Will the privacy champions come to Joe the Plumber’s defense?
There is something in the water in Ohio.
They’ve got a fraud-friendly Secretary of State, infestations of out-of-state students and Obama workers sabotaging electoral integrity, and now…government employees or accomplices thereof rifling through the records of Joe the Plumber immediately after the last presidential debate.
You’ll remember that a national media uproar ensued after it was discovered that State Department contractors had snooped through Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain’s passports. (Later, it turned out that the CEO of a company whose employee was involved in Passport-gate was a consultant to the Barack Obama campaign.)
Will the privacy champs come to Joe the Plumber’s defense?
The Columbus Dispatch reports:
Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher’s driver’s license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate.
Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.
It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver’s license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.
The paper characterizes a McCain spokesman as “attemping to portray” the breach as “politically motivated.”
Geez Louise. Is there any other reason such a breach would take place immediately after Wurzelbacher was mentioned in a national presidential debate?
Of course it’s politically motivated. The question is not whether. The question is who.
The attorney general’s office is investigating if the access of Wuzelbacher’s BMV information through the office’s Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway computer system was unauthorized, said spokeswoman Jennifer Brindisi.
“We’re trying to pinpoint where it came from,” she said. The investigation could become “criminal in nature,” she said. Brindisi would not identify the account that pulled the information on Oct. 16.
Records show it was a “test account” assigned to the information technology section of the attorney general’s office, said Department of Public Safety spokesman Thomas Hunter.
Brindisi later said investigators have confirmed that Wurzelbacher’s information was not accessed within the attorney general’s office. She declined to provide details. The office’s test accounts are shared with and used by other law enforcement-related agencies, she said.
On Oct. 17, BMV information on Wurzelbacher was obtained through an account used by the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Cleveland, records show.
Mary Denihan, spokeswoman for the county agency, said the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services contacted the agency today and requested an investigation of the access to Wurzelbacher’s information. Cuyahoga County court records do not show any child-support cases involving Wurzelbacher.
The State Highway Patrol, which administers the Law Enforcement Automated Data System in Ohio, asked Toledo police to explain why it pulled BMV information on Wurzelbacher within 48 hours of the debate, Hunter said.
After the State Department passport fiasco, heads rolled. Obama spokesman Bill Burton raged: “Our government’s duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes.”

Just to remind you JHSII, it started back with my comment #34, and then you ‘responded’ on comment #37 with an unprovoked attack that said, and I quote,
“the problem is you and people like you. I guess intimidation to anyone who dares to speak out or question the left is ok with you.”
Of course I defended myself, contrary to your claim that, and I quote,
“I feel sorry for you, I really do. When you finally decide to speak out for yourself..”
And then again another attack on #45 where you claimed, and I quote,
“How dare anyone stand up to liberal intimidation when someone like you is there to provide cover for them”
Yes, apparently my effort to take a less rabid view of the situation equated to providing cover for liberal intimidation. Are you even slightly surprised that I’m royally pi$$ed by such Obama-like tactics?
And then in comment #58 you claims, and I quote,
“You were the one who said that an invasion of privacy that is deliberately meant to intimidate doesn’t mean anything”,
and reiterated that in comment #125 by saying, and I quote,

Seems my plans have changed about going out, but the short break gave me a moment to reflect on the actions of myself, JHSII and others like him.
It seems the type of arrogant closed mindset of Obama-cultist liberals that was until recently held in great disdain on this site is now becoming more and more acceptable when displayed by supposed Republicans, as we get closer and closer to The Day.
I believe this thread is an example of the huge assumptions based on speculation with little or no solid fact behind it that is so much a hallmark of liberal thinking, and attempted to point this out on comment #34, lest we start looking like the liberals we so disdain.
Unfortunately I was repeatedly attacked for daring to have a mind of my own, and had no support from anyone here, despite clearly pointing out the outrageous lies from JHSII and challenging him to prove them, which eventually resulted in me saying some stupid things. I let the arrogance of JHSII get the better of me, that was my mistake.
I don’t like the way this made me feel or act, lowering myself to the same lack of standards or respect as JSHII.
I had what a believe is a valid opinion, and gave reasons for them. I was attacked for speaking my mind and voicing my questions, much like Joe the Plumber is being attacked. How ironic. I was attacked by a person who repeatedly lied about what I said and failed to give any reasoning for their attacks or to refute any points I made, in perhaps some pathetic attempt at brown-nosing Michelle. I think Michelle can stick up for herself JHSII, and you certainly were not doing her or anyone else any favors by your actions.
On that note, I am leaving this site, I really don’t like the ugly tone it has taken of late, and I have little respect for the hypocrisy of being attacked for speaking my mind in comment #34 when my reasons for doing so were laid out clearly and logically for anyone to refute rather than make ad hominem attacks.
I can’t explicitly delete my account, but I can change the password to something random and delete the gmail address that I created solely for this account.
Keep up the good fight, and I hope at least some of us survive the dark times ahead should Obama win the day.
