Spread the wealth, swallow the crap sandwiches

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 13, 2008 05:43 PM

I know you all are dying to weigh in.

Plumber to Obama: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more. Isn’t it?”

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Crap Sandwiches: It’s what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Thats 18-19 years for me to get to the same place as the high school dropout.

While he wasnt a drop out, a good friend of mine drove a beer truck right out of high school. He was always in the money, while I was living off mayo sandwiches in college.

But I always knew that 20 years later, unfortunatley, he would still be driving a truck and I would be a millionaire.

Funny how times are. This summer my son was at a random place at a wild party at a camping area. He was telling me about this guy driving one of those $1/2 Mil campers with a big SUV and a boat with girls hanging all over his toys.

Turns out my poor uneducated friend from high school is now an executive with that beer company…. (and Im not a millionaire lol)

ENVY. That’s all it is … ENVY.

Meanwhile, ride (lock your doors first) through any “poor” neighborhood in any state in the country and what do you see? Kids wearing $300 sheepskin jackets and $200 sneakers, satellite dishes, expensive cars (probably being hidden from repo men).

You want more than you have? GET A JOB AND WORK FOR IT!

My comment to McCain/Palin Campaign. Does this make a lot of sense? Who can we send it too? I.m afraid McCain/Palin will lose….

“This is an important election because now we are seeing the difference between two cultures–not just candidates. Both Palin and McCain have been Doers. The Democrats have been leaning more towards promoting Talkers. Their high level candidates are now invariably lawyers. Look at who the Democrats rely upon—Big Media, Trial Lawyers, College students, analysts, community organizers—These are all Talkers. They are not doers who actually produce tangible value in our society.

The political history of Sen. Obama has been to rely upon the Talkers and if he is elected he will base his decisions upon what the “talking heads” in our culture tell him is important, not necessarily what really makes this country work. I was able to see this especially in the VP debate. Palin had no duty to stoop to the level of the questions being asked and she tried to get beyond them, but I did not feel very well. There needs to be a debate of what the real issues will be—and these are defined by a clash between the cultures of Conservative Doers vs. Liberal Talkers.

Palin and McCain need to speak, heart-to-heart with the American people and not get absorbed in the direction these other voices are pushing.

    1. Economic Crisis. This is only in the last year. THE OVERALL HISTORY DURING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION HAS BEEN THAT OF INCREASING PROSPERITY. Corrections in the Markets are a normal part of a prosperous society. Furthermore Democrat pressure on lenders has played a major role in producing the toxic assets that are bringing banks down. Palin should have pounded this fact in. But instead the Moderator (Ifill) defined the question.

    2. Criticism of Iraq policy. Prior to the Iraq invasion I never heard from one Democrat any alternative suggestion. They could not, apparently, come up with one. So they should not self righteously criticize now. The Media has invariably played up the blood and gore, with virtually no reporting on the prosperity and stability being created in Iraq. Once again the Moderator defined the issue and Palin did not get past it to the real truth.

3.Experience. Viewed in years of service Biden was a no contest winner. It would be better to talk about whose viewpoint would coincide with our most important allies–such as Europe and NATO. Europeans have been rejecting liberal leaders and electing conservative ones: Sarkozy, Merkel, Karamanlis, Berlusconi, Silva. Eastern Europeans are also choosing conservative leaders. London has elected a conservative Mayor. It is important that we see eye to eye with our European allies. Having a common viewpoint would produce a lot more valuable diplomatic effort than all the combined years of experience Biden might muster. This should not even be an issue.

    4. Energy. Our current economic crisis is largely due to high energy prices and that is due to insane, liberal opposition to petroleum exploration that has now come to a head. However, Democrats, here, are hitting on a very important issue; we need new industries to produce jobs. Alternative energy sources will do that. And that is why Democrats are gaining so much strength in the upper Midwest. I think Palin would support this, but she did not say very much about it. JOBS ARE AN IMPORTANT, CRITICAL ISSUE. Even if it takes government spending Republicans need to get the upper hand on this one!!! Instead they are letting the Democrats own this issue.

Last issue: Obama is a recast of Lyndon Baines Johnson. LBJ created the Great Society—-and even Democrats would agree that this failed. Clinton had to reverse a lot of their programs because people abused them too much. I think Obama would create a “Great Society; Part Two.” We are already headed in that direction and it is, this time, an Internationalized Version. For example, our Social Security system is being routinely abused by foreign citizens. The influx of illegal immigrants is another symptom of this new welfare system–sytematically removing American jobs in the process. The Doers in America–like Sarah Palin’s evangelical friends–are already doing what can be done to help poorer countries. Liberals should join in with them instead of criticizing them and promoting the slow destruction of American jobs through their internationalized welfare system.

I want to see if McCain and Palin would go after the tax cheaters who are undermining our financial stability. There is $350 Billion of uncollected tax revenue every year and this is why Social Security is in trouble. From my experince in blue collar trades and working in a union, I know that people treat government contracts like a joke—and that the extent of the black market and unreported income is huge. Both Palin and McCain need to stand up for honest Americans and hold Democrats who belittle authority accountable.

I believe the culture that Gov.Palin belongs too are honest, constructive people, ready to help. The culture Obama and Biden belong to are schemers and critics and people who make money from trouble–like many lawyers do.

McCain/Palin need to point out that they belong to a different culture than the liberals. And they need to CONNECT with the American people and disregard what these debate moderators think.”

    Sincerely,

With all this income, the state is still broke and wants to tax its working citizens even more. California rewards bad behavior and choices.

The people I know using section 8 housing, receiving food stamps, free medical, welfare, etc. spend money on things that are totally not necessary. I hardly ever use my air conditioner or heater, because I want to save my money for other things. These people get their utilities at a reduced rate and run these things all the time. If I ran my utilities that much, I wouldn’t be able to afford groceries.

I know what you mean. There are scumbags that live next door to me and they leave their outside lights on 24/7.

Now, I am a firm believer in letting people do what they want with their lives. They can smoke, drink, gamble, have sex with all their friends , fill their house with electronic gadgets, spend incredible sums on glamour vacations, buy rent to own furniture and go to bars and restaurants every night. It is all fine with me, really. But dammit, I AM SICK OF PAYING TAXES FOR PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE THAT ENJOY COMFORTS I FEEL I CANNOT AFFORD! I work hard, live comfortably yet simply but always have money whenever I need it and never sweat paying the bills. Yet I am 100% sure I will be punished for my efforts with higher taxes in an Obama administration to pay for programs for the so-called poor.

My financial stability was not inherited, nor was it easy to come by and can easily be lost in short time with a relatively few reckless decisions. I will not be shamed or made to feel guilty for what I have by the greedy, lazy left. If they want more out of life, let them work harder and stop spending money they don’t have. It really isn’t that complicated.

The American experiment in democracy rests on this insight. Its discovery was the great triumph of our Founding Fathers, voiced by William Penn when he said:

If we will not be governed by God, we must be governed by tyrants.

Explaining the inalienable rights of men, Jefferson said,

The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time.

And it was George Washington who said that

of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.

And finally, that shrewdest of all observers of American democracy, Alexis de Tocqueville, put it eloquently after he had gone on a search for the secret of America’s greatness and genius — and he said:

Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the greatness and the genius of America. America is good. And if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.

There is sin and evil in the world, and we’re enjoined by Scripture and the Lord Jesus to oppose it with all our might.

I pointed out that, as good Marxist-Leninists, the Soviet leaders have openly and publicly declared that the only morality they recognize is that which will further their cause, which is world revolution. I think I should point out I was only quoting Lenin, their guiding spirit, who said in 1920 that they repudiate all morality that proceeds from supernatural ideas — that’s their name for religion — or ideas that are outside class conceptions. Morality is entirely subordinate to the interests of class war. And everything is moral that is necessary for the annihilation of the old, exploiting social order and for uniting the proletariat.

Well, I think the refusal of many influential people to accept this elementary fact of Soviet doctrine illustrates a historical reluctance to see totalitarian powers for what they are. We saw this phenomenon in the 1930s. We see it too often today.

Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness. Pray they will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach the supremacy of the State, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.

    Who said that?

Was it former pastor Mike Huckabee?

No, it was former President Ronald Reagan.

Go re-read Reagan’s speech. It’s never been more relevant than right now.

I was talking with my old man last night, a Chicagoan his entire life, except the 6 years he did in the Navy during Vietnam. Here are a few excerpts:

Gas in Bartlett is $3.30 right now. (Here in No VA, it’s about the same, after the Gerry Connelly “bilk’em for all they are worth” tax). If he drives back home to DuPage county, it’s $3.69. All taxes. But, if he drives to the land of Milk and Honey (aka Chicago) for work, it’s hovering around $3.89.

He’s been robbed at gunpoint twice this year in the city (Didn’t Obama and his friends ban guns, then step up Federal enforcement at the tune of hundreds of millions, because CPD is basically corrupt and worthless?), and both times they took broken computer equipment.

Parking is $18.00/hour, and all the parking is city run.

Forget nickel and dime, folks. The Democrats, under a Chicago politician, will dollar and “fin” us to death.

So here’s my question, for the debates:

Sen. Obama, you have stated that you will increase taxes for everyone earning greater than $250,000. In DC, where I live and work, the home prices have risen extremely rapidly under your “equal housing” plans to the point where $250,000 annually barely qualifies you to get property, let alone pay the other costs of living. In you home town, gas averages $.50-$.80 above the national average, and in most major cities gas trends higher than the surrounding area averages. When you levy this tax, what are you plans for these large cities like Chicago, LA, and New York, which for the most part will become vacant due to the collapse of incomes your taxes will cause?

Since this can be interpreted two ways, I’ll be charitable and assume you’re coming down on the side of the individual to retain his/her wealth and possessions.

I’m fine with sharing. I donate my time, talent, and treasure to causes I think are worthy.

However, I am not compelled by the government to do so. I do it because I choose to.

In a free nation, that should be my choice and my right.

There comes a time when “charity” crosses the line between being helpful and enables bad behavior. In America, everyone has opportunity to be successful.

If we’ve learned nothing from the current financial crisis, it’s that those who are responsible often don’t find themselves in trouble. But they’re punished and forced to care for those who don’t.
