The L.A. Times gives readers the finger
Check it out: Obama/Khalidi tape? What Obama/Khalidi tape?
Check it out: The Tribune Co.’s stock chart over the last eight years…

Bleeding newspapers really shouldn’t be pissing off readers.
Perhaps if they reported the news instead of suppressing it…

Obamunists.
I am sure they are just working the story so that they uncover all the juicy details. It will all come out in due course. (Read: Nov 5th).
When the NYTimes releases illegally obtained details of military plans or the means of monitoring terrorists and their accomplices in this country, it is done so under the aegis of “the public’s right to know.”
Since when is there a media determined “right for the media to keep information from the public” as the LATimes is trying to pull with this coverup?
Amazingly, no matter how much readership they’re losing, they’re still not getting it.
Either they’re being willfully stupid about this, or they’re more intent on getting their messages/non-messages out.
Good riddance. There’s much better media available anyway.
So if newspaper readership is falling, then that means less trees are being cut down. Which means there more tress available to soak up the carbon in the atmosphere and less carbon is being emmitted
We now have a market based solution to supposed Global Warming without the need for a government mandate.
Capitalism trumps all once again!
They are all in, and hoping the last card ain’t a Queen… betting your soul is not a smart thing to do.
Well, that’s okay. According to their circulation figures and recent layoff announcement, seems their readers are giving them the finger, too…..
Read all the links you provided Michelle. Well, I think we can take comfort in the “law of natural consequences” here. They are bleeding now, with their incompetence and arrogance, sooner or later the blood (or cash flow) runs out and they melt into the storm drain. Problem solved.
God is merciful. They (and all) will reap what they’ve sown. What goes around, comes around. And bites them in the…a$$. Like a vengeful boomerang.
Kinda looks like that other bird cage liner, The NYT. I guess it’s time to up the bonus’ before it all goes bust. Steal the staplers and white out!
Paging Rupert Murdoch, Mr. Murdoch your newspapers have arrived at rock bottom prices.
Problem is…if this is a tape that would get some wishy-washy voter to wake up, then the LA Times refusing to honor the public’s right to know will mean we all get hit with that boomerang Nov 5th…and the 6th, 7th and so on.
As per usual.
You really suck at your job if you’re a liberal rag in the liberal Mecca that is Los Angeles, and you still can’t sell papers.
Apparently even birdcages need a higher class of liner.
I just realized, the language of L.A. is Spanish and Ebonics, not English.
They are publishing to the wrong market.
Even O’Reilly called ‘em out on this ‘hiding of the tape’ B.S.
Here in the People’s Republic of Hawaii, we have two daily newspapers with two totally different editorial slants….
Left and Far-Left
Armenian, too… Don’t forget Armenian.
Los Angeles is the LOTE capitol of the nation. If it wasn’t for the coast, there wouldn’t be a single thing worth keeping.
Trust me. They’ll never get it. They really believe they’re doing the best job possible and anyone who thinks otherwise is just a partisan (Republican) idiot anyway.
I used to work for a newspaper. They are proud of their work. They think subscriptions are slipping because people would rather be pandered to than hear the truth.
if I had a subscription, I’d cancel it…I canceled my local rag because they are pro-illegal alien and that’s in a state with one of the most anti-illegal laws in the country….
The LA Times: Just suppressing the information honest journalists wouldn’t
I’m hoping this election is a nail biter. If McCain comes with-in even 5% the world will realise what pathetic pieces of trash the print media has been in this election. Not to mention the TV networks. Millions upon millions of us will never buy another paper nor watch another program. And one & one the stories about Barack & co. will come out after the election. The American people are their lawful prey.
I half expect that if obummer wins the election, for reid/pelosi/obummer to pass some sort of bailout legislation for newspapers. Either they’ll pass that internet tax they’ve been talking about, or make it mandatory that schools provide newspapers for every kid, but rest assured they won’t let their political mouthpieces to go without. If obummer isn’t willing to let capitalism work in general, surely he won’t let it work in msm either. I have no doubt it’s been an unspoken quid pro quo…they help him get elected, and they get something in return other than the satisfaction of having engineered the socialist/elitist takeover of America. Or maybe newspapers are counting on a version of the fairness doctrine in order to wipe out what little competition there is in print. We all know by now that the fairness doctrine will only apply to whatever liberals don’t like, so WSJ’s numbers will decline after this election as well. The next election cycle should be very interesting as it appears more people are waking up and shaking off the liberal mantra/democrap talking points; no one likes a force fed diet of lies and propaganda, nor do most appreciate a condescending and holier-than-thou know it all press that doesn’t even have the good grace to pretend to have a lack of bias. Like everyone else, I have no sympathy for the leftist rags in question since they’ve done it to themselves. I get 98 percent of my news from MM, Rush, Hannity, LGF and a few other websites; it costs me nothing, I get the straight news with common sense commentary on the side, and at the end of the day I sleep better knowing I haven’t paid one thin dime to any liberal newspaper!
As a subscriber to the LA Times for over thirty years, I have requested that the videotape be released immediately.
If not; I have asked the LA Times to cancel my subscription and provide a full refund.
They seem to be trying to run the company into the ground. Oh well. The will not be missed.
Under the ‘O’ they expect a big come-back or else!
Obey!
Interesting. Maybe when the L.A. Times “taped the event,” they had more than a static camera on the dias. Could they have on tape footage of say Barack Obama shaking hands with a couple whose terrorist cell murdered two American police officers? No matter. We all know those pigs were oppressing said terrorist group when it had a righteous wind at its back.
In homage (and in hope Joe Biden doesn’t ban or regulate my web site), I guess I’ll stop my bitching about a family member and the rest of the first responders collaterally damage by jihadi justice on 9/11. On September 18, 2001, Obama explained the root causes in the Hyde Park Herald:
I received further edificatopn from page 2 of Dreams of My Father:
Oh thank you The One for explaining that all to me. I can hardly wait to vote for McCain / Pailin on November 4.
H/t: Steve G. at Sweetness & Light.
Rut-roh. I triggered the comment alarm here, again.
Do you think it might be time for a conservative consortium formed for the task to buy a major newspaper? Given both the state of their stock and the state of Wall Street, there are probably some real bargains to be had.
A POS that’s been marked down 75% is still a POS. If you want solid reporting, Investor’s Business Daily, the Washington Times and the New York Post are still the best.
Why do these people keep losing money and readership and not make major changes in there formate? They have the appearance of a newspaper but are lacking true journalistic standards.
I remember the old “Berkeley Barb” underground newspaper of the sixties and other such radical left news-rags of that time. They lost circulation for the same reason the the L.A. times is. PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF HEARING HOW BAD THIS COUNTY IS.
To the LA TIMES: How does it feel to be clinging on to the back of that sinking ship?
The ship hit the iceberg, is going under and the LAT is crowing “I’m the king of the world!”
After telling us that The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times they have the audacity to head up a section of the story with this:
Looking for clues
Followed by this sentence:
But because Obama is relatively new on the national political scene, and new to foreign policy questions such as the long-simmering Israeli-Palestinian conflict, both sides have been looking closely for clues to what role he would play in that dispute.
No, one side is not looking for clues, they are concealing them. It doesn’t take Miss Marple to figure this out.
The boundaries between journalism and opinion columns have been breached years ago. No longer can we passively read or listen to any source of world events without a critical eye. This awareness must apply to newspapers as well as our Michelles blog.
Most of my news now comes from the internet and sites such as this one. I receive my small town newspaper only for local events and some political meanderings.
I have chosen this blog, even though I know it’s biased toward my political views, because I’ve noticed Michelle’s willingness to be critical of the conservatives when TRUTH is violated.
Good imagery St. Louis Blue.
True. Lies by omission.
Nobody should be surprised by the LA Times covering this up. It was only a few months ago when the LA Times ran an editorial cartoon showing the Jewish star strangling the Palestinians and the “peace process”. For all practical purposes, the LA Times cartoon was likening Israel to Nazi Germany. That cartoon was followed by a Walt-Merhseimer oped in which the two haters of Israel were allowed to fulminate about alleged “Zionist influence” and were allowed to claim that the “Zionists” were not loyal Americans. This is what passes for fairness in the LA Times. It should be no surprise that the LA Times would spike the Obama-Khalidi tape.
I take no comfort in what happens to the Times, I could care less, however I care what happens to the this Country. This is bigger than the fall of the L.A.Times, it is about the right of the people knowing all the facts involved in elections, not just Sarah Palin’s shoes.
The LA Times was already irrelevent and by HIDING news they will become gone!
They have to layoff 75 more people….tick tock…..it’s only a matter of time before they are HISTORY!!!
They can join the NY Times in the junkbond status. JUNK IN JUNK OUT.
Repeat of 1930’s Germany
The L.A. Times is deep in the heart of Mexico. Good luck getting them to cooperate with American requests.
The godless have no moral compass…
…don’t bother looking for one.
Jangar, they have a god. Their god is socialism, and its messiah is B.H.O.
I can read the Tea Leaves… Right after the election, the LAT is going to change its name to The Fannie Mae Times… Get that Bailout money no matter who gets elected lol :).
Obamunists… I like that Red Pill.
We’ll see more of this stone-walling in the future. Especially of Obama wins.
We need someone who works at the LA Times and who has a conscience, to release that tape anonymously on YouTube.
I could care less if that sort of release is considered illegal. I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Be careful what you wish for. Newspapers are in trouble all over the country. They all could go to the government with hat-in-hand looking for a bailout too. Then we could own part of the rags that are feeding us the propagada. How much you wannna bet?
Alas, there is truth here. The treatment of Palestinians often borders on terrorism. It is hard to imagine the Palestinian people suddenly cooperating with Israel as long as this, and the continual taking of Palestinian land, continues. While the Palestinians are not blameless, they are nearly powerless to change their situation.
Israel should drop a nuke or two now, put McAmnesty in the driver’s seat, and stop a muslim from becoming president of the USA.
Gooooo Palin!
Not exactly a shocker - when Timothy
Rotten’sRutten’s multiple lies about the soldier’s Iraq fantasies were exposed, there was no retraction or apology. There…that’s better.
Further evidence of where Israel would stand in the eyes of an Obama administration; thankfully, B Hussein Obama will not win.
Use your brain, vote President McCain!
Bradley Effect, Bradley Effect, Bradley Effect…..
There was a silly post a few spots above here where a guy defended Khalidi’s rationalization of suicide bombings and said that the “Palestinians are helpless to change the situation”. That is sheer nonsense. Back in 1993, Israel’s Labor government allowed Yasser Arafat and his armed gunmen to take over the West Bank and Gaza. Arafat, larded with billions in foreign assistance, could have made the West Bank and Gaza a prosperous peaceful place. Instead, Arafat opted to turn both places into a kingdom of terrorism and corruption, and gave his own family and cronies a monopoly and stranglehold over the local economy. Arafat looted foreign aid and actively supported terrorism, usually directing it. When Barak and Clinton tried giving Arafat all of Gaza and all of the West Bank again in 2000, Arafat rejected the deal because it would mean formal recognition of Israel and an end to the state of war. Barak’s big mistake was thinking that Arafat preferred life over death. Clinton made the same wrong assumption. BTW, the LA Times routinely lionized Arafat.
move along, people. nothing to see here.
How dare anyone question the integrity of this newspaper. They let you klnow that it existed, and you should be thankful for that alone. What is actually said on this tape is of no consequence, as it pertains to nothing of imprtance to anyone other than the Jews…and you know damn well that the Liberals back Israel 100%.
(Ewww…I feel so dirty now.)
Their arrogance is staggering! They deserve to go bankrupt. I do think that there may be another copy of that tape somewhere…hopefully that is being investigated by FOX or someone who actually wants to report the truth.
This election has been decided for you.
Get used to having major decisions made for you.
So shut up and get to work paying for it.
I wish a real journalist could investigate this. Supposedly the video was obtained by the LA Crimes reporter. Who ever gives up a tape without copying it? Did the person who gave up the tape want the word to get out about this group of anti-semites? Can that person be found and encouraged to give up his/her copy of the tape?
I don’t know if anyone has already put this up but I thought it was important–I just don’t have time right now to read the comments.
But I think we should spread the word to contact the LA Times and tell them what you think! I got this info from FoxNews.
“Tell the LA Times What You Think by e-mailing the paper’s “readers’ representative,” Jamie Gold, at readers.rep@latimes.com or click here to fill out a feedback form. Or call to leave a message with Gold at (877) 554-4000.”
