressure applied to fire this guy? Would you not do the same? Would any “normal” person not do the same? This stinks like three day old fish and holds NO weight in light of other “abuse of power” charges being ignored in DC. Sorry, I have to just ignore your constant shots at Palin so I can remember you as an intelegent person I have always thought you to be.

Maybe I haven’t made it clear that I really don’t care that much about troopergate. I dislike Palin (on a political level, not personal) because (in order of importance):
1) her politics. I am liberal. She is not.
2) I truly think she is clueless. I think she lacks intellectual curiosity and is generally too unintelligent to be veep. Seriously, while I obviously disagree with you and others here politically I would rathe have you or aloha or salt or any number of other posters here as veep because at least all you demonstrate intelligence. I am sorry if you think less of me because I find her wholly unimpressive as a potential veep.
I like Palin and the trolls, though for different reasons. I think Palin is down to earth, has common sense, is honest, and would rather have her than a fake nobel peace prize winning chicken little like algore any day of the week. Liberals and fascists (but I repeat myself) talk about her lack of experience, yet can’t explain their support of obummer, who by the way has less experience than Palin, except in playing the race card and ear size. I like the trolls because they remind me which side of the line I stand on. When I find trolls like lgm and tos exhibiting common sense or anything approaching a remote grasp of reality and personal responsibility, then I’ll worry. I remain fascinated and entertained by the huge, glaring, and stupid lies put forth by our resident leftists…their contempt for innocent life and the military, their defense of the most egregious crimes and atrocities…how anyone can go through life that willfully deluded and still expect to be taken seriously is nothing short of amazing. Last, Ohio resident here, and why we have a pennant rather than a flag I have no idea, that’s just the way it is. I just hope they burned the pennants after obummer stood near them so the evil spirits can be sent back to the nether regions (democrat utopia.) Thus endeth the rant….

I am just disappointed in your constant troopergate posts. I just don’t think an intelligent person can read the report and come away with, “abuse of power”. I said it before; “If she shot him I don’t think that would even be an abuse of power”. The guy was scum and should have fired him before it ever got this far. Nobody had “personal gain”, the whole litmus test of “abuse of power”. Even the report stated such. The report is a complete joke and anybody who can sit there and hold it up and say, “see, abuse of power” is being;
a. dishonest
b. disingenuous
I just think you are smarter than that and could see through the smoke screen. Oh, the Palin’s didn’t come out and admit blah-blah-blah. Let’s talk about your man and his lies and cover-ups. Let’s start with the lie Bush and McCain want to take away half of our social security benefits and have Obama apologize for that whopper. You and I know they want to give us an opportunity to invest up to half of it (which would leave a death benefit to our families instead of nothing like it is now Uncle Sam keeps it all). Your man is so full of corruption and you have the audacity to point the finger at “troopergate”? Been to this blog lately? Where is the park in the south side of Chicago? Seems he gave a lot of money to a friend and it never got built. Did you see what he did to the Senator who gave up her seat for him only to request that he honor her request to step aside and let her have it back? Did you see what he did to get to the point of being unopposed during his senate run? Log on to PBS and watch for yourself. The man is crooked as the day is long (and – shhhh don’t tell anybody – he is not black).
