I’ve had a few friends in NY tell me there were “victory” riots up there, like football or soccer riots. Any truth to that? Didn’t see anything in the media about it.

Are Prisons Racist?
A statistic that liberals usually quote is: “44% of America’s prison population is black, yet blacks only make up 13% of America’s population in general”. Liberals are constantly blaming this statistic on racism that they claim is endemic in modern American society. On the other hand, I have always maintained that this disparity is due to that breakdown of the intact family (70% of blacks are born out of wedlock), as well as the welfare state, which removes the economic necessity of a father in a “poor” household.
I thought it would be interesting to find out what the percentage of blacks in prison was during the 1950s, before the civil rights laws were enacted and during a period of legal segregation. I suspect that less blacks were imprisoned proportionately during this era where racism was legal and widely accepted in the American mainstream. If this were true, it would prove my theory that there are forces much more insidious than racism that have led to the social and economic disparity between blacks and whites in modern America.
I goggled “black prison population 1950″ but I didn’t come up with any statistics, but I did find an interesting article by Walter Williams, in a 2005 article of the “Jewish World Review”. Also, see if you can search for and find statistics that compare the percentage of blacks (proportionately) that were imprisoned in the US before the civil rights movement.
If my hunch is correct, and fewer blacks were charged with crimes and imprisoned before racial civil rights became the law of the land, one could foolishly make the argument that the civil rights movement has increased discrimination against blacks. However, I believe that the truth is that “the victim mentality”, the “welfare state” and the “breakdown of the intact family” have all resulted in unintended consequences which have resulted in disproportionate number of blacks in prison. Many liberal politicians, civil rights groups and programs intended to help minorities, hurt the very people who they intend to help.
For example, with all of Barack Obama’s talk of helping people on Chicago’s South side as a “community organizer” and “State senator”, crime, poverty, unemployment and eduacation in the areas that Obama worked in, actually got worse. How can you explain this? I think the reparations discussion should start soon, since, as a 36 year old man, I clearly owe something to people I’ve never met for something that happened long before I was born because of a reason as important as the amount of melanin in your skin.
But, I think the reparations should be ironic in a O. Henry sort of way. For instance, maybe pay reparations in country music CDs, ice skates, or Monster truck rally tickets.
I’m just saying we should have fun with our racial strife.

I don’t think he really figures in to the future dynamics of the new political landscape except for his comments being used by liberals to try and define what conservatives are.
Really unimportant at this stage but when judicial hearings start he will be.

I put up with several Obama taunts at U of M, and now have to wonder if the failing grade I received on my Psych research paper for my Technical writing class is because of my support for Palin/McCain’08 pin…..
I’ll know soon enough since the paper is also being used for my Psych class on addictions and its going to be graded by a Psychologist.

I have a sister, both an avid liberal Obama supporter and a well off doctor, easily fits into Obama’s definition of rich, no matter what that definition is today. I’ve listened to more than a few of her rants about greedy rich people. She also whines endlessly about taxes and is always looking for new ways to avoid them. A silver lining of all this will be her shocked realization that she is one of the greedy rich and is still not paying her fair share. I hate saying it but I am going to enjoy saying “told ya so!” Early and often.

Racism in the United States is a complex issue. Most of what i read on this blog about racism is ill-informed.
It took me the better part of 25 years to move beyond the comfort zone of my own “beliefs” about racism in order to better understand this force that does affect human lives in the United States in very specific ways.
Liberal prognostications about racism are of little use in the conversation because so many of them are based on “popular” misconceptions about what racism is and how it works.
In my professional life where i was a paid facilitator for groups of mixed racial backgrounds, groups which sought to move beyond the usual conundrums about racial issues in order to organize their communities to live in peace across racial lines, I found that hard-core white conservatives were much more willing to move past these very common misconceptions about racism. That is based on my experience dealing with racism head on in communities and institutions.
Bottom line: we aren’t going to “get it” sitting in front of our keyboards debating prison stats and such.
Obama used racial conundrums as a “screen” or a “pick” to shelter himself while he made his move on the Presidency. Obama used white misconceptions about their own racial identity as “white people” to neutralize their brains which may have been better used to look at his actions and track record instead of his cultural identity sob story (the white g-ma, his mythical “father(s)” etc etc.)
Obama is the fruit of the poisonous plant of multiculturalism— something that 20-40 somethings have been perfectly programmed to accept hook line and sinker.
Obama is not who he presents himself to be. Multiculturalism is a marxist instrument for perpetrating our institutions and is the anti-thesis of King’s dream of judging the merits of a human being on the content of their character: Obama was given a pass based on his cultural identity story.

Side note: the “black is superior” mind set is based on a deep seated sense of inferiority. Any African American human being who has followed a path of righteousness that began at the racial wounds they received coming up in America will tell you so.
I know Native and Mexican American people (my people) who will tell you the same thing. There is pride in one’s heritage and traditions and then there is La Raza and all that other hogwash that preaches reactionary supremacy based on deep seated internalized inferiority.

the only thing missing though from Lindsey Graham’s website with respect to this crescent moon reference is that the 1776 battle flag has the words “Liberty” inscribed inside the crescent moon…whereas in Lindsey Graham’s website the word “liberty” is missing.

I’m hearing more about race & racism in the post-racial world than I did in the old one. And it was mentioned ALOT then.
I think this is the second time I’ve read this question. I didn’t witness any, nor have I heard about anything more than some “crazy” street celebrations. Nothing was described to me which could be interpreted as a riot. Obviously, this doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen. Maybe in some of the other boroughs. Hope that helps.

There was celebratory small arms fire in southern California but that’s normal. Happens for all kinds of events. Weddings, sports, etc.
I was in both Brooklyn, NY City and Nyack NY during election night. When CNN ruled that Obama won (Fox news only projected Obama winning, while CNN already had a picture of him and 44th President of The United States below) people at the bar jumped, screamed, shouted… so much so that me and my wife had to leave cause they were going crazy. They were immature. When we got outside… You can hear people shouting / screaming all over.
The only incident we had was a group of kids 18 – 21 … shouted at me and my wife ‘OBAMA!’ as we took a walk through the neighborhood.
Its funny me and my friends Never behaved like this in 2004 when Bush won.

The Black DA in Dallas County, TX has spend untold amounts of money
getting black men out of prison since he was elected. Now, if they are
innocent, there is nothing wrong with that…however, are all of the innocent
men in prison in TX black? Are there no Hispanic, White, American Indian,
Oriental or mixed race innocents that were sent to prison by past Dallas
County DAs?
From what I understand from some Blacks, they expect the US to be flowing
with Milk and Honey from now on, but just for them? One woman told me
that she is already spending her reparation check. When I asked what
reparation check she said that the Obamessiah had promised reparations
to all blacks that are descended from former slaves. When I asked how she was going to prove that she was descended from slaves ( she’s actually Jamaican) she said that she wouldn’t have to because, since so
many can’t prove this descent, he will just give reparations to everyone
who is black. Now this I haven’t heard about from anyone except for the
women on this cleaning crew. Has anyone else?
If they are getting reparations, how about all the other groups of people
that got a raw deal in the past? Such as Indians, Chinese, Irish, Italians
and so on. Everyone of us could make a case if we go back far enough.

Well naturally, in CHICAGO one must expect when a black person fires a gun indiscriminately in public, one shouldn’t think anything of it. That’s simply something that HAPPENS in OBAMALAND. White folks, being out-of-place in OBAMALAND, should have no say there, especially if they’re police.
I’ll never understand how these folks look at where they live, how things are (this part of the country is a variable killing field–far worse than anywhere in Iraq), and continue voting for the criminals and degenerates who are the CAUSE of it.

I can proudly say I have not witnessed any provocative or racially charged comments or behavior at our local Air Force Base or community in the middle of nowhere Idaho (yet).
