I am just disappointed in your constant troopergate posts. I just don’t think an intelligent person can read the report and come away with, “abuse of power”. I said it before; “If she shot him I don’t think that would even be an abuse of power”. The guy was scum and should have fired him before it ever got this far. Nobody had “personal gain”, the whole litmus test of “abuse of power”. Even the report stated such. The report is a complete joke and anybody who can sit there and hold it up and say, “see, abuse of power” is being;

a. dishonest
b. disingenuous

I just think you are smarter than that and could see through the smoke screen. Oh, the Palin’s didn’t come out and admit blah-blah-blah. Let’s talk about your man and his lies and cover-ups. Let’s start with the lie Bush and McCain want to take away half of our social security benefits and have Obama apologize for that whopper. You and I know they want to give us an opportunity to invest up to half of it (which would leave a death benefit to our families instead of nothing like it is now Uncle Sam keeps it all). Your man is so full of corruption and you have the audacity to point the finger at “troopergate”? Been to this blog lately? Where is the park in the south side of Chicago? Seems he gave a lot of money to a friend and it never got built. Did you see what he did to the Senator who gave up her seat for him only to request that he honor her request to step aside and let her have it back? Did you see what he did to get to the point of being unopposed during his senate run? Log on to PBS and watch for yourself. The man is crooked as the day is long (and – shhhh don’t tell anybody – he is not black).

I can respect your not liking Palin because you are liberal – fine. Let’s be honest about who is the bigger problem here and who really is abusing power.

Maybe I haven’t made it clear that I really don’t care that much about troopergate. I dislike Palin (on a political level, not personal) because (in order of importance):

1) her politics. I am liberal. She is not.
2) I truly think she is clueless. I think she lacks intellectual curiosity and is generally too unintelligent to be veep. Seriously, while I obviously disagree with you and others here politically I would rathe have you or aloha or salt or any number of other posters here as veep because at least all you demonstrate intelligence. I am sorry if you think less of me because I find her wholly unimpressive as a potential veep.

P.S. Mule did post it here several times. He apologized. It did not seem to make a difference. Let this be a lesson to us all. Never hurt a liberal trolls feelings.

The report said the weight of “personal gain” was not there and according to the rule of law (as admitted in the report), there would have to be “personal gain” for there to be “abuse of power”. The report can be shot full of holes – starting with the timing. Why should there not have been pressure applied to fire this guy? Would you not do the same? Would any “normal” person not do the same? This stinks like three day old fish and holds NO weight in light of other “abuse of power” charges being ignored in DC. Sorry, I have to just ignore your constant shots at Palin so I can remember you as an intelegent person I have always thought you to be.

BM photoshopped lgm as a Nazi. lgm used his “I’m Jewish card” to get him banned. Was BM over the top? Maybe so but, lgm defends the terrorists at GITNO so I hardly think his being Jewish is something he worries about unless he can take advantage of it. Sadly, after BM apologized, he has not been heard from since. BM sure added to this blog while, conversely, lgm takes away. I miss the mule!

That picture was on a page with his whole photobucket list! Lgm has brought more negativity and hate here than that picture ever could.

Care to take this one (Mr. Troopergate)?

Just in general, I think people are either confusing or purposely obfuscating two separate issues with respect to Troopergate.

1) The pressure the Palins put on Monegan;
2) The firing of Monegan.

They are two separate “things”. Just because the investigator said it was okay for Palin to fire Monegan for whatever reason she wanted has nothing to do with the propriety of the initial pressure. If Monegan had never been fired, you could still find that the pressure brought to bear was unethical.

I have seen a lot of people defend the Palins because Wooten was(and is,undeniably) a jackass, maybe a dangerous one and out of some concept of self defense. Which I think is fine, but that is not the story the Palins have given us. They deny any pressure was ever brought to bear, which, looking at the facts, is laughable.

Ultimately, as I said before, even if every word of that report is true, so what? Is it bad? Yes. Is it really any different from how any powerful politician uses his or her power? No. Sometimes they abuse power to the benefit of someone (like a cushy job or sweet contract) sometimes to the detriment (like here). We should not encourage or dismiss it, but along the spectrum of abuses, this is pretty low on the totem.
