My syndicated column today takes you on a brief tour of some of the most shameful Obamedia moments of 2008. Topping the list: The Los Angeles Times’ suppression of the Obama/Khalidi/Ayers-Dohrn videotape. The blogosphere has been pounding the story, with Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft leading the way. The Times claims it promised a source it wouldn’t show the tape. Can you imagine them abiding by similar conditions if they had a damning McCain/Palin video in hand? Now, reward offers for the missing video are pouring in: see Newt Gingrich; Ace; Dirty Harry; and JWR.
And another reward offer: $150,000.
I repeat: Bleeding newspapers really shouldn’t be pissing off readers. Same goes for the rest of the flailing old media.
No matter. They will cling bitterly to their drool cups until pried from their cold, dead hands.

To paraphrase Queen Elizabeth II, 2008 is not a year on which honest journalists shall look back with undiluted pleasure. This has turned out to be even more of an annus horribilis than 2004, when Dan Rather’s fake Bush/National Guard memo fiasco redefined the “BS” in CBS News. There were so many mainstream journalists swimming in the Democrat tank this year, the nation’s newsrooms looked more like overcrowded aquariums at Petsmart.
In less than a week, the campaign season will be over. But the Obamedia’s most shameful biases and notorious blunders shall not be forgotten. Here’s my top five list, by no means comprehensive and in no particular order:
1. The Los Angeles Times and the suppressed Obama/Jew-bash videotape. In April, L.A. Times reporter Peter Wallsten reported on a 2003 farewell party for radical Palestinian Liberation Organization spokesman/adviser-turned-Ivy League professor Rashid Khalidi. The gala was sponsored by the virulently anti-Israel Arab American Action Network. In attendance: good neighbors Barack Obama and Weather Underground terrorist duo Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
Wallsten reported that the “event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times.” But the news organization refuses to let readers watch the video of Barack and his left-wing terrorist friends for themselves and will not release the tape. It’s “old news” now.
The paper had no problem, however, embedding a clip of Sarah Palin’s 1984 swimsuit pageant video on its gossip blog and deeming it newsworthy.
2.Ogling Obama. In May, CNN posted “breaking news video” of female journalists on Obama’s press plane moaning and fawning over the Democratic presidential candidate as he talked on his cell phone. The caption listed on the network’s website: “Obama in jeans: Sen. Barack Obama surprises the press corps by wearing jeans.”
In the clip, several members of the press corps yell at a Secret Service agent to “sit down” because she’s obstructing their view of their beloved Obama. You can hear the journalists giggle and sigh as Obama straddles across a row of seats and they furiously click away on their cameras. “You’re killing us,” one of them truckles breathlessly.
No, you’re killing yourselves.
Runners-up for Most Drool-Covered groupies: The journalist who squealed “He touched me!” at the UNITY minority journalists’ convention in July; the MSNBC producer who broke down and shed tears of joy upon learning that The One had clinched the Democrat presidential nomination; MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who proclaimed that he “felt a thrill up his leg” after an Obama speech in February; Oprah Winfrey, who confessed she did a “happy dance” for Obama; and the writer for the German publication, BILD, who worked out with Obama at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin and reported: “I put my arm around his hip – wow, he didn’t even sweat! WHAT A MAN!’”
3.The Atlantic Monthly’s deranged photographer. Publisher David Bradley’s once-esteemed magazine hired celebrity lenswoman Jill Greenberg to snap portraits of John McCain. Greenberg, an outspoken left-winger who goaded children into crying on film and captioned the images with anti-Bush slogans, sabotaged the photo shoot and gloated about it on a photo industry website. After tricking McCain into standing over a strobe light to create ugly shadows on his face, she then posted vandalized versions of the McCain imagery on her personal website with crude, vulgar labels and Photoshopping. One featured McCain with fangs and blood dripping down his mouth – with the Greenberg-added words, “I am a bloodthirsty warmongerer (sic).”
Another piece of her “art” showed an ape (a favorite Greenberg subject) defecating on McCain’s head. The highly respected editors at the highly respected Atlantic professed shock, despite Greenberg’s notoriety. The name of her blog: “Manipulator.”
4.The quote doctors and the math manglers at CNN. In a botched attack on Sarah Palin, CNN reporter Drew Griffin cited National Review writer Byron York allegedly questioning her abilities and character: “The National Review had a story saying that, you know, I can’t tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above?” York, however, was characterizing the press coverage of Palin, not speaking for himself.
In a botched tally, CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien proclaimed an audience poll showed “overwhelming” preference for Joe Biden after the vice presidential debate. A freeze frame of the show of hands, however, showed the audience split. The mathematically-challenged O’Brien also claimed that Palin slashed Alaska’s special needs budget by 62 percent (which she recycled from the liberal Daily Kos blog), despite the fact that the governor increased special needs funding by 12 percent. Facts, schmacts.
5. Us Magazine and publisher Jann Wenner’s Obama apparatchiks. The gossip mag’s September partisan slime job on Sarah Palin and her family (“Babies, lies, and scandal”) – which opened the floodgates of Palin-bashing across the mainstream media — was a nadir of the year. Prominent Obama backer Wenner, who ran countless hagiographies of Obama in sister publication Rolling Stone and featured the Obamas with the slavering headline “Why Barack Loves Her” on Us magazine’s June cover, had his media flack e-mail the anti-Palin hit piece to all media in St. Paul for the Republican National Convention:
“Might be useful as an illustration of how the news is playing out,” the flack wrote.
Indeed, the side-by-side covers of the Palin smears and the Obamas’ deification illustrate the year in Obamedia perfectly.

When the Media cover up news such as Khalidi tape or any of the other stuff Michelle mentions it puts an underground effort to destroy our country right in our heart.
It’s been four years since Rathergate and the only person in the old media who seems to be aware of how easily people can access information is Dan Rather himself.
Here’s hoping that the backlash is painful and thorough enough to remind journalists that they are supposed to be neutral.
I think our cat would love to drink from that tank…
Add to the news that should be news: Newsweek has a story on Sarah Palins’ Religious style. Gee, What about the annointed one. I’m still looking for his testimony of faith. At least he gave us a clue: 57 states.
There won’t be a storming of the NYT with pitchforks and torches, as much fun as that might be, but the old media will continue to suffer from this self-inflicted wound. They will continue to bleed red ink, but the worst damage is to their reputation.
Some will hit bottom and crash; some will hit bottom and decide to return to the news business.
Personally, I want to watch exploding heads 6 nights from now when Sarah Palin & the Old Guy win.
With rights comes responsibility, until that balance is returned we will continue to see these excesses. Free speech was not free and freedom of the press was not absolute when our constitution was written. We had the duel and the always full bucket of tar and bag of feathers. Now we are civilized and ban those things, or are we?
His style has something to do with roosting chickens and “God Damn America.”
If McCain wins the election, we will get more of the same.
If Obama wins, I believe it will take the people about two years to realize what the media did. When the people turn on the media and, just like the newspapers, their numbers across the board plunge, to gain credability they will be forced to cover Obama objectively.
One can easily speculate on what an Obama administration will do to any media outlet they feel is engaged in “incorrect political thought.”
Then the media will realize the beast that they have enabled, excused, covered for, fauned or and lied for through omission has turned on them and wants to devour them.
If a bank can be nationalized to make things “fair” for its depositers, when the “Fairness Doctrine” is deemed insufficient to meet the needs of the Dear Leader, then the media outlets are vulnerable as well. At that point we need to put aside our past criticisms and defend them. We need our free press back.

The intellectual dishonesty of these “objective” journalists takes my breath away.
Haven’t subscribed to the paper for years. The Olympian’s leftist bias disgusted me but there was a balanced article once in a great while. Finally had enough during the 2000 presidential race and canceled my subscription. Picked up a coworker’s copy yesterday and realized how little I’ve been missing.
They’re manufacturing buggy whips and don’t even realize it.

Is there anyone who does not know how dishonest and irrelevant the main stream drive by is? Is seems all do but still Big Media molds opinion and drives voters to the Left. Perhaps the “you tell a lie big enough, often enough many will believe it” is true. Is it the hardness of their hearts and selfishness that allows so many millions of our people to blindly follow these talking heads?
When I see the faces of the crowds at Obama events, the faces of the media people I am shocked by the almost mesmerized look. It reminds me of the crowds fawning over Adolph Hitler in the old newsreels.
This is not all new; I saw it in the smears and lies about Barry Goldwater in 1964. In 1968 millions watched the Hippies riot in Chicago-saw what they had done and still bought the media’s BS about the Chicago Police and Illinois National Guard attacked the “students”. Or as Senator Abraham Ribicoff put it “America’s best and brightest”. Senator Abraham Ribicoff’s mouth is what it took to get my parents out of the wrong Party.

Watching F & F this morning a person (sorry missed his name) stated “in the tank for obama is an understatement, they are working for him”
summed up perfectly.
The primary purpose of the First Amendment was to create a fourth institution outside the government as an additional check on the three official branches.
The final arbiter of the meaning of the First Amendment has upheld the right of the press to perform its function as a check on official power.
Now that all four of our checks and balances have lost their moral grounding, where do we go from here?

Can you imagine if it were a movie or TV show? A Presidential candidate with very little experience doing anything. A running mate who can’t seem to keep his foot out of his mouth. The candidate’s sordid past with a bigot “faith experience” church and friendships with terrorists. Iffy financial contributions that could only be from all over the world. A wife who has never been proud of her own country or its people. A media who can’t be bothered to ask any tough questions, instead focusing on his blue jeans and the other candidate’s houses. And a public who lap it all up and are going to treat the election like an “American Idol” phone poll.
It would be an entertaining movie. However, it’s real life and it’s pathetic.
And we have us “We the People” such as in

I can only watch Fox News now… my nerves can’t take it.
Aside from the occasional gander at what’s going on over at FNC, I don’t even bother with the t.v. or newspaper for current events. All I get from those outlets are one sided opinions from brainless journalists with their head buried in the big O of the Big O.
I’m really hoping that we don’t have that many stupid people in our country that will hand over a Big O victory. I’m pretty optimistic that the media and it’s sheep are a small percentage of the voting populous, and I guess I’ll find out in 6 days.

I do believe sausage is more concerned with “A lie is the truth if it is helpful, the truth is a lie if it is not helpful”.
Indeed, the GObama Media subterfuge has reached a fever pitch. Not coincidentally my lower GI has been wildly overactive. No doubt there are appropriate correlations physically and metaphorically.
There’s also the people who believe that two years as a state governor does not prepare one to be a Vice-President, but two years as a Senator makes one extremely qualified to be President.

Couldn’t the McCain camp just recreate the video?
The L.A. Times does not deny the video, nor does it deny the content.
So why not just recreate it using images of Obama, Dohrn, Ayers, etc….?
In dictatorships and solcialist regimes, the press is an arm of the ruling government, spewing total propaganda against it’s enemies (e.g. the old Soviet Union spreading lies about the US, the Nazi’s spreading lies about the Allies). Here we have the press as an arm of the ruling party (potentially – the election isn’t over yet), spreading lies about the republicans. This is where we are heading under a BHO administration.
It will be very interesting to see what the aftermath of news media selling a candidate. They sold an concept of defeat in Vietnam and the American Public has never lived it down. Since when has the reporting of deceit been news.
I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I have an idea for the BHO TV thing tonight:
Maybe other networks should broadcast Red Dawn against Obama? Of course that might already be the title of tonight’s infomercial.

Supposedly Plato’s Republic-I haven’t read it since college–But that statement was mantra for the left all my life-and posted on VW buses along with the Foot Print of the American Chicken on college campuses all over the damn place.

Just saw on Drudge that former Senator Bob Kerry (NE) basically called Oblama a hypocrite for going back on campaign financing agreement. Also, Campbell Brown from CNN who is in the tank for Obama is complaining about it. Also, she was mad about Palin being called a Diva–probably because she thinks she is the Diva. At any rate, I seem to sense that everyone is beginning to cover their bets on this election. McCain is gaining daily and Oblama can’t stay above 50% in the most reliable polls. Keep praying.
This tape has to be very damaging for the Obambi campaign for the dopes at the Times to hold on to it. The story about the story is making it an even bigger story. I hope they keep it up.

Since we know from reports that Ayers was there too heaping slobbering Anti Semite praise on Khalidi… could there be some video with Obama and Calipso Louis Farrakhan being all Chummy in there too???
Would seem about par with the group and reason for the little get-to-gether.
The difference between european style socialism and marxism at least for the press, is that in european style socialism you still have some freedom of the press. In marxism, the government is the press. We have seen the start of this with the 2 news stations being shut out for daring to ask the one a question.

I would say it is usualy the most balanced. That is why liberals fear fox news. I watch a bit of all of them and fox is the most balanced even with its leanings.

HUSSEIN 80% of the time… Fact is I think it is closer to 90%… They are trying to buy this election for B. HUSSEIN, by slanted JOURNALISM… It hasn’t worked before, and it will not work this time… GUT feeling, MCCAIN BY A LANDSLIDE…
Although not as much a banner year as 2007, where she lost her Fox O’Reilly gig, stalked a 12 year old boy and his family, and, perhaps best of all, discovered that her ideas about the MSM conspiracy theory that she touted about Jamil Hussein for the better part of the year were COMPLETELY false (which she never retracted)…
2008 was a great year for Michelle Malkin as well. Most notably was the realization in April that her THREE YEARS of following the Bilal Hussein “story” turned out unsuccessful. He was released, an innocent man. THREE YEARS.
Bilal who? Google it, friends. Look up in the Malkin archives. It’s an epic story. Read the fervor for the man’s guilt, and then listen for the crickets when the case was dropped and he was released.
It also led to the even further marginalization of Ms. Malkin in the already shady shady world of political punditry and political blogging.
And there has ever been a retraction for this one either! Has there? (crickets)
Malkin is like the Inspector Clouseau of the right wing blogosphere, except of course that she’s not funny. At all.

I guess I’ve always been naive. It’s incomprehensible to me that we can no longer, in this country trust that our news is being reported accurately.
Maybe it has always been so, but now because there is so much competition in the industry, everything is brought into focus. The news stories that get told by some, and those that do not by some. I do believe when people are the gatekeepers for all that is true and honest, you can absolutely expect to be disappointed.
I have real problems with any campaign that is so flush with money that it can very possibly buy a victory. Obama has done exactly what he said he wouldn’t and that is put himself in a situation whereby he owes special intersts. Who, after all the money that has been thrown at his campain does he not owe?! But, it will be at our expense. Unbelievable that in 2008, a campaign can very possibly literally buy victory. Unreal!

I haven’t been here near as long as some, but in the time I have, I’ve never seen so many trolls on here hurling hatefulness as has happend over this past week. They don’t just insult – they go out for the kill and you can’t seem to get away from it.
The only remedy I can see is to abandon a thread, or just not feed them. I doubt after the election, it will be much different though, they aren’t going anywhere.
Go advice. He won’t answer an objective question anyway. Why bother.

I hope this can be put into practice, because if not, nothing on here will be worth reading or discussing. I’m guilty of blowing my cool because I’ve allowed myself to get drawn into the continual hatefulness. Bad idea and the only option for me would be not to come here and that’s what they want.
Sure as I’m breathing air this morning, there will come a day that all those in the tank for Obama will come to regret their decision.

The other liberals who post here either are quick and go or are somewhat respectfull. This watershed misquotes, lies, insults, deliberately agrovates, and seeks to disrupt all day long. He is the only one that I think michelle should consider banning simply because he doesn’t even try to bring anything to the table.

It’s unfortunate that Obama has had the ability to buy the press because he did what he said he wouldn’t do.

I really believe McCain/Palin are going to win this thing! I also think showing the light as MM has done, as Fox, Drudge has done on the MSM has helped the cause tremendously. I think Obama would be so destructive to this nation. Look at what his campaign has accomplished to this end already.

Because there are blatant racists and extremely violent natured anti-Americans here, just like you claim there only are in Obama’s world, and with a little coaxing, you come out from under your rocks to prove your incredible hypocrisy.
For two immediate examples, Rob is flat out racist who wants to keep the WHITE HOUSE WHITE, and Sonofdy is a militant anti-American wanna be terrorist, who claims the only way to “take Obama out is through militancy”.
It’s fun to watch the hypocrisy among the fervent “patriotism” that is supposedly your side’s big claim. And in seeing it, it only confirms that your site, and this board, are an absolute fringe joke.
Most of all I like watching you squirm as a black man becomes President. It kills a lot of you inside. It makes you angry, and desirous of violence.

All of these polls that show Obama by a large margin, winning most of the toss up states, saying Palin is a drag on the ticket… they just don’t pass the smell test.

A very self-important college freshman attending a recent football game, took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.
“You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one,” the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. “The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon, our spaceships have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with light-speed processing and,”… pausing to take another drink of beer.
The senior took advantage of the break in the student’s litany and said, “You’re right, son. We didn’t have those things when we were young so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little jerk what are you doing for the next generation?”
The applause was resounding…
