What exactly are you thanking the troops for? What exactly was threatening to American freedoms in Iraq? Honestly, it just seems so superficial whenever you post this stuff. Of course, we should be respectful of those in the military, but harping on about how they are protecting our freedoms which were NEVER at risk in Iraq is insulting and absurd.

not that i would expect you to know this, but we have american men and women fighting in afghanistan too. as well as those stationed around the world who, while they may not be actively engaged in combat operations (thank God) are acting as a deterrent. this is also a sacrifice for which we should show gratitude.

apparently reading comprehension does escape you. michelle did not specifically cite our troops “in iraq”. she sent “a shout-out to all our troops fighting overseas to protect our freedoms here at home.” as i pointed out above, there’s more overseas than just iraq, kids. class dismissed.

Shut down our newspapers? Prevent us from peaceably gathering? Exactly which of our RIGHTS were threatened by Saddam?

What would you even know about it, you little worm? It’s more important to talk outta both sides of your mouth and mouth platitudes than have any actual pride in what our military has done.

What have you sacrificed? What have you accomplished? My sister-in-law’s fiance just got back from Iraq and felt proud of how he’s helped the Iraqis. I also have had friends deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan who’ve felt the same thing only to be condescended to by the likes of people like you.

You don’t know the meaning of the word respect. If you don’t know how to show it and can only make a petty remark, what the hell are you doing here?
