Franken-Coleman Watch: Coleman pulling ahead

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 4, 2008 10:38 PM

Scroll for updates…

Not funny:

Democrat Al Franken is leading Republican Sen. Norm Coleman in early returns in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race.

With 8 percent of precincts reporting, Franken has 45 percent of the vote to Coleman’s 39 percent.

Update: The race is tightening. It’s neck and neck now.

My girlfriend doesn’t care much for McCain, even though she voted for him. (I’m assuming) But she’s mad she didn’t have a better candidate to vote for.

I blamed it on the Republican primaries where McCain got off to a fast start in Iowa and New Hampshire. Romney and Rudy and Fred had to play catch up and couldn’t.

By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion.

On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps.

There our captors asked us for the words of a song; Our tormentors, for a joyful song: “Sing for us a song of Zion!”

But how could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?

If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither.

May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights.

Remember, LORD, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: “Level it, level it down to its foundations!”

Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us!

Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock.

Perhaps we are experiencing an exile from the Promised Land. Pray we will be allowed back.

If the Republicans were smart, they’d institute a preferential voting system, meaning that you’d get to rank order your choices. For example, you could say, “1. Duncan Hunter, 2. Tancredo, 3. Thompson… Last. McCain.” Instead, we had a big split among the “conservatives”, which gave the false impression that McCain and Romney were leading.
