BUSTED: She made it all up
Can I say I told you so?
I’ve covered hate crimes hoaxes long enough to know one when I smell one.
Those of you who trashed me in comments might want to think twice before doubting my instincts next time.
And those of you on the left who are now so interested in debunking despicable hate crimes might show a little more skepticism yourselves next time when similar narratives hit the news pages involving politically correct hoaxers who share your politics.
Police say a campaign volunteer confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter B in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker; now she’s facing charges.
At a news conference this afternoon, officials said they believe that Ashley Todd’s injuries were self-inflicted.
Todd, 20, of Texas, is now facing charges for filing a false report to police.
Todd initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect began beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.
Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.
Investigators asked Todd to return to the police station today for more questioning and to help them release a composite sketch of the suspect.
When she did, police say she admitted that she made the whole thing up and that it snowballed out of control.
Todd told investigators today that she “just wanted to tell the truth” – adding that she was neither robbed, nor attacked.
She said he believed she may have scratched the backward “B” on her own face because she was the only one in the car at the time. Todd told police that when saw was the “B” in her rearview mirror, she thought of Barack Obama.
Final lesson: Trust your instincts. Use your brains. Stop jumping every time Drudge hypes something in Armageddon-sized font.

I never access Drudge’s web site. A co-worker told me to check it out on Thursday re: the “developing story”. “WOMAN MUTILATED” it said. I cried after reading the headline. I couldn’t believe this is what we have become as a country. Then we find it was a surface scratch. Mutilation is a far cry from a surface scratch.

Has anyone thought that this attention starved girl was planted by the obama team? She would be easy to manipulate. Do you think she did this to purposly get caught lying to show the world how low the McCain/Palin team will stoop? We aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover but this young lady don’t look like the typical McCain supporter. From the begining I agreed with Michelle that something just wasn’t right and the more I think of it I believe she may have very well been planted by the others to again, make McCain look low and decietful. I have yet to read any post from you that has anything even related to substace. You sound like a 13 year old girl talking about her favorite singer or actor. I would not put it past you to be in e-mail contact daily with the likes of lgm and nyk. The tone and lack of substance of all of your posts lends itself to visions of the three of you e-mailing back and forth about your perceived “victories’ from such cunning and witty postings at a site that allows you to post whereas the sites you usually hang out at never allow a Conservative post or poster to last.
Now, seeing as how you actually got to post about Capt. Big Ears, it would probably do you some good to go clean up. We know how excited you get.

And again, let’s talk about the McCain Campaign local manager’s house that was shot up, the countless vehicles that have been vandalized for having a McCain sticker, the houses vandalized for daring to support McCain, the McCain/Palin billboard in Sacramento that had been torched by arson and nearly caught an apartment complex on fire, the threats, obscenities, etc. towardfs any and all McCain supporters by the Obama supporters anywhere and time any McCain supporter DARES to express their view or support…
There are far more things to be talking about in this catagory than this mental deficient and her attempt to garner fame and attention.
What’s that? you say that you are hard pressed to find anythinglike that concerning an Obama supporter or someone with an Obama sign or sticker? Hmmm…but how can that be with a country filled to overflowing with countless RAAAAACISTS….

I hope this incident enlightens this young woman to the fact that she needs some help. Faking a crime to get attention and to falsely harm someone else is crazy.
Why fake anything to try and tarnish Obama’s campaign when the TRUTH doesn’t even do the job?
Since I can pretty much travel to wherever I like at any time, I asked my teenager to pick any city in North America – any city – for us to visit.
