They have a history of some of the most visceral hatred for this country and those who are sworn to protect it.

Dick Durbin stood on the floor of the Senate and called us “Nazis”. John Murtha calls us “murderers”. Harry Reid declared that we “lost the war” in Iraq. Patty Murray claimed “bin Laden builds day-care facilities…we haven’t done that”. Bubba Clinton loathed us except when he wagged-the-dog in the Balkans. John (Winter Soldier) Kerry accused us of “going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children”, and letting us know that: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Obama’s input: The troops in Afghanistan “are just air raiding villages and killing civilians”

Since Vietnam, we’ve been subjected to pejorative scrutiny, epithets, and at best, viewed as a ‘necessary evil’.

Note to Democrats: The feeling is mutual.

I and mine are doing all we can (even with the major breadwinner out of work at the moment – he jokes that the timing is fortuitous; more time to make calls, write e-mails, etc. ) to give our troops (which include my nephew) a Commander in Chief they can trust and respect.

Keep the bumper numbers off of this photo – you never know what an Obama administration might do to these guys…

First thing I thought was that Piper was carrying her mom’s purse…

I’ve a couple of observations relative to the photo of Piper: first, this could be, just as 31Bravo said, nothing more than a little girl carrying her mom’s handbag. I can’t tell you how often I’ve seen similar scenes at church and in the supermarket.

Secondly, do we know for a fact (not hearsay) that it is a genuine Louis Vuitton? Knock-offs – very convincing look-alikes – are all too common. In fact, the bag Piper is carrying looks very much like a good number of the bags I’ve seen carried by women in the supermarket. That photo isn’t definitive proof that the bag is the genuine article.

And if it was, so what? Go find something really important to get worked up about. Not what someone else spent on clothes.

It’s not like it was taxpayers’ money.

But Michelle, Navy is correct, you do have a positive impact on current affairs. His words reminded me of your old banner quote from Longfellow, “the pen became a clarion”. I thought that line fit you like a glove. Thanks for all you do.
