Sarah Palin in jeans, rocking out to “Redneck Woman”

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 28, 2008 01:01 PM

I’ll take Sarah over the Arugula Snob and Smirky any day:

Redneck Woman
by Gretchen Wilson

Well I ain’t never
Been the barbie doll type
No I can’t swig that sweet champagne
I’d rather drink beer all night
In a tavern or in a honky tonk
Or on a 4 wheel drive tailgate
I’ve got posters on my wall of Skynard, Kid and Strait
Some people look down on me
But I don’t give a rip
I’ll stand barefooted in my own front yard with a baby on my hip

Cause I’m a redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Charlie Daniels song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keepin’ it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Victoria’s Secret
Well their stuff’s real nice
Oh but I can buy the same damn thing on a Wal*Mart shelf half price
And still look sexy
Just as sexy
As those models on TV
No I don’t need no designer tag to make my man want me
You might think I’m trashy
A little too hard core
But get in my neck of the woods
I’m just the girl next door

Hey I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Tanya Tucker song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I’m redneck woman
And I ain’t no high class broad
I’m just a product of my raisin’
And I say “hey y’all” and “Yee Haw”
And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long
And I know all the words to every Ol’ Bocephus song
So here’s to all my sisters out there keeping it country
Let me get a big “Hell Yeah” from the redneck girls like me
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah
Hell Yeah

I Said Hell Yeah

***

What I’d love to see: Palin and Wilson in John Murtha’s district in Pennsylvania for a rally with Bill Russell.

***
Hell Yeah: Pam Meister takes on the Beltway Palin-bashers.

Just curious – what makes Obama a snob? Because he went to college? Because he travelled? Because his wife is smart?

    It’s because of statement like..

“So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

    SNOB. Plain and simple.

Let’s see. I’ve been to college. Traveled to, by my count, ten countries so far.

I didn’t need any of that to know that what you call “the global view” on issues is a manufactured lust for collectivism.

But if you pull any “world citizen” off to the side the consensus so far is: move to America for more freedom.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, I had the good fortune to have escorted a brand-new Russian emigre to a Walmart here in the United States.

She cried at what her birthplace had cheated her out of: her time, her freedom, a good chunk of her life and the lives of all those had known.

    You’re disgusting.

If you’ve come to this post to criticize Sarah Palin

Criticizing Palin does not for one second mean support for Obama. Being that McCain’s first presidential decision was to pick Palin as a running mate, it’s foreseeable that when he loses, the Palin pick will come under intense scrutiny.

There is a reason so many prominent conservatives have spoken unfavorably about the Palin nomination – It’s because she represents a profound disdain of intellectualism. One of the tragedies of modern Republicanism is how it has changed from a party of individual philosophy and ideas to a party of shallow identity politics. The Republican “base” now is conditioned to hate anyone who talks of ideology as an elitist – a smug, ivory tower, effeminate intellectual who knows nothing of your day to day struggle. George Bush was elected this way, by putting his ‘folksy’ small town America charm up as his main selling point. Sure, he threw in some conservative talking points to try and win over people who cared about ideology, but that has all been proven a charade. Sarah Palin was picked to try and energize the Bush base – and she absolutely has, as evidenced by this thread. However, as the old saying goes: ‘Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me’ – as many people have figured out the game that’s being played on them, Palin’s numbers have tanked. Trying to compare, in the minds of voters, a presidential election, to electing a Homecoming King/Queen, is failing with disenfranchised voters who were duped into electing Bush.

This has become a much larger issue than McCain/Palin vs Obama, that argument will be over in a week, this is a question of the future of the Republican party. How long will we be out of power, while the party goes to war within to figure out its identity? When the battle is over and Republicans come up with a coherent platform, will it be the platform of Palin – A shallow ideological base masked with ‘redneck’ pandering and banking on identity politics to attain power? Or will it be a platform put forth by Taft, Goldwater and Reagan – Sure in the universal truth contained in the Constitution, based upon individual liberty, and inspiring in the basic ideals of the founders.

Now I’ll go back under my bridge.

Have you looked at the underlying data in these polls? I have.

If you think polling 38% Democrat, 30% Republican and 31% Independents (in one poll from Gallup a couple of weeks ago) is reality, you need to go to school and take a statistics course.

According to the Anchorage newspapers less than two week ago, Palin’s approval rating was 68%.

MORE than Biden, Obama and the rest of congress. Probably still the most popular (approval-rating) governor in the country.

Evidence? Seriously, nyk, do you understand the nature of something that actually is evidence?

An utterance is NOT evidence of anything. Something that is offered as evidence has to be irrefutable, pass close scrutiny, and be impeachable. The sources you cite are not offering opinions on “evidence”, but on “utterance.”

Obama can stop this whole issue about his citizenship simply by providing a truly verifiable and certified original document. He has not, and most likely will not. Why? That is the question.

That is only one reason people are hesitant to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. Other reasons are his refusals to release information about his formative years from Occidental to Columbia, and to answer tough questions about his assiciations. His writing suggest an idealogy much different that what he is now espousing. Why?

We all know the reason…some are not willing to face the truth. People inherently do not like to persceive themselves as being wrong, or of being gullible. In the mad dash to elect “the first black man” to the U.S. presidency in their lifetimes, they are willing to ignore commonsense, and the multitude of “red” flags that have popped up over this man’s campaign. Thankfully, I am not one of them.

Did I prefer George W. Bush? Not at all. He was never a conservative in my view. Why did I vote for him? Two reasons: Al Gore and John Kerry.

I was not voting for President until Obama got the nomination. I could live with Hillary, not Obama. Palin is the only positive thing to coume out of this election cycle, since Jindahl was not on the ticket.

The “prominent conservatives” have many traits, but common sense and values elude them. Their elitism blinds them.

As far as Palin is concerned, I think most would see her as to the right of McCain and therefore good.
Further, when the people of the press that you mention show disdain for Palin, I somehow find that comforting.

I have a feeling that most people here that are harping on this have seen the multiple reports from various media outlets of having seen O’s birth certificate, and their subsequent reports that it’s real. But it’s not what they want to believe, and so they continue to deny its existence.

Um…there is no link here. Although, from the rest of your post I gather that these approval ratings of which you speak are from Alaska. Which is all well and good, but my specific point was that Americans overall — not just Alaskans, mind you, who represent just one state of 50 — DO NOT believe Palin to be competent. If those in her home state do, that’s wonderful. All the better should she have to return there. But that doesn’t counter anything I’ve said about how Americans regard her.

Actually, you’re wrong again. That certificate posted on the fight the smears website and on factcheck.org are not the original. They are a copy from the Department of Health.

What people are asking for is the original certificate of live birth (with weight, etc.,) that is originated through the hospital where he was born.

Interestingly enough the governor of Hawaii has sealed his birth records.

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama’s birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation – and even several lawsuits – WND has learned that Hawaii’s Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate’s birth certificate under seal and instructed the state’s Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances.

Now, if there was nothing to hide, why seal all the records? Why not just come out and give this information to the public and put an end to all the speculation?

What is so embarrassing about releasing an original birth certificate?

Unless, of course, you don’t really have one in the first place.

Buckley was entertaining to listen to, with his weird way of speaking and his attempt to over use multisyllabic words, but I wouldn’t ask him to repair my fence or clean out a drain.

Elitists like Buckley are a dime a dozen and worth about a nickel.

If you want raw intellectualism, you hire them, for that is their profession.

But as for the insane notion that Sarah PPalin is dragging McCain down…I’ve got to laugh…if he goes down its because he didn’t listen to Sarah Palin or commonsense throughout his campaign.

I’m happy that Sarah Palin is in many ways making the McCain campaign move (at all)
