Hey, what a great way to control the content of the Internet. Is it any big surprise that this would come up? Scary, but not unexpected of Obama.
Obama is one who doesn’t want to let the free market decide if the free market decides against liberal talk radio and web sites. If these things fail on their own because the vast majority of us don’t want to listen/go on the site, why then, the gub-mint will just have to step in.
Actually, I should say control what one sees on the Internet.
I’m sure everyone is thinking what I’m thinking; a new target for the Fairness Doctrine.
The only thing I can see making a profit under bho, is gym’s. The actual people who pay taxes will be storming in to make their bodies limber enough to get their heads between their legs to put the smooch on their hind end. Tip of the day, buy gym stock.

CTO = Chief Technology Officer. Companies (and dictatorships) need them to insure that the technology in use by the company (dictatorship) meets the standards (kickbacks, bribes, and payola) that the company (dictatorship) needs to create a better product (control every facet of your life)

I do not believe that it matters at this point. Obama will win. I believe it is “fixed” for him to do so.
Some will say, a no vote is a vote for Obama. I cannot in good faith give either one my vote.
We are going right into hell regardless of who wins.
I want my conscience clear knowing I stood up for my values and ethics.
If by some lucky chance McCain wins, there will be a massive revolt…either way, it’s dangerous.

rightwingmon, I understand that, but I also understand that we as conservatives have basically laid down on the job. I dislike them immensely, but the moon bats and all on the “other side” get out and make a racket. If we could find the time in our daily lives to do something that really rattles cages, I think we have a decent chance. It would take a lot to do away with the second ammendment.
So far I have not been surprised, and this is an inevitable step toward the Brave New World Order. Call it what you will: Illuminati, Bilderburger, Skull & Bones.

One thing we have been working on heavily in our household for the last year when I saw the country stampeding toward the abyss. Ensure you have plenty of ammunition to go along with those 2nd Amendment purchases too. The anointed one wins this thing you can expect loss of free speech thanks to the anything but Fairness Doctrine (say goodbye to talk radio) and Big Daddy Government control of the internet (say goodbye to this site). Then watch for his goons (National Defense Force) attempting to come for our guns.

I can really believe it. See, back in the early 20th century, there was this little Austrian guy who didn’t care much for anyone who disagreed with him. He was especailly notorious for wanting to eliminate Jewish people. You may have heard of him, Adolf something-or-other. He had a persuasive speaking style that, along with corrupt political manipulation, established him as Chancellor of Germany. Times were rather tough under his rule.
I don’t know if you’ll “get it.” What you should get are some history books. No, Obama will not be a direct analog of Hitler, if for no other reason than Obama is mostly just a patsy. But a recurring theme with dictatorships is that they gain power by convincing the majority of their subjects that they’ll be benevolent, in the face of warnings to the contrary. The threat never becomes obvious to everyone until it’s too real and too late.
This is how they will enforce the “fairness doctrine” on the internet.
Mysteriously, “DailyKooks.nut” and “dearleader.com” will always resolve properly but all attempts to browse to “michellemalkin.com” or “rushlimbaugh.com” will get redirected to “IVolunteerForReeducationNOW.org.”
You know the King of England thought he could pull that crap too. But it just didn’t seem to work out to well did it? Again, if we get off our keisters and rebel against this, it may let the people know we’re not going to take it laying down. I have no idea what a CTO will do, or not do. The author of the article said there is no clear definition. Would the CTO be a cabinet position? What kind of portfolio will the position carry? Will the CTO have an office in the White House? In the OEB? Or, be just an advisor?
I know jack about about how the internet works, but aren’t there already conventions (agreements) about .com .edu .gov .whatever? And, who is the body representing the US? Or, is there a body?
Generally speaking I am against expanding the government, but I could live with some sort of advisor in the Commerce Dept, with a small office, maybe in the basement, who will then ocaissionally write a paper to be delivered to the Whit House.
Relocate to Idaho you can walk out of the gun store with the weapon of choice and some ammunition to get you started no waiting period or permit required. Unfortunately you still have to fill out the paper work that flags you to the ATF database (have to agree with Arizona Neanderthal that it should only be a convenience store) another agency known for its ability to violate a law abiding citizen’s 2nd Amendment rights.

Please, gayle, vote. Especially if you’re in a red state. Don’t give up however tempting. I’m still a conservative but will vote for McCain even though I will vote absentee in the state of NY.
Unfortunately, Obummer’s surrogates like ACORN have put distrust in the voting system and I’m afraid that the election officials will not have enough time to sort it all out. They had the last 8 years to sort it out but still everything looks pretty haphazard. It will take a systematic purging of all voters (especially those who are dead, illegal and felons) to sort it all out and reregister the hard-working, honest folks who value their one vote.
If you cannot vote for either, write your choice in or vote for one of the other independent parties. Don’t forget the local, state, congressional, and senate races (if it applies to your state).
I agree. I’ve already gotten a preview of it in the public schools where there is no order, no expectations, no accountability, a total fear of “individuality,” and no discipline. Now, expand that to the uncivil America that we live in today and vis a vis, we’re living in hell except for the liberals who don’t mind gangbangers, druggies, the homeless, and the illegals.
Then you should. And make sure you apply that to your family and how you raise your kids. I certainly will. And, if you have children, think about homeschooling. I think the movement will expand even further during an Obummer administration because school will not improve during that period (especially given Obummer’s reticence toward vouchers and school choice).
Yes, I’m sure there will. I’m not scared. If you haven’t already done so, make sure you know how to protect yourself either through self-defense or gun safety training. I recommend this to all women (especially the young and unattached). It’s hard to be a victim if you’re a fighter and make it hard for someone to victimize you.
OMG, I’m so with you there. Here in VA it’s like 4 or 5 Obummer commercials to McCain/RNC 1/2 commercials. It’s really quite disgusting how the Dems and Obummer (through “just” private citizens’ donations wink wink) are buying the election.
I agree with you here too. Middle class and blue colar folks are ridiculed by the effete elite for resisting the “one” and get called “rednecks” by the Mr. Piggy Bank himself Murtha. We get ridiculed for believing in religion, working hard and wanting to keep more of our money while the lazy welfare schemers/cheats get away with their sloth, and preserving our first/second amendment rights.
Some country we live in, huh? Many military men and women, including my husband, have fought for people to whistle along while everything burns around them. What the Dems and the ignorant have forgotten is that there are a lot of us who won’t let our country go down the tubes. Dems can buy elections but they can’t buy any of our silence or acceptance.

Now i understand why the FCC allowed XM and Sirius to merge. After all, there were only 2 satalite radio systems, yet they were allowed to create a monopoly. Analog tv signals stop in Feb. so everyone goes to digital via SAT. or cable. The fewer media outlets that there are, the easier to control content. Those who control information, control the world.

Well I am not ready to go there… but I have been job searching for several months now. And guess what! when I apply to a company & click the “white box” no response… 2 weeks later I send the same resume but click the “other box” & guess what, they want to talk… OK the salary drops 15K, but it is interesting, no?
The fairness will be government mandated.
And, the daily beatings will continue until morale improves.
