Senate Democrats play Home and Garden

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 30, 2008 01:34 PM

From a Hill source, here’s an e-mail from a Senate Democrat interior decorator who’s already measuring the drapes and gathering office design suggestions. Your tax dollars at work:

From: Rainey, Judy (Lautenberg)

Subject: Accessorizing your office

All,

I am collecting ideas on different (and inexpensive) ways to accessorize your office with pictures, photos, plants, etc. Here are some ideas that I’ve heard of, but if you have any other ideas, please email them to me and I’ll add them to the list. Also, as you can see from the list, I am missing some information. If you can fill in the blanks, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Judy

1. Get the Photo Studio ((SD-G85? Has this been moved to the CVC?) – 224-6000 – https://photoweb.senate.gov/photologin/Default.asp) to print some of your digital pictures and have them framed at the Frame Shop (SD-G82 – 224-0602).

2. Botanic Gardens (226-4786 or 225-8333) will supply plants to your office.

Information at http://senate.aoc.gov/Senate-Services/Programs/USBG-Foliage-Plant-Program.cfm

3. The Library of Congress has on-line images (will print off or download for free?) of Senators, courthouses, etc., that can be framed at the Frame Shop.

4. National Gallery will loan some copies of art to your office. (Contact name and phone number?)

5. The Department of the Navy (and Army, etc.?) will loan items to your office. Congressional Liaison offices:

a. Army – SR-183 – 224-2881
b. Navy – SR-182 – 224-4682
c. Air Force – SR-182 – 224-2481

6. Copies of maps from the Library of Congress Geography & Map Division? 227-MAPS

So they don’t have a clue about fixing the economy, but they’re all about redecorating? Your Democrat party folks.

Maybe they can take some redecorating tips from The Obamassiah’s favorite “outstanding” mayor

Upon entering the foyer of 9240 Dwight, on the city’s east side, one is treated to a checkerboard tiled floor with a large crack running down its center. To the right is a padded ladies’ powder room highlighted by silver buttons. To the left is the formal living room with a carved granite mantel, a baby grand piano, candy-striped sconces and garish pink drapes with a pediment of buttoned red leather.

    I don’t wonder… I live here.

Because of the CD boundary changes way back when, the current Dem/Rep split in NJ congressional reps is not likely to change much. Take the 12th CD.. Rush Holt.. very liberal that pretends to be moderate is likely going to beat the conservative candidate Bateman because much of what used to be the 12th CD.. MOnmouth County… very Red.. now includes a huge swatch of Trenton and much of Monmouth was removed, negating the republican bases vote.

As far as US Senators go, the state is controlled by the populations in Camden, Trenton, Patterson, Newark and Jersey City. Those areas control statewide elections. It would take nearly unanimous conservative votes in the remaining areas to out pace the urban areas.

They say NJ has a large number of independents… but those independents are mostly Dems in denial. Libs that just don’t like the Dem label.

This is standard operating procedure for all congressional offices. The GSA also provides furniture for congressional offices.

It is silly, but these guys get exercised when a senior member leaves office, because not only does their prime real estate (office with the best veiw and conveniences) is to be re-awarded (sometimes by seniority – sometimes by lot) but so does their government provided furnishings.

    This happens every cycle.

Yep, and those congressional leaders also get additional pay, starting with standing committee chairs, to Whips, to the Speaker.

This is nothing to become unhinged over.

I’m think these thieves should be required to live in dorms and be supplied with small generic office space with limited budget for staff and be required to be under CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE the entire time they are in office(includes all accounts and family members). Limit campaign contributions to $25 per person only in the year prior to an election they actually run and all funds must be spent or donated to a real charity, not political. No corporate donations at all. Any violation of the rules would result in manditory jail term and loss of all Govt benefits including pension. Manditory Jail term for any persons assisting in circumventing rules(especially Lawyers! No attorney client privledge here at all!)

Maybe then we might get some honest people running for office. Of course it would take an amendment to the constitution to do it. You can’t use laws on these jerks. They are too good at manipulating the language to make it totally meaningless and exmept themselves.

I know but I can fantasize can’t I? I just don’t see any other way to stop the corruption and get people in office that can get positive things done for THE COUNTRY.
