you do need to acknowledge that becoming a Harvard prof is evidence of serious smarts (which was the original issue).

They are not hired because of their "smarts" but rather because of their political leanings and writings; will they fit in and sell the party line.

you do need to acknowledge that becoming a Harvard prof is evidence of serious smarts (which was the original issue).

Sorry, lgm. No sale. The elite universities have been taken over by the Vast Left-Wing Communist Conspiracy, and once Barack Hussein Obama became Bill Ayers' "Chosen One", Bill made sure Barack got accepted to Harvard. (And it appears Bill Ayers also ghost wrote "Obama's" book).

Where are Obama's Harvard transcripts to show just how smart he was?

Also, I believe Kerry and the men who served with him rather than Republican paid Swiftboaters who did not.

lgm, you can fact-check the men who served with Kerry at this web-site:
http://www.swiftvets.com/index.php?topic=SwiftPhoto#
There you will find a photograph with a caption stating, "This photograph of John Kerry and 19 other Coastal Division 11 Swift boat officers was taken at Ton Son Nhut Air Base on January 22, 1969, immediately following a meeting with General Abrams and Admiral Zumwalt."

The caption continues, "The Kerry campaign featured the photograph in an advertisement released in May titled Lifetime. Swift Vets and POWs for Truth has contacted surviving members of this group to find out how many actually support John Kerry, and discovered that of 19 Swift boat skippers pictured other than Kerry, 12 consider him unfit, 2 are neutral, two have died, and 3 now support Kerry. Four other officers were not present for the photo session; 3 oppose Kerry and one is neutral."

It concludes with, "On June 1, 2004, Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (then named Swift Boat Veterans for Truth) sent a cease and desist letter to John Kerry for President, Inc. on behalf of 11 officers shown in the photograph, pointing out that using their images in a campaign advertisement 'wrongfully and incorrectly suggests their present endorsement of his candidacy.'"

So, lgm, you choose to believe 3 men who served with Kerry rather than 15 who also served with him unfit? Of course, in a liberal's mind 3 votes beats 12 because the 3 are righteous and the 15 are not -- plus you get the dead men's votes!

Might I remind you these are men who, like any of us who served in the armed forces, took an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Care to think which camp most of us believe Kerry, BHO, Reid, Pelosi, et al belong in?

BTW, can you prove the 12 were in the pay of Republicans or is this something you read on Huffington?

In regards to the lists of cities that haven't faired well under black leadership, others in my state of Georgia come to mind, Macon, Milledgville (while under Griffin), and Sparta. Now certainly, I believe that there are cities and towns under black leadership that do well; they don't make the news because they are doing a good job and aren't screwing things up so bad as to garner negative attention.

I think a black candidate running for office, or who has been elected to office that has an agenda to "get back" at whites or non-blacks for some perceived or real discrimination or oppression that he/she may or may not have experienced will be prone to making bad governance decisions. There are many white or nor-black office holders that are ineffectual as well, but it is highly unlikely that they are motivated by a grudge against another race they deem oppresive. And as socialism is the ideology of making everyone equal (homogenity, not the diversity that is championed), blacks, having experienced inequalities are more likly to initiate socialist policies. And since socialist policies are an attempt to reach an Ideal Human Society, instead of adhering to human natural behaivors of competition and meritocracy, they fail.

Judgment of character is still the issue when voting for any candidate. Yet, some candidates' characters are related to their race. Because of their race they experienced inequalities. Is it then in their character to exact some sort of revenge on another race? This is a legitimate question. The candidate that does is not seeking to heal past societal wrongs through forgiveness, but seeks to exerbate those wounds so that they cannot heal.
Has Senator Obama himself expressioned an desire to "get back" at whites, or wealthy whites in particular in the pages of his books? If so, is this desire a quality of leadership that people want? If people do what this, then who are these people? Are they people that have something to gain from such leadership?

We are differnt. We have different histories, different ethnicities, different cultures. We should be allowed to make observations and comments on these differencies free from the assumption that we do so because we fear or hate those we observe and make comment. We are free to point out similarities without reprisal.
