Election Night: Counting the votes Colorado, Virginia called for Obama

I’m starting a fresh thread for the night. Just a reminder that you can catch me on PJTV sometime during the 8pm-9pm Eastern slot.
Scroll for rolling updates…
Tidbits:
The Real Clear Politics electoral map is here.
McCain takes Kentucky and W. Virginia; Obama takes Vermont.
Military ballots will be counted in Virginia, thank goodness.
Democrat Mark Warner has taken the Senate seat in Va.
Stay tuned…
***
8:15pm Eastern. NBC has called Penn. for Obama. Take it for what it’s worth…
So much for those bitter, clingy racists, eh, Barry O?
McConnell hangs on in Ky. Elizabeth Dole appears to be out in NC.
I can tell you this much: The Senate Republicans need a wake-up call. We need fresh, conservative leadership. McConnell had his chance.
***
8:22pm Eastern. Virginia is still too close too call.
8:42pm Eastern. Hearing that Georgia is going in the McCain column…
8:52pm Eastern. Sununu loses his Senate seat in NH.
9:19pm Eastern. Minnesota and Michigan go for O.
GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss hangs on in Ga.
Fox and others have called Ohio for Obama.
10:55pm Eastern. Both Denver papers are calling Colorado for Obama. Also calling Democrat Udall the winner in the Senate race.
Virginia called for Obama.
Writing’s on the wall, folks.

should read:
and they said the church is NOW israel…
sorry..
Prez Obama is bad enough. Vice President Biden??? Yeeeecccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..
Fox calls VA for Obama with a 1% difference and 91% reporting in …
I differ, with 9% of precincts still to report in and only a 1% diff between the two it’s too close to call.
Fox must’ve knuckled under to the Obamamedia nation
And still, we have NO birth certificate. How pathetic.
The good news is that we are finally done with McCain.
I sincerely pray for you all. Good luck…
I’m unfamiliar with the specific speak of Prop 8.
If it passes, what will stop a judge from striking it down tomorrow morning?
Well, I’m still hoping for the miracle, but I believe in free will, and if a majority of this country appears ready to elect an inexperienced man who supports not just partial birth abortion but live birth infanticide, maybe we are due for dark times.
Perhaps we are experiencing an exile from the Promised Land. Pray we will be allowed back.
Just remember, all in God’s time, and God’s time is always perfect, even if we don’t understand the situation before us…
Are you guys listening to these Fox trolls? “Obama will govern as a moderate.” What the hell are they basing that bit of wishful thinking on? He hasn’t said anything remotely moderate, especially whenever he accidentally told the truth about himself.
And Joe the Mouth Bidumb is the f*&^%ing VP. I’m gonna be sick.
We are now the joke of the free world.
right4life, I have demonstrated my points. If the Jews (as a whole) rejected Jesus, and yet are still God’s chosen people, then you have people that are saved while they reject Jesus.
Your view also entails that these people that are saved, even though they reject Jesus, must therefore only be saved by being a member of a certain race of people. Other races aren’t saved if they reject Jesus. That would make God a racist.
I don’t believe now is the “end times” of the world (that could come at any time), but perhaps it is for the country. It is reported McCain conceded to Obama. Sadly, it appears I was very wrong about my country.
Guess FoxNews got the message from the Obama camp. They are gushing over him.
McCain calls Obama to congratulate…..AAARRRGGG
So, is this the Fall of the Eastern Empire we’re witnessing – the last light of civilization (or in our case, freedom) diminishing and leading to the Dark Ages?
Once America falls, the rest of the world (so joyous tonight!) will soon learn that when their last defender falls – who will come to their rescue? And who will come to ours?
There is still good news… after all the tribulations, there will be a triumphant return of the real Messiah and there will be peace in the land. And we will know each other as the sons and daughters of God that we are.
Rove just said all Americans should celebrate….WHaaaaaat!!!!
I agree, sambo. I will continue to stand upon my principles and be vocal about it.
Our polls just closed here in CA. I hope to God my Republican Congressman retained his seat.
ask Him. but Israel exists, as he said it would…ever read ezekiel 37-39? a physical then spiritual restoration is promised..
It will probably go up. There will be a bounce… a short to mid-run rally over the election of Obama. Over 50% of the population thinks this is a good thing, many of them are in the “investor class”.
It will take time (months, years) before the negative consequences of this man’s election are felt. That is, the economic affect. The geopolitical scene could come unglued tomorrow.
I wonder if this is how the Romans felt when they saw the barbarians coming down on them..:-(
You have to keep in mind how incredibly stupid the guy is, Nacho. He’s always been totally lost without handlers to package him.
Actually the free world loves this. Thats how you know its bad for our Country.
The flag is currently hanging upside-down in our window. Not that it matters; we are in CA. I always felt the GOP would have to crash and burn before they got their act together again; even when they mimic socialists, they can’t get elected.
I’m off to order my copy of Being There.
It’s called “sucking up”. I would have said “brown nosing”, but that would have been racist…
Sadly, it appears I was very wrong about my country.A country that chooses socialism over freedom and prosperity for all.
The GOP did this to themselves for 6 years (2001-2007) of being the majority party that did absolutely nothing it could/would/should have done.
I remember in the 1970′s after Nixon resigned, the GOP was given a near fatal blow, but it came back. The GOP of today, or for that matter the USA of today, is not the same place.
We have been zigging & zagging down this road to socialism for years. The dumbing down of the public education system. The loss of the standards, principles, and morals that built this country are coming home to roost. We once as a people shared them but we don’t any more.
This situation will be vetted out one way or another. God Bless the USA, we are going to need it.
“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
— John Adams
Finally done with McCain? Are you kidding? We should be so luckly! He will be bending over backwards in the Senate to reach out to his buddies on the left.
The Democrats’ election strategy is to take the electorate for fools. Sometimes it works for them.
This country has elected a corrupt neophyte, which I guess makes us just like Europe now. You may be right about them loving it, but they’ll be singing a different tune when Iran is shoving nukes up their butts and we’re wallowing in economic depression with hardly any military to speak of.
Oh well… welcome to the People’s Republik of Amerika.
A dark hour for the U.S. and the world. The fulfillment of scripture cannot be far behind.
Come Lord Jesus
I’d say they hit the nail on the head, wouldn’t you?
no, you’re just making it up as you go…repeating talking points. ever read Romans? the advantages of the jew? seriously. God doesn’t reject the Jews…even though they reject Him. God didn’t reject the Gentiles…even though they rejected Him..and sent Jesus. the Lord is merciful…
‘races’ aren’t saved, please…..individuals are saved. the nation of Israel is reborn as prophecied…deal with it. as I said, first a physical restoration, then a spiritual restoration…as Ezekiel predicted…
but I was not…I was expecting Obama to win because the US MUST ABANDON ISRAEL…and now we will.
I can see the White House renovations now…teleprompters in every room to tell the Obamameinfürher what to say and a cardboard cutout of him with a tape recorder in the conference room when he has to meet with the joint chiefs of staff.
LOL gippergirl! Thanks for the laugh.
Our long national nightmare is just beginning.
I’m gonna miss Sarah Palin.
F U B O.
And all your idiotic supporters too.
I know WarEagle but he will never be on a national ticket again. That is a good thing.
Don’t count Sarah out.
I’ve been going through a lot of ups and downs emotionally about this election. I’m now taking the results as motivation. If things continue tonight the way they are, then it means that we can rid ourselves of the old and reinvigorate ourselves with the new once everyone gets a sample of what an unobstructed Democratic Party tastes like (chicken?). There’s the silver lining.
I’m not depressed at this moment. I’m kind of energized, actually. Not celebrating (that’d be demented coming from me, who’s demented enough already), just energized. Palin, Steele, Jindal (to name a few), and names we’ve not heard from yet — after this storm has been weathered (I hope – yes, I said HOPE – it’ll just be some sprinkles or a squall here and there), the future looks bright.
I think we’ve been so lax and apathetic over who we’ve voted for over the last twenty years that we can now start over with a clean slate. New blood is what the Republican Party needs, and it’s been a long time coming. CHANGE! You wanna tick off a liberal, make “hopenchange” your own. They’ve been shooting themselves in the foot with their rude, punk-[self-redacted] attitudes. People will catch on to it sooner or later. Would’ve preferred sooner over later, but a lot of people are just ignorant. Nothing’s important unless it affects them directly. Until then, the big picture is just a painting of their own designs.
Sorry. Don’t mean to put an umbrella over anyone while the parade gets rained out.
Later, alligators.
There is one silver lining (and I sure as hell need to see one right now) There will be no filibuster proof majority. Thus, some small temperment and defense against the coming socialist juggernaut.
Now I just hope that our party leaders rediscover real conservatism.
Obama’s election will necessitate that Israel – to survive – take out the Iranian nuke sites within the next few months. With McCain, Israel would likely have had much more breathing room and a bigger window to work in.
30 Pieces of Silver and I talked a lot about Hunter on this site. A very good man, but couldn’t gain traction.
Dump the RNC. No RINOs no Winos no Albinos. (Sorry, lost my head…)
Over/Under on sick of Obama – six months.
No more voter fraud. Fight it locally, fight it nationally.
They will bankrupt us trying to pay all the world’s welfare benefits, keep your money to yourself. There is a reason gold coins have been swept off the world market.
Keep reminding people – you voted for this…
Appeasers always cause wars. Israel will do whatever it takes to survive.
Well, I’m guessing tomorrow I start working toward a 2010 conservative sweep in Congress, and Romney in 2012.
The Conservative movement goes through cycles like this. There’s a revolution, it gains power, it stagnates and turns moderate, it loses. We’ve been here a few times since WWII. 1960, 1976, 1992, 2008… Nothing new under the sun.
The problem is the damage the Dems do in the meantime.
Hell, the most reassuring thing I heard all night was the exultant MSM talking about how Barry will have the same Congressional makeup as enjoyed by Carter… Good. Start the comparison now. I say by April, the country will realize it screwed up. Bad. Enjoy your tax hike.
We need conservative leadership. A grassroots rally to defend, as much as we possibly can in our weakened state, what they’ll try to do. Chuckie even came out and told us: “Fairness” Doctrine.
And most of all: pray. Pray for the country. Pray for the good health of Justices Thomas, Scalia, Alito, Roberts… even Souter and Kennedy.
This is the time to kick your RINO in the butt if they are still in office tomorrow.
Time to put on the hip boots, folks. There’s a lot of cleanin’ to do at the RNC headquarters.
Time for bed… before the messiah speaks… the lord of this world… the father of lies… g’nite all
right4life, Romans teaches that not even the Jewish people, the “natural branches,” will be spared if they reject Jesus (Romans 11:17-24). Paul answers the Gentile Christians, who were becoming arrogant towards the Jewish Christians (the Roman church was split between the Jewish and Gentile Christians), by proving that not all of the Jews rejected Jesus. That is why Paul points out that he is a Jew (11:1). That isn’t to say that all Jews will be saved.
Throughout the history of ancient Israel, there was only a small fraction, a remnant, that was ever saved.
I support the modern day nation of Israel because they are an important ally in an important part of the world, and not for some theological reason.
The bad news is, we’ll now have a President Obama. The good news is, we won’t have a President McCain or Hillary.
Kudos McCain.
More gracious than he had to be.
With the RINOs, 4 I can think of, (Snowe, Collins, Specter and Graham) and one who isn’t quite RINO but positively Republican Lite, (tonight’s loser, although we are all losers) assuming they go 50/50 on cloture votes, 57 or 58 Senate seats are probably enough for the Dems to avoid the filibuster.
At least the worst of them, Warner and Hagel, didn’t seek another term.
None were as bad as Lincoln Chafee, of course.
The one thing we can count on is that in 4 years idiots will finally stop saying things like “change is good!”
Change is change and is itself neither good nor bad.
I am soooo tired of hearing idiots tell me “change is good.” Hitler, Lenin, Stalin and Mao brought change….
Now, I wonder where this leaves Palin. I’m hoping she runs for the senate in 2010 to get experience for the 2012 presidential election (not that experience seems to be a requirement for that position anymore).
Reading the expectations and attitudes of my community of Queens NY, I seriously doubt this will EVER be effectively “vetted”. Socialism is habit forming and this country has a built-in base for it which will only irreversibly expand as time goes on and it alters the cultural fabric of this country. The Dems are going to sow dragons’ teeth of entitlement programs everywhere which will be poison for any politician to touch hereafter. It will make Social Security look like a picnic. This day marks the beginning of a Europe America, and my our basic culture survive!
Thank you Single Issue Conservative Voters for whittling down the Repub primaries to a weak nominee with no fire in his belly to really win! Gentlemen losers DON’T impress me!
Hold on to your wallets and values, America — at least the part that had sense!
MM, Rush, Sean, Levine — especially Sowell, watch your backs!

purplepeep- that’s what’s scary!!! he is soooo dumb. i’m just speculating here but i think that he’s so conceited that he feels he got where he is on his own and that he doesn’t owe them crap. he’s used them as a stepping stone.
i’m scared- my entire family lives in israel. i heard on the radio the other night that iran was saying that the “earthquake” that they had the other day was an underground nuclear test.
i’m sad because what i see the greatest thing in the world going down the toilet. there is nowhere else in the world where someone can have the opportunities to succeed as they have here.
i’m disappointed that people don;t see that don’t have a clue what freedoms and opportunities that they have in this amazing country!!! they cry about not having this or that. take a good look at the middle east or africa and realize that you have it all!! women can go to school, choose whether to get married or not, can walk alone down the street freely without being raped or harrassed(like in africa or the middle east). etc.
BUT MOSTLY I AM FURIOUS!!! the RNC needs to stop being gracious and polite and chivalrous and “hope” that the people will see past the b.s. that the left slings at them. time to take off those gloves and fight like you mean it. show that you want it.
anyways… off to bed. i have school tomorrow so that i can get a better paying job because millions on welfare are depending on me!!
Did anyone notice that CNN called California for Obama when McCain was actually leading by 51% to 47% around 11:05?
It had changed to the other way around by 11:40 but still….
Oh, and by the way, we have elected the first African-American as president but we are still a racist nation! Never forget that.
Nah, I’m afraid Sarah is permanently stained from this. I’m afraid her political career is completely over.
If she ran again, the media would pounce more viciously than this time. She’s “that White woman who tried to stop Obama from becoming President.”
I hate to say it because I adore her, but, it’s over.
How could we have fallen so far since the convention? I would have bet my house that we would have won after her performance that night.
But then, the media launched it’s attack….
Well, they may have a different opinion of her after the 4 years of hell we’re about to endure.
Patronedheart – You’re thinking like someone with a brain in their head. Have you forgotten, that’s something that about 55% of the voting public no longer has, or cares about. It’s all about skin color, socialism, and PAYBACK now…
This might help.
ECS
Better hope Ted Stevens keeps his seat.
I would have hoped our first Black Commander in Chief would have been a good one.
Obama has hinted at reparations in the past. Standard for the Wright/Ayers crowd.
Slavery ended 150 years ago, and while I’m white, none of my ancestors ever owned African slaves, and, in fact, most of my ancestors were still in Europe during slavery.
How will reparations work for Blacks who aren’t descended from American held slaves? Obama, for one. Blacks with mixed race ancestry? A proportionate check?
BTW, even if this country does mail a generous check to people six or eight generations removed from slavery, I still suspect the culture of victimhood that produces race baiters like Wright, Jackson and Sharpton will remain.
Thanks, ECS. I get a bonus check in December. I’ll use that.
Well, Thunder, it’s going to take brains and a cool head to think our way through this mess (not to mention a ton of prayers).
The great thing about this, is that I have officially become rich and I didn’t even do anything!
Will Obama also nationalize my IRA, or is it just people with 401ks who will have their money nationalized, receive a 3% annual return, and give half back to Uncle Sugar when they die?
If it includes my IRA, I should probably cash it all in for physical gold and keep it in a safe that is well hidden in the house.
You won’t be rich for long, Donut. BO will make sure of that.
On the bright side to this disaster is
the French will finally like and respect us, which has always been high on my list of concerns. No more rude waiters in Paris!
Comment #666 I’ll cash it out now and pay the taxes and the penalty, 70% is better than nuthin
Amen, ill. Amen.
Palin took a huge gamble and is probably tainted at the national level for a very long time. That is one reason I am glad Jindal declined the opportunity to run with McCain.
Palin wasn’t enough to convince me to vote for McCain but she is a great lady and I wish her well. As for John McCain, I wish him a long and healthy retirement, the sooner the better!
I’m not getting the whole, “Palin is tainted” thing. Tainted by what? Many have run for national office and lost, only to come back and win in the next round. What’s up?
“guilt by association” applies to GOP candidates but not leftists.
Palin was the stronger half of the ticket, quite honestly.
She isn’t a career politician, she has a family, a good record in Alaska and solid conservative and religious principles. She’ll have four more years of gubernatorial experience in 2012.
If she anticipates running in 2012, she can gather advisors that share her principles on issues she is now considered light on, like foreign policy. By all accounts, she is a quick study.
I will say, besides executive experience as governor, Jindal also effectively ran a state agency in Louisiana, and served in Congress.
Ideally, they run 1-2 (in whatever order) in 2012 in the primaries, and the loser accepts the VP slot.
Ed Mahmoud abu al-Kahoul, your comment number is 666!
Damn, I just realized this means Akon won’t be leaving for Africa! #&$(#!!
If I were Todd Palin I would tell my wife I would never endure this again! It would be me or another national race. Why would any sane human do this to themselves and their family twice?
I love the lady but I don’t expect her to run again. I could be wrong. I am not the “Chosen One.”
The more I sit here and stew, I’m GLAD I don’t have to see John McCain anymore! Thank you for your service, you’re a hero, but you were one of the weakest candidates I’ve ever seen!!
McCain makes Bob Dole look energetic. We never had a chance with McCain. It was over before it started.
What were we thinking running a 72-year-old man with white hair against a young, energetic, articulate man? It was Clinton vs. Dole all over again!
Stop running old men! God Bless them for their service, but that doesn’t mean they should be candidates!!!
NO MORE OLD MEN AGAINST YOUNG MEN! I’m sorry, but that’s the way it has to be from now on!
(Unless you’re Ronald Reagan, but, there’s never going to be another Reagan!)
If Obama plans to bankrupt Big Coal, and intends for electricity prices to ‘skyrocket’, then he probably eventually plans to bankrupt Big Oil. I work for a small independent. Now, if he tries to go the al-Ghour greenhouse route and cut driving by ‘skyrocketing’ gas prices (he did mention $4 gas didn’t bother him), he might do it by an import tarriff which might partially offset his planned windfall profits taxes and help smaller domestic producers.
Well, my wife’s job as a school teacher should be secure, and maybe it will be a benefit in a worst case scenario that she isn’t white.
I was thinking, with the likely 25% cut in defense spending, the shipyards and aircraft manufacturers in Texas (and the shipyard in Pascagoula) will probably lose all their government contracts. The Red States must be punished.
Still cheeses me off the party of communists gets to be ‘blue’…
That’s great WarEagle. Palin’s tainted, McCain’s conceded. The impure have suffered. We might have another Reagan in ’12 though!!!1!11
Where, exactly, do you see the US in 4 years?
Think back to 2004, consider what was said then, the hopes/fears then, before you answer. The celebratory tone of some “pure” conservatives concerns me and disgusts me at the same time. Congrats, we didn’t get a RINO! We got a socialist with control in both houses with the good chance of filling a couple of Supreme Court seats! Four whole years, that’s nuthin’! We’ll make a true party separate from those guldurn Republicans, guldurn it, the MSM was right about them!
We’re screwed!
Like I said before, we cleared some of the dead wood, like Powell and Hagel and John Warner, and country club/beltway cons like Kathleen Parker and Peggy Noonan, from the fold. The party will be better off in 2012 because of it.
But the damage to the country will be severe, and country should come before party. If McCain had won, as old as he is, he probably would have been a one termer, and Palin might have been President in 2012, and she seems like a real deal conservative.
Even winning the White House and Congress back in 2012, while quite possible, won’r be a cure all. The military will have been slashed, foreign tyrants and terrorists will have had a four year grace period to regroup, and there may be enormous entitlement programs that will be difficult to roll back.
It didn’t matter in the end, but the idiots who voted for Barr or some other protest candidate in battleground states put their own ego ahead of the good of the country. I’m upset now, I’d be furious if protest voters had helped inflict Obama on us.
Perhaps but it is as old as time and even more honored. This isn’t a cricket match. It will be Ruby Ridge writ large.
–
That Every Man Be Armed–You Too ladies
The world has changed.
Bring Romney back in 2012, keep the Huckster off the ticket at all costs. Jindal may be a good choice, but his time will come later. Let this Obamanation fall flat on it’s face, the koolaid drinkers will find out soon enuff that he cant deliver.
Tonight America just spit in the face of all her veterans. Tonight America died.
And also took a big dump on those currently serving!
May leftwing America get all it’s asking for!!!
I know of quite a few rigs that are being laid down because of an OB win. The oil companies were preparing in advance to prevent losses in production due to what they know will happen if OB wins. Now, I guess it will just be a reality. I was supposed to go out on a job yesterday and they laid down the rig I was on, so even before he was elected, BO has already taken money out of my pocket.
Sorry. Dyslexia strikes again. That was supposed to read BO the first 2 times. Still too early in the morning!
Wellsy, we were screwed in 2004 by Bush and the GOP “leadership” in the House and Senate.
If you mistook my tone as “celebratory” I suggest you get a hearing test. America made her worst choice ever last night.
The only problem with your scenario is that McCain would have been a bad choice too. Look at what McCain promised to do with immigration, global warming, and a host of other issues. McCain would have caused a disaster of slightly different proportions. And the GOP would have concluded that they could win with RINOs. Maybe now they will figure that one point out.
Where will we be in 4 years? Here is my guess. I could be wrong. Things could easily be worse:
Unemployment: 7 to 9% if we are lucky. Could get worse.
Taxes: Add 5 to 10 points to all brackets. Many new taxes on energy. Everything costs more due to taxes.
Interest Rates: No guess. The whole process is so screwed up already it is irrational and hard to guess.
Stock Market: 9000 will be a dream. I suspect we may see 6000 or even 5000 as these leftwing idiots screw with an economy they don’t understand.
Health Care: Less choice, costs more, wrecked as they prepare to socialize it.
National Debt: $5 Trillion more than GWB leaves office. A default on loan payments is not impossible.
Military: Smaller, weaker, starved for funds and much less effective than now. Expect recruiting goals to be missed every year. Expect troops to get out as fast as they can. Expect Obama to put “stop loss” in place and dream up all manner of new, stupid foreign interventions. A draft by 2011 is possible.
There was no celebrating here last night. I was torn between crying and vomiting.
