Wellsy, we were screwed in 2004 by Bush and the GOP "leadership" in the House and Senate.

If you mistook my tone as "celebratory" I suggest you get a hearing test. America made her worst choice ever last night.

The only problem with your scenario is that McCain would have been a bad choice too. Look at what McCain promised to do with immigration, global warming, and a host of other issues. McCain would have caused a disaster of slightly different proportions. And the GOP would have concluded that they could win with RINOs. Maybe now they will figure that one point out.

Where will we be in 4 years? Here is my guess. I could be wrong. Things could easily be worse:

Unemployment: 7 to 9% if we are lucky. Could get worse.
Taxes: Add 5 to 10 points to all brackets. Many new taxes on energy. Everything costs more due to taxes.
Interest Rates: No guess. The whole process is so screwed up already it is irrational and hard to guess.
Stock Market: 9000 will be a dream. I suspect we may see 6000 or even 5000 as these leftwing idiots screw with an economy they don't understand.
Health Care: Less choice, costs more, wrecked as they prepare to socialize it.
National Debt: $5 Trillion more than GWB leaves office. A default on loan payments is not impossible.
Military: Smaller, weaker, starved for funds and much less effective than now. Expect recruiting goals to be missed every year. Expect troops to get out as fast as they can. Expect Obama to put "stop loss" in place and dream up all manner of new, stupid foreign interventions. A draft by 2011 is possible.

There was no celebrating here last night. I was torn between crying and vomiting.

We’ll make a true party separate from those guldurn Republicans, guldurn it, the MSM was right about them!

I know of quite a few rigs that are being laid down because of an OB win. The oil companies were preparing in advance to prevent losses in production due to what they know will happen if OB wins. Now, I guess it will just be a reality. I was supposed to go out on a job yesterday and they laid down the rig I was on, so even before he was elected, BO has already taken money out of my pocket.

Bring Romney back in 2012, keep the Huckster off the ticket at all costs. Jindal may be a good choice, but his time will come later. Let this Obamanation fall flat on it's face, the koolaid drinkers will find out soon enuff that he cant deliver.

Gloating over a defeated enemy shows a lack of class.

Perhaps but it is as old as time and even more honored. This isn't a cricket match. It will be Ruby Ridge writ large.

Like I said before, we cleared some of the dead wood, like Powell and Hagel and John Warner, and country club/beltway cons like Kathleen Parker and Peggy Noonan, from the fold. The party will be better off in 2012 because of it.

But the damage to the country will be severe, and country should come before party. If McCain had won, as old as he is, he probably would have been a one termer, and Palin might have been President in 2012, and she seems like a real deal conservative.

Even winning the White House and Congress back in 2012, while quite possible, won'r be a cure all. The military will have been slashed, foreign tyrants and terrorists will have had a four year grace period to regroup, and there may be enormous entitlement programs that will be difficult to roll back.

It didn't matter in the end, but the idiots who voted for Barr or some other protest candidate in battleground states put their own ego ahead of the good of the country. I'm upset now, I'd be furious if protest voters had helped inflict Obama on us.

Well, my wife's job as a school teacher should be secure, and maybe it will be a benefit in a worst case scenario that she isn't white.

I was thinking, with the likely 25% cut in defense spending, the shipyards and aircraft manufacturers in Texas (and the shipyard in Pascagoula) will probably lose all their government contracts. The Red States must be punished.

Still cheeses me off the party of communists gets to be 'blue'...

What were we thinking running a 72-year-old man with white hair against a young, energetic, articulate man? It was Clinton vs. Dole all over again!

Stop running old men! God Bless them for their service, but that doesn't mean they should be candidates!!!

NO MORE OLD MEN AGAINST YOUNG MEN! I'm sorry, but that's the way it has to be from now on!

(Unless you're Ronald Reagan, but, there's never going to be another Reagan!)

The more I sit here and stew, I'm GLAD I don't have to see John McCain anymore! Thank you for your service, you're a hero, but you were one of the weakest candidates I've ever seen!!

McCain makes Bob Dole look energetic. We never had a chance with McCain. It was over before it started.

If I were Todd Palin I would tell my wife I would never endure this again! It would be me or another national race. Why would any sane human do this to themselves and their family twice?

I love the lady but I don't expect her to run again. I could be wrong. I am not the "Chosen One."
