Obama’s “higher purpose” = code for wealth redistribution

For months, the Obamedia has detected racist “code” in every utterance, gesture, and wardrobe choice of conservatives and Republicans who have dared to oppose The One. Community organizer = racist. Wearing white = racist. Criticizing ACORN = racist. “That one” = racist. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
It’s time to flip the script and use a decoder ring on Obama’s words. Today in Ohio, the Spreader of Wealth will deliver his “closing argument.” His vow: To “restore” a “higher purpose.”
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is returning to his promise of “a new politics” as he delivers what his campaign calls his “Closing Argument Speech On The Change We Need” in Canton, Ohio, a lunchtime on Monday.
“In one week, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope,” he says.
With a comfortable lead in state and national polls, Obama is kicking off the final full week of his grueling two-year campaign by shelving the slam and poke of the daily grind for a reminder of the reasons he initially captured the imagination of national Democrats as a promising young unknown.
“In one week, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need,” he says in prepared remarks. “[A]s I’ve said from the day we began this journey all those months ago, the change we need isn’t just about new programs and policies. It’s about a new politics – a politics that calls on our better angels instead of encouraging our worst instincts; one that reminds us of the obligations we have to ourselves and one another.”
“Change We Need” = Less change in your pocket.
“New politics” = old, failed redistributionist politics.
“Obligations…to…one another” = From each according to his ability…
“What has also been lost is the idea that in this American story, each of us has a role to play. Each of us has a responsibility to work hard and look after ourselves and our families, and each of us has a responsibility to our fellow citizens. That’s what’s been lost these last eight years – our sense of common purpose; of higher purpose. And that’s what we need to restore right now.”
“A role to play” = You pay.
“Higher purpose” = “Reparative economic work” and “redistributive change.”

But the amendment does not call one way or the other for a graduated income tax. Unfortunately, the graduated aspect has been a part of the system for far too long.
PKAmmoTroop (#87) is right when he says “The US is a LEGAL and MORAL egalitarian country, not an economic one, nor was it ever intended to be one.”

I suppose you could, possibly, look at it in that way ILMC. But, on the other hand, taxes used to fund our military to provide for our defense aren’t the same as government entitlement programs where people are given an incentive not to work/contribute to society.

Our taxes pay to operate the gov’t. Those taxes are not there to supplement the income of those who happen to make less money.
Where you distort this graduated tax scale concept is a fundamental problem with Liberals.
It is NOT the right of lower income people to have a piece of the higher earners’ money, simply because they make less money. For those in dire need to survive, the gov’t has a role in assistance when these people can not help themselves.
Liberals translate this aid into an entitlement for not only people who are unable to provide for themselves, but also for ANYONE who happens to -not- be as successful as others… and therefore, these less successful people are entitled to a piece of that big pie.
This is NOT American. It IS Obama’s vision however.

No one, absolutely no one has a moral or empirical right to tell me how to spend my money, period. It will be my decision to assist a homeless person, or donate to a relief cause. It will not be the government telling me what to do. The Feds are to provide for the defense of this country and maintain the infrastructure, that’s it. You who support Obama will NOT tell me how to spend my money or do anything to infringe in the inherent rights of my being an American. I ask nothing of you, you will not take anything from me without my permission. That, my friends, is the argument in a nut shell.

He’s never advocated bi-partisanship so he obviously cant be talking about working together. Change cant take place in a two party system without everyone on board.

There is NOTHING new about Socialism. There is NOTHING new about the damage it does to a country, it’s economy or it’s people. There is NOTHING new about an Obama Presidency that we have not already seen under Stalin, Kruschev, Castro, Jong Il, or any number of other Socialist dictators and their countries.
When I lived in Germany for a while I had chances to talk to my landlady about Hitler and WWII. She couldn’t believe how stupid she was to listen to him and be swayed by him, but she said he said all the right things to the populace. He talked of bringing all Germans wonderful things, and how they would prosper. She cried a few times when we talked, because she was so sorry that all the people had listened, and how Hitler ruined Germany.

If I pay federal taxes and those funds go to corn subsidies in another state is that a redistribution of wealth?
How about when government uses your tax dollars for ‘ear marks” for a state like Alaska - is that redistributing wealth?
Looks like you people don’t have any problem giving your wealth to Iraq – they have a surplus while we spend 10 billion per week operating in their country.
I agree with some if this, and if you put a REAL conservative in charge, maybe some of that crap can end too.

I’ve always loved the names Wm. and Mary Brewster gave their children: Jonathan, Patience, Fear, Love, and Wrestling. I guess the flower children of the sixties weren’t the only ones to christen their offspring with unusual names (like Moon Unit Zappa).
As for the inspiration for these digressions, Obama’s stated disapproval of the Constitution, especially as he is seeking the office that is supposed to uphold and defend that Constitution, is like someone seeking to be the minister of a Christian church while stating that he/she doesn’t believe in the Bible.

What the problem with “Redistribution of Wealth” is that YOU people are using it to punbish people…to penalize their success. You are using it to reward the lazy and the greedy. You are using it to “Make things equal”, to gin up those that don’t have as much as others.
What YOU PEOPLE (raaaaacist) are talking about has NOTHING to do with the examples you gave.

Hey cousin! I think I may be descended from others, but just haven’t delved into it yet. I have always been happy to be descended from Wm. Brewster because he was one of the better known pilgrims and there is a lot of information about him. Which child of his are you descended from? I come from his daughter, Patience. One of the traits I do not possess!!

Our economy is in the toilet. To lift the economy, you provide incentives to small businesses which creates the bulk of jobs.
Most small business owners take big capital risks and work ungodly hours to realize their dream.
I guess the threat of more taxation and more regulations will be a great booster for them to work even haeder!
If someone is already making 200k+, why would that person commit financial suicide by crossing that magical 250K marker!
Also, the so-called rich people always hire good accountants. Accountants will find ways to protect their wealth from the Government’s reach or the rich may relocate to safe heavens and avoid any taxes altogether.
You can not lift the economy from the dumps by building roads and bridges and paying for them by printing money. Ask Zimbabway.
The bottomline: Hussain is fooling the working class and the poor with his word wizardry.
Media is complicit in his game.
Once elected, he will find excuses why he can not fulfil his promises.
Once again, media will happily oblige, unless off course, the ecomony tanks further, in which case the media will blame Washington (not just Hussain and Democrates) to cover their butts.
If people think Hussain will not change his position, think about this: He promised to abide by the campaign finance guidelines. He broke it in this election cycle. And the media is OK with it.
In a democracy, “the politics of unity” and avoiding division is overrated. Democracy is about dissent and DISUNITY when it comes to political issues.
The only places where you have 100% election returns are dictatorships. It is no accident that North Korea usually reports 100% for the Communist Party with 100% turnout.
