Obama TV: Dear Leader’s infomercial
Higher purpose…blahblahblah…Change We Need…blahblahblah…Every American must play a role…Take care of one another…blahblahblah…
Just doing a little pre-liveblogging of the Obama-mercial, which begins in just a few minutes.
Wonder if Aunt Zeituni Onyango will be tuning in:
Barack Obama has lived one version of the American Dream that has taken him to the steps of the White House. But a few miles from where the Democratic presidential candidate studied at Harvard, his Kenyan aunt and uncle, immigrants living in modest circumstances in Boston, have a contrasting American story.
Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.
A second relative believed to be the long-lost “Uncle Omar” described in the book was beaten by armed robbers with a “sawed-off rifle” while working in a corner shop in the Dorchester area of the city. He was later evicted from his one-bedroom flat for failing to pay $2,324.20 (£1,488) arrears, according to the Boston Housing Court.
The US press has repeatedly rehearsed Mr Obama’s extraordinary odyssey, but the other side of the family’s American experience has only been revealed in parts. Just across town from where Mr Obama made history as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, some of his closest blood relatives have confronted the harshness of immigrant life in America.
8:00pm Eastern. Here we go. The ad opens up with amber waves of grain, American flags…
The phoniness reeks.
“Change” count: 10.
Obama is now profiling Americans in economic distress.
1) Rebecca Johnson (Johnston?). She’s mad about rising mortgage payments.
Obama’s decrying the market turmoil, touting the “rescue plan” (AKA crap sandwich), and bloviating about his bogus tax cuts.
2) Now, he’s talking to a retiree about his pension. He repeats his new mantra that “government can’t solve all our problems.” He’s been saying this over and over again the past few days. His internals must show that the “Senator Government” jibe is hurting him. (See: The Democrats want your 401(k))
3) Obama moves on to a black couple without medical insurance and burdensome home payments. More sob stories.
No, don’t expect to see any sympathy for renters or couples who refrained from indulging in the subprime craze.
4) Promises, promises, promises — tax credits for fuel efficient cars, invest in clean coal, expand domestic production for oil.
Again: “Government can’t do it all.”
And: “Usher in a new era of responsibility.”
5) Iraq. “We are spending more in Iraq now than when we started the war.” So… he wouldn’t have spent money on the surge that he opposed but now supports?
Google CEO Eric Schmidt makes an appearance. Va. Democrat Gov. Tim Kaine.
6) Another heart-wrenching tale. A woman working two jobs and taking classes at night. She feels like she’s drowning in bills.
Who doesn’t?
It’s not clear what exactly she wants — and what Obama wants us to do. Pay for her educational training? What?
7) Obama is talking about his family now. Too funny: They’re playing his soundbite about turning the tv off and putting away the video games. Tell it to Malia, mister.
Hardly saw his father. Had to wake up early. Now here we go: His Education Plan will give tax credits for training. Right To Affordable Health Care.
But hey – government can’t solve all our problems!
8:18pm Eastern. Now, he’s talking about his mother. No mention of Aunt Zeituni or the brother in the Kenyan shanty.
8:19pm Eastern. BITTER HALF ALERT. Michelle Obama praises The One’s fathering skills. “He doesn’t forget anything.”
Oh, dear. They just showed the clip of him proclaiming, “I am my brother’s keeper.”
Quintuple-snort-worthy.
8:20pm Eastern. SMIRKY JOE ALERT. Me, too. Me, too. Smirky’s a working-class, regular Joe, too!
8. Another couple facing hard times, layoffs.
9) Obama promises to be Mr. Tough on national security. He’ll bolster the military. (Not if Barney Frank has his say.)
Guffaw: A supporter says he wants a leader who is devoted to the Constitution.
Sorry, I am having a snort attack.
Gag: A slideshow of glowy, Messianic photos flashes by. Obama hugs. Obama empathizes. Obama heeeaaaaals.
All hail the Lightworker. Fixer of Souls. Spreader of Wealth.
8:26pm Eastern. Bill Suck-Up Richardson makes an appearance. Auditioning for Energy Secretary or something.
Finally: Website pluggage: barackobama.com. Go. Now.
The Obama Programming Project is complete.

You know what Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama have in common?
Besides being Communists,
hating Israel,
thinking higher gas prices are better for the country,
etc.?
In my opinion, it appears that Brzezinski has Kremlin connections. The man was NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR to President Carter, and is an “advisor” to Barack Obama.
When a Communist is Commander-in-Chief, good men die. I have a sick feeling in my stomach that the mission to rescue the hostages in Iran was sabotaged.
How Would Jesus Vote?
I wonder why Barack Hussein Obama didn’t say, as he has many times before:
While the New King James version of the Bible mentions the word “salvation” 161 times, it NEVER mentions the word “collective“.
So where did Barack Hussein Obama learn his unBiblical concept of “collective” salvation?
From “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright and 20+ years of Marxist “Black Liberation Theology”.
The “Liberation Theology” that I follow applies to all people, regardless of skin color.
And it is not “collective“.
Best comment from blogs about election so far:
Figures a (budding) lawyer would get all turned on by being lied to. What’s the matter? You mean while you were running around for ACORN filling out all those bogus registrations you forgot to save a few for yourself?
Hmmmm I guess it is his good works, not Christ, that is going to save him?
Best of luck to him on that one.
Sorry didn’t see any of it. Caught the last couple innings of the ’series’ though.
Okay, about the whole waking your kid up at 4:30 am crap…
My kids ages 5 & 7 are expected to do their homework in the afternoon or early evening BEFORE they go to bed.
The only way they would be doing homework at 4:30am is if I neglected my duties as a parent and didn’t make sure they got their homework done the night before.
I’ll admit this has happened once or twice, but I’ll also admit that it was negligence on my part and NOT an indication of any personal sacrifice or dedication to my childrens’ education. If one of my children tried to “boast” about waking up before dawn for “lessons” I would be mortified that the world knew I didn’t have my act together enough to make sure my child was prepared for his next day at school before he went to bed.
Txvet2, I think Chap was just attempting a bit of sarcastic humor.
I could be wrong, but…….
Obama recently acknowledged — although not in his commercial — that:
Translation: Goodbye tax cuts! Like Clinton, Obama has no intention of keeping his promises, once he is elected.
Papa Louie,
I agree. I wrote earlier today that the odds of my cat being hit by a meteor were higher than the odds of an Obama tax cut after Nov 4.
Obama voted to RAISE taxes 42 times during his first 2 year in the Senate. Frist ever mention by him of a tax cut ws Septmber 2007 in repsonse to a Hillary tax cut proposal. PANDER PANDER
Instead of listening to Karl Marx reborn I’ve been watching America’s Funniest Home Video’s. Maybe BHO should submit his cough, bleech, uh-uh-uh-uh (to mimic him)
messageinfomercial to AFV. Oh, wait, that would not be helpful MO’s kids.Agreed. It was just a joke.
How Would Karl Marx Vote?
You know, Cindy McCain has the grace to provide an apartment for an elderly relative and then gets dinged for having ‘7′ houses when Obama can’t provide 10 bucks to his brother.
What a slim!
You know who else was a “Lightworker“?
The guy that Saul Alinksy acknowledged in the front matter of “Rules for Radicals”.
So now we’re ridiculing Obama for trying hard, are we?
That’s all I’m really seeing here.

I don’t whom I have more contempt for–Obama, or the clowns that believe his bilge.
Did I miss anything? I was watching “Mythbusters” What’s the new slogan? “Change for change sake” or “Four legs good, two legs bad”?
Does he still want my 401k? He can frelling have it, since him and his bastard a$$ party destroyed it with their greed and social enslavement of minorities.
I grew up in hawaii and visit from time to time. The Hawaiian plantation reeks of Obama-ism. It epitomizes the Democratic philosophy of keeping control by keeping people poor. And the people of Hawaii seem to enjoy being slaves.

I can’t get mad at someone voting for Obama if he or she has never gotten anything but propaganda.
I am reserving my anger for the propagandists, and they are legion.
Obama claims is that its up to us to help our fellow man that is in need. Biblically that is correct. However, the Bible speaks to the individual. He doesn’t lay that claim on government to “make” people help their fellow man. It has to come from the heart. Not mandated. I can be very benevolent to others when I’m not using my own money.
He wonders why Christians haven’t fallen for his proclamations that he too is a Christian. He may call himself one but his actions and words say otherwise. A key tenet on what Christians are to do is take care of the needs of their own family if necessary. Obama has a brother in Kenya who lives on meager earnings. It’s now learned he has an Aunt and Uncle in the Boston area that are living in less than desirable conditions. With all the resources he’s accumulated over the years, there is no reason that he shouldn’t be helping them financially rather than expecting the government to take that burden on.
Obama is a liar and a hypocrite. His own words condemn him.
I didn’t watch BO last night..(thanks Michelle for watching for me!)..the only info I know about his ‘talk’ is from this site. I have a question…I can’t figure out why ‘the one’ felt the need to do the infomercial. One would think you would pull this play when you aren’t certain of a win, which would mean he doesn’t believe the polls..like most of us. But, I’m not sure he has self doubt..so, did he do this because he’s so full of himself that it was a ‘I am the supreme leader, bow down to me’ kind of move?
What do you think? Thanks for your help..
So…is this a legit issue or is the blogger off base about Aunty Z. being an illegal immigrant? If she is and Obama knows, what’s up with that?
http://www.bobkrumm.com/blog/?p=2041
Haven’t we seen this type of thing before? Oh yeah, Sally Struthers! Nevermind.
Obama’s National Service Plan . . . “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”
I see, and what do we call this civilian national security force . . . Gestapo or KGB? This guy is horrifyingly frightening.
I see over 200 posts of OBAMA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.
Even Malkin’s got it. Hell, there’s discussion of violent revolution and moving to other countries all over this site. I thought only crazy liberals talked that way!
Shoe’s on the other foot, hypocrites. How’s it feel?
bow down to him?? never…ever…I’ll die first….
With his stance on gun control, I doubt they’ll be armed. Maybe they can carry sticks and say “bang, bang”.

Okey dokie. Whatever that means!
Watershed, it’s still not working. Can we speak to your manager?
Tell him to send us a new collectivist with higher reading comprehension skills.

I come to this site for its startling and frankly hilarious lack of self awareness. Calling liberals “blame america first”ers and then claiming your gonna move to Brazil is ironic. Decrying 60’s radicalism and then calling for the militant overthrow of an Obama Presidency is SOOOO ironic.
It’s fun to read and it’s fun to call out. And it’s fun to watch you defend the hypocrisy. You guys are the fringiest!
Hey Watershed, I live near Tampa, and I guarantee it won’t be me rioting if Obama wins or loses. However, I am going to be prepared to spend a couple of days with my family – indoors!
I wasn’t prepare when I lived and worked in Los Angeles in 1992. That was a big mistake, one that I’m not going to repeat.
LOL
Obama can kiss my ass if he thinks I am about to devote my life to his pronunciations.
Seriously. Who the F does this arrogant puissant think he is?
What a major league dweeb.

Riot if Obama loses
“On October 29th, 2008 at 11:58 pm, Digshot said: So now we’re ridiculing Obama for trying hard, are we?”
No! We are ridiculing the fact that Obama, even with the MSM in his pocket, would spend money on an infomercial as a way avoiding the media.
If Obama becomes President, the Football carried by his military assistant will be replaced by a portable Teleprompter carried by a media specialist.
Where’s that birth certificate of his? Or his transcripts? Or the person(s) who paid for his education?
By all means, try to win an election with these ridiculous conspiracy theories as your strategy. For this and a million other resaons, it is why you are losing. The electorate isn’t buying any more of that crap.
I only saw highlights this morning… but the repeated references to “In 6 Days…” was a bit Biblical, IMO. Was he comparing his election to the Presidency, to God’s creation of the everything in 6 days????
“In 6 days you will elect me president… on the 7th day you rested..because the increased taxes caused your employer to lay you off and you don’t have a job anymore.
Actually, the infomercial is a sign of things to come.
Just as in Cuba the workers listen to the exhortations of Fidel while they work, we will listen to Obama while we work. Our compliance will be suitably monitored by the people’s (Obama’s) volunteers, and our children.
ODS? Couldn’t think of anything original?
As for “violent revolution,” please provide posts showing who is advocating that. What some of us are discussing is the possibility of riots if Senator Obama is elected or loses. Some of us are also preparing in the event that a “filibuster-free” Democrat-controlled government decides to violate the Bill of Rights. Speaking for myself, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be right here. Your “crazy liberals,” an apt description by the way, still haven’t left despite all their whining about George Bush.
The only hypocrisy I see is yours, whinerboy.
ECS
“What some of us are discussing is the possibility of riots if Senator Obama is elected or loses”
By Obamites
Crazy thought here, but it may have been just because the election is six days out. That was bound to happen once this election.
Should he have instead said “In 144 hours…”? Or “In 8,640 minutes…”?
Our slow decline continues.
Republicans are not getting out to vote.
He’ll have 270 by bedtime.
We need to get someone in the bullpen now, and no, it ain’t her.
What’s that old quote about democracy ending when people realize they can vote themselves favors? I suppose we’ve been doing that since 64 and we’re just speeding up.
You mean like Diebold voting machines being tampered with, WTC building #7 and the levees in New Orleans purposely being destroyed, US government creating AIDS to kill off minorities, etc. You mean those kind of conspiracies.
If ever a Bible verse speaks to us loud and clear!
Morning kids…
-sigh- I’ve been watching the presidential race a bit closer in the last few weeks. Should people care to remember, i’m not a supporter of either..merely a humble commentator on them!
The Obama infomercial was something i chose not to watch, but accurately predicted the content to friends. I read a review of it from a few places this morning. I think the whole thing was a 50 pound bag of horse apples, but….
If you look at this directly, and you’re seeing the commercials and the rhetoric (and at this point, how could one avoid any of it?), there is a stark difference between the candidates.
McCain and Palin are trying hard, but…alot of the message they’re getting out there is negative…or at least comes across that way. Granted, the wardrobe issue for Palin seems silly to me (I wouldnt care what she’s wearing…if she can do the job, then let her do it)…but its something they’ve played up and at this point just seems…overplayed. I have seen few positive messages from the McCain camp, but the “Obama isnt qualified” commercial is on every 20 minutes, like clockwork.
By contrast, the Obama commericials seem mostly positive. How to fix the country. How to come together. And one hundred other lies and misdirections to get your vote. Make no mistake, I think he’s a farce and a cancer this country can ill afford to have…but for the less politically saavy, and for many who just see commercials or listen to only sound bites…he comes across as being more positive and upbeat than his opponent.
I think ultimately, its that image (again, regardless of how fake it may be, or how much BS he’s throwing in there) that will swing the polls in his favor.
This political season has been one where really…its damned if you do and damned if you dont. But one of the posters earlier mentioned the fact that we couldnt blame people for falling prey to propaganda…and i think thats spot on, idea wise. Most people don’t, or won’t, spend alot of time researching this election or anything connected to it. As one of my less politically inclinded friends pointed out to be recently, “But, Obama isn’t Bush. McCain is going to be just like him, right? I mean, that’s all thats on TV!”…I rest my case. As much as I loathe saying this, people are sheep by and large. They hear something on the radio, or see a commercial, and just run with it, never taking the time to ever do any research or look up the information personally. Not much we can do with that.
And watershed…i’ve seen you on here a few times. You bore me. You’re lgm, with less coherant statements and nothing that even remotely is funny. Hell, I respect people like lgm who have the guts to come here and post, regardless, because every once in a while they say something that has entertainment value…while you do not. While i’d be askewing the notion that people here post some oddball stuff from time to time, I should refrain from pointing out places like the Huffington Post that make this look like a Sunday School bulletin. If i want to see crazy liberals…i’ll go there…and read all about how one of their people just stabbed her ex “female companion” 220 times with a phillips head screwdriver and then shot herself. Because thats where the strongest news comes from, solid and clear thinking people like the good folks at HuffPo. (/sarc off) You want rabid…well, there you go. The Onion is more reliable as a news network.
This, however, is a BLOG. People express opinions here. Crazy, messed up, insightful, intelligent, off topic…thats the wonderful and chaotic nature of a blog. You’d do well to remember that. As for losing…I don’t deny that either. But I think that Republicans are losing for a different reason. I believe its more because they’re trying to act like Democrats while wearing a different suit. I think THAT is why they are failing. I dont think everyone should be some diehard conservative…but when your party is just repackaging the same ideas as your opponents and pushing them as their own…people like me see through that, and refuse to support people who can’t at least in some general way support the same ideas as their base. People who rely on conspiracy theorist ideas as cannon fodder for their arguments are missing one crucial point, as you have…that the mess about the birth certificate and all….yeah, 99% of us stopped giving a crap about that about 2 days after it came out. But please, dont try to keep up, or talk about the actual issues…it would just confuse you.
You’re dismissed.
AB out
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
The sad thing is, you don’t even realize how snobbish and elitist that remark was. And you wonder why we don’t want to dialogue with you…!
No, I think it would have been more appropriate if he said, “In 666 hours…”
If he wins, we can begin the impeachment driver with his links to voter fraud and registration fraud.
Obama loses regardless. The left have shown us what it feels like to disrepect a person in the office of President. I feel their pain. However, we will fine tune it and won’t quit until this clown is but a bad memory. They wanted to impeach Bush. Nice try, but you fail. Oblama is an enemy of all the freedoms this country was founded on and we won’t stop. I don’t think he’s going to get elected, but if he does – it won’t be ova!
He is talking about me. What I actualy said was if he becomes a dictator, he may need to be removed. Waterspout seems to be cool with an Obama dictator.
Sonofdy – you read my mind! I didn’t see your post until after I posted mine. Hahahahahaha
start now with your own bumper sticker…hat, etc….lol
http://images.cafepress.com/product/317847711v2_150×150_Front.jpg
I was actually thinking about this on my drive to work this morning. About how I understand (though I do not agree) the notion of impeaching president Bush and the total disdain people have for this man. Obama may be the first black president of the greatest nation on earth, but he will be the first black president that has been impeached! It’s not because of what the right will do, he will do it to himself..but we will be all too happy to oblige him. It’s a shame the first black president couldn’t of had more character than this guy. I can think of a ton of African-Americans that would have served this country and it’s citizens far better than this clown.
I find it interesting that his aunt in Boston can live of the taxpayers in public housing, yet somehow find some $250 to send her little nephew Obama who’s running for president.
Win,lose or draw: get ready for the riots. Fill your gas tanks this weekend, and buy your eggs, milk and bread.
abstract, good to see you.
And I agree with your assesment of both parties.
But I’m still voting for the Republicans.
why are so many predicting unrest/riots?
there may be a media frenzy when the votes are coming in, but the One has it in the bag.
no one will riot, but supporters might have some disturbing celebrations
break – cnn asked some of His supporters what they would do if He lost, and they were so shocked at the notion they were speechless.
Didn’t watch it. Did something more useful with my time… played some video games.
Listen up. Every programs Obama speaks of.. is a lie. It’s that simple.
Oblama will lie when the truth sounds better! Those of us who have actually lived through a couple of elections in our “adult” life have seen it all before. After a couple you get a little better at judging character. Another one of Obama’s flaws – judging character, but after all, emotionally and mentally he’s still an adolescent. He’s void inside and his wife would be if not for her rage. I didn’t watch either.

Wow, more observations of my personalility, rather than taking on any points I make. Its a great way of not engaging an argument that might be unpleasant to parse. Same way the “you’re dismissed” thing is popular here.
If any of you think I get ticked off by the lack of substantive arguments here, think again! I get rather jazzed knowing that personal attacks against me are ALL YOU HAVE.
here’s my post on Acorn from the other post. I have been on the whole simply mocked for posting it. Maybe you can take it on?

BUSH DERANGEMENT SYNDROME bad.
OBAMA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME good!
Shoe’s on the other foot, Malkinites.
Do you think the local law enforcement officials are preparing for this?
Did anybody notice the family from louisville struggling to make ends meet because dad lost his job and now mom is laid off too… but going out to eat. I don’t know about you but if my husband and i BOTH lost our job we sure as heck wouldn’t be going out to eat at a barbecue resteraunt. We’d be eating beans and ramen.
Oh that Obama and his wacky infomercials. He’s not just wow… he’s ShamWow!
Jack Welch made a point this morning on Fox that those communities Obama is using examples of, such as Rhode Island to justify his tax plan are in such bad shape because they have the highest tax rate in the nation. He left that little fact out.
Actually, watershed, my attack wasnt so much personal as it was simply an observation. I read what you post, and respond. I didnt make comments about your mother, sexuality, style of dress, or any of the other 639,786,901 things I could pick on from any other direction.
In fact, my point was specifically what you discussed in your retort…the lack of coherant discussion. I was pointing that out. You come back and call it a personal attack. I believe my assessment and its accuracy speak for itself.
For the sake of being fair, I have now also read your post about ACORN.
I dont fundamentally disagree with your post, outside of the partisan nature of the text. ACORN, as you point out, is a legitimate agency charged with voter registration. That’s the truth. I also find you’re correct about the beginning of the group, and their function. Factually, I have no disagreement with these things.
Where that stop is the name calling and the demonizing of people who think this group needs to be vetted out, scrubbed from the inside out, and as much corruption as possible removed as fast as possible. The fact is, ACORN is mostly associated with the Democratic party. I would think that good people, regardless of their political affiliation, would want to get rid of dishonesty in their party, and play the game fairly. Where alot of people here, and elsewhere, get miffed is the fact that there is a great deal of apathy towards dealing with the problems ACORN has, with the exception of very few people. I cannot find (and if its out there, i’m willing to read and examine the proof) where any REALLY high profile Dem has condemned these people for fraud.
I believe, correctly, that if it was a Republican voting drive, and the level of corruption was the same as ACORN, that Dems would be demonstrating in the streets, and make the Code Pink rallies at the Marine Station look like a family picnic.
Honestly, that post you pointed out is probably the most intelligent thing you’ve said. For that, and for pointing it out to me, i’ll give credit where it’s due. I disagree with your conclusion, but i’m not going to belittle you for posting it.
And by definition, i’m also poor and a minority. But i fundamentally believe people make their own way. It shouldnt be the governments job to take care of what the private sector could, should, or would do. Do i think school lunch programs are good? Yes. Do i think that schools like those mentioned in Berkley need more money, when they are flush with cash, while poor inner city schools lose funding because its a crap neighborhood? I think Berkley, and other places of affluence, should bear more of the brunt of the costs, because they CAN.
I am a strong believer in welfare…for those who *genuinely* need it. The elderly, the sick, those who cannot work…i’m good with helping those who cannot legitimately help themselves.
But ACORN doesnt fall exempt to the law, or to those who cheat the system, anymore than Republicans. In turn, you’re demonizing my party as being callous and hateful towards the poor, when from where i’m sitting, i see it in reverse. Telling people to get off their rears and make it happen really is the epitome of “Government doesnt have all the solutions”…right?
But…doing this isnt helping your case either, watershed. Just saying.
Yes. From what I understand. Local law enforcement will be so outnumbered that all they will be able to do is cordon off and contain the areas that’ll be affected (if they can) and call in the national gaurd.
Sound like Rhode Island is controlled by Democrats doesn’t it? If so, also a fact guaranteed to be left out.
I miss the good old days when posters like abstract and aloha were the rule rather than the exception around here.
The “passive” Republican Campaign strategy must be the use of code words like “proof of residency” to disenfranchise potential voters, right?
How are voter ID laws an act of voter suppression?
Do you have an example of engendering cynicism about the democratic process, or is it just a universal known because you declare it so? Poll tax maybe? Oh, no, that was the Democrats.
Epic Fail!
Rhode Island should not be used as an example of anything. Ever.
It is the New Jersey of New England.

Me too – I didn’t see the infomercial because I was at work, but the late night newscast provided the little nugget about the gov being in it.
I have never been so frightened by a political candidate in all of my 54 years. I used to be a Leftist who read and listened to Saul Alinsky, Michael Harrington, and other socialistsn and Marxists. But after giving up the dangerous silliness of utopianism, I am now confronted with the possibility of a President Obama who will destroy this country from the ground up. I am a Born-Again American and I am overwhelmingly pained to watch this catastrophe take place. May G_d protect us from this idol, the false Messiah.
Chap – what about Michigan?
