Unhinged knitter of the day
I’m a crocheter, not a knitter. I’m wondering if maybe there’s some sort of ideological divide between the two groups — because it seems there’s a considerable population of unhinged moonbat knitters out there.
Check this out, via reader J., who is an undercover conservative knitter on a left-wing knitting website. (Not Safe For Work warning.)
And check out the Palin-hating knitter’s blog banner:

What the…?
That PDS knitting project and blog reminded me of this group of anti-war “subvervise knitters” I blogged about last year:
Some of the artists address ”issues of politics, gender and ethics,” as a wall text puts it, in a general way. Janet Echelman’s giant, hand-knotted nylon net hanging from the ceiling in the museum’s entryway recreates the look of a nuclear mushroom cloud. Freddie Robins’s sinister-looking gray-knit bodysuit, with the words ”Craft Kills” emblazoned across the chest, alludes to the airline ban on knitting needles in the post-9/11 era.
The works most in keeping with the show’s politically charged title are more interactive and collective, or more related to performance. For example, Cat Mazza’s collectively crocheted ”Nike Blanket Petition,” a campaign against sweatshop practices represented here in a series of photographs, will be sent to Nike’s corporate headquarters.
A video of Dave Cole’s ”Knitting Machine” project shows two John Deere excavators wielding telephone poles tapered to look like knitting needles — and missiles — to knit a giant American flag in the courtyard of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, Mass.
Knit 2, Purl 5, Conservative-Bash 10.

Classy bunch, aren’t they?
My wife cross-stitches. I think that means she’s for Nader.
I’m a crocheter
Knit 1, Purl 2, John McCain, woo woo
I tie granny-knots. I’m a GDI.
Crochet for me too, left-handed. My poor mom was never able to teach me. I taught myself when I was on bed rest for my first pregnancy. Now I’ve taught my own daughter.
My grandma both knitted and crocheted. But her generation learned for practical reasons, not as a political statement.
I can tie my shoes.
I sew. Hey, a sewing machine is just another power tool!
Madame DeFarge!
Me, too! We need to start a club for left-handed, Right-thinking crocheters…
Crochet…wasn’t he a French pirate?
And when me and the rest of the Club of Single Male Mormon Foster Parents are done with the broom closet, you guys can meet in there.
I’m a multi-crafter — crochet, knit, cross-stitch and latch-hook — but I certainly don’t have the kind of free time necessary to simulate mushroom clouds or to knit bodysuits. Sheesh.
I believe Madam Defarge was a knitter (as well as a 18th century progressive.)
I thought Moonbats were into macrame.

I thought it was basket weaving.
Nice legs!
I doubt she can tie her’s also, her shoes are buckled…surprised they aren’t velcro closures.
Michelle – My first thought was, ‘When does Michelle have time to crochet?!?!’
I can’t begin to figure out how you man the AP/UP wires, read other blogs including Hufpo, DU and Kos (bless your heart), go on FOX as often as you do, blog almost all day every day, read the comments, read your e-mail (which I would think would be a full-time job in itself!) and be with your family, etc. I’m sure I haven’t covered all of it. You’re amazing. God bless you.
I belong to a website that is dedicated to needlecraft. They strongly lean towards knitters but they accept us crocheters (sometimes grudgingly)as well. The site has message boards for both pro McCain and for that other guy running. I am on a Nobama message board on that site and there are knitters and crocheters there but I have to say I think there are more crocheters that are pro McCain.
I find knitting needles terribly phallic and hence oppressive.
HEY HEY!
HO HO!
KNIT AND PEARL HAVE GOT TO GO!!!
So that’s why security at airports were confiscating knitting needles.
She has ugly knees. I wonder if she knows Bill Clinton?
I’m a knitter. There are many wonderful, kind, supportive, charitable knitters out there.
The crafty blogoshpere is dominated by leftist crafters. I quit blogging because I got tired of the attacks. 2004 was a fun year.
My bf in Iraq just received a hand knit blanket from me. It’s cold at night now and I’m helping to keep him warm. Many knitters and crocheters send handmade blankets to Iraq and Afghanistan. Bless them.
I’m a left-handed crocheter, too. Mother couldn’t teach me, so I learned from the lady in the craft department of a department store in 1971.
I knit left handed for fun. Bonus: it drives some people crazy.
You can work magic in less than an hour with a P or Q hook and chunky yarn!
Needlepoint is the way to go!!
Oh brother.
Yes, all knitters are deranged leftwing nuts.
You really need to get out more and meet more knitters, Michelle.
God Bless all who can knit, crochet, sew etc. Me, I can’t even sew on a button, I’m pretty handy with a screwdriver though.
Is the c word for feminists like the n word for blacks now? Black people call each other the n word, use it in music and promoting the gangster lifestyle while letting everyone know only they can use it. Feminists are going to run amok in their greetings to each other, what’s up my C? C please! Me and the C’s were chilling last night! Are they going to lose their minds if anyone else dares use the c word toward them?
Geez. I’m building a wooden boat in my garage. My only dilemma is whether to put a little outboard on the back end or go with wood-fired steam power. I really like the little bitty steam engine with all the polished brass.
Does that make me a Luddite?
ECS
Basket weaving would be more appropriate for that bunch of loons. There’s political speech and then there’s name-calling. I gave up the latter somewhere in the 5th or 6th grade.

Keep the screwdriver handy mom in case one of those screwballs shows up at your door.
Those Scandalous Sewing Socialists.
Crocheters of America Stand Ready! Stand Firm against the Knee Jerk Knitters of the Left!
Neither crocheter nor knitter am I
But every fishing knot I tie
Tied to the Right-say I
Poetic, ain’t it?
Velco count?
Irony…..Sheep knitting. (Maybe blindfolds or strait-jackets)
Arizona…lgm knits.
Absolutely, and I have quite the collection too.
Wow…so hot, yet so incredibly stupid. And a proud little Communist to boot.
However, I think it is so telling about who and what she is just by reading how clever and witty what she put on tha…outfit?…was. None of it made sense at all, and the fact that so many Lefties and Liberals feel that they need to be so incredibly vulgar in order to make a point speaks to the very nature of their souls; dark, empty voids that don’t hold an ounce of kindness to anyone but their own.
Michelle,
We all know that being a crocheter means you’re also a racist, assimilating, bitter wannabe who secretly wants to cross stich when no one else is looking.
Your secret is out, Madam Hostess! HA!
LOL….my grandmother knits and crochets…is that like she’s reaching across the aisle to unite people?
WoW! haven’t seen this kind of tackiness since high school. She is poor white trash with knitting needles.
She does?

I’m living proof that one can be conservative and a knitter, but I’ve wondered what it is that attracts liberals too, as I’ve run across some rather “progressive” and downright trashy comments on knitting blogs. Hadn’t seen this one before, though.
there ya go. Fixed that for ya.
And knitting or crocheting? Neither for me. But it amazes me to watch someone do it.
I knit and crochet but I feel better about myself while crocheting.
I don’t know what it is about fiber arts that attracts loons. Quilt artists are mostly moonbats, too. Someone tried to put together an exhibit of election-themed quilts for the recent International Quilt Festival in Houston, and while they tried to make it bipartisan, there were only Obama quilts. Art quilt exhibits are also heavy on the “social justice” and “anti-war” crap, too (the 2004 and 2006 IQF had several Bush-bashing quilts; “racial justice” is a popular theme, too).
I think there might be one or two conservative quilt artists, but their work is not political (landscapes, color studies).
(One of my favorite quilters–I took a class with her in October 2004–went cat-poop crazy with BDS after Kerry lost; the quality of her work has really gone downhill. It saddens me.)
And here I always thought it was spelled “pearl.” More like wink 1, hurl 2.
How long did it take to make that? Many, many hours of hate, it looks like. She must be a barrel o’ laughs at parties. Sorry, lady, that’s messed up.
A fellow crocheter! I knew I liked you, Michelle!
As to that, I think it’s their general tendency towards iconoclasm. They see a stereotype–in this case, the elderly crafter with eight cats–and must destroy it! Though, I’m iconoclastic too, in this instance. I’m fresh out of college and only have two cats.
Please don’t lump all of us knitters into the moonbat community!
I’m a conservative, self taught knitter who voted for Palin!
Too funny!
