The state of the Union is scary.
Don’t freak out just yet — this is closing up big time.
I can’t imagine a Senator Al Frankenstein. Bad enough Obama will win tonight.
I’ve been thinking for years that this is not the country I grew up in…
we’re slouching towards zimbabwe…fast as we can…
Anyone besides me have a sick feeling in your stomach?
It is hard to understand how this wing nut could get elected to anything.
Scarey…
But great radio talk fodder…
It seems you could be named Adolf Hitler and if you had a (D) after your name you could get elected.
Pass me the Koolaid please.
I think this race is tightening…
It was 43-41-15 last I knew.
Please. Hang on to this one. I never expected the big one, and was considering a Coleman hold the best possible victory from tonight.
What’s really sad is that if Franken wins, the Senate will no longer be funny.
Oddly enough, I’m not sad to see how all of this is going.
I’m angry. Damn angry.
I have lost faith in my “countrymen”.
There’s also a strong third party candidate in this race drawing votes away from the 2 major parties.
I believe Coleman has a better than even shot at keeping his Senate seat, but we’ll see.
Sen. Coleman should be ashamed of himself if he loses. It’s almost as bad as losing to Marion Barry.
If he wins I’ll take it as a sign that God has turned this country over to the godless to teach us all a lesson. This country has mocked Him and spit in His face too many times.
Also angry. If Al Franken gets elected to the Senate, I will go nuts.
Has our country gone mad? How could people know what they know about these Democrats and vote them in?
Don’t forget, Minnesota elected a clown once before, and… well… now that I think about it, they’ve never recovered.
sigh
in 1992 I went to the RNC and warned them that the demcrats were re learning machine politics and that once they perfected the lesson the GOP was in trouble
Went back to them in 1994, 1998, 2000.
By 2001 I Gave up. No one in the RNC wanted to listen. They were utterly convinced that their method would keep them in power.
Chicago machine politics > Karl Rovian style politics. It was only a matter of time.
And the ugly election I forsaw 15 years ago has come true. The GOP is shattered.
NOW WILL YOU STOP LISTENING TO MORONS WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO RUN ELECTIONS ?!?!?!??!
The GOP must be rebuilt but NOT by the people who destroyed it @!
Remember this is the same state that gave us Gov. Jesse “The Body” Ventura.
I think they have permanent brain freeze up there.
The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. They deserve exactly what they are getting, and so do all of you RINO enablers.
The local news (in the Twin Cities) has it at a 1 point difference between Coleman and Franken, with most of the vote not yet counted.
I’d be surprised if the yet-unreported votes don’t lean toward Coleman.
Because these voters read People and InTouch magazine. Oh, and let’s not forget the National Enquirer.
Not exactly a cerebral bunch.
With eight percent of returns?
I’ll wait till the working people vote before I freak.
William Amos: I’ve seen you post in many threads today. May I ask what your method is? While I agree that this election shows the victory of machine politics over… well… anything objective, what do you suggest we do? Joining them in their strategy is not acceptable to many of us. I would hope that a strict accountability move would help, but really, what can we do that will work?
If you want, email me at scottjhebert@yahoo.com. I don’t really care at this point what I’ll be getting in my inbox.
Stupid people vote too…
Honestly, I really don’t feel like I know my fellow Americans anymore.
How could Heartland Iowa farmers vote for someone who is a nultra-leftist who is friends with people like Ayers? Why don’t people care about that?
Did McCain’s opposition to ethanol turn them against him?
My girlfriend doesn’t care much for McCain, even though she voted for him. (I’m assuming) But she’s mad she didn’t have a better candidate to vote for.
I blamed it on the Republican primaries where McCain got off to a fast start in Iowa and New Hampshire. Romney and Rudy and Fred had to play catch up and couldn’t.
Why can’t we start the Rep. primaries in Texas or Georgia or UTAH for crying out loud?
I told the RNC about a counter to the Democratic machine. But it had some nuances that we could exploit.
However Im not giving details out as the RNC is more likely to steal my ideas than allow me to use them.
Its part of the problem I have with them.
Talk radio? What talk radio?
The people have spoken. This scourge has been removed for the greater good of the proletariat.
Details in room 101
frankin is nothing but a bad joke. he never made me laugh one time on SNL. I know this is a bold thing to say here but I believe America deserves what she gets when seemingly over 1/2 of America is nothing but blundering selfish moron idiots. At least most of us here won’t have to explain to God someday why we voted for someone so against Him. God bless America, she needs it more than ever in these end days.
Well, I’m still hoping for the miracle, but I believe in free will, and if a majority of this country appears ready to elect an inexperienced man who supports not just partial birth abortion but live birth infanticide, maybe we are due for dark times.
Perhaps we are experiencing an exile from the Promised Land. Pray we will be allowed back.
I have lived in MN for most of my life and MN has a lot to offer. Franken is not one of the things that I am proud of MN for. The corruption of many of our politicians is great and I cannot seem to understand how there rarely seems to be a consequence for their crimes. When I was in the service, I would see people get promoted for very wrong reasons. We used to call it F*!k Up and Move Up. I guess that is one of the things we are witnessing here.
the race is close….. 42% Franken — 42% Coleman…. the independent is pulling 15%….
less than a 1,000 votes between Franken and Coleman….. we can only hope the majority of the votes are from the metro area and the rural areas will go for Coleman.
error…. 41% Coleman……sorry
No
Words
If the Republicans were smart, they’d institute a preferential voting system, meaning that you’d get to rank order your choices. For example, you could say, “1. Duncan Hunter, 2. Tancredo, 3. Thompson… Last. McCain.” Instead, we had a big split among the “conservatives”, which gave the false impression that McCain and Romney were leading.
So, does anyone else have celebratory gunfire where they live? (No, I’m not kidding.)
Send_me – Exactly, I proposed that early in the Primaries. It is the best way to end up with the man the true majority would be pleased with.
Send_me… I agree. we do need a new way to pick our candidate. I really believe McCain was elevated by dems and independents who wanted to make sure the republicans had the weakest candidate. i only hope this race does no harm to Palin.
As for Franken… he makes me s i c k!
42-42, now Coleman about 5,800 votes in front.
Unfortunately, its hard to be optimistic tonight.
#36 Send_Me
Yes, I can hear occasional pops of gunfire here in midtown Atlanta.
Coleman by about 1,000 with 48% reported… come on, hold!!!
Smith down about 16k in Oregon.
Being a lifelong Minnesotan and having seen a lot of politics, I think you can be optimistic about Coleman’s chances, Roastbeef. Though it will be a long night.
Isn’t it amazing just how bankrupt the GOP is that they can’t beat a freaking comedian?
This party is going to go to war after all is said and done. I just hope the true conservatives win.
The only people who will diss Sarah Palin will be Dems of course and RINOs incognizant that their slouching away from conservatism brought this on them.
Sarah Palin is the “Maverick” we should have had on the Prsidential part of the ticket. Despite McCain’s flubs, she had no problem speaking her mind, and kept fighting (while John was busy screwing himself up).
She also won her debate with Biden.
Sarah Palin is the reason John McCain didn’t get drubbed worse than he did.
WE definitely need a better way of picking candidates in the Republican Party…and a few heads need to roll.
Coleman just took a 1% lead…..50% of precincts in….
Some Good news if it holds out
Bachmann 98,568 48%
Tinklenberg 87,471 42%
I can’t believe this tax-evader is actually even close in this race.
Bachmann 103,939 47%
Tinklenberg 93,319 43%
55% precincts reporting – 12:02 a.m. EST, Nov 5 ’08
Hope you’re right, Purplepeep. Really need this victory after everything tonight.
It looks like you know your stuff right now too. 55% in and Norm’s lead up over 15,000.
Smith’s deficit down to 12,000 with 39% reported
Lets hope Coleman wins. It’ll take more than 41 Republicans to filibuster in the Senate because of the RINOs.
The good news is, two RINOs didn’t run for reelection. Losing John Warner’s seat is only losing half a seat.
Bachmann 104,406 47%
Tinklenberg 93,710 43%

Yeah. Not just Coleman (up 17k), but if Smith can turn around his gap (now 7,500) at least we’d have 43 without having to worry for what becomes of crooked Ted in Alaska.

My close friend since college (I am 36) is sitting on my couch right now. He will soon go home to his wife and son. The boy was adopted from Guatemala, and despite bureaucracy that threatened to derail the adoption, Senator Norm Coleman stepped in and saved the day.
My friend has his son thanks to Senator Norm Coleman.
God Bless this man.
Respectfully,

Blacktygrrr I am happy for you and your friend tonight…I too am also adopted.
Although I’d be surprised if Coleman doesn’t win re-election, I’d be shocked if Bachmann did not.

well my local congressman got re elected so there is that good news.
It all just dropped to 6,000. Apparently, we’re still not out of the woods yet.
Anybody know what has yet to be counted? Lefties in Minnieapolis or conservative areas?
The Minneapolis/StPaul
(Twin Cities area) urban vote usually is the first to be reported. As with most other states, rural/small town Minn tends to be more conservative.
Here’s a live local TV news feed (KMSP – Fox- Twin Cities) that should keep you up to speed. Clicking on it should start Windows Media Player:
http://mfile.akamai.com/25230/live/reflector:44762.asx
Or just go to the site and click on the play link there:

You might catch it during a commercial break – if so, it displays the “You Decide” logo until the commercials are over – then it’s back to the newscast.
FOX just showed the latest numbers — Coleman is only up by like 200 votes.
Not looking good now…this is scary, very scary.
Has Franken ever done anything but sketch comedy, a movie based on a recurring sketch comedy character that bombed at the box office, and a failed lib talk radio show?
Besides writing odes to porn and forgetting to pay taxes?
Im afraid Coleman is dead meat. Hennepin county (Minneapolis) is going heavy for Franken and only 78% of precincts counted.
Not good. Up near Duluth is only 68% and its going heavy for Franken.
This hurts a hundred times worse than Obama… and I’m not even in Minnesota..
And people wonder why the US lags behind in math and science? Just look at our culture. This is what we’ve been reduced to. And what our public school indoctrination of liberal causes has resulted in = A nation of idiots. A culture that envies Hollywood instead of real leaders. I wonder how many 15 year-olds even know who Reagan was?
NORM COLEMAN 1135847 42.17
AL FRANKEN 1123741 41.72
DEAN BARKLEY 410143 15.23
At last, some good news.
Hoorah.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, I give you “Liberal Cries of Fraud and Voter Inability to Register, Part Deux.”
Cue the whining.
It’s within recount tolerances, and Franken is “looking into irregularities in voter ability to register in Minneapolis.”
Hey Al, be grateful you got more people to vote for you than ever listened to your horrendous radio show. Step aside and let a qualified person stay in the Senate.
“I knew Paul Wellstone. Paul Wellstone was a friend of mine. You sir, are no Paul Wellstone.”
