Obama thanks his biggest supporters: The press

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 4, 2008 09:54 AM

Barack Obama took time out of his Election Day this morning to thank some of his biggest supporters — the reporters who were lucky enough to keep their seats on his campaign plane.

He would be nothing without them and he knows it. They know it. We all know it.

Via AFP:

Democrat Barack Obama made a rare foray to the press section of his campaign plane early Tuesday — election day — to thank reporters for accompanying him on his grueling 21-month ride.

Also thanking the media for expressions of condolence following the death of his grandmother, Obama acknowledged there had been “sometimes friction” between the campaign and the press.

“But you guys have been gracious and understanding,” he said, following conservative criticism of the press for its coverage of Obama, as his plane prepared to depart after a huge rally in Virginia for Chicago.

“It’s been a good long ride with all of you,” the Illinois senator said. “Whatever happens tomorrow (Tuesday) it’s going to be extraordinary and you guys have shared this process with us.”

Very true. The democratic process in this country is a wonder to behold. A peaceful transition of power due to a vote of the people.

If McCain wins they will be unrelenting in their attacks on McCain and especially Gov. Palin.

The good part is though, should he pull off a win, the same media will be forced to turn on Obama, in order to salvage what’s left of their credibility, when his poll numbers start to drop in the summer of `09 and Americans finally come to realize they’ve been had by Obama’s empty rhetoric and phony campaign promises.

Because I educated myself. Read history. Take those lessions and apply it to the race today. Look at both with a critical eye. Forget about what the candidates say, because neither one of them can keep thier promises and avoid bankruptcy. Explore thier backgrounds. Because believe me, the MSM is NOT going to do it for you. ROSE: I don’t know how he really sees where China is.

BROKAW: We don’t know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

ROSE: I don’t really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?

BROKAW: Yeah, it’s an interesting question.

ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches.

BROKAW: Two of them! I don’t know what books he’s read.

ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?

BROKAW: There’s a lot about him we don’t know.

The don’t know much about him? After all this time? There are tapes of him from 1995, 2001, etc. records from when he was an organizer and lawer for ACORN, and when he worked with Ayers. There is his associations with Wright, Ayers, et. all and NO INVESTIGATION OF IT.

This exchange is perhaps one of the most ludicrous, preposterous conversations I have ever read. Brokaw moderated probably the WORST debate in modern history. What questions were asked in that debate? NOTHING OF VALUE.

That’s a bunch of bull. If Obama wins today, and I think he probably will, he has none other to thank than George Bush and gang. This election today is about nothing other than a complete repudiation Bush and what he has done to this country. Bush is leaving this country in shambles

The economy started to take a nosedive when the Dems controlled Congress two years ago. Remember Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac and how the Dems blocked all efforts to reform or at least have an oversight on them? Thank Sen. Dodd, Sen. Obama, and Barney Frank, they received the most amount from these quasi-government financial instituions.

They will not if the MSM has anything to do with it.

Sonofdy is correct. His allegiance is to the Constiitution and we ALL need to remind our military of that.

Old war story. I loved Richard Nixon, but the night before he announced his resignation from the Presidency, the young junior officers of my battalion met privately to discuss Nixon’s growing mental instability.

We all agreed that if we got an order that violated our oath to the Constitution we would refuse to obey it and further to inform our subordinates it was an illegal order and direct them not to follow it.

We kept the faith. So will those who have followed us and so will your son.

If it comes to that, it will be an individual choice to make. I know where I stand, but I would have to give my guys a chance to choose.

You will be glad to know that I voted to allow gay marriage in California! I am no bigot!

I understand what you are saying and i have no doubt that you are not a bigot. However no on prop 8 is going to enable lawsuits against schools, churches, any good organization that does not agree with this position. I would vote no on 8 if this was a purely civil rights vote, but it is not. This is a vote for endless future litigation, suppression of people’s rights to free expression and very well could be harmfull to children. I would rather not have the state Constitution address this issue, but the original vote was stolen from the people to begin with. California has proven itself to be anti-democratic in this regard.

Very true. The democratic process in this country is a wonder to behold. A peaceful transition of power due to a vote of the people.

    I love this country!

    (Oh, and GOBAMA.)

Who wants to bet that Waterbed would hate this country if The Annointed One didn’t win? You’re right. Sucker bet.

I do agree, but you must acknowledge Lou Dobb’s heroism on his journalistic integrity on the Communist News Network.

Right. That would explain why hardly a single republican wants anything to do with Bush. That explains why Bush did not appear at a single rally to support Bush. That would explain why even McCain calls it 8 years of failure.

By their own judgement, the MSM hasn’t fulfilled the function which justifies the 1st Admendment protection they enjoy. They have instead lied and hidden the truths they are supposed to expose — in hopes an Obie/Dumbo admin will kill the New Media. They think people will default back to them ifthe New Media is outlawed. Shows that “journalist” is a job who’s only requirement is drawing breath.

People needing to win at any cost — even at the cost of the integrity of the system of laws from which their authority descends, once that system fails from scofflawism, will not stop at the New Media.

No, it is I: mike. Dad’s name is Martin.

Dad’s condition is unchanged from last comment on MM’s site: combines score 4: in other words, his body mildly responds to pain stim, but everything else is shut down.

My job has kept me busy, I have yet to get to finish a leave I’ve put in for. The longest unbroken leave I’ve been able to enjoy has been 51h22m… and yes, I time them. (not hard, just start a timer on my watch…). Last time was Kunsan AFB, Korea, but I’m bouncing again in 7hrs. I’ve stopped in to enjoy time among “friends” (don’t mean scare-quotes, but “virtual friends” isn’t accurate, either…).

I really will update Dad’s site this next return CONUS. No, really!

Will email on return. Recently given a book we’ve got copies of… (in several of the family libraries…) by a person shucking weight for PCS. Tell you more on return… I’ll send email to same address as last time, ok?
