“Baffled:” Secret Service can’t find anyone to corroborate reporter’s “Kill them” claim
The “Kill Them” claim spread like wildfire across the MSM as evidence of “insane rage” on the Right. Barack Obama mentioned it during the debate.
Now that the Secret Service has investigated and failed to find a single person to corroborate the reporter’s claim, I’m sure you’ll be seeing this on the front pages and nightly news lead stories in all the media outlets that spread it.
Right?
Riiiiiight.
The Times-Leader reports:
The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.
The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Oabama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him.”
News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.
Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.
“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.
He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.
Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell “kill him.”
“We have yet to find someone to back up the story,” Slavoski said. “We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it.”

That reporter must be Kryptonian to have heard something that no one else heard! And did the reporter mention what he heard to any security present at the time? I guess in an Obamessiah world it doesn’t really matter what the truth is, some idiot said it so it’s gotta be true.
How about Obama’ age? No one has mentioned yet how Obama can’t get his age right yet. He and I are both the same age according to his bio. He claims he was born August 4, 1961 (I was born July 4, 1961). That would make him 47 years old. Now, either Obama is a total moron and doesn’t know his own age, or he is lying because he has said a number of times and tonight in the debate is one of them, that, when refering to Ayers, “40 years ago I was 8″. UMmm…..there is something drastically wrong with that. How old are you, Obama? Where were you born? Where was your mother in 1960?
So does that mean that the reporter is going to be charged with making a false claim?

A Lufkin woman received a surprise visit from the Secret Service last week because of a “death threat” comment she reportedly made about Sen. Barack Obama to a campaign volunteer asking for her support of the presidential candidate.
Two federal agents arrived at Jessica Hughes’ home Thursday to ask her if she said, “I will never support Obama and he will wind up dead on a hospital floor.”
Hughes said her words were deliberately twisted by a volunteer who was apparently unhappy Hughes was rude during a phone conversation. The Lufkin mother, a Republican, said she received a call on her cellphone Wednesday from a woman with the Obama Volunteers of Texarkana.
“She asked if I was an Obama supporter, to which I replied, ‘No, I don’t support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the state Senate to let little babies die in hospital closets; I think you should find something better to do with your time.’ (And then) I hung up.”

A reporter making something up?
Fox News should report on this story. It would be helpful to the McCain campaign if the angry crowd narrative could be knocked down right away.
That damn reporter made it up, of course. They don’t report news, they make news. For Obama. For free.

Recently, Tammy Bruce was interviewed about the tactics of the left. She said that when she was on the left, they would plant their own operatives at rallies of the opposition do to this sort of thing (make loud or obscene comments) that of course the media would then pick up and immediately associate with the group having the rally (it never occurred to the wonderfully inquisitive media that these people could be plants?). I guess now they’re cutting out the middle man and reporting the falsehood without even bothering to have a prop to shout the remarks.
I think this claim was originally attributed to John Murtha who, lately, has developed quite the penchant for producing huge, steaming piles of BS.
If the story cannot be corroborated, then they should have to print a retraction. It may not make the MSM rolls, but McCain could use it to offfset Obama’s claims in speeches and in a commercial, if necessary.
BTW, we never heard Obama once criticize any of the nasty and hateful things the left has said about the Palin family, or about GW Bush during the last 8 years, while he was talking about the uncivilized tone of the campaign. How wonderful to have such a selective and convenient memory of events. His lack of conscience will make him a wonderful

Agreed. If someone shouted “kill him”, then it was undoubtedly caught on tape since all these events are recorded. Produce the recording, or it didn’t happen.
This should not be a surprise. Its one more hapless reporter in the tank for Obama doing his or her part (his in this case) to get The One elected by smearing McCain, Palin or both. Its time someone started an anti-Fairness Doctrine 2.0 war chest because the arguments you’re going to start hearing from a tut-tuting Democratic Congress after their triumph on Nov. 4 is they need to quell the hate speech coming from talk radio for the good of the country. I’m serious, folks, the way things look now, Rush, Sean, O’Reilly, Mark and Laura are endangered species unless an effective counter is launched. In fact, Fox News in general should be thinking of what they’re going to do. I would like to see someone put Obama on record for this position on the (Left Wing Liberal Only) Fairness Doctrine.
