And the real winner is…Peggy the Moocher

My syndicated column today looks at how both parties in Washington have fueled our out-of-control bailout mania and entitlement culture. The ethos is embodied by Peggy the Moocher — the Obama supporter who is no doubt ecstactic today over the prospect of her gas and mortgage bills being covered. We are a Land of Peggy the Moochers now, in large part thanks to Republican capitulationists. That is the main point of the piece and I don’t want you to miss it. It’s not just about one Obama supporter. It’s about the endless parade of corporations and homeowners lining up for their handout and how the GOP failed fiscal conservatism. Failed the party base. And failed taxpayers. On a related note, the American Issues Project has just released a new survey of voters in battleground states. The bailout “played a big and punishing role for the GOP.” Learn from this, Washington.
Update 12:30pm Eastern. Right on cue, Nancy Pelosi has just issued a renewed call for the Democratic stimulus boondoggle (which is item one on my What Not To Do list): “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is calling again for a lameduck session of Congress to enact a stimulus program to shore up the sinking economy. Pelosi, a California Democrat, said Wednesday that no decisions have yet been made on such a post-election session. But she did say that talks are continuing with the White House on the terms of such a package, which would include additional assistance for people who are out of work.”

And the winner is…Peggy the Moocher

Sorry to break the bad news to Joe the Plumber. But the winner of Campaign 2008 is Peggy the Moocher. No matter who moves into the White House, Peggy’s got good reason to do a happy dance. The plain, ugly fact is that both major political parties are committed to spreading the wealth in one form or another. It’s all just a question of how much and how quickly, not whether.
Who is Peggy the Moocher? She’s Peggy Joseph, a voter in Sarasota, Florida who exulted earlier this week at a Barack Obama rally that this was “the most memorable time of my life.” Why? As she told a Florida reporter on a YouTube video now viewed by hundreds of thousands: “Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know. If I help [Obama], he’s gonna help me.”
You can’t blame Peggy the Moocher for viewing Obama as the superior Santa Claus. With a relentless messianic campaign, a grievance-mongering wife touting him as the country’s soul fixer, and a national infomercial promising to take care of every need from night classes to medical bills to rent and fuel-efficient cars. Obama effectively channeled Oprah Winfrey’g Big Give.
“Everybody gets a car!” “Everybody gets a car!” And gas. And mortgage payment relief.
Bu the damning reality for fiscal conservatives is that John McCain’s plan for homeowners under water on their mortgages was even more generous than Obama’s. His $300 billion “rescue” involved directing the Treasury Secretary to “purchase mortgages directly from homeowners and mortgage servicers.” That was on top of the trillion-dollar-plus “bank” bailout supported by both presidential candidates, the White House, and the Democratic leadership; the $85 billion-plus to AIG; the $25 billion to automakers; the $200 billion in capital and credit lines to Fannie and Freddie; and who knows what else we’ll be redistributing to the indebted states of New York, California, Massachusetts, and all the other Peggy the Moochers large and small lining up for their piece of the bailout pie.
McCain assailed massive government spending —while promising to heap on more massive government spending to pursue home ownership and retention at all costs. It was the Republican, not the Democrat, who entrusted the Treasury Department to renegotiate individual home loans and become chief principal write-down agents for the nation. Both private and public entities are planning for a McCain-esque homeowner salvation plan for borrowers in the red. It’s a swell idea for everyone who bought overpriced homes with Adjustable Rate Mortgages. Those who rented or bought within their means or locked into fixed-rate loans that they can afford are out of luck, naturally. The only sane thing to do in response? Stop paying your mortgage and get in line.
“E Pluribus Unum” is no longer our national motto. These three words are: “Do For Me.” As in: What will the government do for me? On Election Day, the federal government quietly reported that it will borrow a record $550 billion in the current quarter to fund the bipartisan bailout. The Treasury Department reported that it plans to borrow more than a half-trillion dollars in the current October-December quarter and another $368 billion in the first three months of next year. Estimated total for the whole year: $1.4 trillion. Democrats plan to add another $500 billion in “stimulus”-palooza legislation. Credit card companies, utilities, insurance companies, and car loan and student loan debtors await their turn.
The bailout bonanza blurred the differences between the two major political parties, but the Peggy the Moocher video shows there are still basically two stark, contrasting views of government in this country among the rank-and-file electorate. Unlike Joe The Plumber, Peggy sees government as her salvation and the president as her subsidizer-in-chief. She voted with the expectation that the Spreader of Wealth will reward her with payback. Joe just wants Washington to leave him alone to fend for himself.
Personal responsibility? Hah. Washington can’t afford it.

Beautiful Job Michelle.
Stay strong, we need you.
Obama promise is the 21st century’s version of 40 acres and a mule .
So where do I forward my mortgage bills to?
Poor, poor Peggy will be unhappy when her Dear Leader does not provide for her. He will fall hard from his pedestal.
This song has been in my head all morning and a perfect time for it..
saved by Zero
I eagerly await my gas card…….
This election was the selling of America.
The democrats put the whole country up for sale and are auctioning it off.
Soros owns the aparatchik and the dems base is waiting for its huge government payoff.
Someone tell me how adding 12 million people into the healthcare system creates a better system and doesnt overload it and make care worse than it was ?
Great post, Michelle.

Exactly. I’m waiting for the far-left of all stripes (give-me give-me, get out of Iraq NOW, etc) to turn on him when he doesn’t deliver what they were expecting.
Good one, AJ. I was thinking Janet Jackson’s “What Have You Done For Me Lately”.
1600 penn. ave. send your mortgage payment book… roflmao
We’ve gone beyond the tipping point, the “Gimmes” outnumber the “Illdoits”. Like you said, the Repubs tried to outdo the Dems – we need to shoulder the responsibility, and elbow the RINOs out, and get back to fundamentals.
well, saved by zero was done by “the fixx” lmao!!
Michelle, why is the federal govt so big, and growing so much. Interstate highways? That’s like why do we need civils rights laws — Mississippi. Federalism is dead. People need to stand up and say the federal government is ineffective, obtrusive, and way, way, way, way too big.
Shut up white boy – where’s my stomach stapling?
Done, okay, how much will our gas ration card be for again? And will this include utilities?
Hang on, I have my staple gun here somewhere…
The Republicans engineered our defeat by nominating a candidate who strayed from the base, and is lousy on illegal immigration. It didn’t help that they also participated in the bailout, further alienating the conservative electorate. Thank, GOP. Now we’re going to be in Socialist hell for 4 years.
aj … you got a great idea there … if everyone sent their mortgage invoice to the White House every month it would at least make a point …
as for that song stuff … soon all the kool-aid drinkers will be constantly singing Britney Spears … “Oops, I did it again” …
Peggy’s right, you know. She won’t have to worry about putting gas in the car. There won’t be any gas.
Excellent article Michelle.
Now, all of us need to get in line, before everyone else gets their handout. /sarc off
People like this mooch demonstrate a fundamental problem in our culture. A culture of entitlement and laziness.
Oh crap, how much money will we have to print this time?
In their face…. keep up the fight Michelle.
The Who: We Won’t Get Fooled Again
Ive been holding off buying a house for several months. I think I will wait until the reality hangover sets in on these people and prices fall even more.
If I wasnt tired of living out of boxes and sleeping on an air mattress, I wouldnt even be thinking about jumping back into the market. Its sucks being debt free. But I also off-shored a couple of my accounts just to hedge my bets in case I need to work internationally in the near future.
Poor lady – she’s going to be one sad person in about 6 months.
When she figures out that there is NO FREE LUNCH (maybe welfare) & Barry may have overstated she will be a bitter clingy woman who talks smack about her new Prez. She will forever be Unhappy until she learns to quit wanting hand-outs from the govt.
I didn’t listen to the whole speech but I think I may have heard Barry actually say one can work and become anything they want to be in the USA. Great word for the day – WORK.
I will start my count down clock on Jan 21 and see how it takes for the honeymoon to come to a fast halt.
Paul Tsongas, 1992: “I am not Santa Claus”
Barack Obama, 2008: “I am Santa Claus”
Any money I get from the government is going to pay bills. Reason? TWINS
(still a little punch drunk from that one.)
Roger that. I’ll include utilities and car payment too. This is awesome. What WAS I thinking?
Thanks Barry!
Good column Michelle. Unfortunately this will get you at least another year in re-education. You will need to complete 20 credit hours in Spreading The Wealth, Basic International Rights, and Racial Sensitivity. Possibly a class in Self-esteem as well to overcome your delusions of personal responsbility, a quaint but antiquated conservative notion.
Here are 2 things coming our way soon after 1/20/09:
Kyoto treaty and the international criminal court.
I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but as painful as it would be, a crushing Great Depression, has many upsides.
The illegal aliens in America and the Muslim immigrants causing havok in Europe would find America and Europe much less friendly and be encouraged to leave. And the drying up of government services might help speed up the exodus.
The collapse of the nanny state as a whole would mean a return to personal responsibility where the government isn’t going to pay for someone’s third illegitimate child or their unaffordable mortgage. And with no government taking care of people in their old age, maybe Western demographics can return to more desirable levels as people need more children to take care of them in old age.
We might find out yet….
Actually the person most screwed is me.
Affirmative action will go on steroids and Im too white to benefit. All the jobs will now be handed out on the basis of color.
Im already layed off and now my job hunting prospects appear very bleak indeed. Add to that a contracting economy and I face some very grim prospects.
But hey I guess there is always welfare right ?
sigh
Peggy should stop by my place today so I can write her a check directly. At least it would eliminate the federal middleman.
Peggy is living in a fantasy world, much like all the Obots and idiot Republicans who annointed Gutterball. Will they register for Obama’s Selective Service in droves? I think not. Will they wait patiently for their welfare checks Gutterball promised them? Yes, and the checks will never come. They are all in for a rude awakening.
I slept like crap last night.
When I close my eyes, all I see is the adoring, fawning crowds in Grant Park, eyes glistening from the rapture (and Kool-Aid) waiting for the One to give his acceptance speech. It was Nuremberg rally all over again. I thought Leni Riefenstahl was dead and buried. Chilling!
Folks now here a story about Peggy the Moocher.
She was a red hot hootchie cootcher.
Hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-hi
Hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-hi
Ho-de-ho-de-ho-de-ho
Ho-de-ho-de-ho-de-ho
Actually, Peggy is a loser. She believes that crap.
So did I…woke up at 4:00 am this morning. I had nightmares of wheelbarrows showing up at my door to collect my cash and assets.
I thought all the libs rode the bus?
yep, that gal bogarted the Kool-aid.
Wait a year, they won’t have a choice.
Actually Chap, Peggy has been assigned to you. From now on her gas, mortgage and food (gulp) bills are yours. Spread the wealth.
LOL (Congrats?)
I was frightened there for a moment, Hangfire; I wasn’t sure what kind of dream you were about to report…
Well, not merely frightened, but also, interested….
Everyone I voted for L O S T except for one. Being a Republican in Hawaii is like being a Cubs fan.
what do the states ” New York, California, Massachusetts” have in common? hmmm. I wonder what might lead them to be the neediest states looking for a bailout.
Heres an idea, let’s elect a Congress, Senate, and President that will adhere to the same liberal policies that these states follow.
As a Californian, I can attest to the complete failure of Democratic leadership. Our Federal Giverment is going the way.
I slept well because I exercised for several hours and went to bed around 9:00 PM exhausted. Televisions were off in the house.
And when no beautiful light flooded over the planet healing all, I held out hope that McCain won. Then I woke up around 6:00 AM to reality, such as it is.
Everytime I think that, Hangfire, someone comes along and fools people again.
Perhaps I have a future in porn……..
Well, I got my plans. I plan to work 60 Hour weeks for the rest of this year and pay off all my loans, except my student loan, which I am certain Barack Obama will make someone else pay for when I start working 20 hour weeks in order to collect my
tax rebatewelfare checks fromthe governmentretards dumb enough to work 60 hour weeks. Playing video games 8 hours a day is hard, and I will deserve some payment from UncleSamObamaI don’t count on that, the dems will be blaming bush for years to come and the voters will buy it. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae seriously hurt our economy and the dems blamed the republicans and many voters believed them. Where are the trolls that were paid for to demoralize us leading to the election?
Oh goody! Now that Uncle Sugar is going to take care of me, I can get that operation I need. I think it’s called a “Cerebellumrectallobotomy”. You know, where they pull your brains out through your…. well, you get the picture.
she’ll be fine until someone more needy comes along and then she scream bloody murder cause she can’t get her freebie…what goes around always comes around…
Peggy has the same concept of money as my kids had when younger.
They thought an ATM was a Magic Money Machine. Any time you needed money, just put in the card and out it pops.
They didn’t understand there had to be something in there to get it out.
I’m thinking that our country’s ATM is about to run out.
It doesn’t matter, the left didn’t make bush to blame for everyting overnight either. It took a steady drumbeat.
The second he swears in, it is all his.
Well, the pornographic could have happened at Grant Park too; the result would not have changed with those folks.
As to the bailout plan, Bush can possibly leave with a token of fiscal accomplishment by vetoing any bailout bill sent his way. Let Obama sign any more giveaways and start accumulating his own accomplishments since he has a blank resume anyway.
We need a good, long, I told you so list from the campaign promises of Obama that were outright lies or that he’ll have to “scale back” on. Maybe the Peggy’s of America can read the list later on just in case their memory span is to0 short and selective.
Right on, Michelle. This election wasn’t a rejection of conservative ideals but more like an embrace of feel-good, European style socialist principles. There are lot of grasping, dependent and lazy members of the freeber class (minorities, guilt-ridden whites, women) who think they don’t have to take any kind of personal responsibility for their lives at the peril of us all.
Obummer is gonna represent us all? Since when? How is choosing old heads like Rahm Emmanuel, one of the most partisan libs out there, about change? How will he explain downsizing the military and cutting significant portions of the DOD budget in terms of “unity” and “bipartisanship.”
A record speaks more about a person than any feel-good, empty, logic-lacking rhetoric. It may be received by the deluded minority and youth of this country, but there are many more of us who’ve sacrificed and not latched on to Big Daddy government to take care of us.
Sorry, Peggy, you’re the epitomy of what’s wrong with this country and the black community. There’s no tolerance in the black community for ideas opposite their own. Nothing will change except the same old empty promises that liberals care when they really just want to fashion a new utopian reality favorable to them, not the military, or the hard-working, traditional Americans of this country.
My fellow soldiers, fear the ICC.
Peggy the Moocher = Peggy the parasite.
Parasites will eventually kill the host.
Which is precisely why there will be conservative Republican landslides in `10 & `12 – this election was about an ailing economy, not ideology, and was anything but America lurching left!
No worries. Obama has a solution. He’ll pay all of your bills, give you a slum apartment, give you a free gas and food ration, even let you eat at McDonald’s once a month. All it’ll cost you is all of your income. Don’t have any income? Well, I guess you’ll just have to volunteer for his brownshirt “army”.
I pray this for our families and nation.
Note the “vexed” at the end of the Psalm. They are the ones who do not conduct their affairs justly. They don’t get the connection to prosperity from hard work and sacrifice. They just see that the “rich man” has got all the money and goodies… that they see themselves as perpetual victims of the system. They believe they deserve the reward without doing the work because they don’t understand how we achieved it. They are vexed. …and right now, the vexed have just been given the green light to loot our country. Our government representatives and their appointees shall surely enable them to take and take and take while we do the work.
I am standing on God’s promises to us. His Word is a higher law than any that man can devise. Somehow, God will set all things straight. I pray that we conservatives can stand up in God’s promises and restore our nation to the vision of the founders.
Psalm 112
Praise the LORD.
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who finds great delight in his commands.
His children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.
Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely,
who conducts his affairs with justice.
Surely he will never be shaken;
a righteous man will be remembered forever.
He will have no fear of bad news;
his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor,
his righteousness endures forever;
his horn will be lifted high in honor.
The wicked man will see and be vexed,
he will gnash his teeth and waste away;
the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
What a coincidence. The poster boy for conservatives is a white guy and the person they use to denigrate Obama is a black woman. Could it be that this person is not talking about handouts but talking that with Obama being president she might be able to keep her job and therefore be able to make her mortgage and that gas prices might stay low so that she can afford them? I know you people are conservatives and hate that Obama won but how about some intellectual integrity.
#52, frontierguy. I saw somewhere that Fannie and Freddie were only $81billion
Greenspan really hurt us.
Bubble upon bubble built on the foolish and dangerous expansion of credit instead of fiscal responsibility and saving.
We probably brought this thing down to a soft landing but now, it’s going to hit hard
But hey I guess there is always welfare right ?
Frankly, I’d rather fight That One and millions like Peggy than the nominee of our party had he won. Unfortunately, I suspect we’ll be fighting John McCain no matter what as he reaches across the aisle to help That One implement most likely amnesty for God’s children in a show of “unity”.
If that is the case they she doesn’t understand how tax increases effect business. She is more likely to lose her job. And as for gas prices, what do you think will happen when a “global warming” tax is put on gas? Do you honestly think the oil companies will eat the increase in cost?
DEE DEE DEE
You know what I can never understand about these “stimulus packages”, especially the first? Aren’t they an explicit admission that the economy is better off with money in the hands of the taxpayers, rather than the government? But yet we are headed for higher taxes. And people are going to be mystified when the economy struggles.
Ok, I get that the “stimulus” packages under the Dems will be nothing more than welfare/wealth redistribution, but isn’t it a sad commentary that people can’t follow this through to its logical conclusion?
AG, that’s an excellent idea.
All those voting for the O.. form a line… right here. You will be the first to volunteer your wealth to be spread around.
Chap.. you’re already set up with Peggy. So don’t get in line.
Please indicate exactly how much wealth you have… Someone will be by to instruct you as to how much you must spread around.
And Have a nice day!
So, she works for the government then?
Verrry rich indeed.
Simplified Obama tax return.
line 1 …. earnings _________
Send in line 1.
Try being a military spouse in such an unfriendly, contracting economy. I used to be a social studies teacher until I was told that my masters degree wasn’t desired and that I didn’t have enough “experience.” Yet, if I took slave wages as a sub, I would reach parity with minority and bachelor’s degreed teachers in about 10-20 years.
I’m also worried, like many military spouses, that my husband’s job is in jeopardy. This country (except those who don’t speak out of both sides of their mouth) has turned away from the military. I can’t wait until reality sets in in Hampton Roads, VA, when the military contracting jobs dry up and so do a lot of the military jobs. Won’t be much of an economy with no military members (or their families) infusing the local economy with cash.
This may seem harsh but when Thelma Drake lost her seat, a woman who did more for the military in Hampton Roads than that pipsqueek Nye ever will, I said good riddance. I hope the blacks in this area like their short-lived revenge fest because when they start losing painting, blasting, and metal-working jobs that maintain the big Navy ships, they’ll wonder where it all went wrong.
Hard core Republican states like Nebraska and Idaho look better and better. As much as I had hopes of relocating to Colorado, I don’t think the Dems will tolerate the presence of military members when they have a new influx of liberal voters redefining what it means to be a Coloradan. Same goes for Nevada.
Again, I hope libs enjoy their revenge fest. It will be short-lived when you lose your standard-of-living because of your shortsightedness.
Many on my wife’s side of the family don’t understand why I’m not excited about the possibility of getting aid from Congress, ala Pelosi’s latest gambit. After all, I had medical bills to pay after my leg being rebuilt this summer and fall. I am unemployed… who better to support Democratic politicians. I tell them, I’ll sell my house and live in a tent before I agree to such crapola bailouts as what we’ve seen. Can’t understand me? Well, it’s obvious the Rino’s couldn’t, either.
You made me spill my coffee! Too funny!
Let’s talk intellectual integrity. He won’t drill and gas prices will be low? McCain was going to take her job? We picked her, or she volunteered to open her mouth? No offense, but come back when you grow up.
Hangfire said:
I live in deepest blue yuppie land. I could not sleep last night becuase people were setting off fireworks and screaming in the streets for all hours.. It also sounded like they were throwing cats off of rooftops, but I could be wrong about that. The only time it was quiet (and I was able to drift off to some sleep) was I suppose when the President Elect was speaking.
I compare this with my parents reaction to Reagan winning in 1980. I watched the returns with them (I was 13) and when it was obvious Reagan (and Al D’Amato) had won, my father turned off the t.v. with a satified look on his face and said something like “well, Ineed to get to work early in the morning and YOU need to get to bed, it is a school night.”
As for the rest, I was talking to a Spanish friend of mine (who is now a US citizen) a few days ago. He was completely shocked by the whole thing. My reaction was that as Americans, we are not used to the Messianic overtones of the Obama capmaign. That is something you see in the Third World or some dictatorship.
Oh well.
Good article Michelle!
I didn’t sleep well last night either, so today I’m looking at all of this through exhausted eyes. I just pray that our country will pull through what is to come.
I can at least say that TN Republicans gained control of our State House and retained control of the State Senate and gained seats there too. We have a Dem governor, but he’s been better than the two previous Repubs.
Is this sort of like a “friends with benefits” arrangement?
Parasites usually do not kill the host. They just feed on him and keep him too weak to mount a successfull immune defense. This is what peggy and our government has been doing thus far. However, when the immune system becomes too weak, parasites grow out of control and kill the host, and themselves.
Mayor Dinkins (sp) was just on Fox. You remember him. The black NYC Mayor who sent New York City down the toilet but forgot to flush!
What is wrong with Fox that they would drudge this guy up from obscurity to lecture us on civil rights and racisim! I’m home for lunch, but doubt I can stomach anything.
Forgive any misspelled words or grammar errors, but I’m upset already disgusted with Fox and it’s just the day after.
Yeah! Look how they turned on Barney Frank, Jack Murtha, William Jefferson, and every Dem mayor of Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and Philadelphia.
B.O. Stinks
B.O. Smells!
excellent article michelle, republicans voted a compassionate conservative and politicians into office in 2000 and they spent our grandchildren into debtors prison pandering to katrina victims and peggy the deadbeat. the only lesson to learn from this is that congress better do a better job of cutting waste and balancing the budget than bush did, or next time they will face the same backlash.
By all means, Ms. Speaker of the House, the other stimulus packages haven’t worked but let’s keep trying it until we really mess our economy up.
How quickly amnesia sets in…
quick answer…. No
Obama = Bankrupt Coal = Higher Energy $$$
Obama = Higher taxes = Fewer Jobs
Obama = No Drilling for gas or oil = Higher Gas $$$
Obama = No new refineries = Higher gas prices
So… to apply intellectual integrity, you must address the facts.
Does that clear things up for ya?
imjustsayingsaid:”Could it be that this person is not talking about handouts but talking that with Obama being president she might be able to keep her job and therefore be able to make her mortgage and that gas prices might stay low so that she can afford…”
How are gas prices going to stay low with cap and trade and the elimination of ANY new drilling? Last i looked, gas was 2.09 here in Indiana. With your thinking, we should retain Bush for a third term? How can she afford her mortgage? By getting her lazy butt out the door and working the second job (which ARE available) like I DID. obamma is going to legalize 2o million illegals. Wanna create 20 million new jobs? Uphold the law. obama will not keep his word on this: will he deport his aunt? he said he would uphold the law…then deport 20,000,001.
Oh I remember him. He created nearly ALL of the mess Rudy Guilianni had to clean up
I witnessed the impact of Dinkins first hand. He was a DISASTER. Only mayor who was worse was that crack smoking guy from DC.
A lecture on civil rights and racism from the man who let Crown Heights burn in a 3 day race riot.
That’s rich. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so damned tragic.
I slept great because I’m an optimist. I know after we spend decades cleaning up their mess, everything will be fine. For a while.
Peggy the Moocher is great, Michelle. When I was a kid, we had a Socialist named Peggy in the neighborhood; we called her Piggy.
Is Giuliani going to be on next to explain how one goes about cleaning up after Dinkins?
Lets not bring sexism into this – just keep it at racism. So dont confuse the issue. The guy talking about Obama doing his Thug Thizzle was black. lol
Aloha, cicero, NJ,
I think you are missing the point somewhat. It seems to me imjustsaying was proposing what he felt was a reasonable alternative interpretation of Peggy’s sentiment, not making a claim as to its merits. The actual validity of that sentiment is irrelevant if it is only being presented to counter MM’s interpretation of what Peggy meant.
What Peggy meant is admittedly ambiguous. Maybe she is expecting the government to sweep all her troubles away. I don’t know, but I nor do I think that imjustsaying’s interpretation is unreasonable either.
Maybe they should just die, and decrease the surplus population.
I have had to go through a few stages of grief. Cried a lot after Ohio was called for The One and knew it was over. Then got really depressed. Then got angry. Now I’m ready to think of some new bumper stickers. Seems like there could be a lot of mileage gotten from this chick.
Maybe “Honk if Obama filled your gas tank and paid your mortgage”?
