When a few unruly McCain-Palin supporters show their anger at campaign rallies, it’s national news. It’s an epidemic of “Weimar-like rage” and “violent escalation of rhetoric,” according to New York Times columnist Frank Rich. It’s the “reemergence of the far right as a power in American politics,” according to Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne. It’s a mass movement of GOP crowds “gripped by insane rage,” according to newly-minted Nobel Prize Winner Paul Krugman.
Too bad they don’t give out global awards for the Blindest Eyes in Punditocracy. We’ve just hit a trifecta.
Are a few activists on the Right getting out of hand? Probably. Between massive ACORN voter fraud, Bill Ayers’ and Jeremiah Wright’s unrepentant hatred of America, and John McCain’s inability to nail Barack Obama on his longtime alliances with all of the above, conservatives have plenty to shout about these days.
But a couple of random catcallers do not a “mob” make. And there’s an overflowing abundance of electoral rage on the Left that won’t make it onto your newspaper’s front page.
Last month on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a small, brave contingent of McCain supporters marched through the streets with campaign signs. They were met by a menacing horde of New Yorkers who displayed their disapproval with a barrage of jeers and vulgar gestures. (“The number of middle fingers in the ‘progressive” crowd’is directly proportional to the number of PhD degrees in the ten-block radius,” one of the witnesses wryly observed.) A YouTube video of the confrontation now has nearly half a million views (link). But don’t expect to find it on the nightly news. It doesn’t fit the Angry Right narrative.
Neither does the near-riotous reaction of Barack Obama supporters to a McCain/Palin sign in Democrat-dominated Prince George’s County, Maryland. Buried in a back local section, the Washington Post reported this week that “pandemonium” broke loose when an unsuspecting businessman erected a “Country First. McCain/Palin” message on the marquee at his Colony South Hotel & Conference Center.
“Operators of neighborhood e-mail group lists cried foul to their memberships. The NAACP logged calls. Community leaders demanded boycotts of the hotel, a common venue for Democratic events,” the little-noticed article reported. A black professor called the sign “a stink bomb in the middle of the living room” of Obama land. The poor hotel manager, Alan Vahabzadeh, surrendered. “I didn’t even realize it was going to be like this.”
Can’t blame him for missing the fiery hint from Portland, Oregon – where two deranged vandals were arrested after throwing a Molotov cocktail at a McCain yard sign in the middle of the night. Nope, didn’t make it into the columns of Rich, Dionne, or Krugman. Doesn’t fit the Angry Right narrative.
Speaking of “violent escalation of rhetoric” you never hear about:
*Obama supporters in Philadelphia sported “Sarah Parah is a [disgusting vulgarism referring to female genitalia]” t-shirts and yelled “Let’s stone her, old school” over the weekend.
*An Internet artist has designated Palin an “M.I.L.P” – “Mother I’d Like to Punch” – and published a drawing of a man’s fist knocking a tooth out of the Alaska governor’s mouth and the glasses off her face.
*“ABORT Palin” grafitti has sprouted on the sidewalks of Seattle and “Abort Sarah Palin” bumper stickers are spreading on Web stores.
*Sarah Palin-bashing Madonna performs before an audience of thousands, screeching and threatening to “kick her a**.”
*Getty Images publishes a photo of a man pointing a fake gun at the head of a cardboard cutout of Palin on display at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition building.
And no one blinks. Not a peep from the Obamedia.
But when Sarah Palin simply spotlights Obama’s longtime relationship with Weather Underground bombing terrorist Bill “We Didn’t Do Enough” Ayers?
“Inciting violence,” frets NBC reporter Ron Allen. “Concerned…for Senator Obama’s safety,” agonizes ABC reporter Terry Moran. “Beyond the pale,” cries Obama campaign manager David Plouffe. As if the no-holds-barred Obama campaign has ever had a rhetorical pale to stake.
All the world’s a Kabuki stage for the selectively outraged over rage.

It is pure projection. The Libs have been doing this for years (because it seems to work). Accuse the other team of what you are actually doing, but you are doing it to the tenth degree. They even plant people in the crowds so that they can light the fuse of their attacks of abbuse. The mistake is, most Americans could care less. This is a fight and Americans expect some blood. It works only as a distraction (probably their real goal) so that any news of substance can be washed out with the dishwater.
Yes – I am outraged about several things. ACORN voter fraud, the MSM’s love affair with Obama, Obama’s connections to terrorists and crooks, and McCain’s inability to make a knockout punch and make conservatives happy he is running. If he doesn’t do something spectacular in the debate tonight, then all is lost.
It would be interesting to note which newspapers will even carry this syndicated article. Because, as we have all observed, questioning the media bias falls on deaf ears in the editorial room. They just won’t carry it.
The rage against Sarah Palin is a tribute to her popularity, effectiveness, and threat to The Left.
Nothing will stop these attacks, because the press has lost its soul, as has the broadcast media. Changing them is not a possibility. So, just like rough seas you have to plow through it and not let it distract your course or your message.
The message will come out. I have every confidence of that.
Not a surprise. Get ready for the Stalinist regime to take over come 2009. Viva la proletariat! This is going to be a wild ride.

These libs are going to get more than a taste of rage should The One be elected. After the lightbulb goes on for the DEMwits who are supporting him, maybe we’ll hear a “cross” word or two from them about how the media never informed them about the real Obummer — as the rest of us take to the streets. But they’re going to have to see the destruction he’ll bring for these idiots to realize it.
The left is terrified of Sarah Palin. All the hateful e-mails I get re the election are about her — and she’s not even running for president.
I attended the Palin rally in Richmond, Va., on Monday and it was astounding — in the huge numbers attending and their enthusiasm. The lines serpentined to about 10 times that of the most popular ride at DisneyWorld during the height of vacation season. It was so encouraging. People were able to speak their minds without using hushed tones and cutting their eyes to see who they might be angering.
Of the two groups closest to us, one drove about 80 miles to attend and the other over 100.
The venue had to be changed the day before the rally because it could only hold 6,000. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported the crowd at 25,000! And believe me, they were FIRED up for Sarah.
Thanks to fear of Obama style politics, Canada is now even more Conservative. Wake up America, cant you see whats at the end of Obamas rainbow? You-all may as well move the White House to hollywood and turn it into comedy central.
McCain has failed to Knock-out Obama because McCain REFUSES to. He does not attack enough! Why is Wright off the table? Because McCain doesn’t want to be labeled a RACIST. But he is labeled a racist ANYWAY! SO ATTACK you crochety old man!

He did an interview with essence magazine to clear the air and at the bottom of the article they put up a poll. Do you want to know what the thought-provoking poll queried for? Is Harris a sell out? 63% believe he is. It’s going to get much worse before it gets better. Not holding my breath re: tonight’s debate.

All stops are being pulled because the libs realize this is their one chance in history for the gathering perfect storm to fall in place – when all factors are coming together for them to take the Presidency; a veto proof senate; and a bigger majority in the House.
They know that with a win, this may their first and only chance to “Socialize” this nation putting in policies that may take generations to undue (policies that may not be able to be undone). They know there will be vacancies on the Supreme Court and will stop at nothing to get to a point where they will have a Court that will truly pass the laws they know they would be unable to pass in the legislature after this term.

Another well supported article Michelle! The nervous Nancy Frank Rich of the dying NYT doesn’t even have a clue how angry those of us on the right are about the BS that has gone on under the MSN radar from our tolerant yet rabid opponents on the left. Of course we have self control and for most of us manage to go on with our daily lives without resorting to the thug tactics of the left. Our patient is quickly being pushed to the point that many of us are one incident from pushing back and when we do the rabid leftist will not like the results.

I would love for the “tough guy” who came up with the above graphic to meet up with the real-live Sarah Palin one day. As he is picking up his teeth from the floor and wondering if his testicles will ever again descend from his body cavity, he would be able to contemplate the importance of being polite to a woman who is capable of kicking his butt.
The solution to this is Palin should take liberal MSM questions head on and attack back with above facts…If Palin is gonna avoid unscripted questions form press, she will be considered not-confident and preses will print whatever crap they want.

I object to the threats of violence against Obama. I don’t really object so much to the ones against Palin or McCain.
Of course, the reason is that I kind of hope the nutburgers actually try something against a decorated war vet or a sharpshooting elk-hunter.

Maybe some of the rage in America now is attributable to the MSM and it’s bias toward this election. When people’s voices are suppressed in the media, something is going to have to give.

Spoke with a liberal friend of mine last night, and she asked me why on earth I liked Palin. I just said, “Well, why do you NOT like her?” her response “Everytime I see her I just want to RIP her face off with that folksy BS, she is so stupid”. Me: “So that’s why you hate her? Because she talks different, and if she talks different that makes her stupid?”
She in any event had zero clue about the details of Troopergate.
I asked her if her family was in the same position where someone was threatening to kill a family member (taking note, its Todd that was calling not Palin) what would she do? “Too bad, you have a responsibility to as a Gov to uphold the law?”
Oh, and this was my favorite, “She’s out there working but tells other woman to stay home with the kids”. So I ask her, “When did she ever say that?”. her response, “I dont know”.
This stuff is 100% spooky. Its like she’s been brainwashed. She’s always had left leanings, but never in my life have I EVER heard her talk so unkindly and so completely Unhinged about another person – for reasons she just could not explain to me. No evidence.
In fact, I’ve never heard her that angry.
Frightening.
Actually, lgm’s post, like all his/her others, misses the point. Unable to consider another meaning in context, or simply not smart enough to realize the possibility, he/she jumps on the word.
Is it remotely possible that the term, “waterboarding” was used to insinuate, allegorically of course, that we should attempt to get more information out of this candidate which, until now, has been avoided, lied about, minimized and obfuscated?
But, in lgm’s tiny world, the use of this term has made it okay to advocate REAL violence against voters whose opinions differ.

i talked to a friend this past weekend who is a lib, and he spoke the same way regarding palin. she’s a stupid wh**e, who went to numerous colleges to get a lame degree. she’s just a smiley faced c**t, she’s some alaska governor because they are all horney men in alaska and she’s got t**s. when i asked him why the hatred and vitriol over someone who has been on the national scene for 1 month and never said much of anything derogatory about anyone. he couldn’t answer, so i told him to stop reading the daily kos and whatever blog he’s reading. truly PDS.
They are long beyond “reporting”. That’s a 20th century concept. Now it’s all propaganda.

This column was in the Rocky Mountain News this morning, right next to Paul Campos whine about the angry people at the McCain rally, proving your point. Yours was entitled “Unhinged on the Left” while his was entitled “Unhinged on the Right”.
Well I’m angry too. Angry at McCain for not fighting harder, for trying to be the nice guy when the other guy will use any means to win. The nice guy doesn’t win in politics. Angry at the voter fraud, the foul-mouthed hateful violence from the left, and angry at the large majority of really stupid people in this country who can’t see through the Obama mystic to the narrow-minded, racist, inexperienced, non-leader that he is.
I hear you Common Sense #72. I also see the Campos column in the Rocky and get nauseaous reading that. I’m angry about the nice guy attitude of McCain. Maybe it because politicians are always worried about the bridges they may or may not burn. It’s just flat out time to get loud and truthful. We Republicans are going to be called “attackers” anyway–let’s not go down without a big fight–and let’s make sure these demoncrats know they have been in a heck of a fight!!

I’m done! I can’t take anymore. How outraged can a person be, before they just go nuts. This has to end. Too much. How can I be so out of the mainstream thought processes? Then I see Palin and McCain on SNL cavorting with what I would consider the enemy. Why am I in such a state if they can handle it just fine, win or lose? And I’m not the only one. There are millions of us. There is no relief in site. I will vote for McCain and then go on with my life. Iraq will deteriorate into civil war. North Korea will rear it’s ugly side again. Israel will be forced to take action against Iran. And we will be here with our heads up our proverbial @$$e$ as we discuss reparations. Fillibuster? Maybe not. Ruth Bader-G. will wake up to retire. I’m just voting for McCain and then going on with my daily routine and wait for the end.
