Doesn’t surprise me a bit. My in-laws live in Cambria County, they love Murtha and can’t stand Republicans. Too bad because they’re fairly conservative folks.

I have no doubt that Russell, like McCain, served his country with courage, honor, and conviction. Those are three qualities which don’t mean squat in a political campaign.

My district borders Murtha’s and I go in to his district to go to work.

It just occurred to me that I can’t remember seeing any Russell signs.
Murtha has brought a lot of pork but nothing to show for it in terms of jobs.
My county (Armstrong) is split but Murtha has the lion’s share.

We have no growth and the last real manufacturer, Eljer Plumbingware, just shut down.
Nothing to keep young people here.The 2 towns in the center, Kittanning and Ford City, are old folks, public housing, and welfare and drugs.

Although we’re at the bottom of the barrel, the rest of Murtha’s district is the same. For all the $ millions he has brought to Johnstown, there’s nothing there either.

At least here, there was no Russell campaign. His handlers did nothing.

It seems more and more we’ve seen candidates exhibiting total self-interest while their constituents exhibit a total lack of self-interest. If that’s not a recipe for disaster (remember the story about the scorpion and the frog? “What did you expect? After all, I am a scorpion.”), I don’t know what does.

“Laissez-faire” used to mean “keep government out of my way”. Now it seems to mean “I’ll keep out of government’s way”. I don’t get it.

For us, the battle begins today.

You can understand why a nation would elect a man with so little experience and questionable associations when they also elect a man like John Murtha who has total contempt for them and our military.
Did they want change so bad that they were willing to sell their souls for it?
Then they deserve what ever they get.

No Send_me I do not hear gunfire where I live (Marysville, Wa. 35 miles north of Seattle,WA), but then Marysville isn’t as rabidly liberal like Seattle yet…for now it is a little oasis that is slowly disappearing.
