Sarah Palin in jeans, rocking out to “Redneck Woman”

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 28, 2008 01:01 PM

I’ll take Sarah over the Arugula Snob and Smirky any day:

Redneck Woman
by Gretchen Wilson

Well I ain’t never
Been the barbie doll type
No I can’t swig that sweet champagne
I’d rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk
Or on a 4 wheel drive tailgate
I’ve got posters on my wall of Skynard, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me
But I don’t give a rip
I’ll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip

Cause I’m a redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keepin’ it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Victoria’s Secret
Well their stuff’s real nice
Oh but I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal*Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy
Just as sexy
As those models on TV
No I don’t need no designer tag to make my man want me
You might think I’m trashy
A little too hard core
But get in my neck of the woods
I’m just the girl next door

Hey I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Ol’ Bocephus song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I Said Hell Yeah

***

What I’d love to see: Palin and Wilson in John Murtha’s district in Pennsylvania for a rally with Bill Russell.

***
Hell Yeah: Pam Meister takes on the Beltway Palin-bashers.

When McCain gets his ass handed to him in this election, the Republican party is going to go to war within. Sarah Palin will have a large, and very vocal side in that war, and could possibly come out the victor. I think if that happens, Republicanism will be in exile for a generation, and Conservatism many never again have a public voice.

The reason that Sarah Palin can go through life and this political storm and remain unchanged is that she is who she is. She is comfortable in her beliefs and has no fear in expressing them.

Now look at Biden and Obama. Every answer is nuanced; they hide their liberalism as if they are ashamed of it. Old audios and videos come up about Obama’s views and the spin machine kicks into high gear. Why?

If Obama truly believes in what he said in 1995 and 2001 he should have the intellectual courage to stand up and say, yes I believe those things. Instead you get this dog dung answer about “narrowly focused comments.”

Two people like Sarah Palin were Paul Wellstone and Hubert Humphrey. They were liberals that I did not agree with, but they looked you in the eye and said with pride what they believed. Such people have character and my profound respect.

Obama is a decitful man, thoroughly lacking integrity. His intellectual cowardice manifests that.

Haven’t we learned that just because we want to have a beer with someone, doesn’t mean they are qualified to be (Vice) President. Honestly, this actually turns people on to her? “She’s just like me!” Great, just what we need in one of the most powerful offices in the world – someone just like me!

I support her for VP because of her positions on many issues and because of her record as Gov and Mayor.

I like her as a person because of her personality, because of how she has lived her life.

Yes, these things do overlap, but I’m not voting for her because she’d be fun to have a beer with.

And Red State… I didn’t hear her say she was a redneck. It’s a song dude. Relax. But I -would- put money on her being a better shot than many red necks you or I know.

Further, to “how many snobs were raised by single mothers” – I’ll give the Joe Biden response. Is that really a question?
Since your answer is that it in fact is a real question – I’ll give a real answer.
I’d suggest that snobbishness is not a socio-economic factor – it’s an attitudinal disease. My observations indicate that Obama has it terminally.

    Dear Arugula-snorting snobs,
The term “redneck” is actually a badge of honor. Southerners are used to it and it does not bother many of us. The term is used by many who just hear a Southern (now Alaskan) accent. Many of us rednecks have (shock!) college degrees! And we have all our teeth! And we don’t marry our kin!

My family, of Scots-Irish origins, came to this great country in the early 1700’s. I am pretty sure there were a few rednecks amongst them, as we are also from generations of Presbyterians.

Here, my dear snobby elitists, is how the term “redneck” originated during the reformation:

The National Covenant and The Solemn League and Covenant (a.k.a. Covenanters) signed documents stating that Scotland desired a Presbyterian Church government, and rejected the Church of England as their official church (no Anglican congregation was ever accepted as the official church in Scotland). In doing so, the Covenanters rejected episcopacy — rule by bishops — the preferred form of church government in England. Many of the Covenanters signed these documents using their own blood, and many in the movement began wearing red pieces of cloth around their neck to signify their position to the public. They were referred to as rednecks.[1] Large numbers of these Scottish Presbyterians migrated from their lowland Scottish home to Ulster (the northern province of Ireland) and soon settled in considerable numbers in North America throughout the 18th century. Some emigrated directly from Scotland to the American colonies in the late 18th and early 19th-centuries as a result of the Lowland Clearances. This etymological theory holds that since many Scots-Irish Americans and Scottish Americans who settled in Appalachia and the South were Presbyterian, the term was bestowed upon them and their descendants.

It’s not about being a snob – it’s self improvement… bettering yourself, educating yourself, traveling around the world and getting the global view on issues.

That doesn’t mean Obama doesn’t give such people love – and they give him love back!

My parents were poor children of immigrants. My mom did not have a bed until sleep in until she was about 16 (before that, she slept on her parents couch). The first time my father did not share a bed with a brother was when he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. My mom was a high school drop out. Both my parents worked their tails off to get themselves, and more importantly me, a better life.

Yes, I have been to college and have 2 graduate degrees. I eat arugula (though not because I am a yuppie, because I am Italian-American).

But I never forgot where I came from. The best man at my wedding was a groundskeeper at a school. I never was ashamed of my parents’ lack of education (though they were). Rather I was proud of them and what they acheived.

And the women in my family, while not moose hunters, were all strong willed, practically intelligent, independent women.

I’ll take Sarah anyday over Barrack.

Yes, I would MUCH prefer a collectivist marxist who hates capitalism and private property, who frequents with admitted terrorists, etc. He’s not at all like me and I would never have a beer with him. So there you go, I’ll vote for him.

Gee thanks for the advice! You’re right, I’ll throw my hat in with Arlen Specter and Olympia Snow! They’re just what we need! How could I have been so stupid before? Thank you for coming down out of the clouds and giving us your omniscient wisdom!
