It might have been Reagan who sent the Marines in, as part of a peace deal to save Beirut from destruction by the Israelis because the PLO cowards were hiding among civilians, but it is Jimmy Carter who allowed an American hating regime in Iran, that sponsored Hezb'Allah as their version of the French Foreign Legion, who bears responsibility.

Thanks Michelle for remembering these fine brave Marines, Sailors and Soldiers.
Please never let their sacrifice be forgotten. I was three weeks out from going to boot camp when this happen and readied my soul and family if this were to happen to me.

Not 241.

299.

58 French paratroopers were also killed in this cowardly attack.

Since their people seem to have forgotten them, and the lessons that should have been learned, let's not.

Unfortunately, the American populace is fast becoming unable to remember..... the culture of cowardice is slowly;y coming back. We who served, fought and are still breathing must take up the banner and knock some sense into heads. It's a shame we have to fight again... but if we must.... we will.

In 1968 and 1969, I was a 13-14 year old Catholic altar boy here in a Bay Area parish. We lost 238 boys in Nam in those 2 years. I later met a vet from New Jersey where they lost over 400 in those two years.

I served at nearly all of those funerals in my parish. Sometimes there were as many as 5 caskets for one service. They were 18 and 19 year old Marines.

Not only did they serve and make the ultimate sacrifice- their families served and gave the ultimate sacrifice: their first born.

Just this last week, at a tribal ceremony in Central California, the leadership held a closing ceremony for the American Indian vets who have gone on and who were with us there to end our year together.

My nephew was at Fallujah. He served for 18 months in Iraq. He is stronger for it. But he will never forget what he had to do to defeat the enemy.
May we never forget that we have enemies for whom death in Jihad is their only preferred alternative to life.

We do not forget our warriors. Ever. Let us not forget our warriors who protect us by doing what many in this country BELIEVE is irrelevant if we would just "talk" to them. It's insulting.
