Sarah Palin in jeans, rocking out to “Redneck Woman”
I’ll take Sarah over the Arugula Snob and Smirky any day:
Redneck Woman
by Gretchen Wilson
Well I ain’t never
Been the barbie doll type
No I can’t swig that sweet champagne
I’d rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk
Or on a 4 wheel drive tailgate
I’ve got posters on my wall of Skynard, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me
But I don’t give a rip
I’ll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip
Cause I’m a redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keepin’ it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Victoria’s Secret
Well their stuff’s real nice
Oh but I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal*Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy
Just as sexy
As those models on TV
No I don’t need no designer tag to make my man want me
You might think I’m trashy
A little too hard core
But get in my neck of the woods
I’m just the girl next door
Hey I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Ol’ Bocephus song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
I Said Hell Yeah

It’s because of statement like..
“So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
SNOB. Plain and simple.
Damn, this is the kind of person I want to be a leader. You rock, Sarah!
Then, there is Barack Hussein Obama, sitting in a Marxist bookstore in Soho, reading Alan Ginsburg, sipping Arugula-scented cinnamon-twist single-drop latte mocha with a sprinkle of rainforest-safe South American blended Cocoa Mist, his pinky sticking up in the air, dreaming of the downfall of America…
So, the Democrats think the snot-nosed Obama is a typical American more than Governor Palin?
Give me a break. More people are like Palin, even here in the Republik of California than they’ll ever be like Obama. Believe it or not.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, I had the good fortune to have escorted a brand-new Russian emigre to a Walmart here in the United States.
She cried at what her birthplace had cheated her out of: her time, her freedom, a good chunk of her life and the lives of all those had known.
You’re disgusting.

This isn’t based on “liberal” polls, it’s based on every. single. poll. across. the. board. I’ve seen regarding Palin for a couple of months now. I’m not countering your own respect for Gov. Palin, or that of most conservatives on the site, just the notion that most Americans feel the same. They apparently don’t.
Uh…that pipeline doesn’t yet exist anywhere but in blueprints.
Yes. All it indicated to me is that people who think arugula is exotic need to get out more. It isn’t.
I’m not even sure the Dems win the coveted 60 they’re aiming for now, so I certainly cannot predict how 2010 will go. But you may very well be right. Only time will tell.
nyk and Ilovemycountry
When I see both of you on a thread that talks social STYLE and not important policy issues, it just confirms my instinct that your minds are not much different than stir fried chicken manure.
Criticizing Palin does not for one second mean support for Obama. Being that McCain’s first presidential decision was to pick Palin as a running mate, it’s foreseeable that when he loses, the Palin pick will come under intense scrutiny.
There is a reason so many prominent conservatives have spoken unfavorably about the Palin nomination – It’s because she represents a profound disdain of intellectualism. One of the tragedies of modern Republicanism is how it has changed from a party of individual philosophy and ideas to a party of shallow identity politics. The Republican “base” now is conditioned to hate anyone who talks of ideology as an elitist – a smug, ivory tower, effeminate intellectual who knows nothing of your day to day struggle. George Bush was elected this way, by putting his ‘folksy’ small town America charm up as his main selling point. Sure, he threw in some conservative talking points to try and win over people who cared about ideology, but that has all been proven a charade. Sarah Palin was picked to try and energize the Bush base – and she absolutely has, as evidenced by this thread. However, as the old saying goes: ‘Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me’ – as many people have figured out the game that’s being played on them, Palin’s numbers have tanked. Trying to compare, in the minds of voters, a presidential election, to electing a Homecoming King/Queen, is failing with disenfranchised voters who were duped into electing Bush.
This has become a much larger issue than McCain/Palin vs Obama, that argument will be over in a week, this is a question of the future of the Republican party. How long will we be out of power, while the party goes to war within to figure out its identity? When the battle is over and Republicans come up with a coherent platform, will it be the platform of Palin – A shallow ideological base masked with ‘redneck’ pandering and banking on identity politics to attain power? Or will it be a platform put forth by Taft, Goldwater and Reagan – Sure in the universal truth contained in the Constitution, based upon individual liberty, and inspiring in the basic ideals of the founders.
Now I’ll go back under my bridge.
No, actually. They speak for themselves, you see, via these things called “polls” — where they’ve indicated a widespread and fundamental mistrust of her competency. They don’t need me to speak for them.
Obama wasn’t raised by a single mother. He was raised by affluent grandparents after his mother abandoned him to pursue her own interests.
How many people with average grades and talent attend ivy league schools?
How many unknown state senators have their memoirs written by famous terrorists?
How many regular folks can afford a $1.6 million dollar home?
How many people don’t think Michell Obama is all that smart?

Right there with ya, FilmLadd.
See how scared the little leftie is? Hear his trembling whine? Witness his wrinkled chin.
Hold on, he is about to speak….!
Have you looked at the underlying data in these polls? I have.
If you think polling 38% Democrat, 30% Republican and 31% Independents (in one poll from Gallup a couple of weeks ago) is reality, you need to go to school and take a statistics course.
According to the Anchorage newspapers less than two week ago, Palin’s approval rating was 68%.
MORE than Biden, Obama and the rest of congress. Probably still the most popular (approval-rating) governor in the country.
I think the same of you, and assure you the feeling is completely mutual. I find you one of, if not the, weakest posters here (that’s why I normally don’t even bother reading your comments). At least we agree on each other!
Gooooo Palin!
The new anthem if Obama is selected.
Can you send me a link please? I’d be curious to see the (presumably nat’l) poll they conducted to arrive at this result.
Thanks.
GOOD Then get the heck out of here.
Now THERE’S a pantsuit!!!
Hillary, eat your heart out.
Wow – that’s amazing – polls on Palin even before she was the VP nominee. (couple of months) Guess all those Alaskans who give her one of the highest approval ratings of all governors, were secretly also running out to all the other pollsters and telling them another story ahead of time.
Nice try NYK – but facts seem to be getting in the way of your fiction.
Amen!
Palin’s approval ratings:
Link here:
I’d say she’s probably still the most popular governor in the country.
Evidence? Seriously, nyk, do you understand the nature of something that actually is evidence?
An utterance is NOT evidence of anything. Something that is offered as evidence has to be irrefutable, pass close scrutiny, and be impeachable. The sources you cite are not offering opinions on “evidence”, but on “utterance.”
Obama can stop this whole issue about his citizenship simply by providing a truly verifiable and certified original document. He has not, and most likely will not. Why? That is the question.
That is only one reason people are hesitant to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. Other reasons are his refusals to release information about his formative years from Occidental to Columbia, and to answer tough questions about his assiciations. His writing suggest an idealogy much different that what he is now espousing. Why?
We all know the reason…some are not willing to face the truth. People inherently do not like to persceive themselves as being wrong, or of being gullible. In the mad dash to elect “the first black man” to the U.S. presidency in their lifetimes, they are willing to ignore commonsense, and the multitude of “red” flags that have popped up over this man’s campaign. Thankfully, I am not one of them.
And congress’s approval ratings here:
Pretty pathetic.
Ah, the laziness of liberals. Probably the vicious, hate of the MSM cutting Palin down had something to do with the “polls”. These little liberal whores are in the tank for Obama and the public is eating it up. They’re told what to think.

Not that I’ve seen.
Whorebama 08′. Because I deserve it!
I have been looking for individual Senator’s ratings, but haven’t found any that are recent. Most recent one I found was in 2006…before Obama was even in the Senate.
NYK thinks with emotions not with deductive reasoning.
I agree with your comment. You are correct. However, if he were here today, the same “prominent conservatives” would have had the same reaction to Ronald Reagan, who was no intellectual.
Did I prefer George W. Bush? Not at all. He was never a conservative in my view. Why did I vote for him? Two reasons: Al Gore and John Kerry.
I was not voting for President until Obama got the nomination. I could live with Hillary, not Obama. Palin is the only positive thing to coume out of this election cycle, since Jindahl was not on the ticket.
The “prominent conservatives” have many traits, but common sense and values elude them. Their elitism blinds them.
Everyone has their own perferences. Sarah Palin shares my values more than the prominent elites. I have confidence in her judgement.

Still wondering if you or any other collectivist (NYK?) would care to comment on my post #90 or if you concede the point that you are indeed disgusting and do not care about individual freedom.
Lion – I’ll disagree a bit. Palin is not the one with the disdain for intellectualism, or idealism. The top of the ticket is the one with the “hold your finger to the wind” tendency. The top of the ticket panders. The top of the ticket is what real conservatives are holding their noses about.
As far as Palin is concerned, I think most would see her as to the right of McCain and therefore good.
Further, when the people of the press that you mention show disdain for Palin, I somehow find that comforting.
Characterists which matter to me for the POTUS – character, beliefs, application of those beliefs, intellect (as opposed to intellectualism) are all areas which Palin does very well. She is not the Republicans problem.
And I’ll add one more thing.
Since Obama immediately started running for President the minute he got elected to the Senate, I seriously doubt there would be any substance for polling to begin with.
After all, can anyone name one piece of legislation that he has proposed?
Nope. These are all since she became VP. I don’t know what “a couple” means to you but, to most native English speakers, it means “two.”
He has. Did you look at any of the links I posted? From multiple (and not all “liberal”) media sources? Which went to see the document in person? And which describe the birth certificate, with its embossed seal and signature? And the confirmation of authenticity from Hawaii’s Department of Health?
I have a feeling that most people here that are harping on this have seen the multiple reports from various media outlets of having seen O’s birth certificate, and their subsequent reports that it’s real. But it’s not what they want to believe, and so they continue to deny its existence.
The facts are that the liberal trash want to held the the sweet loving arms of that great sow of government.

Um…there is no link here. Although, from the rest of your post I gather that these approval ratings of which you speak are from Alaska. Which is all well and good, but my specific point was that Americans overall — not just Alaskans, mind you, who represent just one state of 50 — DO NOT believe Palin to be competent. If those in her home state do, that’s wonderful. All the better should she have to return there. But that doesn’t counter anything I’ve said about how Americans regard her.
NYK, why don’t you take up the baton from Ahh A Lion and respond to #90?
Any of you will do.
BlameAmericaLast re:“If you think polling 38% Democrat, 30% Republican and 31% Independents (in one poll from Gallup a couple of weeks ago)…”
Yeah, I think that, that and the recent panic in the media is kinda telling us that they know that Omaba won’t win…
I am more worried that now that socialism is seen by many as legitimate & desirable 2012, may be the real push.
You are correct in saying that Obama’s birth certificate is a non-issue. Those who pursue it at this point totally confound me.
The real issues can be found in the 1995 and 2001 audio tapes of Obama. Anyone who can listen to those tapes with comprehension, still deny what Obama is, and vote for him are making decisions totally devoid of an logic.
Anyone who hears those tapes and votes for him embraces socialism and wants the Constitution to be essentially voided.
Sorry, but that’s just not true. We talk of those who believe in socialism, collectivism, or other such ideologies as elitist. In point of fact, elitism itself is an ideology.
The conservative base has no issue per se with the concept of ideology or intellectualism, merely with those ideologies that are elitist in nature.
Unless, of course, you think the conservatives are as portrayed on MSNBC.
Actually, you’re wrong again. That certificate posted on the fight the smears website and on factcheck.org are not the original. They are a copy from the Department of Health.
What people are asking for is the original certificate of live birth (with weight, etc.,) that is originated through the hospital where he was born.
Interestingly enough the governor of Hawaii has sealed his birth records.
Now, if there was nothing to hide, why seal all the records? Why not just come out and give this information to the public and put an end to all the speculation?
What is so embarrassing about releasing an original birth certificate?
Unless, of course, you don’t really have one in the first place.
I am loving the comments referring to Sarah Palin as anti intellectual or a false elitist. She can’t win can she? It doesn’t matter what she does, you aren’t happy. I support her with all my being, because I do see her intellect as superior to the mouthy DC snobs of both parties. Her ability to absorb any and all information and process it into a rational response in an eye blink is a talent few have in DC, the media and blogdom. Oh and I identify with her, even though I’m just a militarist, blue collar, yet well educated white male. Yeah, I used the word” white”… tough.

PRECISELY. They think that if you were born with two X chromosomes, you were also born a leftist. To be anything else is a crime against God and man.
That geek William F. Buckley would get his ass kicked in any small town in America. Only big city liberals think he or they are of any importance. Joe the Plumber doesn’t get paid from anything Buckley said. Nor will he make any money when the socialist is in charge…
Gooooo Palin.
The issue is not why one should not vote for a VP Candidate Sarah Palin. Everyone should be focused on why you would vote for Barrack Obama based on his own words and writing.
Anyone caring to defend the contents of his 1995 and 2001 audio tapes, knock yourself out.
You call yourself intellectual? Lol. I enjoy this.
Keep talking Nyk you remind me of a monkey with cymbals. Hahaha.
Please. I don’t think “liberals” — or the many other people who live outside of Alaska and perceive Sarah Palin as incompetent — are jealous at all. No more than people who aren’t supporting McCain are “jealous” of his career. That’s silly. There are just many people who simply don’t have faith in her based on what they’ve seen. That’s all.
The other day, I went to lunch and had a conversation with friend #1 and friend #2 and we discussed how empty of common sense the democrat party is.
Gee, this is easy!
Seriously, there was a thread on daily kos where they said Palin was racist because she was wearing white.
William Buckley had the same snobbery that Peggy Noonan has…. while both their writings can be noble.. their demeanor and arrogance are and were insufferable. The true conservative base is not impressed with intellectualism as professed by the Saul Alinsky ass kissers of the left. But make no mistake about the intellect of conservatives, you do so at your own peril. We can eat you up and spit you out any day in a cerebral match….. snobs!! And most of us have a very healthy disdain for Wikipedia!…..
What the hell are you talking about? Individualism is absolutely the number one priority when it comes to true conservative thought. Individual freedom is paramount and is under threat from both parties. My position is fighting for a Republican party that repudiates socialism in any of its forms. All of my comments have the exact same theme – that I don’t believe Palin is a path to a Republican party that wins. Why? because she supports the socialist behaviors that are currently destroying this country and masks those beliefs with talking points and identity politics. I mean are you even reading? Or is criticizing Palin from the right some sort of proof in your head that that person is a stealth liberal?
As to your post number #99 – great, I believe this country is the best, and freest as well, and I’m glad your friend got out of Russia. What does that have to do with my post?
The other day, I went to lunch and had a conversation with friend #1 and friend #2 and we discussed how martians are eating Obamas brain and that McCain actualy fathered Obama. Oh and the sky is orange.
The so called liberal intellectuals reside in the halls of the university; shielded from the real world where they’d most likely get their arse kicked on a daily basis by the mean, knuckle-dragging conservatives. Lol.
I’m lovin’ it.
Ye gods, the trolls are getting fat and happy on this thread…
I so enjoy the implication that people who prefer Governor Palin to Senator Obama lack intellect…
I like her. I think Obama is dangerous. I haven’t read a single so-called argument to make me change my mind.
Morons I tell you! Morons! Nykky poo…… Lol.
I want to see Palin debate Obama. Seriously.
As I understand it, the study nyk is writing about says that over 50% of those surveyed thought they did not believe Palin to be qualified to be president, not “not competant.” I could be wrong, I did not see nyk provide a citation or a link to the survey(s) he mentioned. I could be thinking about some other survey or I could have missed it.
Um…No, People Like Us (meaning, the three of us dining together that night) meant Democrats. Hence the irony in us longing for anything relating to Buckley. Way to jump the wrong gun.
Um…none of the above. You’re going further and further out on a limb. Your skills of deduction are abysmal, but your knack for off-the-hinges hyperbole is razor sharp.
Oh. Well. That’s just wonderful.
Nope. In fact, I’ll quote myself:
So you see, we were discussing a Republican party that has become ANTI-intellectual. That manifests itself in certain ways like, for example, people who wanting to beat up William F. Buckley for being a “nerd.”
Lovely.
Palin became governor of Alaska because she lacks intellect. Lol….
Um, no. It’s not silly, considering the superficial and stupid comments hurled at her on a daily basis. If it’s not her clothing, it’s her makeup (HuffPest commented that she had tatoo lip liner, please). If it’s not her out-of-date hairstyle (which, by the way is in the top 4 hairstyles right now), it’s her accent. If it’s not that, it’s her glasses.
Not many people talk about her policies as governor of Alaska. They just gossip like the Hollywood club about her and her family. Remember the unfounded and hurtful rumors about Trig?
Mostly by jealous women. Just look at the commentary not too long ago by that reporter from the CBC. It was outrageous. Oh, and let’s not forget those T-shirts that say Sarah Palin is a – - – t.
Now tell me honestly, has Joe Biden gotten this kind of treatment?
Yeah, didn’t think so.
Please. We all know Canada is not a real foreign country. This more like convincing your slightly dull cousin to touch his lips to a 9 volt battery.
The so-called Republican Anti-intellectualism isn’t a result of not wanting to follow the lemming morons at Harvard over the liberal cliff me thinks.

yeh I have 4 degrees of which two are from top 10 schools. I don’t think my IQ is 155, more like 140. I’m working on Chinese a bit. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to master Chinese. I don’t think like a liberal therefore I’m dumb; I get it. Lol…
I hope so. Time to get the elitiests the hell out of the party. Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber… these are Americans. Kick those wrinkly old ass RINOS out and let some REAL Americans rise to power.
It was set up that farmers, and regular folk would go to Washington and represent for a short time and then return home…. NOW it is a life-long profession of sissified gentry like Lyndsy Ghramnisty, McAmnesty, Liberalman and Dead Kennedy.
Clean house, and give America back to REAL Americans.
Bahhh. Humbug.
nyk, do you have a sense of humor, dude, or android, or whatever you are? Are you one of them-thar folks who storm conservative blogs in the name of The One?
This “redneck” thing is in fun, and to rub the snotty noses in it—it is a joke! It also is to reflect that many of us don’t give a hoot about what you sit around and talk about over your chardonnay.
I like Bill Buckley, and, I can READ as I grad-u-ma-cated with a bachelor’s degree from a very good private college.Yet,drumroll, please… get ready for it:
I am a conservative Republican! And a Christian who (horrors!) prays about our country, this election, and McCain/Palin! I am also a Southern woman (redneck)! It is scary when your preconceived ideas are dashed, isn’t it? But you are probably still in high school worrying about your acne scars, so all is forgiven, bless your pea-pickin’ heart.
I like Buckley and NRO, but I LOVE Palin in a non-lesbian way. I saw her on Sunday in Florida, and she ROCKS the house wherever she goes. Lots and LOTS of “Democrats for McCain” good people were at the rally. Be very afraid, Obama supporters, be afraid. Nobama.
McCain/Palin ‘08!
chap- I rarely agree with you but #178 was very funny. It would be nice if the blog had more humor as witty as that.
Now if only the rest of the first graders will wash their own mouths out with soap.
Buckley was entertaining to listen to, with his weird way of speaking and his attempt to over use multisyllabic words, but I wouldn’t ask him to repair my fence or clean out a drain.
Elitists like Buckley are a dime a dozen and worth about a nickel.
If you want raw intellectualism, you hire them, for that is their profession.
But as for the insane notion that Sarah PPalin is dragging McCain down…I’ve got to laugh…if he goes down its because he didn’t listen to Sarah Palin or commonsense throughout his campaign.
I’m happy that Sarah Palin is in many ways making the McCain campaign move (at all)
I have five college degrees!
I speak ten languages!
I have 234 IQ!
I make more money in one year than the country of Paraguay!
I’ve paid out over $1 billion in taxes!
I’ve beaten up Chuck Norris multiple times!
I’ve grown the economy to well over $3.5 Trillion dollars (with a ‘T’)!
I founded the Red Cross and my name is Bill Gates!
I AM A SCARLETT NECK you jerk.
Oh, wait, we’re not playing the ‘I can top you game’? Shucks.
