Notorious Obamedia moments of 2008

In the tank.
My syndicated column today takes you on a brief tour of some of the most shameful Obamedia moments of 2008. Topping the list: The Los Angeles Times’ suppression of the Obama/Khalidi/Ayers-Dohrn videotape. The blogosphere has been pounding the story, with Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft leading the way. The Times claims it promised a source it wouldn’t show the tape. Can you imagine them abiding by similar conditions if they had a damning McCain/Palin video in hand? Now, reward offers for the missing video are pouring in: see Newt Gingrich; Ace; Dirty Harry; and JWR.
And another reward offer: $150,000.
I repeat: Bleeding newspapers really shouldn’t be pissing off readers. Same goes for the rest of the flailing old media.
No matter. They will cling bitterly to their drool cups until pried from their cold, dead hands.

Notorious Obamedia Moments of 2008

To paraphrase Queen Elizabeth II, 2008 is not a year on which honest journalists shall look back with undiluted pleasure. This has turned out to be even more of an annus horribilis than 2004, when Dan Rather’s fake Bush/National Guard memo fiasco redefined the “BS” in CBS News. There were so many mainstream journalists swimming in the Democrat tank this year, the nation’s newsrooms looked more like overcrowded aquariums at Petsmart.
In less than a week, the campaign season will be over. But the Obamedia’s most shameful biases and notorious blunders shall not be forgotten. Here’s my top five list, by no means comprehensive and in no particular order:
1. The Los Angeles Times and the suppressed Obama/Jew-bash videotape. In April, L.A. Times reporter Peter Wallsten reported on a 2003 farewell party for radical Palestinian Liberation Organization spokesman/adviser-turned-Ivy League professor Rashid Khalidi. The gala was sponsored by the virulently anti-Israel Arab American Action Network. In attendance: good neighbors Barack Obama and Weather Underground terrorist duo Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
Wallsten reported that the “event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times.” But the news organization refuses to let readers watch the video of Barack and his left-wing terrorist friends for themselves and will not release the tape. It’s “old news” now.
The paper had no problem, however, embedding a clip of Sarah Palin’s 1984 swimsuit pageant video on its gossip blog and deeming it newsworthy.
2.Ogling Obama. In May, CNN posted “breaking news video” of female journalists on Obama’s press plane moaning and fawning over the Democratic presidential candidate as he talked on his cell phone. The caption listed on the network’s website: “Obama in jeans: Sen. Barack Obama surprises the press corps by wearing jeans.”
In the clip, several members of the press corps yell at a Secret Service agent to “sit down” because she’s obstructing their view of their beloved Obama. You can hear the journalists giggle and sigh as Obama straddles across a row of seats and they furiously click away on their cameras. “You’re killing us,” one of them truckles breathlessly.
No, you’re killing yourselves.
Runners-up for Most Drool-Covered groupies: The journalist who squealed “He touched me!” at the UNITY minority journalists’ convention in July; the MSNBC producer who broke down and shed tears of joy upon learning that The One had clinched the Democrat presidential nomination; MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who proclaimed that he “felt a thrill up his leg” after an Obama speech in February; Oprah Winfrey, who confessed she did a “happy dance” for Obama; and the writer for the German publication, BILD, who worked out with Obama at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin and reported: “I put my arm around his hip – wow, he didn’t even sweat! WHAT A MAN!’”
3.The Atlantic Monthly’s deranged photographer. Publisher David Bradley’s once-esteemed magazine hired celebrity lenswoman Jill Greenberg to snap portraits of John McCain. Greenberg, an outspoken left-winger who goaded children into crying on film and captioned the images with anti-Bush slogans, sabotaged the photo shoot and gloated about it on a photo industry website. After tricking McCain into standing over a strobe light to create ugly shadows on his face, she then posted vandalized versions of the McCain imagery on her personal website with crude, vulgar labels and Photoshopping. One featured McCain with fangs and blood dripping down his mouth – with the Greenberg-added words, “I am a bloodthirsty warmongerer (sic).”

Another piece of her “art” showed an ape (a favorite Greenberg subject) defecating on McCain’s head. The highly respected editors at the highly respected Atlantic professed shock, despite Greenberg’s notoriety. The name of her blog: “Manipulator.”
4.The quote doctors and the math manglers at CNN. In a botched attack on Sarah Palin, CNN reporter Drew Griffin cited National Review writer Byron York allegedly questioning her abilities and character: “The National Review had a story saying that, you know, I can’t tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above?” York, however, was characterizing the press coverage of Palin, not speaking for himself.
In a botched tally, CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien proclaimed an audience poll showed “overwhelming” preference for Joe Biden after the vice presidential debate. A freeze frame of the show of hands, however, showed the audience split. The mathematically-challenged O’Brien also claimed that Palin slashed Alaska’s special needs budget by 62 percent (which she recycled from the liberal Daily Kos blog), despite the fact that the governor increased special needs funding by 12 percent. Facts, schmacts.
5. Us Magazine and publisher Jann Wenner’s Obama apparatchiks. The gossip mag’s September partisan slime job on Sarah Palin and her family (“Babies, lies, and scandal”) – which opened the floodgates of Palin-bashing across the mainstream media — was a nadir of the year. Prominent Obama backer Wenner, who ran countless hagiographies of Obama in sister publication Rolling Stone and featured the Obamas with the slavering headline “Why Barack Loves Her” on Us magazine’s June cover, had his media flack e-mail the anti-Palin hit piece to all media in St. Paul for the Republican National Convention:
“Might be useful as an illustration of how the news is playing out,” the flack wrote.
Indeed, the side-by-side covers of the Palin smears and the Obamas’ deification illustrate the year in Obamedia perfectly.

Sounds about right.
I wonder, if in addition to actively trying their best to annoy, they weren’t also the type in high school that would get beaten up just for the hell of it.
I used to think that they didn’t deserve to get beaten up; now, I’m not so sure….
Sort of like a read-only CD-ROM.
Good one!

And the post directly below it as well, for good measure.

It was already addressed. How did you get this job with this aversion to reading that you seem to have?
Was it some kind of nepotism thing? A campaign manager at the Obama camp had a good-for-nothing nephew that couldn’t get work or something?
Are you getting paid for the post like ACORN pays for a completed registration form?
Your debate style is so MSNBC. If you’d actually engage people on what they write or don’t, then you would get fewer comments in regards to your mental capacity.
I understand it is hard to be creative with your kommissar campaign manager breathing over your neck as you type on the computer, but try to relax and really engage.
They won’t throw you in prison for making a mistake. Not yet anyway.

I answered your question. Go look! I guess just not, what, troll-y enough?
And the charge that I am HIDING is of course wackadoo, as I am the most conspicuous poster here, John Deaux. that’s not really gonna stick in my craw, or hold up to scrutiny.
Chill. I get a LOT of responses. Most are the “you’re an idiot” kind, granted, but othe ones I do respond to take time.
How is health care a right? How is it fair to make Americans pay for others’ healthcare? How? The federal government can’t run the post office or the school system efficiently, what makes you think healthcare will fare any better? Just because you want a freebie doesn’t mean that everybody else has to pay for it.
If you think the tax burden will actully be “shifted” from the middle class to the wealthy, then you haven’t mastered mathematics all that well. Why is Biden lowering the salary of those who must be taxed from 250k to 150k. What will be the effect of the wealthy paying more taxes? What is plan B if Obummer doesn’t get all the funding for the “fairness” he envisions?
How much of the military will Obummer cut to refashion America? I’m not talking about Iraq here either. How less safe will we be when Obummer sticks it to the military like Clinton did?
It reflects you well when you think it’s fair for one group of people to pay virtually all the taxes while everybody else lives off of their ingenuity, risk, and success. It reveals the true nature of human weakness that the Obummer candidacy appeals to. Obummer is popular with low-income, minorities, even the educated who think freebies are great as long as they don’t have to pick up the tab.
It didn’t work in Europe. That’s why their economies (except Ireland) are stagnant and why their social welfare states are having trouble paying for their socialized healthcare system (just look at Great Britain).
Great article Michelle! I hope that the media is one of the biggest losers in this election, besides Obama of course.

Ya. Watershed appears to have a major problem. Arsonist mentality is my best diagnoses.
What do you think folks.
You told me that socialism is my word, that’s all. That’s not an answer.
How are redistribution of income and guaranteed health care not socialist?

Watershed #276:
I think your comparison is lacking in both historical relevance and factual argument. The ’60’s overtuned not just political but social/sexual mores. It’s the sort of thing that happened after the Bolsheviks took over after the Russian Revolution.
If Obummer tries to overturn people’s RIGHTS and not just political, social, or cultural mores, there will be consequences. How would you feel if government started doing the following:
1. Institute the Fairness Doctrine so that only one political viewpoint colors the commentary and coverage.
2. Take away peoples’ guns so that they cannot protect themselves or go hunting.
3. Overly tax a citizen to make things so fair that everyone is equally poor and miserable.
4. Downsize the military so that the country can no longer protect itself.
If Obummer crosses the line into something not quite so democratic, do you think the military will stand for it? The military already doesn’t trust Obummer so will they follow someone who takes their fellow citizens’ rights away?
The first American revolution was about taxation without representation. What you fail to recognize is that there are many Americans who resent being taxed for things they’ve already paid for (like vehicles). People are voting based on emotion, not reason. If that emotion turns into something significantly less harmonious like a deep recession, steep job losses, and a depletion of rights in favor of equal poverty, what recourse will Americans have?
I think we should put it out of its misery.
What? Being threatened was the impetus for his disappearance the last time.

“I know you think that a living wage and education and health care are all bad things for every American to have, I just don’t know why.”
Do you know
that does not have this now? Then define:
Living wage.
Education.
Health care.
Define these, then again, tell me you know ONE person that does not have all of the above.
Because Obamarx says their not. Obamarxism isn’t socialism. It’s…what did The One call it? ‘Trickle Up’ economics?
po-ta-to/po-tah-to.
Watershed, while the notion of government providing health care to everyone may be of benefit to some folks, the majority of us will end up hurting because of it. It is evident that you have never used any government assistance as you would know that the reality of government health care is a freaking nightmare.
I am a veteran, while in the military, there were long waites, poor service, and doctors that if they made a mistake, could not be brought to trial. Please look at other countries that provide health care to everyone. Why are these folks coming here to have operations? Because of they would end up dead waiting for someone to do the operation in their own country.
One fact you ARE missing here is the fact hospitals treat anyone REGUARDLESS of the ability to pay. Where do you think those 12 million illegals get their treatment from?
Government has proven time and time again they can’t run anything effectively and you want them running your health care program?
My health care provider will use me for a lab rat, treating me with experimental drugs with out my consent. If those doctors screw up and end up either killing or maiming me for life, I can’t sue them. Not to mention trying to even get an appointment for someone to actually see me if I’m sick. Guess who my primary health care provider is….
The Veterans Administration!
Rights are God-given and not anything that costs someone else for it to be attained. Therefore any type of service is not a right as it requires someone else to provide the service.
I like the US Weekly title for Obama:
“Why Barack Loves Her.” No really, why? What’s not to love about a shrew who lights her husband up in public?
Interesting that conservatives always choose to see the “tank” half full. If the LA Times were really in it to elect Obama, they wouldn’t have run the story in the first place.

She agrees and adds that you better not forget your anniversary.
Here is a good read about what we can expect with Obama at the helm.
Obama’s Constitution
If there is a right to welfare, then the people of America should have a right to productivity from welfare recipients. Report to the welfare office then wait for the worker’s bus to shuttle them off to a fair days work for a fair wage. Most of the illegal aliens in this country at least do work, and if the illegal alien gets the oval office he should honor their work ethic by enforcing it on everyone.
watershed, you haven’t discussed why 10% tax cuts for the poorest, 5%tax cuts for the next poorest group and 3% tax cuts for the highest income is only a tax cut for the rich? why do we have to subsidize opera and orchestra but not sports teams. oh yeah you will talk about the stadium financing being subsidy, but that generally is because the city wants the parking, food and rent fees not to mention the hiring of the POOR in these jobs. i’ve been on these boards, and the owners state unequivically that if they are going to build the stadium, it won’t be in the ghetto of downtown anywhere, but will be in the suburbs where the people are. you really can’t believe that the 90’s was eutopia, obviously you didn’t work in the tech sector or have investments in nasdaq. clinton kept the reagan tax cuts EXCEPT he raised the top rate 3% up, but it was still 30+ % lower than when reagan took over. and the reagan economy with a few hicups is still bringing prosperity to the u.s. today. todays housing/banking debacle is socialism (housing and loans for everyone whether they can afford it or not) driven. EVERY factual analysis of todays economy shows we are considerably better off than we were in the 60’s, the 70’s, the 80’s or the 90’s. education, life expectancy (health care), home ownership, salaries, taxes paid, etc. the problem has always been and it is not a liberal vs conservative problem but a congressman problem that they can’t resist spending more money than they take in to assure we are all willing to reelect them. dems give to teachers, lawyers, gays, blacks, their constituency and it’s causes, while republicans give to military, business, and their constituency and it’s causes. together they can outspend any budget. a look at the budgets of every president since nixon has shown the amount of increase in the debt has risen by a very similar amount right up to this GINORMOUS bailout of the last month. you can count on a doubling of the debt for every 4 year presidential term since nixon regardless of party.
Exactly why I got married on my birthday.

That tape must have some really damaging evidence on it for the LAT to hod on to it.
Thats me. I actualy did list myself as a Pacific Islander once to she what would happen. The government drone was stymied.
YA THINK?!
Good point!
Totally agree.
MissCheryl, shrug it off. actually i am glad that the racist word is wearing off. i don’t care anymore and you should not either. the racist word on the left is their “safety word”. it is what they yell to stop the debate. it shows that they cannot win in the arena of ideas. when racist does not work, screaming to drown out your opponent is the next strategy. don’t let it upset you, it just shows how small they really are.

Hello:
The tank isn’t half full on this election when it comes to the LAT; when it comes to the paid-for-by-obama media. It’s overflowing.
Let’s see if you can actually grasp the fact that the LAT obamabots announced the tape back in the Spring, and now they cannot show the rest of us “inferiors” what it is all about. They made a promise? WTF is that worth to the LAT?
Where is the hysteria, and where is the surmise, that you attribute to MM?
The pattern is very clear to all but the brain dead. And that is the fact that ANY objections to the half-honky-all-donkey are deemed by the dhimmicrats as not worthy of discussion, as DISTRACTIONS.
And to boot, the dhimmis WiILL trash your private life, if you so much as question the h-h-a-d’s response.
Thank you Wayfaring Stranger! It can be comforting to come to realize that God knows us by our souls because that is who we really are. The rest just really doesn’t matter, but the rest can determine your essence if you want it to. That’s why every living soul is so incredibly special and incredibly important to help each one of us to become everything we can be. Even the trolls!
’stymied’–har! made me blow snot out of my nose.
Correct.
Bingo!
There’s the difference in worldviews.
The socialists/statists deny the existence of the soul, ridicule the very idea of a soul; with the result that all they have left is “the rest”, and “the rest” thus, by default, determines their essence: money, sex, and power, as I’d written earlier.
sorry, watershed, but we’ve all seen plenty of would-be “Hitler youth” on the net recently, and they ALL are chanting the Messiah’s name.
Please F*ck off, will you?
The term “Racist” is so overused, so undefined, so bogus these days, it means zip, nada, zero. And for me it is a badge of honor that I will sometimes wear whenever it is written or spoken by a communist or socialist, or anarchist.
Not because I feel differently about “people of color”, or because I treat them as less-than. But just because I have been called today’s N-word and I know who called it; the ones who don’t have rational arguments for their attempts to take over my life, my property, my way of life.
Not they just use hate speech to try and shut me up. To them I say FOAD. Also, when you come and try to shut me up…oh well I won’t give away the ending.
Agreed, and its a real shame.

And that, as Forest Gump would say, is all I have to say about that.
Well wighttrasch you have to do something really “crackery”. Have you out an old car in the yard? An old washing machine might do, but a car with the wheels off will get you to “cracker” status quick. I found an old Ford and it looks like hell.

First exit poll of Actual American Voters Shows BIG McCain/Palin Win!
The Lying Media Could Have Blood on Their Hands
Imagine the hypothetical future news story by a reformed news media. It is sure to be a wonderful dream and at the sametime a nightmare for respective sides of the political divide. It goes something like this…
“At the height of affirmative action before the people came to their senses and finally declared it unconstitutional, the liberal media used affirmative action policies to help the less experienced (unqualified) candidate Barack Obama ascend to the presidency of the United States over the more experienced and qualified John McCain. Obama subsequently ran the United States into the ground. The people revolted justifiably and Obama’s “spread the wealth” polices were forever declared unconstitutional. In addition, the first amendment was modified to replace the “of the press” clause with the “the press must present triple checked facts only” clause. Ever since those constitutional changes, all Americans have learned to be more responsible, have become more patriotic, and all have achieved the American Dream. The United States has been the envy of the entire world ever since.”
So which part of the hypothetical news story is your nightmare and which is your wonderful dream?
