Fausta’s Blog spotted the perfect fashion accessory for Obamacorn canvassers — on display at The Gap:

Gap’s garbly response?
Here you go:
Dear gap.com Customer,
Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding Gap’s current “Vote for
___.” campaign.Gap has always stood for self-expression and individuality, and with one of the nation’s most important elections on the horizon, we’ve launched a program that encourages people to express their opinions and ideas. The Limited Edition Vote Buttons were designed by ten renowned artists, and the “VOTE TWICE!” button was designed by John Waters. Also, a portion of the proceeds from every button sold will go to “Declare Yourself”.
We value each of our employees’ and our customers’ unique ideas and opinions. It is not our intention to offend anyone in any way.
Thank you again for contacting us.
Sincerely,
Shelly

Ah, John Waters. Well, that explains everything.

Ha. Oops. I meant “gravity” but the antonym came out because I was thinking that it’s become levity (ala Mickey Mouse) when it shouldn’t.
Thanks.
I went to Gap last week and both employees were wearing “Vote for Obama” shirts. I was furious and e-mailed their corporate headquarters and got a very similar e-mail response. It also said they encouraged freedom of expression in their employees. I wonder if they realize that Obama is polling at about 40% here in Ky. That leaves a lot of people with the freedom to express their $$ someplace else.
Dear Shelly:
The Gap has “launched a program that encourages people to express their opinions and ideas”?
Are you a clothing store, or a political focus group? Because I thought you were a clothing store.
Oh, I forgot, your sales and overall profitability have been on a steep decline for several years now, with no end in sight. So maybe you see the brilliant John Waters-inspired handwriting on the wall.
But keep up with the focus group stuff. There may be a future in it for you. Given the Gap’s current stock price, I suggest you jump ship soon.
Yours truly,
Someone who used to shop at the Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. But won’t anymore. Ever.
Watershed is one of those people who in Germany 65 years ago and looked at the smoke coming from the camp West of the town and said, “Smell, I don’t smell anything?”
Because of this disgusting button I sent The Gap an e-mail informing them that…
1) I will never shop there again and
2) I will find out there closest competitor and only shop there from now on.
We’ll see what they if the reply at all. I also told them that someone should be fired over this.
I’m sure I’m probably in the minority here when I say that I find Waters to be an absolute genius.
His books Shock Value and Crackpot are hilarious and his film Female Trouble remains one of my all time favorites.
Exactly.
He skewers both liberals and conservatives equally.
Ignore the trolls.
Calm yourselves,
Obama will soon join Kerry and Gore in oblivion.
Our true nightmare of hillary is over.
Happy Halloween.
PS. Anybody ever see those little boxes of Good n’ Fruity anymore? They have Mike n’ Ike but they’re not quite as good. Hot Tamales not bad either.
Old Navy is owned by the Gap,
another place I will not
be dropping the $$$$$.
I won’t shop there anymore.
