E-mail from a first-time voter

The fleecing of America
Reader M.S. from Seattle e-mailed me her thoughts on the election. She’s a naturalized American and first-time voter:
Dear Michelle,
I came to this country in 1959 from Sweden when I was 14 years old. I married at 19 and my husband and I have raised 4 daughters. The youngest one now 26. I finally got up the courage to take the citizens test 3 years ago, and to my amazement it was the easiest test I could imagine, way too easy. This is the first presidential election I will get to vote in. I came from a socialist country, albeit raised into the light. It is a far cry from the perfect image described so often! Their health care system should be the first to be examined as it would discourage most intelligent voters. I live in Seattle, Washington, where the Canadian government sends some of their citizens for health care because they cannot provide for their own citizens. Where do you suppose this country is going to send its citizens? Mexico, Venezuela, Honduras? No, our citizens will be entered into a “most profitable to save” category. It exists in every socialized health care system in the world. This issue alone is enough to send a chill down my spine.
Add that to what is happening with the media around Obama and I’m wondering what country I live in! What will happen to you and others out there who promote the open truth if Obama wins? Time will tell and something tells me I’ve lived in the best of times in the USA already and the worst [will] be coming soon?
The best political cartoon, and perhaps the only good one I have seen so far is one of Obama leading a flock of sheep to the “Fleecing” factory and one sheep saying to another, “Well, it’s a change!”
See what others have said

Well, I think we can guess who she’s voting for. On the same note, my sister-in-law became a naturalized citizen last year. She’s from Colombia. She’ll also be voting McCain.
M.S. do not despair. We will win. And once we have this election behind us – patriots everywhere must ensure that corruption and fraud by Dems never place this Republic in jeopardy ever again.
Glad to have you, M.S. Welcome to the fight! This fight has been going on all my life and intensifying with each election cycle.
I too worry that the best of times are behind us. But chin up, and fight. Never surrender!
Change.
You’ll be lucky to have any left in your pocket after the Dems seize all power.
Given the political winds, it’s astounding McCain is so close to Obama. Obama should be 25 points ahead, not 5.
Just can’t wait until Wed. then I can start on 2012. Newt/Jindal 2012
M.S., glad to have you as a fellow citizen.
People like her and Tito the Builder can see exactly what path this country is taking and they don’t like it.
Since the U.N. is so enthusiastically cheering for Obama, I guess they see what path we’re taking too. They can hardly wait for the new U.S.A. to join them in bashing the old United States of America and bringing us into the “fold” of the global, community of nations. Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
M.S wtg! say hi to my sis for me in Seattle!
nice message.
Glad to have you on board, M.S.
Obama’s constituency
Zombie Democrats
Its funny how the trolls dont see how this country will be hurt by socialism..Some people really need to open there eyes and the trolls know who they are…
John Ansell:
How do you plan to “spread the word” about the Newt/Jindal ticket or the Palin/Jindal ticket. Obama has already shown how they silence detractors. The Fairness doctrine will be the first to be enacted and will swallow up the blogosphere too with restrictions and obstacles. Only speech acceptable to “The One” will be allowed. All others will be silenced; discredited; or financially ruined.
Think not. I used to think a lot of things that have gone on during this election cycle wouldn’t have been tolerated. The Obama machine coupled with the MSM has shown that not to be true.
we were toast and didn’t even know it.
Don’t forget Cuba! Just ask Michael Moore!
On the contrary, I think it’s quite understandable…the trolls have a diametrically opposite worldview.
They want our country, as it is now, hurt.
They want to change it into something so different from what it is now, that it would be unrecognizable.
There is no middle ground with them, any more than there is middle ground with a hungry, dangerous wild animal.
We should conduct a little poll of our own.
Question: Which of you trolls who comment on this site, are naturalized citizens?
I am really curious to know.
Do you feel like the frog in a pot of water on the stove and the heat is slowly being turned up?

I think most of the trolls here know already. But they expect to be members of the thugocracy when it is installed, so they don’t care.
Everyone in the bureaucracies in Cuba, China, etc., know exactly how evil it is… but they have “theirs” so everyone else be damned!
People who want a free ride are voting for Obama.
These are the people that detest authority, responsibility and work ethic.
Enjoy the walk to the Fleecing Mill Sheeple. (Sheep + People = Sheeple)
The rest of us will continue to fight for truth and justice.
I like that ticket! I love Sarah Palin, but I fear she is too polarizing and too easy for the left to make fun of! A shame, really, but true. I also like Michael Steele…A LOT!
absolutely true. if obama wins, the USA becomes the USSA (united socialist states of ameriKKKa)
We have all seen a glimpse of ‘free health care”. It happens every time a gasoline station has a ‘free gasoline’ promotion.
The news copter hovers overhead, showing the long lines of hopeful motorists waiting for hours for their freebie only to be disappointed when the station runs out of it’s supply.
The ‘hope’ they had for something free proved truly fleeting.
I don’t think Newt wants to run although that is a ticket I could get behind…..except that I don’t want Jindal to leave LA.
Exactly!
The socialists/statists have been employing “salami tactics” for decades.
God Bless you M.S. and welcome.
During my military career, I was privledged to serve with many people who were not yet citizens. While I do not like to seperate one group from another, for this one time I will call out a singular group.
It was astonishing and often humbling to to serve along side many Cuban-Americans. Of all the individuals I had the opportunity to meet, this group continually stood out.
For they and their families had suffered tremendously under Castro and the communists. This group singurarily was the most pro-American, pro-capitalist, pro-freedom. pro-liberty group of individuals, time after time.
They had seen first hand the horrors of communism and redistribution. For they were the ones who had their properties redistributed. They had their family-members locked up for non-conformism. They knew the ugly side of marxism.
And they had a love of this country that is undeniable.
They love America.
They love freedom
They understand liberty.
I do not like to leave out anyone who shares these ideals, but was thinking of many of my friends this morning as I reflected upon how we came to this point.
I learned much from these same people.
We all could.
Happy,
I was just looking at a Washingtonpost.com chat and the national political reporter there said he heard a rumor that Jindal will be attending a political fundraiser in Iowa NEXT WEEK.

Newt’s got issues on pandering to stupidity (environment, etc.). He can talk a good game but has too much of the “baby boomer need to be loved.”
As for Jindal, I’m selfish and want him to stay too, but would give him up for the good of the country…
Ditto.
There is a feature on Yahoo News called the Political Dashboard. It gives a state by state breakdown and compilation of the most recent presidential polls. Over the past week, Obama’s lead on this dashboard has been steadily shrinking. A handful of states have actually been switched from Obama to McCain. There’s still hope, people! The sensible ones are finally realizing that they are about to put a frosh senator in charge of the world’s fastest-moving economy at a very difficult time.
#16 well put granite, you hit it right on the head….Socialism will destroy this great country how sad..
I know Filmladd, but we really do need him here. I didn’t realize you were a fellow cajun. COOL
A frosh senator who has spent, it seems, at least half his time as a senator running for the Presidency…and then, who has the arrogance to claim that his time running for the Presidency is experience…however that is defined.
My 30 yo daughter has an old friend (I’ve known this kid since they were in grade school) that says he is voting for OB “because he wants to help the poor”. After telling him he was being an idiot, I explained to him that we have churches and other charitable organizations to help the poor, voluntarily.
After explaining the basis of socialism (he’s a product of the public school system) and the associated thinking of Obama, Ayers, Wright et al. he decided to change his mind.
The idiot will probably still vote (if he bothers voting at all) for Obama just to spite me.
I’m telling you they are brainwashed.
Let my add my welcome and appreciation for reader M.S.; it’s a pleasure to have you. M.S., you’re nowhere near alone: my barber has a very similar point of view, and a story of her own to tell:
The Wisdom of a Barber
No one receiving public assistance should be allowed to vote.
…with other people’s money, naturally.
I voted last week. Now, I pray with each breath I take… “God, save this country.”
I have a question.
A couple of weeks or so ago, Obama stated that Hannity and Foxnews had cost him 3 points in the polls.
My question is, how many points has it cost John McCain in the polls because of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, and all the other sites that are in the tank for Obama?
My wife will be taking her citzenship exam late in 2009 (if something like that is even required anymore.) I’m happy to say in the 5 years I have known her I have helped changed her politics 180 degrees and she will be voting against the Socialists starting in 2010 (if something like that is even allowed anymore.) I believe liberals refer to people like her as self-loathing, race traitors that wish they were white. (Just like M. Malkin)
You know who else supports McCain? Al Queda that’s who – they know that he’s a dumb man and continue to ruin America like Bush.
The rest of the planet supports Obama.
So here’s the question: why would Al Queda and the bigots in this country support the same man for President?
RESIST…RESIST …..Don’t feed the troll.
I believe the support for McCain runs about 75% in Isreal (i.e. Jews that could be facing more danger than a tax increase if Obama wins.)
definition of a “circular argument”?
Depressing….
good point, nlebou.
Al Qaeda doesn’t support McCain. They knew that if they committed a terrorist act right before the election, it would push the country toward McCain. They figure if they publicly support McCain verbally, it will push people toward their preferred candidate, Obama.
The fact that all the socialists, communists, and terrorists support Obama should give one pause.
Oops. Sorry.
What a coincidence! Kerry had an 11-point lead in the polls over Bush @ this time in 2004.
Considering the extremely one-sided coverage in the MSM, the fact that Obama genuinely believes he’s being persucted or unfairly treated in some way speaks loudly to his obvious hubris and narcissism.
#51 – should be “persecuted”
SoCal: the only poll that counts is the one being taken tomorrow. As for the polls, I’ve linked to two good reads here:
Inside the Obama Campaign – Secrets Revealed
So don’t be so depressed. Vote, and encourage your friends to do likewise.
As for the troll, a just slightly looser interpretation of the Truth in Advertising laws would require he change his screen nick.
#42
Much as you would think the idea of the “rest of the planet” would be a factor in any of the Malkinites decision process, it is not. Xenophobia abounds here.
Obama, thank goodness, belives that a super power can “deign” to be a part of the world community for the benefit of everyone.
Liberals go hysterical claiming conservatives don’t care about the poor. The irony is that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals. We see it all the time with political income disclosures. Think back to Gore’s paltry charitable contributions. Most people here probably donated more to charity that millionaire Gore.
Liberals want socialism because they want someone other than themselves to provide for the poor. Not only that… they hope to get a piece of that pie themselves.
And as for “the rest of the planet” wanting Obama?
THEY CAN HAVE HIM. They’re welcome to take him off our hands.
RESIST…..RESIST
IgNoRe tHe tRoLl
Liberals don’t support charities because they give money to where it is needed without giving the government additional power.
Explain exactly what this means.
If Obama loses tomorrow it’s hard to imagine how any Democrat can ever win the White House again. Short of McCain being photographed wearing a swastika I don’t see how conditions could possibly get more favorable for the Lightworker.
Remember Biden’s $386 out of a $2.5 million income? The Obamas aren’t much better. Just ask his brother-in-law, and the Obama schoolchildren in Kenya. I think Aunti could use a little help, too. Maybe Obama will refund her political contributions–that would be a start.
This thing about Canada sending its citizens here in the US for help bugs men, not because Canada does it, but because Republicans don’t stress this. This is why they’re losing seats in the house and senate.
A phobia is an unreasonable fear. On the other hand, when it comes to leftist ideology, a healthy distrust and disgust is not only normal, but warranted.
I think they should show their support for McCain. Invite the press, have a BIG rally. Have fighters and leaders come from far and wide. Show your support. Shoot your weapons into the air.
Now everyone close in together. We need to get everyone situated for the group shot.
There, perfect, now look up and smile at the orbiting AC-130.
Arg umpf grumble lemmee at ‘im! Ack! Argh!
I lived in Sweden and experienced their health care system first hand, twice. If you have an accident, you receive immediate attention. If you have an illness, it takes months before you get the attention you need.
America has a health care system in place where no person is left behind regardless of ability to pay. Hospitals alike operate under mandates that protect individuals from being turned away. Health care is blind. Everyone is seen. Everyone is treated without regard to legal citizenship status. Interpretation services are provided to those that do not or choose not to speak English.
Everyone is treated with respect and dignity at all times. That is what makes our health care system so fantastic, at all levels of health care. We have private clinics and we have public clinics. We have non-profit and for profit clinics. If you seek the care you need, most likely, you will find it. In fact, you have a choice.
That is what makes America the most sought after place for people around the world, even from socialized health care countries, to receive top of the line health care and rehabilitation services.
Socialist health care decides who and when an individual will be seen. The individual looses the choice, promoting apathy. Apathy stagnates the ability to see beyond tomorrow.
America’s capitalistic freedoms are worth fighting for at all costs. Our liberty is what is what gives every individual the ability to think, feel, and act to promote ourselves to highest sense of achievement imaginable.
Socialism takes away your freedom of choice. It declares that the government knows better than you do about your health, your education, your income, YOUR LIFE!
There is no other country like America.
I believe America is worth fighting for at all costs!
I am a nurse and I approve this message!
I love this quote by Mike Carey, president of the Ohio Coal Association.
You mean the troll who runs away whenever he’s asked a substative question? Agreed, a waste of key strokes. Not a problem.
Yes, Film it is really hard isn’t it?
The issue of campaign reform needs to be number one on the agenda. Voter ID, standards for registration, verification of eligibility, tighter controls on donations (no more credit card fraud or chinese dishwashers donating the individual maximum). We also need to unify the primaries to a single day, so the crossover voters won’t be able to choose the other party’s candidate
Welcome M.S. I live an hour south of you.It truly is frightening that people have become so entranced by this man that is nothing more than the Great OZ behind the curtain doing smoke & mirrors. I was listening to Glenn Beck and he had a quote playing from some former secretary of state talking about how they won’t fight us to get socialism in here it will trickle in little by little and before you know it you’ll be a full force socialistic country.God help us all.
Happy….. THAT is an excellent overview of why the healthcare in this country, while not perfect, is the best in the world. Period.
It doesn’t need the Democrat Carter-Obama-Clinton failed socialist remake.
What it needs is prosecution of Medicare fraud, protection of doctors from frivolous lawsuits and continued incentives for ingenuity so it continues to break new ground and be the world’s leading model for healthcare.
Agreed.
Socialists/statists profess to love humanity in general, while they treat individual persons like c**p.
Their attitude is similar to a Charles Dickens character in “Bleak House” I’ve read about (I have not read the book itself, yet…but, I will) named Mrs. Jellyby, who practiced “philanthropy at a distance” -
She (was) “is a lady of very remarkable strength of character who devotes herself entirely to the public. She has devoted herself to an extensive variety of public subjects at various times and is at present (until something else attracts her) devoted to the subject of Africa, with a view to the general cultivation of the coffee berry….”
And, from what I’ve read about the character, she herself couldn’t get things right with her screwed-up family.
Reminds me of someone who lived in the town where we did for 20+ years…not infrequently, one would see her on the town common/green holding a protest sign with on the idea of, “WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER”, OR “NOT IN OUR NAME”, or “NO MONEY FOR HALLIBURTON” or whatever…while her own house/family was not in the best of order.
*sigh*…I guess it always has been, and always will be so.
That statement, and its implication that America is not currently acting as “part of the world community for the benefit of everyone”, is completely divorced from observable reality.
Since Bush took office we’ve freed 50 million people from cruel dictatorships. Very few of them were Christians and fewer still were caucasian.
We bankroll the UN, an organization that squats on some of the most valuable real estate on the planet and seems to exist solely for purposes of graft, corruption and calling us names.
When tragedy strikes anywhere, anywhere, we’re the first to help. We spend money to feed, clothe and rebuild the homes of people who want to kill us.
Our military stands guard over Europe, making possible their little socialist paradises. Our Navy keeps the sea lanes open, without which international trade would grind to a halt.
That’s just off the top of my head, and doesn’t even include the untold millions of dollars donated by private citizens to help any number of overseas charities.
So you can take your notion that America is a selfish, go-it-alone nation that will only change when the Annointed One changes us and you can blow it out your (expletive deleted).
DO NOT buy into these media-sponsored phony polls. I saw one yesterday from ABCNews, and they did not reveal (even in the downloaded data PDF file) the percentage of political party affiliation.
Now, what are they trying to hide? Most of these media polls are heavily democrat majority polled.
Here’s what’s really depressing: what will be the reaction if McCain wins?
For a year now the media has been proclaiming the inevitability of Obama’s coronation. The media has created an atmosphere where, if Obama should lose, his cult will immediately assume that the election has been “stolen”. I don’t think a prediction of riots is far fetched.
The only Change you can believe in with The One.
And these veiled or not-so-veiled predictions of riots
ifwhen BHO loses are different from threats and extortion,…exactly how?Watershed agrees with Ilovemycountry that “The rest of the planet supports Obama.”
Since your posts are mostly buffoonish, I’ll reply to you and the planet through two cartoons.
M.S., do not give up hope
I look a the electoral map, and I see Obama losing a lot of states that the Sheeple Media have him leading in.
It’s entirely possible that McCain will win PA. It’s over for Obama if that happens.
Without PA, it could come down to Maine’s 2nd CD since Obama may lose Colorado.
If they can’t call PA early for Obama, things will be looks pretty good for McCain.
We;ll see…
Me either. The hate from the left is just to extreme to let this go.
Well, for that matter how are most things Obama does different from extortion?
My state is locked into Obama all the way. I’d write-in Newt’s name tomorrow if I thought it meant anything other than the purely symbolic.
True.
After all, when the State, backed by the power of the gun, can take whatever and however much it decides to (”legislation”, for short); that is, in effect, extortion.
A vote for Obama rewards the MSM for its biased coverage; rewards ACORN for its tactics, rewards backgound checks for ordinary citizens like Joe; rewards candidates for having relationships with sleezy people; rewards hate as long as it is directed at the opponent; rewards cheating, lying and other immoral and unethical behavior; rewards people who don’t do their fair share for themselves or others, while punnishing others for working hard and living within their means.
Don’t believe the polls, since they don’t tell the full picture.
Obama won already.
The difference between us and those who came from Socialist countries, and our eventual hybrid of democracy is that they did not have an economy built on capitalism. We already have the infrastructure, whereas they did not and on the off chance they did, it was blown up and firebombed. Also, Obama’s plan only mandates children have health insurance and who could disagree with that.
Wow talk about appropriate Temper.
http://standupformccain.com/2008/10/damn-i-love-this-guy.html
Obama Who?
Thanks I loved that.
Man where is that guy today?
I’m not believing any of these polls. They’re not “nuanced” enough.
I WILL NOT FEE THE ^#$&*&R%^%$^ TROLLS
MS. We have a large first generation Russian population in northern Idaho. They to will be vetoing for a conservative government.
I suppose that that FBI is already tracking down this racist hater. Maybe she can be re-educated ….
“who can disagree with that?”
If that was a real question, I can.
Oops – #94 continued.
I’d rather they have health care, not health insurance. And I’d rather not let Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi decide exactly what care they need.
Why would it be a factor? You think the French spend a lot of time worrying about the rest of the planet at election time?
There is a reason all of our European ancestors immigrated to this country. They lived in Socialist societies and wanted out!
That’s not true and you know it. Al Qaeda has publicly declared their support for Obama, as has the Communist party.
As for the rest of the planet being for Obama, that’s also not true. In fact if elected Obama will probably be the most internationally disrespected US official since Madeline Albright, whom the world saw as a senile old cleaning lady. John Howard, PM of Australia, has already blasted Obama for his stupid, shortsighted plans for Iraq.
And so what about the rest of the world? They’re not allowed to vote here. They don’t get the full story, the lies, the back stabbing, the bus tires caked with relatives who are no longer useful to him. All they get is what CNN spins and spoon feeds them.
They also see what you refuse to see – an opportunity. Obama has recently announced that he has unilaterally decided to destroy the electrical power creating capacity of this country. He fully intends to bankrupt 50% of the power production in this country thereby destroying Mankinds last best hope for world peace.
If this time was ever to come about, that will be the time for “rockets red glare and bombs bursting in air”
McCain/Palin ‘08
Palin/Jindal ‘12 and byond
I will never submit, NEVER!
Good news, if true!
