Weasel Murtha turns to weasel Clinton
I said it before. I’ll say it again. John Murtha is running scared. Truly a sign of desperation:
U.S. Rep John Murtha will be joined by former President BIll Clinton at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown Monday for a “Get out the Vote” rally.
Doors will be open to the public at 2:30 p.m. at the university’s sports center at 450 Schoolhouse Road. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.
The event will focus on Murtha’s leadership, experience and continued fight on behalf of the people of western Pennsylvania, according to a campaign press release.
“It’s the day before our country re-elect’s Jack Murtha and elects Barack Obama to represent them,” Matthew Mazonkey, Murtha’s spokesman said.
Clinton made stops in Johnstown and Somerset while his wife, Hillary, was running for the Democratic Presidential nomination. When Clinton ran for his first term in 1992, he visited the sports center.
“We’re excited he’s coming back to Johnstown, to the same location 16 years later,” Mazonkey said.
The event is open to the public. While tickets are not required, Murtha’s campaign asks people to RSVP by calling 1-866-831-8264.
Another sign of desperation. This is called projection:
Local business leaders rallied behind U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, on Sunday in response to recent statements made by his opponent about local workers’ skills and qualifications.
But a spokeswoman for Murtha’s opponent, Republican William Russell, said the 12th district candidate’s comments were taken out of context.
At a press conference held at Murtha’s office on Main Street, Murtha accused Russell of insulting hardworking western Pennsylvania workers.
In a story published Saturday in an Altoona newspaper, Russell accused Murtha of trying to make the region dependent on the veteran congressman for industry. Russell said jobs should be based on local, natural resources, not on earmarks from Washington.
Russell used Johnstown’s National Drug Intelligence Center as an example.
“Most of those jobs aren’t for people in the area,” Russell was quoted in the article. “When you look at the skill sets, they aren’t necessarily developed for the manufacturing base here.”
Murtha said Sunday that Russell’s statement bashed the quality of the local work force.
The king of congressional smear merchants has some nerve attacking anyone else over “insults.”
It’s still an uphill battle for Bill Russell, but things are looking bright, as I’ve been reporting. Russell is optimistic:
Republican Congressional candidate Bill Russell knows predicting victory will likely jinx his chances.
But because he said he already predicted victory to a supporter a few days ago, he figured it wouldn’t hurt if he did so again to PolitickerPA.com.
“We’re going to win by 4 points,” Russell said, shortly after his mid-day rally next to a Days Inn. “If that’s a jinxing move, it’s already happened.”
Predicting victory against 34-year incumbent U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-Johnstown) would have been met with laughs and eye-rolls two months ago, even from dedicated Republicans. Russell’s own campaign, although dedicated, knew toppling the western Pennsylvania institution would take a political miracle.
But perception of this race has changed dramatically the past month. A poll commissioned in late October by The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review showed the congressman leading by fewer than 5 points. A week earlier Murtha made his now in-famous remarks to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s editorial board, calling his western Pennsylvania district a “racist area.” He later called them “rednecks” during a botched apology.
Murtha’s comments were the first time it seemed he might not coast to his 15th term. The DCCC and NRCC both soon reacted — each has bought nearly a half-million dollars worth of ads in the 12th Congressional District.
But for Peg Luksik, Russell’s campaign manager, the realization came a month earlier. The campaign had commissioned an internal poll to see which issues Russell should focus on.
It showed Murtha’s support below 50 percent, a worrying sign for a long-term incumbent whose opponent was still barely known.

…square in his dentures.
I hope Russell wins. He seems like a good guy, and if he does pull it out, it’s an indicator that Obama will not win the election.
This election is going to be tight. My gut tells me it’s even closer than what the polls indicate. In any case, there’s only one poll that matters, and it’s taken tomorrow. Please, pray for our nation. I have hope but not certainty, which, really, is probably how it should be.
I linked up with Vets for Freedom folks yesterday in Johnstown and we were at William Russell’s rally yesterday afternoon in New Stanton, PA. Gold Star mom Debbie Lee, Move America Forward Melanie Morgan, Vets for Freedom (Pete Hegseth, Shawn Bryan, David Bellavia), and local pro-Life and pro 2nd Amendment supporters all spoke. Hopefully, Uncle Jimbo from BlackFive will be posting about it today. I finally was able to meet the parents of “Haditha” Marine LCpl Justin Sharratt’s parents, Daryl and Theresa Sharratt. It was a great, well attended event.
Can you believe it, Murtha finally supports a surge? His desperate cry for help to MoveOn.org and for carpetbagger funding from fellow liberals in Congress resulted in (according to The Johnstown Tribune-Democrats) nearly a million dollars last week alone, with those making donations of $1,000 or more gave Murtha $570,000. A steady stream of celebrity libs visited the 12th District over the past few days and today Bill Clinton will appear with Murtha in Johnstown.
My sense is the outcome will be close. If you live there or know anyone there, please vote and urge them to vote.
BTW, Murtha has added to meely-mouthisms.
The other day, he refered to his 2006 opponent, and sitting Washington County Commissioner, Diana Irey as a “ditz.”
Weasels herd up? They never mentioned that on Animal Planet.
Well, you learn something new every day.
Hate to tell Murtha, but if you look at Bill’s past “success” supporting Democrat candidates, it’s like having Typhoid Mary show up.
Great, the corrupt slug brings in a corrupt lecher to campaign for him.
Is Clinton campaigning for Murtha good or bad for PUMA votes for McCain?
I hope he accounted for all of the deceased and fictional rednecks that will vote!
What moron would vote for Murtha after all he has said?
The same morons who will vote for Obama.
since it hasnt been said so far…
Hey Murtha…
DLTDHYAOTWO
What he said.
Another incumbent threatened? Liddy Dole.
It is pretty clear to me based on our polling this weekend that Kay Hagan will be headed to the US Senate unless something very bizarre happens in the next 72 hours. While numbers in the races for President and Governor are basically unchanged from last week there has been clear movement away from Elizabeth Dole, a sign that her ‘Godless Americans’ ad is blowing up in her face.
Dole has run one of the worst campaigns imaginable.
Dole is getting what she deserves.
If you live in North Carolina, pile on. Crush Liddy while you’re defeating McCain. You’re doing a favor for the rest of America.
Twice–I guess.
Has waterhead ever apologized for calling those who post here racists?
Let’s see…
Indicting Marines of murder before there was even a trial and were subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing.
Calling his constituents racists.
Then calling them rednecks when trying to make amends for the previous comment.
Now Obama saying he’s going to bankrupt the coal industry with carbon credits in an area where coal mining is thriving.
If these people still vote for Murtha and Obama, they deserve the “change” they’re eventually going to get.
The crazed Libs are out in force I see.
Desperation. Watershed and others.. Keep up the entertainment. It’s fun to watch you libs unravel.
And the fact that Billy Boy is trying to stump for Murtha is a great sign that Murtha is in his last gasps as a congressman. One thing though… you parents of young girls.. keep them safe at home while Bill is in town. The presidential-pedophile is on the prowl.
It only gets nastier when you feed a troll!

Now, now. Let’s keep things honest. I never said everyone here was a racist. ever.
Just a good number of you.

Unraveling? Who huh wha?
USA Today/Gallup poll: Obama 53%, McCain 42%
http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2008/11/final-usa-today.html
Murtha thinks his coal mining constituents are redneck racists and Obama wants to shut down the coal industry.
Back in the real work China is building one coal fired power plant a week.
GGEEEEESSSS!!!!!!
watershed,
proud to be a racist.
Trolls are not are adversaries, they are our enemies.
Does anyone know when waterhead stopped sodomizing young boys? Just wonderin’.
I’ve been wondering why Obama is running ads in NJ. This state should be a lock for him. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but seems a bit odd.

So, if I call you out for racism, them I’m a racist. But then, when you call me a racist for caling out your racism, so don’t the same rules apply? You said racist! So that makes you a racist, too. hooray!
I’m just so confused how the malkinite board logic system works here, but I think I’m getting it!

Whoops! Situation compromised! Abort! abort! Back to Soros training camp.
You are a good little democrat tool. This morning on CNBC their political pundit explained how totally accurate their own poll was. He said that the latest NBC poll showed Obama 51% and McCain 43% with 6% undecided. He said this is true because their poll of early voters was exactly the same 51% to 43%, Obama. If the vote has been cast, where the hell did the 6% undecided go? 6% of voters nationally are voting undecided? What a crock! The propaganda arm of the democrat party is still on the job and hard at work.

Huh?
The undecideds declared hemselves as such.
I think a good number of Republicans won’t vote tomorrow, becuase of Palin. They can’t vote for Obama, but can’t bring themselves to vote for McCain. it’s gonna hurt him.
Ah, Murtha – calling on Clinton.
The final move of many a desperate liberal.

Sure! I will bring my copy of “A People’s History of the United States” for you.
(G’head, google it. Sigh.)
This is foolish.
Most non-McCain voters on the right would much rather vote for Palin. It’s the top of the ticket they don’t want.
Count me among them. I’m not voting for either of the liberal scumbags the big parties have presented.

Naw, you don’t get it. I’m talking MODERATE Republicans, the ones that are nowhere near this wacky fringe-y website. They have the common sense to see that Palin is one of the most cynical political decisions for executive office, well, ever, but still are Republicans and can’t vote Dem.
Her prank call http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbEwKcs-7Hc&eurl really is the nail in the coffin. She’s a dodo. No-ones even defending her on the right at this point, just sighing and crossing their fingers.
Be careful. Waterhead might be pulling a Matthew Shepard on you. Actually, that didn’t turn out so well for the troll.
Hey waterboard, aren’t you late for you nambla meeting?
Kanjorsi has Clinton today too. Late night calls to invite me are not favored.Mother of all colds won’t stop me from voting for Barletta and every republican I can find on the ballot. My democratic party has done nothing but insult the American people.
It does seem a bit odd, especially given that most New Jerseyans who won’t vote for McCain are much further to the right and would never even consider voting for a harder socialist like Oblahma.
He’s definitely wasting money running ads around here. The only thing I can think of is that most of the state is largely within the broadcasting range of Pennsylvania, which is looking like it’s in play.

Oh, speaking of the FIRST AMENDMENT, did you know that Sarah Palin doesnt understand what it is?
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations,” Palin told host Chris Plante, “then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
Of course, the First Amendment guarantees freedom of the press. getting this one wrong is just scary, isn’t it?
“Moderate Republicans are already solidly in the McCain camp. They are already happily voting for a Democrat, and they are quite happy to have the voice of reason involved in their campaign because it brings many more conservative people into the fold.
If Palin were such a bad choice, no one would be talking about her on the Left. Still, the top of the ticket is unacceptable, and the Donk is worse.

Does that mean we aren’t getting that beer? Familyman, you too!
Way to stay on topic Watershed. Nowhere in the original post, did I see any mention of Dole. Nowhere in any prior post did I see any mention of Dole.
Your “equivalence” comment is similar to a situation where one of your students comes in and wants to play football instead of a musical instrument. Of course I’m sure you are ok with that.
Please stay on topic.

They are both incumbents in trouble. (Though not so much Murtha, really.) Dole’s campaign also has a similar “oops” factor in that her religion ad PO’ed alot of her constituency. it’s a fitting comparison.
Better becareful about the first amendment. Looks like BO is super sensative about any critical remarks dirrected towards his way. He probably is for the Fair Doctrine and already soon he would want talk radio removed. He would only welcome praise too. I still don’t know what John Kerry’s plan back in 2004 for Iraq, and to this day I still don’t know what BO’s policy is either. Still don’t know how BO will keep taxing businesses (job creators) and yet increase employment from them. Some that I know personally don’t want to expand business if BO is elected.
#52 I see you still are having trouble understanding what people say.
Not sure either. Pols have him ahead here by a lot. But this state went to s few points diff after RNC conventions. Maybe since they have the illegal donation cash, they’re will to spend it in a lot of places.
The other line of thought is that NJ is a huge Independent state. I think as many if not more INDs than either Dems or R’s and tends to elect moderate R’s often enough. Maybe that split has them thinking it could go other way. Dunno. But if NJ went McCain, it would be a very bad sign for Obama. Very very bad.
Watershed, please re-read the First Amendment. This is basic grade-school civics for Americans.
Sigh.

Your point being? other than agreeing with what I said?
The First Amendment is actually not that complicated. It can be read from start to finish in about 10 seconds. It bars the Government from abridging free speech rights. It doesn’t have anything to do with whether you’re free to say things without being criticized.
SOOO, Palin has this exactly backwards, since one thing that the First Amendment does actually guarantee is a free press. Thus, when the press criticizes a political candidate and a Governor such as Palin, that is a classic example of First Amendment rights being exercised, not abridged.
If it is a lock for him, then I’d rather see him wasting his money by running ads there.
Methinks waterhead should be more concerned with my understanding of the Second Amendment.
Hey Wateronthebrain, go your local junior college bookstore and buy a Constitution handbook. They’re $2.99 in the Poli Sci section. Then read it.
The Constitution gives you a right to stand on a soapbox on a street corner and be Wateronthebrain.
BTW…Are you retarded?
Mere “criticism” isn’t the issue, and you know it.
I just read the comments on this thread. Here again, the message is not getting through. If you COMPLETELY ignore the troll, and that means, not a single response, no matter how much you want to, the troll will get frustrated and leave. I think some of you actually like sparring with it. So be it. Now back to the topic…if you are wondering why anyone votes for jerks like Murtha, it’s the same reason the Jews vote for Obama. Their parents were democrats, so they are too. They don’t pay enough attention to the facts, they just know they are democrats, not republicans. Seriously, it is as simple as that. “Why bother to listen to the other side? I am a democrat.” There you go.
The Jersey and PA market overlap quite a bit. I would guess this is the reason.
Only on Philly channels.. like 10. Cable channels are more specific. Not sure where the ads are running. I may have seen some on cable, but I’m not near philly. So no idea really. Just a guess.
The guy has hundreds of millions is questionable donations. He has adds running everywhere. Why not? He has the money.

You are SOOOO CLOSE to actually threatening me with a gun, but can’t bring yourself to do it. What a bummer for you! (snaps fingers)
You are my new “run of the mill” malkin board poster. Bar none!
Yes, that is very frustrating. No matter WHAT facts are presented, no matter what Obama says out of his own mouth, b/c he has a (D) after his name, there are some who will vote for him. Personally, I am encouraged by some of our friends and family members (indies and Ds) who are voting McCain.
P.S. You’re right about the troll…I, for one, shouldn’t have fed it. I’ll try harder to resist next time.
Maybe Vice President Palin has a “nuanced” and “thoughtful” approach to the 1st Amend, like Obama’s ideas on US national security and the coal industry -
lol = losers on line
There really is no point since the guy continues to mis-read and misquote everything. I don’t even bother responding to his taunts anymore. He is childish and not worth it.
South Jersey is served by Comcast Cable, which is based in Philly. Any ads running in South Jersey on Comcast may be aimed at Philadelphia area voters.

“Fight” for the people? Fight for his own livelihood is more like it! Fight has become more defined by this election, to mean “GET THE PORK” for, which also means “I scratch your back (provide federal funds for you), and you scratch mine (send some of that money MY way for helping you.)
Murtha and his ilk should be identified with these unethical, wealth-robbing tactics, booted from office, prosecuted, and incarcerated. Stripping them of all their federal retirement pensions would, of course, be icing on the cake.
