E-mail from a first-time voter

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 3, 2008 11:48 AM

The fleecing of America

Reader M.S. from Seattle e-mailed me her thoughts on the election. She’s a naturalized American and first-time voter:

Dear Michelle,

I came to this country in 1959 from Sweden when I was 14 years old. I married at 19 and my husband and I have raised 4 daughters. The youngest one now 26. I finally got up the courage to take the citizens test 3 years ago, and to my amazement it was the easiest test I could imagine, way too easy. This is the first presidential election I will get to vote in. I came from a socialist country, albeit raised into the light. It is a far cry from the perfect image described so often! Their health care system should be the first to be examined as it would discourage most intelligent voters. I live in Seattle, Washington, where the Canadian government sends some of their citizens for health care because they cannot provide for their own citizens. Where do you suppose this country is going to send its citizens? Mexico, Venezuela, Honduras? No, our citizens will be entered into a “most profitable to save” category. It exists in every socialized health care system in the world. This issue alone is enough to send a chill down my spine.

Add that to what is happening with the media around Obama and I’m wondering what country I live in! What will happen to you and others out there who promote the open truth if Obama wins? Time will tell and something tells me I’ve lived in the best of times in the USA already and the worst [will] be coming soon?

The best political cartoon, and perhaps the only good one I have seen so far is one of Obama leading a flock of sheep to the “Fleecing” factory and one sheep saying to another, “Well, it’s a change!”

How do you plan to “spread the word” about the Newt/Jindal ticket or the Palin/Jindal ticket. Obama has already shown how they silence detractors. The Fairness doctrine will be the first to be enacted and will swallow up the blogosphere too with restrictions and obstacles. Only speech acceptable to “The One” will be allowed. All others will be silenced; discredited; or financially ruined.

Think not. I used to think a lot of things that have gone on during this election cycle wouldn’t have been tolerated. The Obama machine coupled with the MSM has shown that not to be true.

On the contrary, I think it’s quite understandable…the trolls have a diametrically opposite worldview.
They want our country, as it is now, hurt.

They want to change it into something so different from what it is now, that it would be unrecognizable.

During my military career, I was privledged to serve with many people who were not yet citizens. While I do not like to seperate one group from another, for this one time I will call out a singular group.

It was astonishing and often humbling to to serve along side many Cuban-Americans. Of all the individuals I had the opportunity to meet, this group continually stood out.

For they and their families had suffered tremendously under Castro and the communists. This group singurarily was the most pro-American, pro-capitalist, pro-freedom. pro-liberty group of individuals, time after time.

They had seen first hand the horrors of communism and redistribution. For they were the ones who had their properties redistributed. They had their family-members locked up for non-conformism. They knew the ugly side of marxism.

And they had a love of this country that is undeniable.

    They love America.

    They love freedom

    They understand liberty.

I do not like to leave out anyone who shares these ideals, but was thinking of many of my friends this morning as I reflected upon how we came to this point.

I learned much from these same people.

    We all could.

Liberals go hysterical claiming conservatives don’t care about the poor. The irony is that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals. We see it all the time with political income disclosures. Think back to Gore’s paltry charitable contributions. Most people here probably donated more to charity that millionaire Gore.

Liberals want socialism because they want someone other than themselves to provide for the poor. Not only that… they hope to get a piece of that pie themselves.

I lived in Sweden and experienced their health care system first hand, twice. If you have an accident, you receive immediate attention. If you have an illness, it takes months before you get the attention you need.

America has a health care system in place where no person is left behind regardless of ability to pay. Hospitals alike operate under mandates that protect individuals from being turned away. Health care is blind. Everyone is seen. Everyone is treated without regard to legal citizenship status. Interpretation services are provided to those that do not or choose not to speak English.

Everyone is treated with respect and dignity at all times. That is what makes our health care system so fantastic, at all levels of health care. We have private clinics and we have public clinics. We have non-profit and for profit clinics. If you seek the care you need, most likely, you will find it. In fact, you have a choice.

That is what makes America the most sought after place for people around the world, even from socialized health care countries, to receive top of the line health care and rehabilitation services.

Socialist health care decides who and when an individual will be seen. The individual looses the choice, promoting apathy. Apathy stagnates the ability to see beyond tomorrow.

America’s capitalistic freedoms are worth fighting for at all costs. Our liberty is what is what gives every individual the ability to think, feel, and act to promote ourselves to highest sense of achievement imaginable.

Socialism takes away your freedom of choice. It declares that the government knows better than you do about your health, your education, your income, YOUR LIFE!

There is no other country like America.
I believe America is worth fighting for at all costs!
I am a nurse and I approve this message!

Voter ID, standards for registration, verification of eligibility, tighter controls on donations (no more credit card fraud or chinese dishwashers donating the individual maximum). We also need to unify the primaries to a single day, so the crossover voters won’t be able to choose the other party’s candidate

It doesn’t need the Democrat Carter-Obama-Clinton failed socialist remake.

What it needs is prosecution of Medicare fraud, protection of doctors from frivolous lawsuits and continued incentives for ingenuity so it continues to break new ground and be the world’s leading model for healthcare.

    Agreed.

Socialists/statists profess to love humanity in general, while they treat individual persons like c**p.

Their attitude is similar to a Charles Dickens character in “Bleak House” I’ve read about (I have not read the book itself, yet…but, I will) named Mrs. Jellyby, who practiced “philanthropy at a distance” -

She (was) “is a lady of very remarkable strength of character who devotes herself entirely to the public. She has devoted herself to an extensive variety of public subjects at various times and is at present (until something else attracts her) devoted to the subject of Africa, with a view to the general cultivation of the coffee berry….”

And, from what I’ve read about the character, she herself couldn’t get things right with her screwed-up family.

Reminds me of someone who lived in the town where we did for 20+ years…not infrequently, one would see her on the town common/green holding a protest sign with on the idea of, “WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER”, OR “NOT IN OUR NAME”, or “NO MONEY FOR HALLIBURTON” or whatever…while her own house/family was not in the best of order.

*sigh*…I guess it always has been, and always will be so.

That statement, and its implication that America is not currently acting as “part of the world community for the benefit of everyone”, is completely divorced from observable reality.

Since Bush took office we’ve freed 50 million people from cruel dictatorships. Very few of them were Christians and fewer still were caucasian.

We bankroll the UN, an organization that squats on some of the most valuable real estate on the planet and seems to exist solely for purposes of graft, corruption and calling us names.

When tragedy strikes anywhere, anywhere, we’re the first to help. We spend money to feed, clothe and rebuild the homes of people who want to kill us.

Our military stands guard over Europe, making possible their little socialist paradises. Our Navy keeps the sea lanes open, without which international trade would grind to a halt.

That’s just off the top of my head, and doesn’t even include the untold millions of dollars donated by private citizens to help any number of overseas charities.

So you can take your notion that America is a selfish, go-it-alone nation that will only change when the Annointed One changes us and you can blow it out your (expletive deleted).

For a year now the media has been proclaiming the inevitability of Obama’s coronation. The media has created an atmosphere where, if Obama should lose, his cult will immediately assume that the election has been “stolen”. I don’t think a prediction of riots is far fetched.

As for the rest of the planet being for Obama, that’s also not true. In fact if elected Obama will probably be the most internationally disrespected US official since Madeline Albright, whom the world saw as a senile old cleaning lady. John Howard, PM of Australia, has already blasted Obama for his stupid, shortsighted plans for Iraq.

And so what about the rest of the world? They’re not allowed to vote here. They don’t get the full story, the lies, the back stabbing, the bus tires caked with relatives who are no longer useful to him. All they get is what CNN spins and spoon feeds them.

They also see what you refuse to see – an opportunity. Obama has recently announced that he has unilaterally decided to destroy the electrical power creating capacity of this country. He fully intends to bankrupt 50% of the power production in this country thereby destroying Mankinds last best hope for world peace.
