Child abuser: Obama-supporting teacher bullies soldier’s daughter
This is ghastly. If you are a parent with elementary schoolchildren, you will hit the roof. A teacher in Cumberland County, N.C. near Fort Bragg (NOTE: she is no longer in Asheville) was caught on tape by Finnish documentarians making a film about Barack Obama’s supporters. The teacher, Diantha Harris, uses the classroom as a propaganda vehicle to shove her politics down the children’s throats.
Watch her bully a little girl who dares to answer “McCain” when asked whom she supports for president. The child is the daughter of a soldier. Watch the teacher mock the girl and her father (“So that mean yo’ daddy could stay in Iraq for another hundred years!”). Watch the little girl’s eyes well up in tears. Is this the kind of education reform Barack Obama advocates?
This is child abuse plain and simple. The “educator” should be disciplined, fired, forced to apologize publicly, and banned from the classroom. From Belch via Allahpundit:

Like not having big fights between Iraq and having soldiers killed.
So in other words, Barack is going to end that war in Iraq. What do you all know about that war in Iraq?
[Harris addresses Kathy] Talk, cause yo daddy in the military. Talk. It’s a senseless war! And by the way, Cathy, the person that you’re picking for president said that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to!

This is what happens when we relinquish the education of our children. My boys grew up, fortunately, before this abuse was so rampant. If I had to do it over again, they would be home-schooled.

What I would like to know is if the parent of this child took action. At the very least, this teacher should face some type of disciplinary action including a suspension. She should be made to apologize before a school assembly as well. Teachers are there to educate not abuse or indoctrinate.

Acutally, my daughter did participate in a second grade vote and told me that she voted for McCain. When I asked “why?” she said that he looked smart like grampa. No. Because despite McCain’s myriad faults as a candidate one thing he did not do was encourage a culture of thuggishness. There were no “McCain Action Wires” instructing people to shout people down and prevent honest debate. There was no advice from McCain to get in people’s faces.
Obama’s campaign attracted a certain type of supporter, of which this woman is an appalling common archetype.

I contacted a local Asheville, NC newspaper and just picked out one of its reporters. There is no reason that anyone here can’t do the same.

Now, the teachers force their values and morals on the students and ask the parents to “help” teach their own children academics.
The reason teachers don’t teach academics is because the colleges don’t educate the teachers. They turn out of bunch of uneducated morons that can’t even speak proper english.
Had I been that teacher, I would have knelt down in front of that student, looked her right in the eyes and said, “When you send your daddy another letter, tell him your teacher thanks him so much for his sacrifice and for protecting this country.”

I just hope that you aren’t looking for a job anytime soon – the recession is going to bite hard and fast and you can look for the unemployment figures in the double digit range. What I will posit, however, is that such activity will be prevalent and it is to be expected that Obama will publicly refute such actions. This kind of stuff has been going on for years in certain counties of N.C. – the ones that turned my beloved state blue for Obama. I went to public school in Wake County (Raleigh) growing up. I remember my 4th-grade teacher making us all make peanut-shaped posters in support of Carter. And no, she didn’t give us a choice to make posters for that other guy.
The stuff continued throughout high school as well. My social studies teachers in high school were foaming at the mouth when it came to Reagan and Bush. Believe it not, I, too, became a high school social studies teacher in my home state of N.C. It took me a couple of years to realize that there was a reason the course I was teaching wasn’t called “American Civics.” We were teaching “Economic, Legal and Political Systems” where each system was equal (well, except for capitalism. Capitalism is evil, don’t you know.) Anyway, my eyes were eventually opened. I homeschool my son now. I don’t know if there are any stats to back up my claim, but an awful lot of public school teachers end up homeschooling their own kids. There’s a reason for that. My heart was saddened when I saw how that little girl was treated on the video. And believe me when I say that that smug teacher will never ever be convinced that she wasn’t totally fair.

I’m new to posting here and don’t see the message I just submitted. I’ll try again and hopefully keep it shorter this time. I grew up in N.C. and even became a high school social studies teacher myself. I had lots of teachers like her. My 4th-grade teacher made us make peanut-shaped posters in support of Carter. My high school teachers went off on Reagan for calling the Soviet Empire evil. He was the evil one. When I became a teacher and started to get a little more life experience I had my eyes opened. There was a reason I wasn’t teaching “American Civics.” The course was named “Economic, Legal, and Political Systems” where all of them are equal (well except for capitalism!). To make a very long story short, I feel for that little girl. Stuff like that goes on a lot when the camera isn’t rolling. Btw, I am homeschooling my son now. An awful lot of teachers I taught with are doing the same. I don’t think that is a coincidence.

I had to drop something of there this morning and the principle pulled me aside to thank me for the Freedom Flag that I donated on 9/11/08. I had totally forgotten about doing it. They are going to fly the flag and it came with a certificate and explanation as to what each thing on the flag represented. They framed those things in a beautiful frame and presented me with a framed certificate of thanks.
This is part of the reason we homeschool and have been for the last 14 years.
