Taliban assassinate Christian relief worker, world yawns
Evil reigns in Afghanistan.
Apathy reigns everywhere else.
It reminds me of how the world shrugged at the South Korean Christian hostage ordeal.

A BRITISH aid worker gunned down in Kabul yesterday was murdered because she was a Christian, the Taleban claim.
Gayle Williams, 34, was shot at close range by two men on a motorbike, in a residential district of the Afghan capital popular with missionaries.
Eyewitnesses said she collapsed in a pool of blood, after the men fired six shots from a pistol, hitting her in the chest and legs.
Daolad Khan, who was working on a building site directly opposite the murder scene, said: “They raced up the street and stopped in front of the lady. They took out a gun and shot her on the spot. Then they rode off.”
Security officials said it was the first time an international aid worker had been killed inside Kabul since 2001.
The Taleban said they carried out the attack on the grounds that Ms Williams was trying to convert people to Christianity. “This woman came to Afghanistan to teach Christianity to the people of Afghanistan,” militant spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said. “Our (leaders] issued a decree to kill this woman.”
Williams was working for a British-based Christian charity called Serve Afghanistan. Staff there insisted she had never tried to convert others.
Rina van der Ende, a spokeswoman for Serve in Kabul, said: “They are here to do NGO aid work. It’s not the case that they preach, not at all.”
Mike Lyth, the London-based chairman of Serve Afghanistan, said he had lost a “close personal friend” who had devoted her life to helping others.
He said: “She was working with disabled children: blind children, deaf children and children hurt and maimed by the fighting.”
Colleagues last night paid tribute to a “selfless” woman dedicated to her work. A message on the charity’s website read: “Gayle was not a woman who thought of herself. Her time and energy were always spent on behalf of others.”

She was a woman speaking hear mind in an Islamic(religon of peices) country. Thats 2 crimes right there. Being a woman and speaking her mind.
Another poignant example of the lack of attention given to the murder of Christians. We hear about “civil war” in countries such as Darfur and Bosnia, but the root cause of the war (terror against Christians) barely gets mentioned, if at all.
Great will her reward be in the next life.

I had good friends who served over there right at the beginning, and this was what we all prayed would never happen – to them, or to any of the other selfless aid workers there. Before they left, they reminded us of the following quote (not sure if it was attributed to Hudson Taylor or another missionary):

McCain foolishly has not made an issue of Obama’s oped in the Chicago Tribune right after 9//11/2001 in which he wrote that Americans should try to understand the motivations of those who commit crimes against Americans. Obama said that it was “difficult” to look beyond the immediate tragedy but it was necessary to understand why those who kill Americans do so. It may be that Obama got this notion from this friend Rashid Khalidi, a radical Palestinian professor who inevitably was given the top job at the Columbia University School of MiddleEast Studies (where Ahmedinejad was invited and honored and feted by Coumbia president Lee Bollinger.

Open the eyes and hearts of those who would use Islam or ANY faith as a justification for bigotry and violence. It is not too late for them as long as they are still alive.

Imagine if we started shooting muslims for preaching their religion here in USA. World Outrage! I was on the subway this morning and spotted one of those signs promoting islam.. was very tempted to rip it down, but the car was too crowded to even get to it.
Obscene. They murdered a woman who helped disabled children. It’s difficult to comprehend. I would hope that most people’s responses are along those lines of difficulty rather than apathy. The U.S. media, of course, would only take an interest if she were a visiting celebrity aid worker.

My comment was simply my faith’s interpretation of prophecy, albeit very abbreviated. I was not and am not trying to start a discussion of prophecy. I was only trying to say that in the end of time, things will not look good for Christians, but I should have added that God will be with us.

If we had dictated to them the way we dictated to the Japanese when developing a constitution, this would be less of a problem.
But when you let a government be formed based on a political ideology that is contrary to democracy and freedom of thought, killing in the name of said ideology quickly becomes the norm.
This is why the Japanese Constitution is not based on Shintoism. And this is why the Afghani congress doesn’t have a problem with a Christian convert being sentenced to death for being Christian. We allowed them to base their constitution on sharia. Same in Iraq.

I think the west is never going to wake up and see that Islam is not a religion but a government system that is hell bent on world domination. Maybe you should get on the google and see what’s happening to Christians in Iraq. It’s worse than Afghanistan. Is the Iraqi government terrorist? Before you answer that, remember that it’s the government we put there. Saddam Hussein treated Christians better than the present government does.

It wouldn’t matter if we had 200 million troops over there if the hatred imposed by “radical” (ie most of) Islam is willing to kill people for spreading Christianity they will still do it despite an overwhelming police-state to attempt and stop them. Because they don’t care if they die after they have murdered a Christian, that just makes them an instant martyr in their eyes worthy of instant entrance to “paradise” and their 72 virgins. It’s going to be a sad shock for them on their Day of Judgment standing before a holy and perfect God.
The people of that region of the world have a fleeting opportunity to change the culture of death that Sharia Law and hardcore muslim clerics impose on their people. They need to see that no matter how many troops we send, we can only kill so many of the violent extremists who would love to come back and rule over them with an iron thumb. They must stand up and take liberty and peace back for themselves or forever lose it to these thugs again once we do finally leave.

alaskangrizzly #51, just out of curiosity where did you get the number 200 million? Never mind I think I know. If I heard correctly, China now has an army of about that same number. Gosh it is getting exciting isn’t it? It is sad how Gayle Williams got where she is now but I envy where she is. We don’t know how much longer God is going to put up with what man has done with the beautiful world He has created but the way it looks His return is getting closer everyday. Don’t get me wrong because I’m not trying to sound like a hellfire and brimstone preacher. I do however believe it is getting closer to the day right here in America some of us will have the opportunity to die for what we believe. I pray for Gayle’s family and loved ones she left behind.
That’s funny that you mention that. I was just discussing with a friend of mine who is 93 and a WWII Navy vet about how different it was back in WWII when with the draft you had roughly 10% of the entire population of the US on active duty. And with a population of only 130 million or so back then that is a lot of troops we had sent overseas. Even if we had as high a number today with a draft we are looking at what 30 million possible troops? And with the libtard ideologies taking over this country, the amount of draft dodgers would be enormous so I doubt we could even get 10% with a draft today (which is kinda ironic, since the ideologies of Marx and Nietzsche that prompt much of liberal thinking here in the US when used in countries where it is carried out to fruition like communist Cuba/former USSR/China they have huge standing armies because of nationalism [not the same as patriotism] and of course good old fashioned brute force of “you will do this or we kill you”).

I am going to have to partiallydefend lgm on this one. Example: Saddam basically left alone a large christian adventist church in downtown Bagdad for many years and they thrived. Since his downfall, that church has been bombed many times and the members have been run out of town. However, it does not prove the point that Christians were better off – just persecuted less.
As long as Islam does not condem the murder and persecution of Christians like Ms. Williams, they are complicit.
Walter I must tell you that the Christian woman who was slain was doing the LOrd’s work and following His commandments. Right before Jesus ascended to heaven He told us to go out to the world and proclaim the good news. He said a true Christian would always face persecution and it sure looks like we maybe facing direct persecution very soon here in the USA. Walter,, She was just obeying her Saviour and she died a death serving her Lord. She will be vastly rewarded in Heaven which lasts for eternity.
I have to respond to LGM who never answes usually. Of course there is little tolerance for Christianity in Iraq or anywhere else in the Muslim world, you trying to tell us something new? Saddam must be one of your heros along with Stalin. If you know anything about Saddam he was a great admirer of Stalin. Plus LGM if you knew anything about the New Testament Christ has told us we will always face persecution because Christians do not follow the world’s system.

The US needs to have these statements by the Taliban murderers confessing the killing Christians and when Muslims here or anywhere claim discrimination or criticize us for any reason, play the tape and add, “be happy you are alive – after all, we Christians don’t murder people for being religious like many Muslims do.” When they get outraged at this response, display a list of the names of the murdered, their photos, and ask the Muslim whiner if they would like a copy and would care to write to the families.
Muslims can say what they want about the murders, but the fact remains that no other religion commits the such an ongoing massive slaughter of religious people. Their religion has been tainted with the blood of the innocent and no amount of whining by Muslims will cleanse this mark of Cain staining them all. Only public demonstrations against the murderers and renunciation of their goals along with a fatwa announcing a death sentence on the members of these terrorist groups as apostates, renouncing “honor killings,” and stopping all violence against non-Muslims will pass the sniff test. Until them, every Muslim gives the appearance, at a minimum, of passive approval and therefore is a danger to our lives.
